Mostrar? Esconder? Seduzir? : o papel do narrador em obras do PNBE 2010

Volmer, Lovani 13 April 2015 (has links)
Universidade de Caxias do Sul, UCS / This thesis is part of the literary texts reading field, specifically children's narratives, and focuses its attention on the performance of the narrator, a narrative body responsible for conducting our reading and, thus, to makes us close or distant, to show us or hide or to involve us into the narrated. The objective of this study is to investigate the possibility of seen the narrator as a reading symbolic mediator. From the hypothesis that this individual made of paper, far beyond just being ranked as 1st or 3rd person, for his performance in the narrative can also be considered a symbolic mediator of reading and also with the intention of contributing to the pedagogical practice. For this investigation, we selected works of the Programa Nacional Biblioteca da Escola (National Program of School Library) - PNBE 2010, distributed free by the federal government to all public schools in the country. Our theoretical background lies on Iser (1999; 1996), Larrosa (2003) and Candido (1995) with respect to the literary text reading; Genette (s / d); Benjamin (2007), Lajolo and Zilberman (1996), the study of the speaker; Prince (1994), the narratee; Zilberman (1981) and Coelho (1991), children's literature; and Vygotsky (1989), the mediation. After reading and analyzing the elements that make up each of the 50 works with verb visual narratives, that make up the 4 PNBE 2010 collections, we selected eight titles for the qualitative and quantitative analysis, directing our attention to the story and its speech, especially for the narrator's role with a view to the narratee. Based on this analysis, we consider that the narrator is also a symbolic mediator in the reading process, provided that: a) expresses deep knowledge of the narrated and is therefore a wise person; b) takes into consideration the reader's expectation of the universe; and c) challenges the reader.

This study proposes an investigation on the presence of elements that arouse the imagination of the reader in child work of Clarice Lispector. I discuss here the different shapes that make up the comprehensive way of imagination, listing the four short stories by the author: O mistério do Coelho pensante; A mulher que matou os peixes; A vida íntima de Laura; Quase de verdade. This research will seek to demonstrate the versatility of the author in transit the different aspects of the imagination through a unique way, where the novelty, transgression and the vanguard are present through the typically peculiar language of Clarice Lispector, causing the reader, at the time the short stories were published, the effect of estrangement, regardless of whether it is an adult or a child. Clarice is one of the authors who will contribute to soften the national children's literature of the rooted pedagogical impositions from the colonial period.

Challenging Adamant Norms : An analysis of the portrayal of childhood and gender in the Handbook for Superheroes books / Att utmana orubbliga normer : En analys av skildringen av barndom och genus i Handbok för superhjältar-böckerna

Söderström Gardevåg, Rebecka January 2019 (has links)
Children’s literature is one of many important influences of childhood socialization and teaches children about contemporary society. Therefore, it is important to understand what messages children’s literature convey. In this thesis, I analyze four contemporary, Swedish graphic novels, aimed at children between the ages of six and nine years old. My research questions are: how do the studied books portray children and childhood? And how do the books portray the intersectional positions of girlhood and boyhood? To gather and analyze my data, I used close reading and thematic analysis. This process resulted in three themes, which I call: ‘a child in need of protection or the competent child’, ‘the gender-neutral superhero or the gendered superhero’ and ‘constructing girlhood and boyhood’. The results show that the books depict children in two ways; either as dependent and vulnerable or as competent agents. This relates to traditional, developmental understandings of children as well as understandings of children as formulated by the new paradigm for the study of childhood. Moreover, the results problematize the role of the superhero, specifically the ways in which the books explicitly gender the superhero in the text and portrays what could either be interpreted as a gender-neutral or an implicitly masculine superhero in the illustrations. Finally, the results indicate that the books depict girlhood and boyhood as contrasting identities. In conclusion, the authors of the books seem interested in challenging conventional norms regarding children and childhood, in line with a larger trend among Swedish children’s literature. At the same time, the books also convey traditional norms regarding both girlhood and boyhood, such as by the clear markers of age and gender in the illustrations.

The worlds between, above and below : "growing up" and "falling down" in Alice in Wonderland and Stardust

Potter, Mary-Anne January 1900 (has links)
The purpose of my dissertation is to conduct an intertextual study of two fantasy texts — Alice in Wonderland by Victorian author Lewis Carroll, and Stardust by postmodern fantasy author Neil Gaiman — and their filmic re-visionings by Tim Burton and Matthew Vaughn respectively. In scrutinising these texts, drawing on insights from feminist, children’s literature and intertextual theorists, the actions of ‘growing up’ and ‘falling down’ are shown to be indicative of a paradoxical becoming of the text’s central female protagonists, Alice and Yvaine. The social mechanisms of the Victorian age that educate the girl-child into becoming accepting of their domestic roles ultimately alienate her from her true state of being. While she may garner some sense of importance within the imaginary realms of fantasy narratives, as these female protagonists demonstrate, she is reduced to the position of submissive in reality – in ‘growing up’, she must assume a ‘fallen down’ state in relation to the male. / English Studies / M.A. (English)

The purpose of the study is to increase knowledge about how newly licensedpreschool teachers work with children's literature and how they reflect on thiswork. The study examines what happens to the knowledge acquired duringpreschool teacher education, especially the knowledge that deals withchildren's literature. Qualitative semi-structured interviews were used toconduct a total of five interviews with legitimate preschool teachers from fourdifferent preschools. A qualitative content analysis was used to analyze thedata that emerged. One ofthe conclusions that emerges is that children's literature in preschool is used inseveral different ways and not just as reading aloud at rest. The results alsoshow that newly licensed preschool teachers believe that they have goodconditions for working with children's literature in preschool. The work withchildren's literature is often planned together with the work team and theimportance of the group is emphasized. This is positive for the preschoolteaching profession as it shows how preschool teachers work with children'sliterature.
