Esse estudo investiga as transformações nas visões de mundo presentes às narrativas e práticas cotidianas de habitantes de territórios urbanos situados às margens da água, as ilhas do Delta do Jacuí, na Região Metropolitana da capital do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre. Em meio a uma situação de conflito de uso de terras e águas na cidade, busca-se compreender como ações cotidianas dos moradores no ambiente urbano e suas representações quanto ao seu pertencimento diferenciado à paisagem urbana de Porto Alegre podem ser interpretados no contexto das tendências contemporâneas de reestruturação de relações sociais e reorientação de comportamentos para construção de uma cidadania ambientalmente comprometida com a preservação e recuperação dos ambientes naturais do planeta. Valendo-se do registro e da montagem de narrativas audiovisuais, a pesquisa voltou-se para a importância da experiência urbana desses sujeitos e da memória coletiva na compreensão das diferentes dimensões éticas que estão em jogo na visão ecossistêmica das relações entre indivíduo, ambiente e sociedade. A partir de seus itinerários urbanos, presentes às suas trajetórias sociais, investiga-se a relação entre seus sentimentos de enraizamento nas comunidades das ilhas e o reconhecimento de sua pertença a esferas sociais mais amplas, como a Região Metropolitana, a Região Hidrográfica e de uma forma geral, à Biosfera. / This thesis approaches the transformations in the world view that are present in the narratives and the daily practices of the residents of territories located on the margins of the water, the islands of the Delta do Jacuí, in the Metropolitan Area of the State of Rio Grande do Sul's capital, Porto Alegre, Brazil. Amid a situation of conflict of use of land and water in the city, we have interpreted the residents' daily actions in the urban environment and their representations of their belonging to the urban landscape of Porto Alegre on the context of the contemporary tendencies of restructuring of social relationships and reorientation of behaviors for construction of a citizenship committed to the preservation and recovery of the natural environment of the planet. Using the recording and the editing of audiovisual narratives, the research went back to the importance of the urban experience of those subjects and of the collective memory in the understanding of the different ethical dimensions of the ecossistemic point of view about the relationships among individual, environment and society. The study investigates their urban itineraries that are present in their social trajectories, their belonging to the communities of the islands and the recognition of their relationships to wider social spheres, as the Metropolitan Region, the Hydrographic Region and in general, to the Biosphere.

Esta pesquisa insere-se no campo de discussão da Antropologia Urbana e Visual. Busquei conhecer a composição de redes de solidariedade de emergência formadas como alternativa para enfrentar a situação de crise advinda da enchente de 2008 no Vale de Itajaí, SC. A enchente vivenciada propiciou a emergência de novas redes de interação e sociabilidade que podem ser definidas como relações de reciprocidade e solidariedade entre os indivíduos envolvidos. A construção dessas redes de solidariedade de caráter emergencial está fundamentada teoricamente na perspectiva de Larissa Lomnitz que, ao estudar comunidades populares, destacou sua centralidade constituída sobre o sistema de reciprocidade em que predominavam vínculos horizontais enquanto estratégia de sobrevivência. A etnografia da duração orienta a pensar acerca das trajetórias pessoais e coletivas que configuram as temporalidades da cidade, os tempos de crise e de continuidade da população vitimada. / This research belongs to the debating field of Urban and Visual Anthropology. I studied the configuration of solidarity networks of emergency formed as alternatives to face the situation of crisis originated in the 2008 flood (Vale de Itajaí, SC). The flood disposed those who lived it to develop new networks of interaction and sociability, which may be defined as relations of reciprocity and solidarity. The construction of these solidarity networks having an emergency character is based theoretically on Larissa Lomnintz‟s perspective, who highlighted its centrality studying popular communities. This character is constituted upon a system of reciprocity in which horizontal ties, as a surviving strategy, are predominating. The ethnography of the duration guides us to think personal and collective trajectories, which forms the temporalities of the city, the times of crisis and the continuity of the victimized population.

Esta dissertação resulta de um estudo etnográfico realizado junto a um grupo de moradores do bairro Lami, em Porto Alegre. A partir das lembranças dos “antigos” do bairro, o estudo apresenta o cotidiano e as trajetórias sociais desses moradores que conformam uma experiência urbana singular nas formas de habitar a cidade. O Lami situa-se no extremo sul da cidade, sendo conhecido por suas praias balneáveis e cenários de beleza natural. Um território relativamente livre das aglomerações urbanas características das áreas centrais, mas que vem acolhendo um número cada vez maior de moradores nos últimos anos, a medida em que os terrenos vão sendo loteados e vendidos, causando transformações na paisagem e na vida social local. O “progresso” que trouxe a luz elétrica, o asfaltamento das vias de acesso e o incremento no sistema de transportes, traz também as contradições da modernidade. Às imagens de um bairro “rural”, lugar de agricultura, pesca e veraneios, sobrepõe-se a imagem de uma periferia da cidade, cujos moradores são em sua maioria trabalhadores urbanos. Frente às agitações temporais percebidas como “tempos de crise” pelos antigos moradores, vemos um esforço destes em re-atualizar o cotidiano e reencontrar os laços de sociabilidade e solidariedade que ancoram uma “estética comunitária” no bairro, imbuindo-o de uma “ambiência” peculiar na cidade. / This thesis is the result of an ethnographic study, developed in conjunction with a group of local inhabitants from the neighbourhood of Lami, in Porto Alegre. Drawing from the local elders memories, the study represents the routines and the social interactions of such a group that leads to a unique urban experience in inhabiting a city. Lami is located in the most southerly district of the city, renown for its beautiful swimming beaches and amazing landscapes of natural beauty. It is an area free from the crowds which characterizes the more urban areas of the city. However, welcome as they are, it has been accommodating more and more inhabitants over the last few years. Its land have been sold and transformed into gated residential developments, which impact greatly on the landscape as well as the local social environment. This ‘progress’, that has brought the power distribution network, paved road infrastructure and the benefits of a public transportation system, unfortunately also promotes all the illogicalities of the modern world. The image of a rural neighborhood, a rural area perfect for fishing and tourism, conjoined with the city backdrop whose inhabitants, predominately look there for sustainable employment. Facing atemporal conflicts perceived as a “crisis point” by the local elders, there is an urgent need for these people to update their routine and rediscover their ties of sociability and solidarity which will anchor a “communal aesthetics” in the neighbourhood, providing such a distinctive environment within the city.

Esta dissertação investiga um grupo de fotógrafos amadores chamado Leica 1. A convivência no grupo faz com que seus encontros sejam motivados não só pela fotografia, mas também pela amizade que os envolve. Diante disso, desenvolve-se uma sociabilidade na qual se compartilha dos mais diversos assuntos cotidianos. A fotografia é, muitas vezes, um suporte e mesmo motivadora da memória. O grupo Leica 1 fotografa, registra, lembra, conta e faz a história, sendo arte ou sendo documento ou sendo uma arte-documento. Por isso, este é um trabalho construído pela convivência, pelas lembranças, pelas fotografias e pelas múltiplas vozes que são testemunhas e agentes da história da cidade de Porto Alegre, da história da fotografia e de muitas outras histórias. / The present essay investigates a group of amateur photographers called Leica 1. The living in the group makes their meetings be motivated not only for photography, but also for friendship which involves them. Therefore, it is developed sociability in which various daily matters are shared among the group. Photography is, for several times, supportive and even motivating for remembrance. Group Leica 1 photographs, records, reminds, tells, and makes history; being either art or a document, being an art-document. For this reason, the present work was built based on living, memoirs, photographs, and by the multiple voices which are witnesses and agents to the history of Porto Alegre, to the history of photography, and many other histories.

Esta pesquisa trata do estudo de narrativa biográfica e trajetória social e da técnica de etnografia sonora no estudo da memória da vida cotidiana dos habitantes do território Bairro Navegantes, Porto Alegre-RS, tendo como ponto de partida a interpretação das formas de negociação dos habitantes locais com as transformações produzidas, ao longo das últimas décadas, na paisagem do bairro. Através da pesquisa etnográfica das formas de trabalho, gestos de ocupação, e sociabilidades dos moradores de dois lugares dos bairros São Geraldo e Navegantes, e das suas formas de narrar as transformações no interior do coração do Quarto Distrito, esta pesquisa pretende compreender o fenômeno da duração da memória do lugar integrando as formas destes habitantes experienciarem a cidade de Porto Alegre. Busca-se contemplar as tensões, as diferenças de visões de mundo, e estilos de vida dos diferentes atores da cena social etnografada, relacionando-os às distintas práticas sociais no bairro como chave interpretativa das possíveis acomodações por parte de seus habitantes das transformações espaço-temporais do lugar. / This research is a study about biographic account and social path and the audio ethnography technique regarging the study of inhabitants' everyday life memory in the Bairro Navegantes territory, Porto Alegre, Brazil. The interpretation of dealing methods of the local with the transformations produced in the area's landscapte throughout the last decades is the starting point of this study. Through the ethnographic research of the forms of work, occupation acts, and sociabilities from Porto Alegre's neighborhoods of São Geraldo's and Navegantes' inhabitants - and their ways of accouting the transformation in the inner area of Quarto Distrito - , this research aims at understanding the place memory duration phenomenon integrating the ways these subjects experienced the city of Porto Alegre. Moreover, it aims at contemplating the tensions, the differences of worldview, and lifestyles of the diverse actors of the ethnographic social scene, relating them to distinct social practice in the studied area as interpretative key to possible accomodation for the space-time transformation of the place by its inhabitants.

Através dos recursos da Reserva Técnica de Bolsa (FAPESP), foram adquiridas obras da autora pouco conhecidas no Brasil. A partir delas, levantamos todos os seus envolvimentos com o uso das imagens fotográficas e fílmicas. A consideração conjunta das principais reflexões escritas da referida antropóloga sobre o tema permitiu, então, diferenciar suas proposições programáticas (na forma de artigos) daquilo que efetivamente realizou, em termos visuais, ao longo de sua obra. The major focus is on the uses of the images (photographs) in the researches and publications of the anthropologist Margaret Mead (with her various partners: Gregory Bateson, Paul Byers, Ken Heyman and others). Sixty two verbal-visual compositions are presented to demonstrate the potentialities and the limitations of the verbal and visual expressions arranged side by side. The results show us that the propositions of Margaret Mead must be reconsidered in the light of the different uses of the images in her works. In this way, a part of the history of Visual Anthropology is delineated and indicates significatives possibilities of enrichment in this and in correlated fields of the humanities / Doutorado / Multimeios / Doutor em Multimeios

In this paper, we aim to understand how the social actors of a community on the outskirts of Aracaju, Sergipe, and sighted policy practiced in their daily lives. These analyzes are guided by research on memory, enunciated through the narratives tessitura, which emerged through interviews by former residents. From these statements, it was possible to identify the direction of the trajectory of these subjects in a time and space that is configured through preterit symbolic procedurals that therefore allowed us to understand how to have relationships between the discourses, identities, self representation, engagement and communication. Given the above, we chose to use as anthropological analysis method, Photoethnography and ethnography of cyberspace, added the collection and comparison of the information obtained from the filtering of documentary sources. / No presente trabalho, visamos compreender como os atores sociais de uma comunidade da periferia de Aracaju, Sergipe, enxergavam e praticavam a política em seu cotidiano. Essas análises, são pautadas pela investigação acerca da memória, enunciada através das tessituras narrativas, que emergiam por intermédio de entrevistas concedidas pelos antigos moradores. A partir desses depoimentos, foi possível identificar o sentido da trajetória desses sujeitos em um tempo e espaço que se configurou por meio de processualidades simbólicas pretéritas que, por conseguinte, nos permitiram entender como se deram as relações entre os discursos, as identidades, a auto representação, o engajamento e a comunicação. Dado o exposto, optamos por utilizar como método de análise antropológica, a fotoetnografia e a etnografia do ciberespaço, somados a coleta e o cruzamento das informações obtidas a partir da filtragem das fontes documentais.

Patrícia belongs to the Mbyá-Guarani ethnic group and is currently regarded as the most relevant female figure in Brazilian indigenous filmmaking. I attempt to understand her trajectory from the standpoint of the relations she establishes with images to contribute with research on indigenous women and filmmakers and, hence, to understand the paths available for a female indigenous filmmaker in Brazil. I employ audiovisual methods to verify the passage from the representation of an ‘indian image’ – in view of representations brought forth by stereotypical non-indigenous policies – towards the ‘indigenous gaze’. In other words, by focusing on a self-represented and political image as well as on filmmaking from the standpoint of a shared gaze, repertoires, and her own experiences, Patrícia becomes the leading figure of her claims. Therefore, her work opposes the apparent passiveness which is often assigned to the imagery production relation active/man and passive/woman. She distances herself from a romanticized and exotic view (‘of the other’) through appropriations of her discourses, hence performing her own artistic agency in the production of a female indigenous cinematography. There is a tension between borders and their discursive possibilities which have originated from the appropriation of audiovisual technologies that make up hegemonic stances. It is based on this rupture that I carry out an ethnographic experience of video letters, i.e. exchanged videographic messages about a wide range of topics. In this project, they exist between the two of us to show our relationship through images and sounds. In Patrícia’s own words: ‘what I put out used to be inside me’. / Esta pesquisa procura traçar a trajetória da cineasta indígena Patrícia Ferreira Pará Yxapy. Patrícia é Mbyá-Guarani e é atualmente tida como a mulher mais relevante para o cinema indígena brasileiro. Procuro entender sua trajetória a partir das relações que ela estabelece com as imagens a fim de contribuir com os estudos sobre mulheres e cineastas indígenas e, a partir daí, compreender os caminhos de uma mulher indígena cineasta no Brasil. Utilizo métodos audiovisuais para verificar a passagem da representação da “imagem do índio” – diante das representações realizadas por políticas não indígenas estereotipadas – para “o olhar indígena”. Ou seja, com a imagem autorrepresentada e política e o dispositivo cinematográfico a partir do olhar compartilhado, de repertórios e suas experiências, Patrícia torna-se protagonista de suas reivindicações. Portanto, sua obra contrapõe-se ao pressuposto lugar de passividade que é atribuído, frequentemente, à relação de produção imagética ativa/homem e passiva/mulher. Ela afasta-se da visão romantizada e exótica (“do outro”) por meio das apropriações de seus discursos, empreendendo sua própria agência artística na produção de uma cinematografia indígena feminina. Desse modo, deparamo-nos com uma tensão entre fronteiras e suas possibilidades discursivas abertas pela apropriação de tecnologias audiovisuais constitutivas das posições hegemônicas. É a partir dessa fissura que fazemos uma experiência etnográfica de vídeo-cartas, que constituem trocas de mensagens videográficas dos mais diversos temas. Neste projeto, elas existem entre nós duas a fim de mostrar com imagens e sons nossa relação. Como afirma Patrícia: “o que pus para fora estava dentro de mim”.

This book presents 161 images of faces in a situation of Brazilian Carnival Ecstasy, which correspond to a very special project for the implementation of a new science, marked by a strong presence of the subjectivity. Such a presence is visible in the method of creating this very subjective anthropology, which saturates the image and the discourse. To understand the compositional procedures of this aesthetic-scientific method, it will be studied Dionysian concepts related to the perception of the world and its relation to Apollonian concepts. It will be studied as well artistic and anthropological concepts that are related to the carnival as a cultural and aesthetic expression. This theoretical path supports the interpretation that the image and the discourse levels are made in harmony with the thematic aspect addressed in the Anthropology of the Glorious Face, in which Apollo and Dionysus plot, between light and shadows, the expression of brazilian ethos / Mestrado / Multimeios / Mestra em Multimeios
