This research analyzes the contributions that the Free Software Movement can bring to the formation of collaborative networks in education. A collaborative network model was created from a pilot study considering the collaborative dynamic in the free software communities, important aspects in a dialogical education and opportunities generated by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) implemented through free software. This model was applied in a course for teachers whose theme was "How could Moodle support classroom teaching", which allowed a suitable environment to this research and promoted collective reflections about Course Management Systems, the use of ICTs in Education and the need for a dialogical education approach. Considering that factors such as behavior, reactions and opinions are highly relevant in this research context, regarding the methodology, this fit as a qualitative research. The results achieved through the research, pointed to a series of contributions that this model of collaborative network tends to offer to the educational area, in particular, the finding that a dialogical process is achieved from a self-reflection process that leads to awareness and when socialized strengthens the group to build knowledge. The findings also pointed to a brief analysis about the different characteristics of ICT adopted, such as chat, video conferencing, wiki, forum and especially Moodle as a tool to provide the centralization of ICT in a single environment, facilitating the organization of the group / Mestrado / Tecnologia e Inovação / Mestre em Tecnologia

[en] VIRTUAL STRATEGIC ALLIANCES AND NETWORKS: AN EXPLORATORY RESEARCH / [pt] REDES ESTRATÉGICAS VIRTUAIS: UMA PESQUISA EXPLORATÓRIACLAUDIO PITASSI 18 January 2005 (has links)
pós-positivista,
utilizando-se simultaneamente dos métodos hipotético-
dedutivo e indutivo. A
caso: Construtora Norberto Odebrecht, Telemar e AmBev. Nas
etapas
subseqüentes da pesquisa, múltiplos métodos foram adotados
para a captura de
dados: investigação documental e telematizada, levantamento
das percepções
(survey) com os diretores das diferentes empresas. Os
[en] The research portrayed in this Doctoral Dissertation was
designed to
search an answer for the following problem: What factors
and dimensions should
the executives take into consideration on their decisions
regarding the strategic
implications related to the virtualization of strategic
alliances and networks? Since
the study`s object of analysis was a new phenomenon in the
business
environment that does not yet have an accepted theoretical
tradition in the
academic world, the research was, necessarily, an
exploratory one. The
methodology applied was post-positivist, using
simultaneously the hypotheticdeductive
and inductive methods. Based on the literature
investigated, a working
framework was developed containing the aspects regarding
the virtualization of
the relationships with business partners: the
virtualization drivers and attributes,
and a typology of virtual strategic networks (VSNs). This
framework was
previously tested in two pilot cases studies: Neoris and GM-
Fiat WWP. After the
necessary adjustments on the data collections instruments,
the framework was
applied on the other three research case studies:
Construtora Norberto
Odebrecht, Telemar e AmBev. On the subsequent research
steps, multiple
methods were adopted for the data collection. The results
obtained by way of the
case studies showed that, indeed, the working framework had
the potential to
contribute with subsidies for the strategic decisions
involved, not only in the
identification, but mainly in the creation of conditions
that influence a more
effective participation of firms on the different types of
VSNs.

This paper has the objective of proposing a measuring tool for performances in Virtual Learning Communities (VLC). For this purpose, variables of the theory of social capital have been used. The whole work heads for the building of a matrix with the following variables: a) structural social capital under economic focus, here related to factors such as technological infra-structure and the use of virtual environments, as well as policies to encourage the use of resources of Information Technology (IT); b) cognitive social capital, generated through the creation of virtual culture, and c) social cohesion under the focus of social actions, analyzed from the point of view of the interaction and cooperation of their participants in respect to the promotion of such actions. The research starts from the presupposition that knowledge generation in virtual learning environments is related to digital literacy, and the use of virtual environments by the participants of the studied community is a consequence. The methodology is based on the ethnographic analysis of the environment under study, on the techniques of collecting data through questionnaires, as well as on the analysis of the construction of a discourse of a collective subject. A structured view of these questions related to the performance of a VLC is represented in the resulting Social Capital Matrix. This view converges to the requisites desired in the different performance analyses or, in other words, to the establishment of management goals and the assessment of their results.

Objetos de aprendizagem no contexto das comunidades virtuais auto-organizadas para a produção de software livre e de código aberto / Learning objects in the context of self-organized virtual communities for the development of free and open source softwareRivas, Teobaldo 15 December 2009 (has links)
The present thesis aims to produce subsidies for the development of a theoreticalmethodological referential on the use of learning objects in the context of self-organized virtual communities for the development of free and open source software. The methodologies used were the virtual ethnography (HINE, 2000), together with the mediated action analytical theory (WERTSCH, 1991) and content analysis (BARDIN, 2000). Data was collected in two phases: from the discussion forums of (4) four communities, and from an incubator community for the development of free and open source software projects. The learning objects appear to mediate the problem solution processes, since all the problems of the analyzed sample were solved, despite the lack of a standard of compliance of those objects. This limitation is overcome due to the specific dominant profile of the active members of the community, who display a high level of collaborative behavior, voluntary initiative, detachment, obstinacy, auto-learning capacity, autonomy, independence, discipline, responsibility and commitment to deadlines, product quality and other requirements established by the community. Another relevant aspect is that the communities are abundant in human interaction, what qualifies the mediation significance process and the collaborative environment in the actions referring to location, assembling and contextualization of the learning objects. The meaningful results obtained by those communities have led great software production organizations to review their corporate strategies, good developmental practices, staff, people and project management. On the other hand, it is inferred that the sustainability of those communities can not be maintained only by personal attributes and abilities, specially because the location of the learning objects for problem solution is based on the tacit knowledge of their members. It is necessary to aggregate innovation into the nature and functionality of those communities (standard compliance, technological methods and tools), to not only enable an effective and universal accessibility to knowledge leading to more efficient problem solution, but also to incorporate members with diverse behavior and abilities. The results of the present research contribute to future innovation in both theoretical and practical fields in the definition of a pattern of conformity for the specification, indexation, use, combination and evaluation of learning objects, in addition to motivating a change of behavior, culture and way of learning.

Previous issue date: 2006-10-04 / This Master s Dissertation researches the disclosures derived from the curriculum of the
School Administrators Development course in the use of Information and Communication
Technologies of the School Administration and Technology Project, which emerged from the
actions, practices, attitudes and discourse of the educational administrators from the public
schools of Sao Paulo State and departments of education. These disclosures made explicit
certain indications of knowledge based management through technological resources that
empower the development of collaborative actions. Considering that the computer is a
potential instrument for creating communities, the research shows the possible uses of
technological resources for network building, problem solving, and decision making. Data
collection instruments consisted of the forums and reflective memoirs written by the course
participants in various roles; semi structured interviews with project members and instructors
selected after review of the memoirs; and questionnaires regarding the topic of knowledge
based management. After data analysis and interpretation, it was possible to perceive
indications of knowledge based management in the schools, yet still enacted intuitively and
unsystematically. Although the course project included the elements indicated by theorists as
essential to knowledge based management, not all of these concepts were revealed in the data
collection instruments. It was possible to perceive the potentials for the suggestion of network
formation and community building, primarily Communities of Practice (CoP), as the basis for
knowledge based management in Education.
questionários acerca do assunto gestão baseada no conhecimento.
Embora o projeto do

Previous issue date: 2006-12-19 / The reality of digital world is closely related to our daily life in such a way that the
cyber culture footsteps are marked digitally in all the aspects of our life.
These facts can also be applied to our relationships, transforming physical contact into
virtual hypermidiatic connections.
A large quantity of virtual community is added to cyber space each day, however,
significant part of them lose their attractiveness soon after they are launched to the
market. We would like to understand the reasons why the failure of these sites happen,
and list the main factors which have to be considered in the design phase.
The semiotic qualitative analysis performed in this research work has the objective to
demonstrate how the attractiveness and communicability of the relationship site such
as Orkut and LinkedIn is one of the key factors to drive the successful construction of
virtual networks and create loyalty to the users.
The methodology that we will apply to this research work is based in the General
Theory of Signs from Charles Peirce. We chose the Orkut and LinkedIn relationship

Previous issue date: 2007-11-30 / The goal of this project is to research how virtual communities such as orkut and flickr are molding new identity and self-presentation parameters. The present project takes as study object photographic self-portraits and its associated representation forms. In self-portraits the relation between the observer and who is observed has blurred limits, demanding a body with a special quality: a body in process. This new body of multiple identities is reconfigured intermittently assuming new behaviors facing new technologies, requiring a new configuration of world. It is expected that digital images reflects these processes by being capable of reconfiguring itself. We show through representation the world we live in. However, contemporary world faces a crisis of representation, knowledge and great complexity in matters of subjectivity production. The images that are produced and propagated throughout a historical period are indications of a specific way of thinking. In virtual communities such as orkut, multiply and flickr, the use of images (especially self-portraits) creates a dynamic process of identification and differentiation of the individual. The identity, however, is influenced by interaction processes (comments of community members, number or visitors). So, the self-portraits are redefined as by the demands of specific sociability matters (the success, in terms of numbers of visitors and content of the commentaries). The influence of new technologies in the way we understand the construction of identity will be interrogated through specific readings and through artistic projects that deals with the concepts presented in the research / O objetivo do projeto é pesquisar como as redes sociais on line estão conformando novos padrões de identidade e auto-representação, tendo como objeto de estudo os retratos e auto-retratos que circulam em comunidades virtuais e suas formas associadas de representação.
