I fokus för denna uppsats ligger främlingskapets problematik i två barndomsskildringar, Walter Ljungquists Källan (1961) och Mare Kandres Aliide, Aliide (1991). Analysen kretsar kring följande frågor: Hur konstrueras barnets främlingskap i båda berättelserna från två skilda tider? På vilket sätt präglar författarnas filosofiska och estetiska insikter den litterära bilden av barnets främlingskap? Vilka olikheter och likheter finns i de två gestaltningarna av barnets främlingskap i förhållande till den andre och till sig själv? Med utgångspunkten i existentiella, psykoanalytiska och antroposofiska perspektiv bildar jag mig en uppfattning om främlingskapets ursprung och dess filosofiska betydelse i olika teoretiska diskurser. / <p>Denna masteruppsats kan vara intressant för alla litteraturvetare som använder psykoanalysen som en teoretisk nyckel. Analysens komparativa karaktär kan även betraktas som en personlig insats i den komparativa litteraturvetenskapen.</p>

Syftet med denna uppsats var att studera hur individer inom organisationer, företag och myndigheter som arbetar med barnsexturismfrågor upplevde sitt arbete. Detta för att forska i hur de upplever att globaliseringen inverkar på arbetet mot barnsexturism. Häri inkluderas faktorer som lagstiftning och hur nationellt och internationellt samarbete fungerar. Vi har genomfört en intervjuundersökning med sju kvinnor och en man. Intervjuerna har tolkats enligt en hermeneutisk ansats. De teoretiska utgångspunkterna var Giddens och Castells teorier om globalisering och Loomba och Saids teorier kring den Andre. Sett ur ett globaliseringsperspektiv är barnsexturismfrågan komplex. Det finns många bidragande faktorer som t.ex. fattigdom, efterfrågan och eurocentrism som påverkar arbetet mot barnsexturism, vilket vi funnit gör att arbetet upplevs bli försvårat. Förutsättningarna kring lagar och brottsutredning är ytterligare orsaker som vi funnit gör att få förövare blir dömda.

Uppsatsen syftar till att få en inblick i hur dubbla etniciteter gestaltas och konstrueras i två svenska samtida självbiografier. Utifrån en narrativ textanalys har jag velat ge en tolkning av min frågeställning som övergripande handlar om identitetskonstruktion och hur skildringar av dubbla etniciteter gestaltas i samtida litteratur. Det empiriska materialet utgörs av två självbiografier som har fungerat som analysunderlag. Genom att analysera författarnas texter har jag närmat mig författarnas komplexa skildringar av sina dubbla etniska identiteter. Begrepp som identitet, etnicitet, nationalism, kultur, den Andre och Homi K. Bhabhas teori om hybriditet har varit användbara i min analys. Undersökningen visar på hur författarnas berättelser skildrar olika positionerar och förhållningssätt gentemot normerande strukturer.

My paper, “Us and Them – an analysis of the creation of “the Other” in The Reluctant Fundamentalist and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas”, aims to examine Mohsin Hamid´s and John Boyne´s novels from the years 2007 and 2008. The paper tries to answer the following questions: How is “the Other”and“Us and Them”created in the novels? And: What consequences does the thinking in terms of “the Other”and“Us and Them”lead to in the novels? The examination is done through the method of close reading and by applying the theory of Orientalism and Edward W. Said’s analysis of the theory to the reading. It is, I believe, of utmost importance for teachers to create unity among their pupils, and peaceful and democratic classrooms where co-work is promoted. This is especially important in multi-cultural classrooms where different ethnicities, cultures, religions, nationalities, and so on, are present and represented. Unity, peace, democracy, and co-work prevent negative ways of thinking in terms of “the Other”or/and“Us and Them”among pupils, and they are also terms that the curriculum refer to. Literature can be a tool and a method to do this by, used properly. This is why I, a becoming teacher, have decided to close examine two novels that many Swedish schools have in class settings and find out whether they are creating unity, peace, and democracy between people or if they on the contrary are creating disruption between people and maybe support negative ways of thinking in terms of “the Other”and“Us and Them”. The examination of the novels revealed that they both do create “the Other”and“Us and Them ”and that it leads to negative consequences in the novels. But this only makes the novels perfect material for teaching, if, the teacher offering this material to pupils does not just expect pupils to read the novels, but helps them reflect upon them and problematize the themes, the events, and the characters in them.

Zlatans staty blir vandaliserad efter ett affärsbeslut, som egentligen inte har något med hans identitet att göra men ändå så skrivs det en hel del om honom som ’’den andre’’. Syftet med denna undersökningen är att ta reda på hur Zlatan representeras efter detta affärsbeslutet i nätpublikationerna jag valde att analysera. Till och med om det finns likheter om vad som skrivs mellan dessa tre olika nätpublikationerna jag valde att avgränsa mig till: Svenska Dagbladet, Sydsvenskan samt Dagens Nyheter. Nio artiklar sammanlagt men tre artiklar per nätpublikation, därför har jag valt att använda mig av kvalitativ metod såsom textanalys. I analysen kommer jag koppla resultatet till teorier som den föreställda gemenskapen, representation samt gestaltningsteorin. Resultatet visar att det finns likheter hur de olika nätpublikationera representerar Zlatan efter affärsbeslutet, det vill säga som ’’den andre’’. / Zlatan's statue is vandalized after a business decision, which really has nothing to do with his identity, but still a lot is written about him as "the other". The purpose of this survey is to find out how Zlatan is represented after this business decision in the online publications I chose to analyze. I also want to find out if there are any similarities between the three online publications I chose: Svenska Dagbladet, Sydsvenskan and Dagens Nyheter. Nine articles in total but three articles per online publication, therefore I have chosen to use a qualitative method such as text analysis. In the analysis, I will link the results to theories such as the imagined community, representation and the design theory. The results show that there are similarities in how the different online publications represent Zlatan after the business decision, is as "the other".

Syftet med uppsatsen är att ta reda på hur Den Andre (Icke Europa och urfolk) framställs i tre läroböcker i spanska. Uppsatsen utgår från teorin om Den Andre av främst Tzvetan Todorov och metoden är textanalys. Resultaten visar att Europa framställs som viktigare än Latinamerika. De latinamerikanska länderna har en stark underrepresentation och även urfolk ges mycket litet utrymme. Urfolks röster görs inte hörda och risk för exotifiering av urfolk finns. Även risk för stereotyper av latinamerikaner finns. Västvärldens våld, koloniseringen av Amerika, utesluts nästan helt.

Arbetet är en teoretisk fördjupning genom en litteraturstudie kring begreppet den Andre.Studien tar upp begreppet utifrån olika discipliner som filosofi, kulturstudier ochpsykologi, främst psykoanalys men även i en mer allmän betydelse. Studien sätter ävenden Andre i en historisk kontext samt belyser olika sammanhang som begreppet haranvänts och används i, inom samhällsvetenskapen.Studien visar att den Andre har skilda betydelser inom olika discipliner samt attolika teoretiker har lagt in olika innebörder i begreppet. Samtidigt finns det ocksågemensamma beröringspunkter. Bland annat är den Andre på olika sättmeningsskapande och något relativt, vi är varandras den Andre, förutom i undantagsfall.I flera sammanhang finns det också en maktdimension kopplat till begreppet.Den Andre förklaras och beskrivs sedan i ett gestaltande arbete i form av en tecknadserie. Vem är den Andre? En serie som gör anspråk på att vara pedagogisk så till vidaatt den förklarar olika innebörder av begreppet.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to clarify and analyze alienation, as a social phenomenon described in two teenage books. The study will also examine the creation of sympathy towards main characters and what impact the novel as a whole could have on it. The intention is also to uncover the role of the Other, as well as to visualize the creation of distance between different ethnic groups. Method: The study is based on a qualitative text-analysis. It includes four different dimensions, including the author’s background and the researcher´s interpretation. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that it´s possible to find values in both of the novels, and therefore makes it possible to create opinions and statements that may contribute to alienation. It also demonstrates that alienation can appear in different forms based on the characters different background. Question formulation: What attitudes and values towards immigration, ethnicity and alienation can be found in the two novels? How are they conveyed in the two novels? What differences and similarities could be found in the characters' ethnic alienation?

The purpose of this Master’s thesis is to investigate the descriptions of characters and settings in four autobiographies. The main question is: What picture of women and men, of the West and the Orient do these books provide? To answer this question we have formed three sub questions, which are: In what ways are main and minor characters described? In what ways are the key settings, and the Western and Oriental societies described? Which themes are dealt with, and from what points of departure? The theoretical framework is based on a postcolonial theoretical perspective, where the concept of binary opposites and Edward W. Said’s ideas about orientalism are crucial. The method used is a textual analysis. To analyze the material, a number of analysis questions were designed with the main question, and its sub questions, as a basis. The result shows that descriptions of characters and settings have dramaturgic functions of forming a background to the story. Accordingly, the same features may be described in either negative or positive terms, due to what aspect of the story the book currently deals with. The conclusion suggests that colonial stereotypes are evident today in popular literature, such as these autobiographies, in fact, they are even stronger than they used to be. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Det gränslösa murbyggandet är en studie i politisk teori om den liberala paradoxen i murens politik, det vill säga; hur vi i denna globala värld å ena sidan har idealet om öppna gränser och hög rörelsefrihet, å andra sidan bygger vi fler murar och fortifierar gränser mer än någonsin. Med avstamp i sex olika studier av forskare inom området politisk teori diskuteras vilket arbete muren utför – politiskt, ekonomiskt och ideologiskt, hur dessa paradoxer uppstår, vad som föreslås vara vägen framåt och hur teorierna om muren skiljer sig åt. Analysen är indelad efter de tre paradoxerna som går att utläsa ur den så kallade ’överordnade’ liberala paradoxen. De tre paradoxerna berör ekonomi, suveränitet och säkerhet, och effektivitet. Avslutningsvis sammanfattas kärnan i de tre paradoxerna men det diskuteras även huruvida rädslan för ’den andre’ kan hjälpa till att lösa upp paradoxerna.
