Pesquisa do Estado de S?o Paulo - FAPESP / This study aims to analyze the daily life of poor and abandoned children of Feira de Santana in the period comprising the years 1879 to 1945. We understand that this interval initiatives directed to "fix" childhood?s problems were marked not only in that feirense city but also in Brazilian cities in tune with the republican tenets of order, progress, habits and behaviors? civility and city architecture. In this progressive desired scenario was seen birth and death public and private actions, times backed by the state, sometimes its drift, implying that the interests of the political sphere in feirense poor and abandoned childhood was not related to solution the historical problems of this social group but the consolidation of the civilizing project that saw the poor and abandoned children before potentially active subjects in Feira de Santana?s delay, possible future articulators of their civilizing project. / Este estudo tem por objetivo analisar o cotidiano da inf?ncia pobre e abandonada de Feira de Santana no per?odo que compreende os anos de 1879 a 1945. Entendemos que neste intervalo temporal as iniciativas direcionadas ? ?corre??o? dos problemas da inf?ncia foram acentuadas n?o s? na urbe feirense como tamb?m nas cidades brasileiras sintonizadas com os postulados republicanos da ordem, progresso e civilidade dos h?bitos, comportamentos e arquitetura citadina. Esta pesquisa tem como foco o Almanack da Parnahyba e a leitura que se pode fazer da educação em suas páginas com o objetivo de identificar e compreender os discursos e/ou representações produzidas acerca da educação em um período de edição ininterrupta entre 1924 e 1982, num total de 58 edições. O tema educação foi analisado sob duas perspectivas: educação como processo civilizador e educação formal e escolarizada. A pesquisa fundamenta-se nos pressupostos da História Cultural, embasada, sobretudo, nos conceitos de Chartier, Brotel, Le Goff. O Almanack foi localizado em arquivos públicos e particulares, a imersão em suas páginas possibilitou construir determinados aspectos da educação no Piauí e em Parnaíba, singulares ou comuns ao restante do País. Pode-se perceber, a partir da análise do periódico, as características de sua materialidade e circulação, que permitiram identificar sua constituição e os espaços em que circulou. Observou-se que, durante o período estudado, esse Almanaque atuou, direta ou indiretamente, como um manual civilizador ancorado em um processo de modernização urbanista e higienista. Também, foram identificadas representações, por parte de seus colaboradores, no que diz respeito à educação formal e institucionalizada o que proporcionou uma análise do imbricamento de diversos autores com o sistema político e educacional vigente. Enfim, acredita-se que se cumpriu o objetivo desta pesquisa ao entranhar-se nos discursos dos colaboradores do Almanack, senão em todo, pelo menos às representações referentes à construção de um processo de civilidade e/ou a sistematização sobre a educação institucionalizada em Parnaíba e no Piauí. / The studies related to the written culture and everyday printed matter have been assuming, systematically, a significant space historiographical production. This research focuses on the Almanack da Parnahyba and the interpretation one can do in its pages in order to identify and understand the speeches and/or representations produced about education in a continuous period of editing from 1924 to 1982, in a total of 58 issues. The theme education was analyzed from two perspectives: education as a civilizing process, and formal and schooling education. The research is based on assumptions of Cultural History, based mainly on the concepts of Chartier, Brotel, Le Goff. Almanack was localized in public and private archives; the immersion in its pages made it possible to build certain aspects of education in Piauí and Parnaíba, unique or common to the rest of the country. One can notice, from the analysis of the periodical, the characteristics of its materiality and circulation, which have enabled to identify its constitution and the spaces in which circulated. It was noted that, during the period studied, this Almanac served, directly or indirectly, as a civilizing manual anchored in a process of urbanist and hygienist modernization. Also, representations were identified, on the part of its collaborators, with regard to formal and instructional education, which provided an analysis of the interrelation of various authors with the current political and educational system. Finally, it is believed that it have been reached the objective of this research when ingraining in the speeches of the collaborators of the Almanack, if not completely, at least to the representations concerning the construction of a civility process and/or systematization on instructional education in Parnaíba and Piauí.

[pt] O presente estudo tem por objetivo investigar a questão da (in)civilidade no ambiente de trabalho a partir da análise das explicações utilizadas na fala de profissionais de diferentes organizações empresariais. O corpus foi constituído por entrevistas individuais semiestruturadas realizadas com cinco estudantes do curso de Mestrado em Administração do IAG da PUC-Rio e cujas experiências profissionais diferem quanto ao tempo de trabalho, à área de atuação e ao tipo de organização em que atuam ou atuaram. À luz da teoria sobre accounts (Arribas- Ayllon, Sarangi E Clarke, 2011; Buttny E Morris, 2001; Matikalo, 2003; Raevare, 2010), averiguou-se o modo como os entrevistados (re)constroem os significados da (in)civilidade por meio de explicações referentes a suas manifestações, sua importância e fatores que a (des)favorecem no ambiente organizacional. Os resultados apontam não só para uma dificuldade dos entrevistados em circunscrever o significado da (in)civilidade, como também evidenciam sua crença de que certas normas de civilidade são passíveis de serem suspensas em determinados contextos de trabalho / [en] The present study aims to investigate the issue of (in)civility in the workplace through the analysis of accounts used in the speech of professionals from different business organizations. The corpus consisted of individual semistructured interviews conducted with five MBA students from IAG (PUC-Rio) whose professional experiences differ in terms of working time, area of activity and the type of organization in which they work or have worked. In light of the theory on accounts (Arribas-Ayllon, Sarangi AND Clarke, 2011; Buttny AND Morris, 2001; Matikalo, 2003; Raevare, 2010), this study examined the way interviewees (re)construct the meaning(s) of (in)civility by using accounts related to the its manifestations, its importance and the factors that encourage or discourage it in the workplace. The results indicate not only the interviewees’ difficulty in circumscribing the meaning of (in)civility, but also reveal their belief that some civility-related rules may be disregarded in certain professional contexts.

This thesis aims at studying representatives from three groups in the Egyptian society with an ethnographic method and with regards to their experiences, reflections and stories of the Egyptian revolution. The material of the thesis is based on ethnographic fieldwork and on interviews. The purpose of the study is to explore different themes in the informants’ stories related to society, freedom, social justice, human values, peace and civility. The purpose is also to examine the informants' stories with emphasis on various informal learning processes that occurred in the Egyptian social change. The study finds that according to the informants a society should be characterized, among other things, by human values, social justice, non-violence and peaceful methods and approaches. Various informal learning processes involving both individual citizens and active members of civil society and NGO groups were found to be practiced to be able to accomplish these changes in the Egyptian society to create a better future. The degrees of involvement of the various learning processes not only reflect differences between informants regarding the social and cultural background. Although informants' involvement in the ongoing development of society and how different informal learning processes have affected the informants.

O CFC era formado por vinte e quatro intelectuais com o objetivo de organizar o setor cultural e elaborar o inédito Plano Nacional de Cultura. Esta tese possui um duplo objetivo: primeiro, investigar como a criação do Conselho está integrada à participação desses intelectuais no campo político e cultural brasileiro desde a década de 1920; segundo, analisar como os discursos e projetos organizados pelo Conselho incorporam o ideário cívico vigente na ditadura civil-militar (1964-1985). / The Conselho Federal de Cultura, CFC, was the main organ responsible for the cultural policies between 1967 and 1975. The CFC was formed by twenty-four intellectuals with the objective of organizing the cultural sector and elaborating the original Plano Nacional de Cultura. Through several documents (laws, bills, municipal postures, meeting minutes, news from newspapers, official letters) and different bibliographical sources, we point out here some of the attempts to settle norms and civility brought about by The House of Representatives' agents (Representatives, inspectors, etc.) in search of settling the so-called "the city good government". Thus , we describe certain marks of the municipality work, its internal organization, the search for efficiency and administrative rationalization, some of the government tactics and disciplinary practices of the public space in a civilizable context (although such practices were not fully carried out in everyday life, especially because of the customs, traditions and Recife inhabitant's resistances constituted hindrances to them. However we presumed that the administration under the models of the use of norms and civility were marks of the municipality action and so resulting in influences and importance beyond its governmental/administrative functions, even the political and cultural ones as we had presumed. / Este trabalho tem como proposta basilar versar sobre a câmara municipal do Recife e sua administração nos anos de 1829 a 1849. Através da leitura e análise de variados documentos – leis, editais, posturas municipais, atas de reuniões, artigos, noticias de jornais, ofícios e fontes bibliográficas diversas, apontamos aqui alguns indícios e sinais –, como sugere Carlo Ginzburg, das tentativas de normatização e civilidade impetradas pelos agentes camarários na busca por estabelecer o chamado “bom governo da cidade”. Assim, narramos certas marcas da atuação da municipalidade, a sua organização interna, a busca pela eficiência e racionalização administrativa, algumas das táticas de governo e práticas de disciplinamento do espaço público num contexto civilizacional. Ainda que tal expediente não se exercesse plenamente no cotidiano social, principalmente porque os costumes, as tradições e as resistências dos recifenses eram rastros e entraves a tais anseios das elites ali alocadas. Não obstante, entrevemos que a administração sob os moldes da normatização e civilidade eram marcas da ação da municipalidade redundando em influências e importâncias para além das suas funções governativas/administrativas, até mesmo políticas e culturais, conforme conjeturamos.

Autour de l’année 1585 paraissent en France des recueils dialogués cultivant l’hybridité formelle et le mélange des tons : les Contes et discours d’Eutrapel de Noël du Fail, les Matinées et les Apresdisnées de Cholières ainsi que les Serées du libraire-imprimeur poitevin Guillaume Bouchet. Exploitant une des potentialités du Décaméron de Boccace, ils mettent l’accent sur la pratique des « devis », c’est-à-dire sur les conversations nouées par des compagnies conteuses. Ces « contes et discours bigarrez » font alterner les bribes de nouvelles, les anecdotes plaisantes et les railleries avec les matières les plus graves, fiches historiques, apophtegmes édifiants et développements juridiques. En un curieux mélange, l’art de « rencontrer » (de dire des bons mots) s’y mêle à l’érudition la plus ostentatoire. Au carrefour de l’histoire des formes littéraires et de la sociabilité, les notions de « facétie » et de « devis » permettent d’interroger la singularité de ces textes, en termes à la fois poétiques et sociaux. Le genre de la facétie humaniste y est de mieux en mieux assimilé, tandis que le dialogue philosophique cède la place à de souples conversations, qui redéfinissent les rapports des plaisanteries aux savoirs. En décrivant les réactions des interlocuteurs, ces textes mènent aussi une réflexion sur la sociabilité et les normes de la civilité. Alors que le royaume est en proie aux guerres civiles, ces conversations facétieuses esquissent des modèles de coexistence originaux, valorisant la liberté de parole, les conflits ludiques et les ententes paradoxales. Inspired by a potentiality offered by Boccaccio’s Decameron, the authors place the accent on the practice known as “devis”, or conversations that are started up in a storytelling mode. These “contes et discours bigarrez” alternate snatches of novellas, pleasant anecdotes and teasing mockery with more serious material, including historical notes, edifying apophthegms and legal developments. In a curious mélange, the art of “rencontrer” (being witty) is offset by showy erudition. At the crossroads of the history of literary forms and sociability, the notions of “facétie” and “devis” enlighten the singularity of these texts, in both poetic and social terms. The genre of humanistic witticism is increasingly integrated, while philosophical dialogue gives way to agile conversation, which redefines the relation between joking and learning. In describing the reactions of the persons addressed, these texts also invite research into the sociability and the civility codes of the day. At a time when the kingdom is rife with civil wars, these facetious or witty conversations are original models for coexistence, where freedom of speech, playful clashes and paradoxical agreements play leading roles. Part urbane, part countrified, between courteous and bawdy, an important turning point in the history of conversation is reached here, on the eve of the Grand Siècle.
