Pandemic Politics As A Holocaust 2.0? : The Perception Of The Holocaust In Telegram-Communications Of German Covid-Protesters

Golombek, Moritz January 2022 (has links)
Embedding itself in the larger discussion on protests against measures taken by governments all over the world to mitigate the effects of the covid-19 pandemic, this work concerns itself with the role of the Holocaust in narratives found in prominent Telegram channels and chat groups of German covid-protests. Building on the existing body of research, it uses the theoretical framework of New Social Movement (NSM) theory to categorise the protests in Germany. Choosing a mixed-methods design, the phenomenon is described using narrative analysis, computer-assisted coding, and elements of network analysis. The narrative analysis and results of computer-assisted coding, find that the Holocaust is narrated as a valid comparison to pandemic politics, while some Telegram channels engage in historical revisionism. The network analysis reveals a large network of Telegram channels, strengthening the importance of the analysed channels for the protests in Germany

QANON : Från intressegrupp till statskupp / QANON : From interest group to coup'd etat

Törnquist, Johannes, Hägglund, Leeloo January 2021 (has links)
This study aims to dive deeper into the specific structure, propagation and adaptability of the American alt-right political movement QAnon’s underlying narrative through the lens of “Digital Storytelling”. The method employed being a holistic narrative analysis. Utilizing data collected from the image boards 4chan, 8chan and 8kun we look at a large narrative specifically centered around Donald Trump’s presidency. By gaining a more thorough understanding of the narrative techniques employed to create said narrative, this study will highlight resilient and recurring structures within the QAnon movement. Our findings show that the movement through the application of several characteristic features of digital storytelling have created a highly adaptable narrative. The cryptic nature of messaging used by the movements original author has through the instance of “decoding”, allowed a range of different interpretations to flourish. We identify three key factors connected to the success of the QAnon narrative, these being, 1: An authentic message, created through both hidden and visible feedback. 2: An elastic and resilient narrative, formed through iterative interpretations of coded messages. 3: A tight knitted group-identity, reinforced by the self-classifying as underdogs.

Studie- och yrkesvägledares arbetes arbete med barn och unga inom särskolan / Career guidance counselors work with children and young people in the special school

Veizaga, Caroline January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this study is to learn more about the work of study- and career counselors in compulsory special school or upper secondary special school. The questions asked are about their work with the students and their parents, or other guardians, as well as other related subjects. The background to the study is largely that many young adults with an education in the special school end up without any organised occupation and consequently in social exclusion, which raised the questions addressed in this study. The study was conducted through interviews over a span of approximately one year. Due to the nature of the questions, a qualitative study method was deemed to be most appropriate. Thus, this is a qualitative study with a hermeneutic character and an ambition to increase the understanding of the subject. The results generated by the interviews reflect the complexity and the joys that come with working with a group that is vulnerable in different ways and to different degrees. The conclusions of the study was that study- and career counselors may need to work to support the empowerment of students who partake in special education in a world that has caused, or strongly contributed to, negative associations with such education and/or intellectual disabilities. This is an area where study and career counselors can contribute, based on their role and their working conditions, to a positive change.

The Alt-Right and Agenda Setting Theory : A study of online news outlets and magazines

Wetzelaer, Luka January 2023 (has links)
The Alt-Right is a movement that became very mainstream and this article’s research is about how often the Alt-Right movement has been mentioned in online news articles and magazines. Previous articles have researched how the Alt-Right has spread its presence on online forums and social media pages, what is written on these online forums where the Alt-Right has a presence and what their main ideas and ideology is. However, this does not explain why the Alt-Right ever became mainstream and why news outlets started reporting on the movement. The method used to research how often the Alt-Right has been reported on by online news outlets and magazines is a corpus-case study. The two corpora used for this article are the Corpus of Contemporary American English and the News on the Web corpus. The theory used to discuss the findings of the article is Agenda Setting Theory. Contrary to what might be assumed, the Alt-Right has not only a presence in right-leaning media but is reported on by news outlets from all across the political spectrum, and some online news outlets and magazines stand out.

New peptid-mimicking scaffolds

Hartwig, Sebastian 19 June 2009 (has links)
Inspired by the naturally occurring antibiotics of the Gramicidin family and their d-(alt)-l amino acid sequence, enabling these oligopeptides to adopt a beta–helical secondary structure, the work presented in this thesis targeted the syn-thesis and characterization of peptides and diverse pseudopeptides with regular all-l and d-(alt)-l sequences and the influence of this stereochemical variation on the compounds’ structures and properties. Further diversification of the struc-tures as obtained by replacing amide bonds in the peptide backbone with differ-ent isosteres, affording unique pseudopeptide structures. In addition spherical molecules were generated by introducing branching into the linear peptide scaf-fold. Throughout all projects, the aim was the design and synthesis of discrete oligomers for structural investigations and the incorporation of the respective structural elements into polymers via the polymerization of suitable monomers, in order to generate nanoscale macromolecular and supramolecular objects. The divergent/convergent synthesis of a series of oligo-d-(alt)-l-lysines targeted the generation of hydrophilic, pH-sensitive nanotubular structures. The stepwise replacement of peptide backbone amide bonds with ester-(alt)-urea moieties afforded all-l and d-(alt)-l oligopseudoleucines with 50% and 0% amide content. The design, synthesis, and polymerization of an AB-“Click”-monomer, based on all-l and l-(alt)-d lysine dipeptides afforded high molecular weight, triazole con-taining polypseudopeptides. Quantitative coupling to pyrene butyric acid afforded the respective side chain labeled polymers. The introduction of branching into glutamate peptides afforded fully chiral den-drimers with addressable focal and peripheral functionalities and variable charge density. The design, synthesis, and polymerization of a glutamate based AB2-“Click”-monomer led to related chiral hyperbranched polypseudopeptides.

Analysis of small business social responsibility practices in South Africa

Masarira, Spiwe Kursawa 06 1900 (has links)
Social responsibility (SR) is a business management concept that originated in the early 1930s after the Wall Street crash of 1929 exposed corporate irresponsibility in large organizations. Whilst the initial interpretation of SR has been modified and refined since it was first used, the significance of this multidimensional concept for the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector has continued to be overshadowed by its application to large and multinational organizations. The knowledge of social activities in the SME sector, particularly in South Africa, has remained unexplored due to relatively little attention being given until recent years. In cognizance of the above mentioned, this study wishes to expand the body of knowledge in respect of the social responsibility of small businesses. This study presented a qualitative content analysis of annual reports from 2008 to 2012 of companies listed on the JSE ALT exchange to explore small business social responsibility practices using NVIVO to analyze data. Findings from this study support the view that small businesses are not always profit driven and that they are therefore fundamentally distinct from large organizations. South African small businesses are however not yet strategic about SR. Creating and maintaining their reputation as good corporate citizens through relationships with stakeholders is their primary motivation for participating in social activities. The study results show that SR in small businesses is still evolving and that year after year there is an increase in involvement and interest in SR issues. The findings of this study, and confirmation of the new knowledge gained will assist policy makers and practitioners in designing plans and policies that will increase socially responsible behaviour of small businesses and develop a comprehensive theory of SR in small businesses in South Africa. This can potentially enhance inclusive economic growth while simultaneously dealing with the country’s socio economic problems. Future studies can be extended to include other SMEs in South Africa, specifically micro enterprises and comparisons formed by a larger population may demonstrate and explain trends more clearly. The results of this study can also be compared with large companies listed on the JSE and to other African economies. A longitudinal study investigating SMEs’ participation in SR in different economic conditions could test the fact that a change has occurred in the attitudes of small businesses from 2008 to 2012 towards social responsibility / Business Management / D.B.L

Deutsch-Polnischer-Workshop: Analyse der Aufbereitungsbedingungen und der Eigenschaftscharakteristik von Kompositwerkstoffen der Typen Kunststoffe und TSE-Gummimehl

Mennig, Günter, Michael, Hannes 15 November 2006 (has links) (PDF)

Settlement Patterns Of Altinova In The Early Bronze Age

Dikkaya, Fahri 01 December 2003 (has links) (PDF)
This study aims to investigate the settlement patterns of Altinova in the Early Bronze Age and its reflection to social and cultural phenomena. Altinova, which is the most arable plain in Eastern Anatolia, is situated in the borders of Elazig province. The region in the Early Bronze Age was the conjunction and interaction area for two main cultural complexes in the Near East, which were Syro-Mesopotamia and Transcaucasia, with a strong local character. The effect of the foreign and local cultural interactions to the settlement patterns of Altinova in the Early Bronze Age and its reflection in the socio-economic structures have been discussed in the social perspective. In addition, the settlement distribution and its system were analyzed through the quantitative methods, that were gravity model, rank-size analysis, and nearest neighbor analysis. The results of these quantitative analyses with the archaeological data have been discussed in the social and theoretical context.
