The study collected occupational data from the 99 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I membership institutions head athletic directors. The purpose of this study was to identify common professional preparation and occupational characteristics among NCAA Division I athletic directors. Through issuing an electronic survey, the current study identified common characteristics and themes among Division I athletic directors specifically within the socio-demographical background, educational background, professional experience and career progression, and career and job satisfaction. The study also provided demographic information about the participant’s institutional athletic department. The necessity of this study is not due directly to the current lack of current literature and research within the collegiate administration, rather in reference to literature examining the athletic administration occupational field. The study provides an occupational framework in regards to the career progression, training, and characteristics of NCAA Division I athletic director career field. The study’s purpose was to examine the career growth of NCAA Division I athletic directors, as well as evaluate the demographic and socio-demographics characteristics of the NCAA Division I athletic director. The research and data collected from the study’s participants provided the author the opportunity to create a profile of the athletic administration career field and more specifically, the detailed qualities sought in a NCAA Division I athletic director. The results from the study are beneficial to aspiring persons that wish to work in the field of collegiate athletics administration by correlating common occupational framework for educational requirements, professional experience and years necessary to gather the appropriate experience and also to identify an overview of the job and career satisfaction common among current NCAA Division I athletic directors. In doing so, the study utilized homosocial reproduction as its theoretical framework. The study’s results concluded that the field of athletic administration, and specifically NCAA Division I athletic directors are disproportionally white males (89% white, 90% male), and further examined the educational and professional background characteristics and experiences which lead to this occupational characteristic.

In this thesis, the concept of style transfer for visual storytelling is introduced. Style transfer for visual storytelling is the process of identifying a definitive style of a source, such as an artist or culture, and applying the features of that style to a target, such as a character which has a different style. As a proof of concept, the style of the American film director Tim Burton is transferred to a character from Hindu mythology, Yamah. The style transfer is done based on the concept of 'Pattern Language' introduced by Christopher Alexander et al., in his book, 'A Pattern Language'. A set of patterns is developed based on the source and target. The target is then designed based on the patterns. The design is then visualized in a suitable medium.

本研究主要針對目前企業績效不佳，董事會成員坐領高額董監酬勞之情況進行研究。本研究首先從權力與監督兩構面分析目前影響董監酬勞水準之因素，並進一步從權力與監督構面探討執行業務董監領取員工分紅產生之激勵或稀釋效果對公司價值與股東權益之影響。 實證結果顯示，董事會成員之權力擴張會導致較高水準之董監酬勞，尤其是執行業務董監之員工分紅部分，且執行業務董監領取員工分紅對於公司股東權益及公司未來價值具有負向之影響。家族企業之董監酬勞並不會隨著權力擴張而有較高的水準。在內部監督機制方面，獨立董監之監督效果較不明顯；在外部監督機制方面，主動機構投資人相較於被動機構投資人，具有抑制董監酬勞自利行為之效果。 / Based on a sample of Taiwanese companies listed in Taiwan Securities Exchange over the period of 1996-2004, this thesis examines the determinans of compensation of board directors from the power and monitoring perspectives. In addition, this thesis investigates the effect of equity-based compensation of executive directors on firm value and return on equity. The empirical result indicates that the entrenchment of managerial power determines the level of directors’ pay, especially on equity-based compensation. The more powerful the board of directors, higher the level of compensation, lower the company value and the return on stockholders` equity. However, as compared to non-family-controlled firms, the directors of family-controlled firms tend to have lower level of compensation. Moreover, we find that active institutional investors have greater monitoring effect on the compensation level of board of directors.

À la lecture de la Loi sur le droit d'auteur, il n'est pas clair que la mise en scène y soit protégée. C'est pourquoi nous nous questionnons sur la qualification juridique la plus adéquate pour la mise en scène. Le metteur en scène est-il un artiste-interprète ou un auteur? Après avoir étudié les caractéristiques artistiques des mises en scène, par types de productions et à la lumière de facteurs faisant varier la latitude du metteur en scène, nous étudions les différentes possibilités de qualification juridique de la mise en scène. Les possibilités sont vastes, car le metteur en scène évolue dans un cadre comprenant plusieurs intervenants. De plus, la mise en scène rencontre deux obstacles caractéristiques à sa qualification juridique en droit d'auteur: la fixation et l'originalité. Nous en venons à la conclusion que le metteur en scène est un auteur, car chacun des aspects de la mise en scène serait protégeable sous différentes qualifications juridiques. / Stage directions are not c1early protected under the current wording of the Copyright Law. This is why we wonder which legal qualification would be most appropriate. Is the stage director a performer or an author? We study the possibilities of legal qualification for stage direction, according to its artistic characteristics by production types, and considering the different factors which influence the Stage Director's liberty as well. The possibilities are vast since the Stage Director works in collaboration with several other intervening parties. Also, the Stage Director meets two typical obstacles: fixation and originality. We conclude that the Stage Director is an author because each and every aspect of the stage directions are copyrightable, under different legal qualifications.

Over the period of candidature, write and direct a feature film to completion. Son action y gagne en efficacité, dans l’intérêt de tous. / Faced with the impossibility of exercising his or her full powers in a large company, the executive director has to delegate some these to his or her subordinates. Transmission of power therefore becomes part of the organisation of the company and constitutes the most pertinent vector of said organisation. The flexibility of its regime is an incentive to use delegation in the company or even in the scope of the corporate group. The transfer of responsibility becomes a corollary of the transfer of power, including, under certain conditions, the transfer of responsability borne by the delegator. Delegation of power has become one of the preferred tools in the organisation of a company as it also allows for the distribution of risks amongst its actors in the face of the current strong penalisation of work relations. It allows the executive director, the bearer of multiple legal obligations, to carry out a deconcentration of power and stemming from that, of responsibility, by giving employees possessing the required skills the tasks that he or she isn’t, in practice, able to undertake. His or her action increases efficiency in the interest of all.

Among the various skills and abilities required for the position, the leadership capacity and the maintenance of a school climate focused on cooperation and pedagogical objectives stand out. The present study sought to analyze the state legislations in all the federative units and the microdata of the National System of Evaluation of Basic Education - SAEB, in order to investigate how the policies of appointment to the position of director are associated to the leadership factors of the director and of School climate, created through the Item Response Theory (TRI). The results shows a statistically significant difference in average school climate and director leadership according to the modality of selection adopted. The highest coefficients obtained are associated with the public tender and the selection process with election. The political indication presented lower averages for these factors and, although it is not directly linked to state policies, they predominate in most of the federative units. On the other hand, the magnitude of this effect is much lower if the different characteristics of each site are compared. Other explanatory variables relevant to this model were also identified. / Os diretores escolares são agentes fundamentais para garantir um ambiente educacional adequado que favoreça o processo de ensino-aprendizagem dos alunos. Entre as diversas competências e habilidades exigidas para o cargo, destacam-se a capacidade de liderança e de manutenção de um clima escolar voltado à cooperação e aos objetivos pedagógicos. O presente estudo buscou analisar as legislações estaduais em todas as unidades federativas e os microdados do Sistema Nacional de Avaliação da Educação Básica – SAEB, a fim de investigar como as políticas de provimento ao cargo de diretor estão associadas aos fatores de liderança do diretor e de clima escolar, criados por meio da Teoria de Resposta ao Item - TRI. Os resultados mostram que existe diferença estatisticamente significante na média de clima escolar e de liderança do diretor de acordo com a modalidade de seleção de diretor adotada. Os maiores coeficientes obtidos estão associados ao concurso público e ao processo seletivo com eleição. Já a indicação política apresentou menores médias para estes fatores e, embora não esteja diretamente vinculada a políticas estaduais, predominam na maioria das unidades federativas. Por outro lado, a magnitude deste efeito é bem inferior se comparadas as diferentes características de cada local. Também se identificaram outras variáveis explicativas relevantes para este modelo.

The aim of this thesis is to give an interpretation on the responsibility and liability of the statutory bodies of the company, as the statutory body presents a series of rights and obligations, the omission or improper performance can have on society and individuals far-reaching consequences. The thesis contains an analysis of the Act No. 418/2011 Coll. the criminal liability of legal persons and proceedings against them, defining the type of criminal liability of legal persons in Europe and comparison of Czech and Slovak legislation. At the conclusion are included proposals de lege designed law relating to the provisions of Act No. 418/2011 Coll.

Para tal, realizamos pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e de campo, recorrendo à literatura em administração/gestão escolar, às diretrizes governamentais em âmbito nacional e estaduais e entrevistas com diretores atuantes de ambos os estados. Visando a articular os três discursos - literário, político e prático -, optamos pelo apoio da Análise Discursiva Textualmente Orientada (ADTO) para analisar as entrevistas. Do ponto de vista da literatura da área, a teoria em administração/gestão escolar, principalmente a partir da década de 1980, passou a refutar os pressupostos empresariais que a norteavam, sendo assim, de um líder de comando, que possuía principalmente o caráter técnico da função, o diretor passou a ser perspectivado como um líder político para exercer a função articulada à sua comunidade escolar. Esta questão é reforçada nas diretrizes governamentais em âmbito nacional, pois constatamos que não há uma abordagem acerca da função específica do diretor, porque nos documentos há a defesa dos princípios e fundamentos da gestão democrática. Inerente a estas questões, a forma de ingresso do diretor nas escolas passou a ser discutida, em âmbito nacional, como uma das possíveis vivências escolares democráticas. Devido à descentralização da educação, a opção pela forma de ingresso do diretor ficou sob responsabilidade dos governos estaduais e municipais, sendo que os primeiros, no ano de 2015, realizaram principalmente seleções mistas de escolha e eleição direta via comunidade escolar, havendo algumas práticas isoladas de concurso público e indicação política. Visando a analisar estas questões a partir das redes estaduais de São Paulo e do Paraná, em que ambas possuem identidade histórica acerca de sua opção para o ingresso dos diretores, constatamos, a partir da análise de documentos, que as diretrizes governamentais destes estados atribuem diferentes direcionamentos acerca de sua administração/gestão escolar que se articulam às funções dos diretores na escola. As diretrizes da rede estadual paulista indicam um perfil de diretor que exerça a liderança, configurando uma prática em que suas funções se mostraram direcionadas por aspectos substancialmente burocráticos; as diretrizes da rede estadual paranaense indicam, por sua vez, uma direção mais flexível e articulada às diferentes instâncias na escola. Desta forma, articulando o discurso das diretrizes estaduais com os dos diretores, notamos que, enquanto a rede paulista mostrou-se mais alinhada a concepções técnicas da função do diretor, a direção da rede paranaense mostrou-se mais alinhada a concepções políticas. Além destas questões, há elementos que aproximam os discursos e as práticas dos diretores eleitos e concursados, o que nos indica, que para além das diferenças advindas de suas formas de ingresso, as especificidades da escola acarretam virtudes e problemáticas próprias. / The objective of this research was to analyze the functions of the elected directors of public Paraná state network and functions of gazetted officers of the public network of São Paulo, articulating them with their proper forms of entry into the school system. To this end, we conducted literature, documentary and field, drawing on literature in administration / school management, government policies at the national and state level and interviews with active directors of both states. Aiming to articulate the three speeches - literary, political and practical - we opted for the support of Discourse Analysis Verbatim Oriented (ADTO) to analyze the interviews. From the point of view of literature in the field, the theory in administration / school management, especially from the 1980s, went on to refute the business assumptions that guided, therefore, a command leader, who mainly had the technical character the function, the director came to be viewed as a political leader to exercise the hinged function of your school community. This point is reinforced in the government guidelines nationwide, as we find that there is no specific approach on the director role, because the documents for the defense of the principles and foundations of democratic management. Inherent in these issues, how to ticket director in schools began to be discussed at the national level, as one possible democratic school experiences. Because of the decentralization of education, the choice of form of entry director was the responsibility of state and local governments, and the first, in 2015, mainly held mixed selections of choice and direct election via school community, with some isolated practices tendering and political statement. Aiming to examine the issues from the state networks of São Paulo and Paraná, where both have historical identity about his choice for the entry of the directors, we find, from the analysis of documents, that government policies of these states assign different directions about administration / school management that are linked to the functions of the directors in school.The guidelines state public indicate a director profile holding the lead, setting up a practice in which their functions are shown directed by substantially bureaucratic aspects; the guidelines of the Paraná state network show, in turn, a more flexible and articulated steering to different instances at school. Thus, articulating the discourse of state guidelines with the directors, we note that, while the São Paulo network was more aligned to technical conceptions of the role of the director, the direction of Paraná network was more aligned with political views. Apart from these issues, there are elements that bring the discourses and practices of elected and gazetted officers, which tells us that beyond the differences arising from forms of entry, the school specificities lead virtues and problems.

A Ilha de Bom Jesus dos Passos, Ilha dos Frades e Ilha de Maré foram estudadas através de uma abordagem que buscou estabelecer relação entre os conceitos de espaço, território e lugar. Partindo de uma concepção de que o espaço existe a priori sob o território e o lugar, foram levantados elementos que caracterizam a formação das ilhas. Desta forma, foi de fundamental importância conhecer o espaço estudado, sua história e os mecanismos que interferiram na formação da paisagem atual. Utilizou-se como fonte fundamental de dados as reportagens de jornais, que puderam mostrar a evolução da visão sobre as ilhas, bem como da própria formação do espaço. No período que vai de 1912 a 2010 inúmeras reportagens foram catalogadas fornecendo um material riquíssimo para análise. Com base nesse conhecimento e no levantamento de dados a partir de outras fontes documentais e do contato com o próprio objeto de pesquisa, por meio de visitas de campo, registros fotográficos, aplicação de questionários e entrevistas, observação in loco, consolidou-se dados para caracterização das dimensões que compõem a dinâmica destes territórios. Dentro da perspectiva que o território também é um lugar, que possui uma dimensão simbólica e subjetiva, teve relevante importância para este trabalho a compreensão do lugar das ilhas. Como parte da análise das perspectivas para esta localidade e do planejamento institucional foram analisados o Plano Diretor de Desenvolvimento Urbano e o Plano Estratégico do Turismo Náutico na Baía de Todos os Santos. / This research was conducted a spatial analysis of the islands which are part of the city of Salvador. Bom Jesus dos Passos Island, Frades Island and Maré Island were studied by means of an approach that sought to establish a relationship between the concepts of space, territory and place. Starting from a design of the space there is a priori in the territory and the place, were raised elements that characterize the formation of the islands. In this way, it was of fundamental importance to know the area studied, its history and the mechanisms that interfered in training the current landscape. It was used as key source of data for the reports of newspapers, which could show the evolution of the vision on the islands, as well as the formation of the area. In the period from 1912 to 2010 many reports have been cataloged by providing a rich material for analysis. On the basis of this knowledge and the collection of data from other sources of documentation and the contact with the object of research, by means of field visits, photographic records, questionnaires and interviews, on-site observation, has been consolidated data to characterize the dimensions that constitute the dynamics of these territories. Within the perspective that the territory is also a place that has a symbolic dimension is subjective, was important in this work to the understanding of the place of the islands. As part of the analysis of the prospects for this locality and the institutional planning were analyzed the Master Plan for Urban Development and the Strategic Plan of Nautical Tourism in the All Saints Bay
