[en] DETERMINATION OF THE TRANSIENT CHARACTERISTICS OF A PH ELECTROCHEMICAL ANALYSER: METROLOGICAL QUALIFICATION / [pt] DETERMINAÇÃO DAS CARACTERÍSTICAS TRANSIENTES DE UM MEDIDOR DE PH: QUALIFICAÇÃO METROLÓGICAELCIO CRUZ DE OLIVEIRA 21 November 2001 (has links)
[en] The electrochemical analysers available in the market
assert trustworthy values applicable in a specific
uncertainty range, which varies depending on the unit`s
model.Nevertheless, rarely is given any information on the
time necessary to reach these values, which depend on the
answer of the instrument. This Master`s dissertation aims
to develop an experimental theoretical methodology to
evaluate the performance of the transducer in transient
conditions, and obtain some typical values for commercial
analysers, and its answer in the pH measurements in
simulated chemical reactions in various reaction velocities.
Through the qualified model, the errors due to the
permanent and transient answers were evaluated,
establishing the conditions pH electronic units can be
used, in a pre-set controlled error, from the comparison
between real pH values and displayed pH values in the
analysers, considering the temperature and the reaction
time.

[en] LISTENING TO LANGUAGE: HEIDEGGER AND PESSOA / [pt] À ESCUTA DA LINGUAGEM: HEIDEGGER E PESSOAVANIA LUCIA KAMPFF 04 May 2021 (has links)
[en] The dissertation Listening to language: Heidegger and Pessoa seeks, as the title suggests, to bring Martin Heidegger s philosophical thinking closer to Fernando Pessoa s poetic language on the quest of an original language. We seek to develop a study that has, as its premise, the thought left by the thinker-poet
unfolding in the language of the poet-thinker. From the shadow of this inapparent relationship, we envision a path that unveils the interweaving of the various strands of the writing of one and the poetry of the other in the thinking of the poetic construction of an original language, understood from a founding experience of
language. It is a saying that makes it appear, a place where the word is the principle of reality, an appearing that in its immediacy becomes original language, becomes poetics of language, the place of saying. Both philosopher and poet make us understand that our being in the world is totally permeated by an experience of meaning, in which we are always inserted. On this, something happens from a vital
imperative: man disappears, there is only surrender, abandonment to the dimension of transcendence, there is only waiting and listening unfolding in openness, so as to give vent to the other who summons to the consecration of the instant.

[pt] O PROBLEMA DO TEMPO EM OS DETETIVES SELVAGENS, DE ROBERTO BOLAÑO / [en] THE PROBLEM OF TIME IN ROBERTO BOLAÑO S THE SAVAGE DETECTIVESCAIO MARQUES PECANHA 03 January 2024 (has links)
[en] This work claims that Roberto Bolaño s The savage detectives features
the problem of time in three major procedures. The time of return, the time of
polyphony and the time of construction. Ever since Gyorg Lukács notorious
remark, according to which, given the separation between meaning and life, one
could almost state that the entire inner action of the novel is nothing but a
struggle against the power of time, unveiling it as a constitutive principle of form,
the matter has become mandatory for the debate over the form of the novel. Split
into three chapters, the intermediate one consisting in a set of interviews collected
over two decades (1976-96) and the remaining two Juan García Madero s diary,
which portrays the last months of 1975 as well as the early months of the
following year, Roberto Bolaño s book takes shape not only through the
similarities and dissimilarities between the stories but also due to the original and
rather complex experiences of time elicited by them, subject of our study, which,
therefore, aims at a philosophical approach - through names such as Lukács,
Adorno and Rancière - of Bolaño s The savage detectives.

[pt] A TRAMA E A URDIDURA EM GRANDE SERTÃO: VEREDAS – BENJAMIN RELAMPEJA NO SERTÃO ROSEANO / [en] THE WARP AND THE WOOF IN THE DEVIL TO PAY IN THE BACKLANDS: BENJAMIN FLASHES IN ROSA S BACKLANDSLIVIA DE SA BAIAO 29 August 2016 (has links)
Baudelaire. Nesses ensaios Benjamin levanta questões fundamentais a respeito
da memória, do esquecimento, da experiência (Erfahrung) e da vivência
(Erlebnis) entrelaçando-as com narrativa, temporalidade e modernidade. A
[en] The proposal of this thesis is to read The devil to pay in the backlands, by João Guimarães Rosa, through Walter Benjamin s eyes using, as intercessors, two texts by Walter Benjamin: The image of Proust and On some motifs in Baudelaire. In those two essays, Benjamin raises fundamental questions about memory, forgetting, experience (Erfahrung) and lived experience (Erlebnis), intertwining them with issues such as narrative, time and modernity. The aim is to explore how those issues permeate The devil to pay in the backlands and consider if Rosa was close to artificially reproducing experience (Erfahrung) through his poetic writing, like Proust and Baudelaire, based on the concepts developed by Benjamin in the aforementioned essays. Given the electives affinities identified between Rosa and Benjamin, the intention is to consider if Rosa could be one more star in Benjamin s constellation of writers. As will be shown, Rosa and Benjamin are two mystic, mythic writers that put language above all and see literature as a means of exploring philosophical and metaphysical questions.

[en] BORDERLINE CASES: TRAUMA AND TIME IN PSYCHOANALYSIS / [pt] CASOS-LIMITE: TRAUMA E TEMPO EM PSICANÁLISELUIZA GOMES MENDES 25 April 2024 (has links)
princípio do prazer.
além do princípio do prazer.
temporalidade. / [en] The purpose of this dissertation is to reflect on the dimensions of trauma
and time, the importance of their intertwining in the fabric of the freudian work,
and their repercussions in contemporary psychoanalytic practice. The theme of
trauma emerges in the freudian theory from the earliest writings but loses
prominence in favor of the theory of fantasy in the etiology of neuroses,
reappearing with full force in 1920 in connection with the death drive. In our
analysis, we emphasize this return of the notion of trauma in 1920, with the essay
Beyond the Pleasure Principle. During this period, freudian theory began to be
guided by a perspective of individual and group subjectivity, whose functioning is
governed by a beyond the pleasure principle. This moment, also called the second
topography, has two pivotal points: traumatic neuroses and the death drive, which
differ from the investigative bases that were prevalent until then. When we expand
the question of trauma to the contemporary scene, we wonder where this notion
fits today. In the current psychoanalytic debate, we observe an increase in
configurations of traumatic origin, called borderline cases, which are highly
relevant for the field as they point to the presence of a traumatic basis. However,
defining what is at stake in the new contemporary configurations presents itself as
a complex challenge that implies working with the relationship with trauma and
other dimensions, such as time. In this direction, borderline cases represent a path
through which another dimension of temporality appears, which resonates with
the time of trauma. It is therefore proposed to investigate the notion of time in
order to understand that in psychoanalysis there are not only one but several forms
of expression of temporality.

[en] The main objective of this research is to analyze the cinematographic strategies that are features of filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar s work. Specifically, our aim will be the relations of the cultural
intersection zones that reveal new ways in which one lives in the contemporary world. For that matter, this study creates a discussion of various elements present in the primary source: the last
film by Almodóvar released in the international market, Volver (2006). This dissertation is based on three points that are also the main focus of each chapter: the first being the different forms of dealing and
experimenting with the notion of time; the second, the reconfiguration of the melodrama and the high art / mass culture division; and finally the third, the spacial construction of the film and the representation of the city.

[en] GEOMECHANICAL MODEL APPLIED TO THE STABILITY ANALYSIS OF WELLS WITH ENPHASIS ON SHALES / [pt] MODELO GEOMECÂNICO APLICADO À ANÁLISE DE ESTABILIDADE DE POÇOS COM ÊNFASE EM FOLHELHOSSANDRA MILENA ROSERO ARGOTE 02 August 2013 (has links)
[en] Facing the increasing complexity of scenarios for oil exploration, the conventional stability analysis became insufficient to determine the actual condition of the wells. Aware of these limitations, the oil industry has been applying new methods such as the geomechanical model named Mechanical Earth Model – MEM, which has been applied on the prediction of wellbore stability and drilling risks mitigation. In this sense, this work presents a methodology for estimating the wellbore stability conditions of wells with special emphasis on shale formations, through the identification and assessment of events which indicate geomechanical instability during drilling. These data are available from daily drilling reports and electric logs. Well Stability problems are responsible for most non-productive time, and consequently, the extra drilling costs. Therefore, the study and understanding of these problems contribute to the drilling optimization, thus improving the practices or mitigating the effects of severe abnormalities.

[en] AN ARCHITECTURE TO TAME TIME TARDINESS IN MULTIAGENT BASED SIMULATIONS / [pt] UMA ARQUITETURA PARA CONTROLE DE ATRASOS DE TEMPO EM SIMULAÇÕES BASEADAS EM SISTEMAS MULTIAGENTESPIER GIOVANNI TARANTI 05 November 2013 (has links)
Java. / [en] Virtual Environment Simulations (VES) are a special type of simulation,
often used to implement games and serious games with virtual space
representation and using both the next-event or stepped–time simulation time
advance approach. An example of serious games is the simulation used to
support War Games. Multiagent Based Simulation (MABS) are suitable to
implement these simulations because of their ability to handle with complexity
and individual actors modeling. However, when agents are responsible for
advance their own simulation time, a situation similar to a parallel simulation
arises. This implies in treat issues such as delays in performing scheduled
actions (i.e tardiness) and its consequences in the virtual space representations.
This situation is worst in Java based MABS, because of Java technology
particularities. This work presents an approach to tame this tardiness and help
the development of these cited VES using agent oriented paradigm.

[en] EXPRESSIVE TALKING HEADS: EXPRESSIVE TALKING HEADS: A STUDY ON SPEECH AND FACIAL EXPRESSION IN VIRTUAL CHARACTERS / [pt] EXPRESSIVE TALKING HEADS: UM ESTUDO DE FALA E EXPRESSÃO FACIAL EM PERSONAGENS VIRTUAISPAULA SALGADO LUCENA RODRIGUES 01 June 2005 (has links)
[en] The human face is interesting and challenging mainly
because of its familiarity. Essentially, it is the part of
the human body that is used to recognize individuals. As
well as the face, the speech is an important instrument
for human communication, allowing the exteriorization of
thoughts and the definition of emotions. Together, speech
and face are the main elements of interactivity among
human beings. However, the natural and faithful
reproductions of the pecularities of these elements in the
computational universe is not a simple task, constituting
topics of the research in the diverse areas, particularly
in facial animation.
Among the diverse types of facial animation systems
developed, those that involve the facial animation of the
virtual character combined with speech synchronization are
distinguished as directly related to this work. These
kinds of systems are known as talking head or talking face.
Fot the development of a talking head system, it is
necessary to identify the possible approaches for the
speech and face modeling. The models used will influence
not only the way that the animation is performed, but it
will also affect the system´s interactivity. An important
contribution of the present master thesis is the study of
several possible approaches for the main elements and the
proposal of taxonomy for the classification of the talking
head systems.
From the proposed taxonomy and making use of one approach
for each analyzed paramenter, an application was developed
that receives as input a text composed by the character s
speech and genus, language and emotion parameters, and it
generates as output, in real time, the animation of a
virtual character uttering the input text with speech
synchronization and expressiveness. The system developed,
called Expressive Talking Heads, explores the naturalness
of facial animation and it seeks to offer the user a real-
time interactivity interface. The Expressive Talking Heads
system can run as a stand-alone applicattion or connected
to web browsers. It was designed and developed to provide
a platform and operating system independent solution.
