At first, considering the Jauss? approach of Aesthetics of Reception, it was considered the proper intention of the play?s poetical speeches, situating their potential meanings as something mediated by the rhetorical and poetical devices of Early Modern European literary genres. Therefore, it is not a matter of this work speculating about the intentions of 'Quevedo' as an individual or psychological author. We have thought that the romantic-liberal readings on the play have harmed its proper epochal meanings, creating anachronistic perceptions. Then, from the play?s structural tropics, or from its rhetorical-poetical forms and motives, and also considering its contextual functions as dramatic genre proper to solace of Spanish court and its King, we have analyzed the function of valimento as main play?s theme. We have build the comprehension that the play is formed by scenic poetical dialogues that dramatize the valido as an ideal king?s chief counselor conforming to the current expectations shaped in the renaissance genre Mirror for Magistrates, such as Castiglione?s The Book of the Courtier.

No. of bitstreams: 1 JOSÉ DONIZETE FRAGA.pdf: 875290 bytes, checksum: 3b6860a5791718cc3b4d6d196ab6eade (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-02-20 / This dissertation aims at the study of dissonance as one of the characters forming the poetics of Fyodor Dostoevsky in the corpus The Brothers Karamazov. Its internal structure is based on the dialogue between the aesthetic definition of the literary work of art, its reception and aesthetic effect and the correlation with the Dostoevskian work. It proposes a hermeneutic and phenomenological approach, with the theoretical support of Edmund Husserl and assisted by Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Mikel Dufrenne and Hans- Georg Gadamer. An analysis of his poetics is also made in the light of aesthetic reception and effect, with the theoretical support of Hans Robert Jauss and other researchers of the reception aesthetics, Wolfgang Iser, Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht and Karlheinz Stierle. The dissonant bias is addressed in the thematic composition of the work, in the structure of the characters and in the internal economy of the narrative. There are several critical looks on the work, highlighting Mikhail Bakhtin, Joseph Frank, Luiz Felipe Pondé and Luigi Pareyson.

Giovanni Papini iconoclasta e religioso: diferentes fases da recepção do escritor florentino no Brasil / Giovanni Papini the iconoclast and the religious: different stages of the Florentine writers reception in Brazil

Silva, Aline Fogaça dos Santos Reis e 05 December 2017 (has links)
The literary career of Giovanni Papini can be divided into two phases: the iconoclast and the catholic. The present research aims to test the reception of the Florentine writer in Brazil, through his works translated into Brazilian Portuguese and by the survey of notes, reviews, short stories and articles published in some of the major national newspapers. In the beginning, he is read and discussed, especially by modernist intellectuals, in the clash between Italian Futurism and Brazilian Modernism; later, through the translation approach, mainly by religious themed works. As the theoretical foundation of the analysis, concepts relating to translation studies are discussed, as literary polysystem, patronage, rewritten and gatekeeping, developed in the studies of Itamar Even-Zohar, André Lefevere and Susan Bassnett. Similarly, relations that are established between writer and readers are thought from the perspective of the theories of aesthetics of reception related to the History and Sociology of Literature, in the studies of Hans Robert Jauss and Regina Zilberman.

Reception and Transformation of Zhuangzi¡¦s Philosophy in Taiwan¡¦s Modern Poetry

Ting, Hsu-hui 27 July 2009 (has links)
This study, conducted through an ¡¥aesthetics of reception¡¦ approach, analyzes the reception and transformation of Zhuangzi¡¦s philosophy in Taiwan¡¦s modern poetry, during the 1949 to 2008 period, with the focus on its development and accumulated value under Zhuangzi¡¦s influence. The value lies in the efforts of Taiwan¡¦s poets who inherited classical cultures from which they created a new spirit. This new spirit constructed the new aesthetics that paved the way for Taiwan¡¦s modern poetry (present and future), and even for Chinese poetry overall, in modern times. Chapters 2 and 3 respectively discuss how Taiwan¡¦s modern poetry received and transformed the fish and butterfly images in The Book of Zhuangzi. In Chapter 2, the metaphorical images in Taiwan¡¦s modern poetry, like the legendary Big Fish, the stranded fish trapped in a dry rut, spit on one another to stay wet, and small fish are also discussed with the conclusion reached that the images are actually projections, the poets¡¦ self-images. The fish images embody some significant archetypes and represent the aesthetics of self-forgetfulness. Chapter 3 discusses the butterfly images with metaphors of formless life, joys of rebirth, understanding of true self and the pursuit of reincarnation. The butterfly images also reflect significant archetypes and represent the concepts of metamorphosis and the anthropomorphic aesthetics of endowing objects with the philosophies of human beings. The archetypes and aesthetics of fish and butterfly images are also the key to evaluating the aesthetics in The Book of Zhuangzi. This key value has been influential in the reception and transformation of Zhuangzi¡¦s philosophy in Taiwan¡¦s modern poetry. Chapter 4 further explains that self-forgetfulness and the aesthetics of endowing objects with the philosophies of human beings can define the location of ¡¥I¡¦ in Zhuangzi¡¦s ¡§observing things by other things¡¨, the conceptual basis of Zhuangzi¡¦s insistence upon viewing all the natural beings from the same reflective perspective. These ideas not only served as spiritual nourishment for Taiwan¡¦s poets in hard times but also helped them to realize the unifying aesthetics: that all beings exist as a whole; this explains why Taiwan¡¦s modern poetry has a ¡¥self-forgetful¡¦ aesthetics in viewing things. It signifies a new stage of poetry and poetics in Taiwan. This study also labors on the interpretation of individual modern poems. Many excellent poems involving Zhuangzi¡¦s philosophy are considered difficult to interpret, which is mainly due to people¡¦s unfamiliarity with the allusions, images and thoughts in The Book of Zhuangzi. This study provides the methodology for interpreting poems involving Zhuangzi and provides approaches of such reading. In regard to modern poetry, it provides a basic and practical contribution. The Book of Zhuangzi has proven influential both to poets and modern poetry in general, in Taiwan, not only for the past 60 years but as the inspiration of a new spirit by enhancing the spiritual life of the whole of humanity.

Hans Robert Jauss, the highest exponent of this theoretical thinking, conceives the relationship between the reader and literature based on the aesthetic and historical character of the same. The author directs his research having as guiding idea the reconstruction of the historical process of each work; in this process, the reader is an indispensable piece because it portrays as responsible for the mediation between the past and the present. For Jauss, it is in constant change of the horizon of the reader s expectation that the evolution of the history of literature inscribes itself. Thus, the literary work enables the reader to develop a critical awareness in relation to their usual values and perspectives, in addition to enabling the expansion of its horizons in historical praxis. To this end, it was hold a bibliographical and documental research. The theoretical basis of the work contemplates names such as Hans Robert Jauss, Luiz Costa Lima, Junito Brandão de Souza, Albin Leski, Gerd Bornheim, Clovis Dias Massa, and others. In addition, it is made a qualitative approach through the analysis of interviews with the director Luiz Paulo Vasconcellos and the actress Sandra Dani, as well the analysis of critiques, reports and interviews published by the press at the time. The resulting analysis of this study verifies the position of the interviewees and journalistic critics and delineates the relationship between their horizon of expectation and the reception of the sophoclean work. In this sense, this research reveals that the theatrical performance in times of exception provides a unique moment of reflection and resistance, because it gives the opportunity to the public to widen the view and understanding of the historical time which it is a part of.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Pablo Ferreira Biglia.pdf: 1201526 bytes, checksum: 876717fdd17380b518260376f4862b0b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-09-29 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / My dissertation presents an analysis of the works of Adolfo Caminha and Caio Fernando Abreu, using the aesthetics of reception as a tool for deepening within the sexuality aspects about the literary texts. The objective is identify and analyze the homoerotic manifestations within the canon and the postmodern, using me the aesthetics of reception, ie, as we readers understand the books by directing that reading through the writings on sexuality. Sexuality still crawl within the study of social sciences, the humanities, the letters, it is so important in the study of homoerotic literature, standards seeking to deconstruct heteronormative taxes and social history throughout the ages. During the analysis of the novel naturalist "Bom Crioulo" and contemporary tales "Terça-Feira Gorda" and "Aqueles Dois," I could work with authors like Michel Foucault, Guacira Lopes Louro, Pierre Bourdieu, Richard Miskolci, Jean-Paul Sartre, Edward W. Said, among others, using their enlightening theories that served as the theoretical foundation of this work. I could realize, therefore, that literary works here to explore in detail the male homosexualities, working sometimes through the exercise of physical and symbolic violence, bringing to light reflection from the perspective of men who desire other men in different historical contexts through different literary genres. We, the readers, are fundamental elements within the literary hermeneutics which I proposed on this paper.
