Socialarbetares upplevda kompetens i arbete med ungdomar som säljer sexuella tjänster / Social workers’ perceived competence in working with youth who sell sexual servicesRydin, Samuel, Lundell, Andreas January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes, experiences and competence of social workers regarding the work towards boys, girls and non-binary youth, below the age of 18, who are selling sexual services. The study also aims to examine how comfortable social workers are while working with this subject. The study was conducted with a quantitative web-based poll where social workers, who were members of the Facebook-group “Socionom” specifically for social workers, had the opportunity to answer questions regarding youths who sell sexual services. The results of the poll were later statistically tested and analyzed by using previously conducted research around youths who sell sexual services, and by using a structural organizational perspective. Youths who sell sexual services are exposed to high risks and poor mental health both during- and after the experience of selling sexual services. The results of the poll indicate that the most important aspect of working with this subject is depending on how comfortable the social worker feels having discussions with the youths regarding sexual health, while consensus show that social work-education, according to the respondents, does not prioritize or give lectures regarding youth who are selling sexual services or their sexual health. The results also show that the respondents to a higher degree suspect female clients are selling sexual services than boys or non-binary, even though previous research show that boys are selling sexual services to a higher degree. Most of the respondents also specify that they are not aware of any current guidelines at their current workplace regarding youths who are selling sexual services, and that there is variance in how comfortable the respondents feel working with this subject.

The purpose of the study was to examine how social workers at the unit for financial assistance look at the preventive work with families receiving financial assistance, to prevent the children from becoming beneficiaries themselves in the future. / Not just an interpreter : A qualitative study of social workers experiences of using interpreters from a communication and relational perspectiveNyström, Agnes, Sjökvist, Erik January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of the study has been to examine, from a communication and relational perspective, the experiences of social workers professional dialog with clients through telephone and place interpreters. The study has an abductive and qualitative method approach and the study's empirical data has been collected through eight individual semi-structured interviews with social workers, working at the children's and youth unit and family law in Stockholm and the surrounding area. All respondents have experience of telephone and located interpreted meetings in their work. The empirics that have been collected have been analyzed on the basis of a thematic method of analysis and have been interpreted through a hermeneutic interpretation theory. The study takes off from communication and relational theoretical point of view. The result shows that the professional dialog where an interpreter is present differs in most consideration, it can be difficult to relate to a third party, since the social worker and interpreter may have expectations of the dialog that do not match and that the visibility of the dialog is limited, when the social worker does´t have full control over the content of the conversation. Nonverbal communication proves to be extremely important and the study points to the many challenges and disadvantages of using telephone interpreters. The study further shows that it is of great importance that the social worker and interpreter establish a cooperation and a relationship between each other in order to enable a successful professional dialog. Finally, we have concluded that communication between the parties does not take place in a linear process, between transmitter and receiver, but that communication is more complex than that.

Social workers experiance of how their education prepered them to handle workload in their profession and how they handle the workload onsite in the workplace -primarly fokus on social workers with educational bakground in behavioural science and social work. : A qualitative researchRamic, Armina, Sadoon, Jasmina January 2020 (has links)
Under vardera tema identifierades även subteman. / The work environment and workload of social workers has been a topic of conversation for many years, in hopes of improvement. Several studies and reports written on the matter, both recent and older that dates back ten years and more bears evidence of this. With this as a notion, the purpose of this study is to determine how social workers with an education in behavioural science and in social work view their workload. The main inquiry here is divided into two parts:In what way has the social workers education prepared them in handling workload? And how is the workload handled onsite in the workplace- primarily focusing on people with an education in behavioural science and social work. No previous research can be found focusing on these types of degrees and more research is needed to examine the differences between social wokers' educational backgrounds in this issue. The focus is to create a deeper understanding of whether there is a difference between the two educational backgrounds in this issue. To perform this study, qualitative research was used with a semi-structured interview and with a total of eight informants. Four informants from each educational background. The data gathered was analysed with a thematic analysis method and resulted in two different themes. Under each of the separate themes, different subthemes were also identified. The results shows that all participants experience that the workload is high, but manageable. All participants express that their education has not prepared them to manage workload in the coming profession –regardless of their previous education. The findings in this study in regards to handling workload, is shown to be that all participants are in agreement in how to deal with the stress that the occupational workload induces. This study contributes an increased understanding as to the weight of proper information regarding stressmanagement strategies for people undertaking an education or training in this field. It also highlights the importance of collaboration in the workplace to maintain motivation and morale among staff. Especially in regards to the mentalhealth of the workers.
