Sport v československém denním tisku mezi lety 1918 a 1928 / Sport in czechoslovakian daily newspapers between years 1918 and 1928Kalát, Ondřej January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the status and development of Czechoslovak sport journalism in daily newspapers between years 1918 and 1928. It is based on studies of five period newspapers - Národní listy, Lidové noviny, Národní politika, Právo lidu and České slovo. Given the paucity of original literature, these five printed materials are the main source of the analysis. The main aim of the thesis was to determine, how often and in which manner the journalists wrote about sport in that period and if the sports news became an inseparable part of newspaper in that period. One part of the analysis focuses on the people who wrote sport articles in those newspapers, if the sport journalism was their only specialization. It is also partly considered with the status of Czech sport photojournalism, sport advertising and reporting from the Olympic Games in that time. The opening three sections of the diploma thesis are mainly theoretical. The first one outlines the genesis of Czech sport journalism from its beginnings to the year 1918, when the profession became an independent branch of newspaper business. The second one describes the situation of Czech sport between years 1918 and 1928. And the third one characterizes the media situation in the Czechoslovakia in years 1918-1928, focusing on sports...

In Sweden sports journalism has been critisised among many for lacking professionalism and sports journalists have been accused of being both restricted and biased. Especially in local sports journalism the issue is said to be evenmore prominent.Through a qualitative discourse analysis the main purpose of this essay is to study the standard of objectivity in swedish local sports journalism.Thirty two randomly selected articles written in ten local newspapers after ten games in swedish footballs top divison Allsvenskan were read and analyzed during the study. In relation to the profesional ideals of journalism some major themes of shortcomings were discovered and categorized. The most significant was the lack of hearing both sides. The reporting was very one-sided in a way that most of the time favored the local team. From an objective view questionable reporting was also found when it came to the inclusion and exclusion of certain in-game situations but also in what surrounding circumstances the journalists chose to aim their focus on. Uncertaincies were likewise exposed in the amount of personal opinions being shown by the author.

Var är brudarna? : En innehållsanalytisk studie om kvinnliga idrottsutövare i Sportbladet / Where are the chicks? : A content analytic study about female athletes in SportbladetCarlén, Fredrik, Dillenz, Mikael January 2009 (has links)
The goal with our research has been to describe how often and in what way female athletes are represented in the sport section in Sweden’s biggest evening newspaper Aftonbladet. The material we’ve used are the newspapers that we collected during two weeks in 2008, the 3rd of November to the 9th of November and the 11th of November to the 17th of November. We’ve conduced two qualitative researches – a text analysis and an image analysis – and one quantitative analysis on our material. We’ve based our analysis on, among others, theories on the sportmediacomplex, critique feministic analysis and normative theory. In these articles women are designed into four different stereotypes. We’ve chosen to call them the star, the victim, the sensation and the absent. On the basis on our theories we believe that these four stereotypes are creating more sexism and in that way they are contributing to the suppressing of women as a whole. Our quantitative analysis shows that men occur more frequent on the sport pages than women. Almost nine of ten of the articles in Sportbladet are about men and male athletes. We believe that in this way Sportbladet contributes to the invisibilisation of female athletes and further more to the discrimination of women.

The aim of this work is to think direct broadcast television from what is called dead time herein, periods less concentrated of flow of the event broadcast. Throughout teletransmission there is clashes between two different information flows - the event and the television - which are resolved in accordance with processes (moldurações) expressing television figures (molduras). When observing the dead time, one can understand more clearly what strategies are employed in this transposition of an event to the television. The object of study is football, based on the observation of the eleven last World Cups final games (1970-2010).

Frihet i en bubbla : En kvalitativ studie av svenska journalisters upplevelser av arbetsförhållandena i bevakningen av OS i Peking 2008.Forssell, Karl, Geite, Sofia January 2009 (has links)

This study focuses on exploring Swedish journalists’ experiences and thoughts about the working conditions during the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008. It is interesting because of the fact that the Olympic Games where hosted in a country with dictatorial government and this is the foundation of this study. Theories about social construction, propaganda and media events were applied to illuminate and give a broader comprehension of the influence on the journalistic work during an Olympic Game. To explore this problem and get answers to our questions we used qualitative interviews with eight Swedish journalists who were stationed in Beijing. The result of this study is based on these journalists’ experiences of their reality. We found that all the journalists experienced an almost perfect working condition in many ways. Censorship and the lack of freedom of speech were debated a lot before the games in many western media. These subjects did not affect negative on the Swedish journalists work in Beijing but the debate had anyway an unavoidable influence on them. The line between sport journalism and a social journalism was often rubbed out and it seemed hard to avoid what happened outside the Olympic area. The organization of the Beijing Games is described by many journalists as the best of all times. We found that the journalists gave a common experience which says that almost everything in Beijing was controlled and set by the organization. The majority says at the same time that they were totally aware of the ongoing propaganda. The journalists in our study describe a journalistic freedom inside the Olympic area, in the same way as in every Olympic Game. No matter if it is hosted by a democratic or a dictatorial government.

Den tolfte spelaren : En kvalitativ studie av hejarklacksjournalistik i den svenska sportjournalistiken. / The twelfth player : – a qualitative study of cheerleading journalism in the Swedish sports journalismMalmkvist, Alexander, Pettersson, Pontus January 2013 (has links)
This study aims to gain greater knowledge about the phenomenon cheerleading journalism and its existence in the Swedish sports journalism. We did this by making an impact in the media debate, to thereby identify key aspects of cheerleading journalism. These elements are then used to reach a preliminary definition of the phenomenon. This was followed by qualitative interviews with six Swedish sports journalists from newspapers Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter, with the aim to find out how they behaved the phenomenon. The results of the earlier debate and the answers from the respondents show that cheerleading journalism is nationalistic, biased and seeks an inclusive effect on its audience. This phenomenon is considered to be an inferior form of journalism and progress especially in reporting on the Swedish national teams and / or individual representatives of Sweden. The results have also been related to selected theories, agenda-setting, gatekeeping and framing.
