[pt] A LUTA DAS MÃES NAS FAVELAS: MARGENS, ESTADO E RESISTÊNCIA / [en] THE STRUGGLE OF THE MOTHERS IN THE SLUMS: MARGINS, STATE AND RESISTANCEVINÍCIUS WINGLER BORBA SANTIAGO 27 October 2016 (has links)
[en] This dissertation deals with the mothers struggle in favelas of Rio de Janeiro in search of justice for their children murdered by military police and other State agents. The confrontations between mothers and the Brazilian State is crossed by issues of class, race and gender which allow us to understand in which way these mothers are related with the State. Trying to understand the struggle of these women I analyze how the black, poor and slum dwellers population has been historically marginalized by the Brazilian State through the construction of an imaginary of slum as a problem of the city. In as much as the politics of pacification of slums kill their children, the mothers get out of their homes and go to public spaces bringing in their bodies the sovereignty of having given the life meanwhile the Brazilian State take it away. The voices of these mothers in struggle put in dispute the idea of state sovereignty, main issue for International Relations.

[pt] HISTÓRIAS INTERROMPIDAS: A NECESSIDADE DA INCORPORAÇÃO DA PERSPECTIVA DE GÊNERO NOS PROCESSOS DE FEMINICÍDIOS NOS TRIBUNAIS DO JÚRI DA CIDADE DO RIO DE JANEIRO / [en] INTERRUPTED HISTORIES: THE NEED FOR INCORPORATION OF THE GENDER PERSPECTIVE IN FEMINICIDE CASES IN THE JURY COURTS OF THE CITY OF RIO DE JANEIROISABELLE DIANNE GIBSON PEREIRA 11 July 2022 (has links)
[en] The adoption of feminicide in Brazilian legislation represents, for the
feminist movement, the recognition of structural misogyny as the cause of these
violent deaths of women, enunciative of gender oppression through the law.
Furthermore, this naming would promote an essential change in the acting of the
justice system in the judgment of these crimes, previously held on the basis of
blaming the victim, on the moral judgment of her conduct and, consequently, on
gender discrimination. Therefore, based on Catharine Mackinnon s Feminist
Theory of the State and the parameters established by Law 13.104/15 and the
National Guidelines on Feminicide, the work intends to investigate the
incorporation of the gender perspective in feminicide trials in the Jury Courts of the
City of Rio de Janeiro, which occurred after the entry into force of that law.

[pt] MULHERES EM MOVIMENTO: TERRITORIALIDADE, PARTICIPAÇÃO COMUNITÁRIA E PRÁTICAS DE RESISTÊNCIA NA FAVELA DA ROCINHA, NA CIDADE DO RIO DE JANEIRO (2007-2021) / [en] WOMEN ON THE MOVE: TERRITORIALITY, LOCAL COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND RESISTANCE PRACTICES IN FAVELA DA ROCINHA, IN THE CITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO (2007-2021)FERNANDA SOBREIRO E CRUZ 30 May 2022 (has links)
A pesquisa utilizou procedimentos
[en] This thesis aims to analyze the lives of women living in Favela da Rocinha,
in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, questioning the ways and possibilities of acting
and resisting the daily processes of oppression and how the territory influences and
often delimits their daily experience. The study was carried out from the year of
2007, which marks the beginning of the federal government s Program for
Accelerating Urban Growth-Urbanization of Precarious Settlements (PAC-UAP),
to the present day. The object of this research is, then, women s territoriality, i. e.,
how women s deliberate actions and daily practices to resist oppression shape the
stigmatized territory of the squatter settlement, despite violence and the absence of
the State, which considers this territory as not belonging to the city. This thesis
intends to analyze women s actions that reconfigure the favela s territory through
resistance practices and participation in political collectives and NGOs. The favela
Rocinha in Rio de Janeiro, was chosen as the universe of analysis for the important
role of women as social and political activists since the beginning of the settlement
of this neighborhood, which has a long history of community mobilization and
fighting for rights. The research utilizes dialectical and inductive methodological
procedures, through the articulation of concepts from feminist critical theory with
participant observation in local group meetings in Rocinha. As a result, it is
expected that the research will contribute from a gender perspective to the
elaboration of public policies, projects and strategies for the upgrading projects of
slums that take into account the issues of women in these territories.

[pt] PELA TEKOHIZAÇÃO DA VIDA: CORPO, TERRITÓRIO E AS DINÂMICAS DE (IN)SEGURANÇA DE MULHERES INDÍGENAS NOS ESTUDOS CRÍTICOS DE SEGURANÇA NAS RELAÇÕES INTERNACIONAIS / [en] THE TEKOHIZAÇÃO OF LIFE: BODY, TERRITORY AND INDIGENOUS WOMEN S DYNAMICS OF (IN)SECURITY ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS CRITICAL SECURITY STUDIESRAFAELA MAIA CARVALHO 14 October 2021 (has links)
[en] The present work aims to unveil the terms in which the physical and ontological security (thought as practice and discipline) must be articulated on International Relations scholarship to respond to the demands of indigenous women. Departing from a decolonial and anti-colonial theoretical discussion, I seek to fill the existing disciplinary gap regarding the discussion of the different forms of violence inscribed on the bodies of indigenous women as part of the colonial legacy in the modern state. To this end, this work articulates Célia Xakriabá s concept of corpo-território (2018) as a central axis for understanding the ways in which the State and the International act in the creation of frontiers between life and death over indigenous bodies and territories. Based on a feminist and decolonial methodology, the theoretical discussion is empirically illustrated with the case of women from the Guarani-Kaiowá people and their territorial and bodily autonomy demands. In this sense, this work unfolds from two related questions: how do indigenous women articulate the relationship between body, territory and security? And how does this form of articulation allow us to reframe the approach about the body and territory in the feminist critical security literature in International Relations? By answering these questions, this work demonstrates that it is not possible to think about indigenous women s dynamics of (in)security without considering the corporeal-territorial dimensions of their resistance.

[en] Who can be an adopted parent in Brazil? Who can be adopted? The present
thesis aims to present a study on gender binarity, based on the analysis of the
adoption institute of Brazil s Family Law, using it as a key to enter the
cisheteronormative matrix, in order to verify how the constructions of subjectivity
are crossed by the established norms. The idea investigated is that the Law would
not only be a reflection of society, but that it would also constitute, through its
normative field, a matrix of naturalization and subjugation, a gender power.
Thus, initially the ideas of gender binarity and cisheteronormativity are
characterized, with the analysis of their overlap with the affects, taking the queer
theory as reference, through the works of Judith Butler - influenced by the
theories of Spinoza and Foucault. With this, the aim is to understand how the
binary system of sexual categories that each individual is determined at birth
affects us. Then, the appropriation of affections by Law as a gender power is
specifically analyzed, showing how, through the principles of affectivity and
socio-affectivity, the ideas of socio-affective filiation and parentality and the
influences of Canon and Roman Laws, the structure of a gender binary was
constructed in the adoption institute of Brazil s Family Law. Based on this
observation, the research follows with the study of the genealogy of this institute
and the fictions created from it, such as the National Adoption Register, observing
its conformation to a structure that, since its genesis, has been gendered and
sexualized, aiming to maintain a binary adoption. By following a qualitative
methodology, the thesis has a critical study of the speeches contained in eight
Family Law manuals, builders of this field of Law in Brazil. It examines the uses
that these works, published between 2015 and 2020, attribute to the words gender
and adoption, in order to understand the (re)creation of the mechanisms of the
gender binarity. In addition, the research performs a documental analysis of the
jurisprudence and legislation of adoption and the institutes related to it, as well as an empirical investigation through participant observations in seven meetings of
Adoption Support Groups and conversations with operators of the legal system in
cities of Rio de Janeiro. With the exam of the narratives of the meetings, it was
possible to observe people s relations with gender binarity in issues involving
adoption. On the other hand, analyzing the discourse of five legal professionals, it
was understood how the categories gender and affection are appropriate and
operationalized in order to keep in operation, through these actors, the
mechanisms of the cistem. Finally, using Civil Constitutional Law as a lens, the
thesis reaches the result that Law constitutes a structure that imposes, in its
normativity, a process of genderfication and sexualization of the subjects to which
it aims to represent and attribute legal effects. For this reason, the work is
committed to serve as a tool of social justice, assisting in the agency of subversive
performances; recognizing them, to help them leave the precarious zone which
they are subjected to.

[en] BECAUSE THEY LOOK LIKE GIRLS OR ACT LIKE GIRLS: ERASURE OF NON-BINARY IDENTITIES IN TRANSLATIONS OF THE HOUSEKI NO KUNI MANGA / [pt] PORQUE ELAS APARENTAM SER MENINAS OU AGEM COMO MENINAS: APAGAMENTO DE IDENTIDADES NÃO-BINÁRIAS EM TRADUÇÕES DO MANGÁ HOUSEKI NO KUNIFELIPE DUARTE PINHEIRO 27 April 2021 (has links)
[en] The research entitled Because they look like girls or act like girls: erasure of non-binary identities in translations of the Houseki no kuni manga analyzes five translations of the referred manga - two professional translations, one into English and one into French ; and three amateur translations, one into Portuguese, one into Spanish and one into English - and how they dealt with the non-binary gender of the characters. The objective was to examine the ways in which cis-heteronormative ideologies and hegemonic translation ideologies can lead to the erasure of LGBTQAI (plus) identities. The analysis of the data showed that all the translations to Neo-Latin languages, as well as the amateur translation into English designated a gender to the characters. In the case of Neo-Latin languages, the analysis of meta and paratexts suggests that the grammatical gender of these languages played an important role in erasing the non-binary gender of the characters. However, there was also evidence of the influence of cis-heteronormative ideologies in the choice of translation strategies employed. Among the translations analyzed, only the professional translation into English did not designate a gender to the characters. However, the analysis of metatextual sources revealed that translation ideologies related to the idea of fluency were behind the translation strategies used, resulting in a translation that maintains the non-binary gender of the characters, but does not make it visible. By studying the cis-heteronormative and translation ideologies that underlie the translation strategies employed, this research contributes to understand how LGBTQAI (plus) identities can be easily erased in translations and propose ways to make them visible in order to fight cis-heteronormative hegemony.

[en] BETWEEN THE BANDIT AND THE WORKER: MEDIATION, IDEOLOGY AND MORAL IN THE AFTERNOON POLICE NEWS / [pt] ENTRE O BANDIDO E O TRABALHADOR: MEDIAÇÃO, IDEOLOGIA E MORAL NO TELEJORNAL POLICIAL VESPERTINOJULIA LERY MIRANDA 03 November 2022 (has links)
[en] Starting from the widely accepted notion today that the spectator is an active part in the communication process (although the relationship between an oligopolistic media and its audience is asymmetric), this research has, as main question, the reasons for the complicity and collusion of the audience with the exclusionary and violent discourses uttered in afternoon police news. Thus, we studied the mediation of Brasil Urgente for an extended period, from 2003 to 2020, in order to apprehend continuities and ruptures in the discourse as parts of a process of circulation of meanings, which speaks of the connection between the television product and society. The thesis goes through an investigation of the television genre and its cultural matrices, in search of traditions maintained or broken by the program; a reflection on institutional violence, to understand the origins of the discourses of violence defended in Brasil Urgente; and an examination of the relations between politics and narrative, in order to understand the populist reason of the speeches, the role of social class in the categorization of the individuals portrayed and the criteria of truth that support the positions of the program and the presenter - central figure in the afternoon police news. The research develops a materialist methodology of discourse analysis, which places it in historical perspective, observes the power struggles and the viewer s interpellation by the program. This methodology, added to the use of the television genre as an analytical operator, aims to apprehend, beyond the text, the social relations that it proposes and establishes.

[en] This discursive research analyzes how decisions about house arrest for women, mothers of children under 12 years of age and/or pregnant women are constructed discursively by judges. It is based on national laws and rules such as the Article 318 of the Brazilian Code of Criminal Procedure (Artigo 318 do Código de Processo Penal brasileiro), the Child and Adolescent Statute (Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente), the Habeas Corpus 143.641/SP with the Supreme Court (Supremo Tribunal Federal) decision and the international Bangkok Rules - United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-Custodial Measures for Women Offenders – of which Brazil is a signatory, in order to analyze a corpus consisting of 16 Judgments, between the years of 2017 and 2019, of the district of the city of Rio de Janeiro, for cases of granting or not of house arrest as an alternative penalty. Decisions at first instance are referenced at some moments of the analysis with regard of the entextualizations made by professionals during legal proceedings. The laws and official documents mentioned above are also analyzed. This is a discursive, qualitative- interpretative and interdisciplinary analysis, which articulates the studies of language and law in the field of Applied Linguistics, and more specifically to Forensic Linguistics. After evaluating the socio-historical relationship between motherhood, feminism and imprisonment, describing the judgment as a textual gender with support of the perspectives of chronotope, legal chronotope and entextualization, the discursive lens of this thesis turns, with the support of the Appraisal System, to the evaluative and moral indicators on the female behavior shown in the decisions. Although national and international rules converge to (i) the importance of interaction between mother and child in early childhood; (ii) the specificities in relation to the arrest of women and pregnant women and (iii) the criticism of female incarceration that has been increasing considerably in Brazil and worldwide, what is observed, as the research results, is that: (i) the discourses constructed by the judges are often moralizing, based on the idea that women lose the ability to be a mother once they commit an offence; (ii) the judges disregard the discourses present in the existing norms and laws, maintaining the punitive orientation that directly contributes to the increase in the number of women incarcerated in Brazil.

A partir daí, proponho
analisar o lugar ocupado pelas identidades jovens, negras e periféricas brasileiras
[en] The present doctoral thesis aims to reflect the discourse of the new manof western fashion and its media representations. From there, I propose to analyze the place occupied by young, black and brazilian peripheral identities in this space. For this, I carry out a literature review on the notion of gender in the West as a social construction, in order to think about the social hierarchies of masculinities. Then, I present the new man and contextualize the scenario of its emergence, identifying its different marketing categories. Then, I use the theory of social representations to think about the ways in which the media and fashion represent black bodies, establishing the black identities residing in Rio s favelas as a cut. Finally, I chose Mangueira favela, located in the north of Rio de Janeiro, to establish a comparison between these media images of the young favelado with the ways and fashions of young people from Mangueira posted on the social network Instagram.

[es] ADOPCIÓN CON DOBLE PATERNIDAD DESDE UNA PERSPECTIVA QUEER / [pt] ADOÇÃO COM DUPLA PATERNIDADE DESDE UMA PERSPECTIVA QUEERFELIPE ANDRES RODRIGUEZ STUARDO 14 December 2023 (has links)
Judith Butler e Paul B. Preciado.
