The research aimed to make a literary relationship between these narratives and themes relating to identity and freedom, trying to identify them and their convergences and divergences, while forms of writing the I. Aimed to demonstrate the power of speech, whether oral, written is, and the effects of these narratives in the constitution of doing and being the man. This is because language acts serve as a reference to the search for identity and recognition process of a nation as well, denouncing the loss of freedom of expression and the right of a people. This study theoretical foundation works The autobiographical pact De-Rousseau to Internet, Philippe Lejeune about writing the I; Cultural identity in postmodernity, Stuart Hall, on sociological conceptions of identity and freedom; Truth and Method I; Hans George Gadamer, on the question of how the game of language combines with the game of art and how one relates to the other; The collective memory of Maurice Halbwachs on collective memory and individual memory; The diary and the narrative of Maurice Blanchot, on how to distinguish the fictional diary the intimis diary. These works and these theorists, among others, worked as media in which we rely on to support this study.

The predominant theory to establish these modes of reception and your senses from the reader was the theory of reception, by Wolfgang Iser (1996). In Chapter 1, it was presented a brief history of the origin of the novel. Then, complementary theories were used, as the one of Norman Friedman (1967) and Ligia Leite (2002) that analyzed the narrative focus in the novel. In Chapter 2, it was commented on: contemporary critical currents; the narrative point of view, from Jean Pouillon (1974); the subject-reader and immersion of the senses, by Rita Costa (2003) and Mikhail Bakhtin (1992); the techniques of stream of consciousness, especially of the inner monologue, by Robert Humphrey (1954), and the adoption of the diary, by Philippe Lejeune (2008). In Chapter 3, there was a study of the symbols in the work, as it moves something common to the symbolic. The authors Jean Chevalier e Alain Geerbrant Chevalier (2009) served as a support for this chapter, besides Carl Jung (1954). The hedgehog elegance , so, is a renowned work of high value that reflects the new novel composition for the world literature.

Gama, Mônica Fernanda Rodrigues 11 October 2013 (has links)
During the reading of many of Guimarães Rosas narratives, the reader can sometimes encounter a character or a narrator that can be seen as the self-representation of the writer himself due to the association between textual aspects (themes, characters, narrators) and the readers information about the author. This identification can also be the result of the adjusting of the text to the repertoire of images and authorial postures which then interact with aspects of the work in question the writer himself can tap into this repertoire in order to construct his image as an author. This thesis discusses how Guimarães Rosa created these authorial images, aiming to understand the dynamics that sustain the relationship between the authorial figuration and the literary field; we also analyze the process of self-representation through public (interviews and testimonies) and private (journals and other manuscripts) interactions during which we can observe the writer producing images of himself and affirming authorial postures that suggest modes of interpretation of his works. In relation to Rosas texts, we analyze articles first published in magazines and then organized in Tutaméia Terceiras Estórias (1967), Estas Estórias (1969) e Ave, Palavra (1970).

Kvantitativní a kvalitativní rozbor spojek ve vybrané dětské literatuře / Quantitative and qualitative analysis of the conjuctions in the selected children's literature

Rybáková, Jana January 2018 (has links)
This thesis describe distribution of conjunction in the first seven books "Diary of a Wimpy kid". It compare and analyse those conjunctions with its usage in school lessons (through one part of a Czech national corpus - SCHOLA2010) and with text from students (through a corpus SKRIPT2012). I compare also the situation with conjunctions distribution in the textbook for 5th grade students named More vlast je v Evropě. It also research how and which one of multiword conjunction are in these texts used. It also shows, which conjunctions are used like a first member of the sentence. This thesis may analyse, which conjunctions hears, reads and uses a fictitious 5th grade student. It should be connected with a school. This thesis ignore a language situation in the family and medial communication. Analysed books may enrich students vocabulary, because it contents huge number of multiword conjunction. The most used conjunctions in books and students text are "a", "že" and "ale". The textbook contains huge number of "a" and "i".

O Diário de um Desesperado: tradução crítica do relato de Friedrich Reck-Malleczewen escrito na Alemanha Nazista entre 1936 e 1944 / Diary of a man in despair: commented translation, to the Portuguese Language, of Friedrich Reck-Malleczewens journal written in Nazi Germany between the years of 1936 to 1944

Andre Caramuru Teixeira Aubert 13 May 2016 (has links)
For a little more than eight years, the German writer Friedrich Reck-Malleczewen kept a diary, where he registered his impressions related to the Nazi government, to which he was radically opposed. The journal was interrupted only when the Gestapo arrested Reck for the second time, sending him to Dachau, where he died a few weeks before the arrival of the allied troops. Reck-Malleczewens testimony, along with the personal drama it carries, is especially relevant because it represents the voice of a conservative opposition to the Nazi government, a voice from someone who was not, at least not initially, a target to the Nazis. Here we translate, for the first time to the Portuguese language, the Reck-Malleczewns journal, trying to put it, through comments and footnotes, in the context in which has been written.

The look for the writing of literary text has resulted in a more direct interaction with the reader and has demanded a coparticipation in the meaning-making of the text, because the metafictional, along side other narrative strategies, instead of making the reading easier, has problematized it. The novel narcissistic look has accentuated, too, the reflection on many aspects, such as: the intertextuality and the assimilation of other discursive genres. In this sense, this work has aimed the study of these referred aspects in two novels from authors that belonged to the same period, but in different countries and that used, practically, the same aesthetic resources: Bolor (1999), from the Portuguese writer Augusto Abelaira, published in 1968, and A rainha dos cárceres da Grécia (1979), from the Brazilian writer Osman Lins, published in 1979. Thus, the present study is justified for both of the novels have, in their composition, very similar narrative strategies: explicit intertextuality with universal literature works from different periods, metafictionality and the use of the diary novel form. Other aspects are correlated to these ones, as the fusion of time and space, similar themes in both works, voice plurality, amongst others. This work’s aim is based on the assumption that the studies of the referred aspects, having as a starting point the intertextual relations in the novels of Abelaira and Lins with the work that they quote, is constituted in a reading key to the meaning-making in each one of these novels. To accomplish this comparative study, theories that base the composition aspects of these novels were used. Regarding intertextuality, Mikhail Bakhtin’s (1981), Julia Kristeva’s (1974), Laurent Jenny’s (1979) e Gerard Genette’s (2006) theories were used. The argumentation around the metafiction idea is sustained, specially, in critical texts about both novels. To study the diary novel issue, Valérie Raoul’s (1999), Béatrice Didier’s (1976), Sheila Dias Maciel’s (2012), Maria Luiza Ritzel Remédios’ (1997) theories were used, amongst others. To accomplish the study of such aspects, based on the intertextuality, work quoted on both novels were read. All of the quoted texts in Bolor were analyzed, but the book Dias íntimos, for it was sold out at the bookstores. Among the quoted texts in A rainha dos cárceres da Grécia, seven works, that have some relation to the strategies studied, were analyzed. We conclude that the narrative strategies that are the structure of both main novels require a participant reader whom may read carefully the diary fragments and make its meanings, taking into account that some of them can only be perceived in the relation of those main novels with the work that they quote.

Inconfessadamente ditoso: trânsitos do eu nas escritas de Roland Barthes e de Ana Cristina Cesar / Unconfessedly joyful: displacements of the written I in works by Roland Barthes and Ana Cristina Cesar

Oliveira, Priscila Pesce Lopes de 17 August 2015 (has links)
Ana Cristina Cesar and Roland Barthes are often described as having an intimist and subjective diction, which specialized study shows to be the result of very specific articulations of I in their texts. Likewise, this dissertation traces the dynamics of intersection, autonomy and transit between writer and speaker in the writings of Ana C. and Barthes. It examines the deliberate inclusion of certain writers biographical data in the oeuvre arena, which roots writing in biography as a project for Barthes and as unease for Ana C.. This work discusses the diary as a writing arena for modulating the I, as well as related notions such as subjectivity and identity, given that the two authors work the genre with literary purposes and thus operate certain shifts in it. This study also investigates relationships between the meticulous textual I and the Other, on two fronts: photography in the authors books and the longing for the other, as an interlocutor for Ana C. and as subject and reason of narrative for Barthes. The analysis focuses on Ana C.s A teus pés, Crítica e Tradução and the iconography of Inéditos e Dispersos, and Barthes Camera Lucida, Incidents and Roland Barthes by Roland Barthes.

Time Use and Depressive Symptoms in Adolescence

Laura Desha Unknown Date (has links)
ABSTRACT When depressive illness has its onset during adolescence it can exert a profound negative influence upon the individual and their daily functioning. Early identification of young people at risk of, or already experiencing, depressive symptoms is critical to enabling targeted intervention from clinicians, including occupational therapists. Early identification, however, is hampered by an incomplete understanding of how the disorder manifests in the daily lives of adolescents. The mental health determinants and sequelae of engagement in everyday activities represent core concerns of occupational therapists. As part of therapy with adolescents in Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), occupational therapists endeavour to improve health by assessing time use, and engaging in interventions which explicitly target involvement in daily activity. Notwithstanding current practice, evidence for a link between actual time use and depressive symptom severity is scant. Background and Research Aims In this thesis the time use of adolescents is explored and related to depressive symptom severity in a series of three cross sectional studies. In keeping with ecologically- and occupation-focussed theoretical models of health and adolescent development (Bronfenbrenner & Morris, 2006; Poulsen & Ziviani, 2004; World Health Organization, 2002), a novel approach to the study of time use has been taken. The studies quantify the amount of time that adolescents are exposed to the various conditions inherent in activities and their ecological settings. In conceptualising time use as ‘exposure’, attention is drawn specifically to common affordances of activities. In this thesis these are described as ‘underlying dimensions’ of time use. Key underlying dimensions of interest include (a) ‘physical exertion’ in daily time use, (b) time spent with different social partners, and (c) time engaged in structured activities. The studies make use of cumulative estimates of time use by summing each episode of exposure to the underlying dimensions of time use, across the out-of-school hours. This research was conducted with the aims of (a) aiding early identification of adolescents who are vulnerable to depressive illness, (b) examining the evidence for the assessment of time use in CYMHS, (c) identifying aspects of adolescent time use which are appropriate targets for occupational therapists’ intervention, and (d) directing future research into the effectiveness of time use-focussed interventions offered by occupational therapists to adolescents who are vulnerable to depressive illness. Methodology and Study Findings All the studies involve secondary analysis of interview and time diary data collected from a nationally representative sample of approximately 730 adolescents (13-18 years) participating in the Panel Study of Income Dynamics Child Development Supplement II. Data were gathered in 2002/2003 by the Institute of Social Research at the University of Michigan in America. Studies 1 and 2 employ ordinal logistic regression analyses to separately explore two of the underlying dimensions of time use, namely the physical exertion in daily activity, and the time spent engaged in activity alone or with key social partners (including parents, siblings and friends). These studies indicate that time devoted to physical activity of moderate to vigorous intensity does not predict depressive symptom severity, breadth of participation in sporting extracurricular activity may be protective against depressive illness for males. For both genders, factors related to the positive or negative aspects of social relationships (such as adolescents’ ratings of how close they felt to parents, and the extent of risky behaviour among friends) appear to be stronger predictors of depressive symptomatology than the actual amount of time engaged in activity with others. Study 3 is informed conceptually and methodologically by the findings of Studies 1 and 2, and uses structural equation modeling, to examine a complex multivariate model of time use and depressive symptoms. This model incorporates a large range of factors which are theorized to influence the qualitative experience of spending time in a given context (e.g., adolescents’ perceptions of friend acceptance, which may influence the psychological impact of a prolonged encounter with friends). Study 3 reveals that the quantity of time over the course of a weekday or weekend day that adolescents are exposed to different types of activity (e.g., structured extracurricular activity, shared activity with parents) has no direct association with depressive symptom severity. However, an indirect path is identified, whereby the amount of time devoted to joint activity with parents is linked with depressive symptom severity via adolescent perceptions of parent acceptance. Conclusions and Recommendations The studies of this thesis have shown that the conceptualisation and quantification of time use as cumulative exposure to some specific underlying dimensions of engagement, are of little direct assistance in identifying young people who are vulnerable to depressive illness, however, this information may inform a range of clinical practices for occupational therapists working in CYMHS. Information on time use is therefore worth gathering in such services, particularly when it provides insights into social contact. It has been clearly and consistently identified that time use and its links with depression cannot be fully appreciated without considering the nature of adolescents’ relationships with their social partners in time use. Findings indicate that when time spent engaged in joint activity with parents is scant, or when poor relationships with parents are reported, adolescents at risk of depression are likely to benefit from therapy which is directed towards enhancing the quantity and quality of parent-adolescent interactions. The significance of this research lies in the generation of evidence to support further research into time use and its implications for mental health. Greater support for the specialist role of occupational therapists in addressing time use concerns will be gained through future studies which explore the immediate affective experience of spending time in activity, the personal and environmental contextual factors which mediate these experiences, and the implications of such experiences for mental health. Further to the insights gained regarding time use and depressive illness, the thesis presents an approach to research (i.e., a secondary analysis) and research methodologies which may be used by occupational therapists to answer complex questions regarding occupational engagement across the lifespan.
