[en] AFFIRMATIVE DESIGN IN BLACK DIASPORA CONTEXTS IN THE BRAZILIAN ANIMATED TELEVISION SERIES / [pt] DESIGN AFIRMATIVO EM CONTEXTOS AFRODIASPÓRICOS NA ANIMAÇÃO SERIADA BRASILEIRASANDRO LOPES DOS SANTOS 17 December 2020 (has links)
[en] This thesis aims to register Affirmative Design as a spreader of reparative actions in favor of the resignification of what it is to be black in an Afrodiasporic context. It enunciates the strength of a design built in the struggle, the result of the wisdom of black movements based on an Afro-Brazilian, African and black diaspora worldview. It is in this field of design plus affirmative action that Affirmative Design acts, creating sensitive conditions for the valuation of marginalized groups, enhancing and disseminating their knowledge in the sense of social equity. The research focuses on the intertwining between design and animation and its way of transmitting messages, in which the idealization, construction and purpose of these meanings are conditioned by their artistic, cultural, social and economic context. We highlight the understanding of animation as a projective practice, such as design, responsible for social interaction. In order to carry out the research, it was necessary to understand the growth of production and the imagery representation of national characters, according to their race and ethnicity. The research was developed by analyzing the programming of the five main children s pay tv channels, based on the listings of Brazilian works broadcast on pay tv available by OCA - Brazilian Observatory of Cinema and Audiovisual - of Ancine, between 2016 and 2017. In addition, in the search for productions with multicultural characteristics, semi-structured interviews were conducted with black animators, starting from the reflections derived from the debates established by the black live action cinema, which constituted an understanding of what would be an animation called black. Expanding the perception on the subject, the audience s discernment about the animations watched by children was captured, through online forms with parents and teachers, which allowed us to collect data about characters and narratives. The epistemological paradigm that guided the research determined for design the intrinsic epistemic value of black social movements and recognized that they are producers of a specific type of wisdom, the knowledge born in the struggle. This new knowledge, generated by non-hegemonic and counter-hegemonic groups,
creates new themes, concepts and boosts knowledge. Thus, it was learned from this study that Affirmative Design is a critical and resistance design with a political agenda of transformation focused particularly at the identity construction that recognizes the individual as such and places him in the world in a condition of equality, considering his self-image, his values and strengthening his corporeality and thinking in opposition to the effects of discrimination.

[en] A SYSTEM FOR GENERATING DYNAMIC FACIAL EXPRESSIONS IN 3D FACIAL ANIMATION WITH SPEECH PROCESSING / [pt] UM SISTEMA DE GERAÇÃO DE EXPRESSÕES FACIAIS DINÂMICAS EM ANIMAÇÕES FACIAIS 3D COM PROCESSAMENTO DE FALAPAULA SALGADO LUCENA RODRIGUES 24 April 2008 (has links)
A tese define
nominado VeeM (Virtual emotion-to-expression Model ),
O VeeM introduz o
derivadas.
A ferramenta permite a
[en] This thesis presents a system for generating dynamic facial
expressions synchronized with speech, rendered using a
tridimensional realistic face. Dynamic facial expressions
are those temporal-based facial expressions semanti-
cally related with emotions, speech and affective inputs
that can modify a facial animation behavior. The thesis
defines an emotion model for speech virtual actors, named
VeeM (Virtual emotion-to-expression Model ), which
is based on a revision of the emotional wheel of Plutchik
model. The VeeM introduces the emotional hypercube concept
in the R4 canonical space to combine pure emotions and
create new derived emotions. In order to validate VeeM, it
has been developed an authoring and player facial animation
tool, named DynaFeX (Dynamic Facial eXpression), where a
speech processing is realized to allow the phoneme and
viseme synchronization. The tool allows either the
definition and refinement of emotions for each frame, or
group of frames, as the facial animation edition using a
high-level approach based on animation scripts. The tool
player controls the animation presentation synchronizing
the speech and emotional features with the virtual
character performance. DynaFeX is built over a
tridimensional polygonal mesh, compliant with MPEG-4 facial
animation standard, what favors tool
interoperability with other facial animation systems.

[en] REAL-TIME 3D ANIMATION WITH HARMONIC AND MODAL ANALYSES / [pt] ANIMAÇÃO 3D EM TEMPO REAL COM ANÁLISES HARMÔNICAS E MODALCLARISSA CODA DOS SANTOS CAVALCANTI MARQUES 07 August 2013 (has links)
[en] Animation of three-dimensional characters is still a mostly manual
process. Applications such as computer games and motion capture for
special effects in movies require continuous intervention from the artist,
who needs to guide the movement almost step by step. In such examples the
available tools provide controls mainly over local details, either in space or
in time. This thesis uses two analytical frameworks to deal with the process
of animation: harmonic and modal analyses, allowing the description of
movements with a reduced set of controls. A GPU implementation of the
resulting animations allows for real-time rendering of those. In particular,
it allows applications such as interactive control tuning through design
galleries animated in real-time or three-dimensional music visualization.
Particularly, it allows the choice of control parameters through the use of
animated galleries in realtime and the use of music frequencies to guide the
animation.

No final do
No meio digital, as
narrativas onde as imagens poderão ganhar movimento.
[en] This Thesis presents the results of a research made by the triangulation of a
qualitative and a quantitative method design try to find out how children may
understand narrative content when stories are presented in different forms: as a
traditional hard copy book and as an animated e-book in a digital platform such as
an e-reader. Since the very first storybook for children, the illustrations that have
always been included in such books have gone through many conceptual and
technical changes and has evolved from simple line drawings do a wide range of
styles. Today we see story books showing colors and textures created through
various techniques and resources. Interactive digital media offer a new supporting
structure for literary narrative and may provide the means to create a new kind of
relationship involving the subject who reads and the unfolding stories as he
interacts with the narrative content. In this media, illustration, which has always
made part children of story books, acquires a new form, for there is a possibility to
explore sensorial resources beyond those enhanced by verbal text and printed
illustration and, thus, creates a new way to practice and develop the act of reading.
The collected data and the research results can be used by designers, writers,
illustrators, pedagogy professionals and school teachers as aiding tools in the
effort to stimulate the pleasure of reading by small children after they have learned
the alphabet and during the time they struggle to became fully literate.
