Utsatthet - en del av jobbet? : En kvalitativ studie om att känna sig säker och utsatt som socialsekreterare / Exposure - part of the job? : A qualitative study about feeling secure and exposed as a social welfare secretary.Lindström, Victoria, Ali, Marwan January 2016 (has links)
According to previous scientific research and reports it states that the exposure towards social welfare secretaries has increased in the recent years. The main purpose of this study was to examine and analyse how the employees at swedish social welfare services experience exposure and security in their place of work. The experiences of security were analysed through three theories; violence normalization process, cognitive dissonance and theory about client relations. In order to use a correct method, six interviews were carried out with the employees. The data found through the material was transcribed and analysed based on an thematic analysis. The main results that were found in the empirical material concluded that the secretaries thoroughly felt safe in their workplace. These feelings could however fade whenever targeted by a client, mostly by verbal attacks. A conclusion that was drawn is that a feeling of pseudo-security can be notable in the profession of the social secretary. This might be a risk factor for social secretaries mental health and therefore it may be important to make further rechears about that subject.

Bemötandets betydelse i mötet : En kvalitativ studie om socialsekreterarnas syn på bemötandet gentemot unga lagöverträdare.Skogman, Elin, Hisham, Mary January 2016 (has links)
The study investigates how social workers looks at theris treatment when they come in contact with young offenders. The intention of this study is to find out how social workers debate about when they respond to young offenders, which treatment style they use and the opportunities but also the difficulties may arise in the meeting. In order to get answers to our questions we chose a qualitative study based on interviews with social workers that all work with young offenders. Seven people were interviewed and all of them are between 26 and 40 years of age. The theoretical starting points for this study were selected based on the Johan Asplunds (2010) theory on social responsivitet and Per Echeverris (2010) response theory on the outside and inside the perspective of the treatment and treatment styles. The conclusions we have formed from the interviewees is that the treament is something central and guiding the work for people, but especially with young offenders. Through a good treatment and good cooperation as social worker the opportunity to be able to influnce young people for a positive behavior pattern. To achieve this, the social worker has different strategies to ensure the good cooperation with the youths. But there are also various obstacles in responding to the interviewees agreed, and that's including lack of time. We are aware that our study is not possible to generalize over all social workers but, despite that, we have given a more positive image of the responses within the social services and social workers profession. We knew that the treatment was an important part of the social workers but what we did not know was that the treatment was so governs almost all of the work with youths. We have, thanks to this study received better understanding and knowledge of the social services and social workers work.

"Att tolka kan vara lite missvisande ord, för de behöver inte tolka någonting" : En kvalitativ studie om socialsekreterares upplevelser av tolkade möten / ”Interpreting can be a bit misleading, because they do not need to interpret anything”Bohlin, Hanna, Ponce, Angie January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this study was to investigate how the presence of the interpreter as a third person affects the meeting between social secretary and client. The study has been conducted through semi-structured interviews based on social secretary's experiences of interpreted meetings and experiences of power. The respondents are multilingual and have experience of participating in interpreted meetings where they themselves have been able to interpret the language. We have analyzed our empirical data based on Foucault's theory of pastoral power. In our empirical data, we found that it tends to be more difficult for social secretaries in interpreted meetings to create relationships and guide their clients, and thus the pastoral power loses its most fundamental principle. The triangular power theory that arises in interpreted meetings makes the relationship creation more difficult as the interpreter could have the opportunity to prevent or distort the information that is conveyed between the social secretary and the client. We have also found that all three parties in the conversation carry various factors into the meeting that can affect the situation in different directions, examples of factors can be age, gender and ethnicity. The social secretaries are aware of the influencing factors that can occur in interpreted meetings and have developed various tools and strategies to be able to respond to this. However, the social secretaries believe that it is difficult to pay attention to clear deficiencies in interpreted meetings when one cannot speak the language.

<p>Many social services cases have been reviewed in the media during the last years. One of those cases is “Lasse and Karin”, handled by the Social Services in Oskarshamn in 2002. Lasse and Karin had their son taken into custody by the Social Services and the case was reviewed in national media. Through this case the Social Services received much attention, of which most was negative, and their handling of the case was greatly criticized. From this particular case as well as others alike it, our interest developed into this study. This is a qualitative study, based of sex depth interviews with Social Welfare Secretaries in three different municipalities. Our aim with this study is to examine how the Social Welfare Secretaries are influenced by media coverage of their work, focusing on their handling of cases. We also compare how these influences vary between Social Welfare Secretaries who have personal experience of media reviews, and the Social Welfare Secretaries who have not yet been reviewed by the media. The study has a sociological and social psychological perspective. Our purpose with this study is to learn more about how the Social Welfare Secretaries experience the media coverage of social service cases, how the Social Welfare Secretaries relate to media articles and how they, in their occupational role, handle the pressure of being reviewed by media. Some of the people we interviewed have personal experience of media reviews while others only have experienced the reviewing of colleagues through media. The result of the study shows that the Social Welfare Secretaries experience media reviewing as tiring, strenuous and one-sided. Because of this, their trust in the media was low. However, they all agreed that media could be used to promote the Social Services in a positive way. </p>

Men detta skulle behövas eftersom forskning visat att rätt bedömning är viktigt för att kunna utforma adekvat stöd.</p><p>Nyckelord: utvecklingsstörning, svagbegåvning, föräldraskap, bedömning, socialsekreterare.</p> / <p>Intellectual disability and parenthood</p><p>-social welfare secretaries assessment of the need of support for parents with an intellectual disability, and the difficulties around these assessments</p><p>The main purpose of this study is to examine how social welfare secretaries do their assessments of the need of support for parents with an intellectual disability, and what their experiences is about difficulties doing these assessments. The purpose is also to examine what earlier research says in the area. The research summary will be used for the analysis of the empirical data. The method used is a qualitative approach with semi structured interviews in three municipalities (A, B, C). The result shows that in all three examined municipalities (A, B, C) they do an ordinary investigation. In municipality B social welfare secretaries also use a special institutional flat where the family lives for a longer period of time and where special methods of assessment are used. In municipality C social welfare secretaries also use a special flat for purpose of investigation where the family stays day time for a longer period of time, but without using special methods of assessment. The result also shows that difficulties in doing these assessments depend for example on the intellectual disability in itself: parents not being able to understand their own need of support. It also shows difficulties in addressing the parents, without making them feel insulted. Generally the experiences of the interviewed social welfare secretaries is that it is a complicated area with complicated assessments. An important conclusion of this study is that, probably because of the relatively small numbers of parents with an intellectual disability, not all municipalities have developed special methods for this special group of people. But this will be needed, because as the research summary shows, a correct assessment by the social welfare secretary is necessary in order to be able to give adequate support.</p><p>Key words: intellectual disability, parenthood, assessment, social welfare secretary</p>
