Maisto papildų vartojimo paplitimas tinklininkų ir rankininkų, bei jų fizinis pajėgumas / Prevalence of food supplements usage for volleyball and handball players‘ and their physical fitness

Tyrimo objektas: Maisto papildų vartojimo paplitimas tinklininkų ir rankininkų, bei jų fizinis pajėgumas. Tyrimo problema: Maisto papildų vartojimo paplitimas tinklininkų ir rankininkų, bei jų fizinis pajėgumas yra mažai nagrinėti teoriniu ir empiriniu lygmeniu. Tikslas: Nustatyti maisto papildų vartojimo paplitimą tinklininkų ir rankininkų, bei jų fizinį pajėgumą. Uždaviniai: 1) Nustatyti ir palyginti įvairių maisto papildų vartojimo ypatumus tinklininkų ir rankininkų grupėse. 2) Nustatyti ir palyginti maisto papildų daromą įtaką fiziniam pajėgumui tinklininkų ir rankininkų grupėse. Hipotezė: Maisto papildų daroma įtaka sportininkų organizmui yra susijusi su geresniu fiziniu pajėgumu. Išvados: 1. Tyrimo dalyviai daugiausia vartojo baltymų ir angliavandenių mišinius, o mažiausiai tarp tiriamųjų buvo vartojami HMB maisto papildai. Tinklininkai labiausiai buvo linkę vartoti baltymų ir angliavandenių mišinius, rankininkai L-karnitiną, amino rūgštis bei baltymų ir angliavandenių mišinius. Rankininkų ir tinklininkų maisto papildų vartojamų preparatų pasirinkimas gana skirtingas. 2. Tinklininkų grupėje, praėjus 6 mėn. nuo tyrimo pradžios, geresniems staigiosios jėgos rezultatams, taikant šuolio į tolį pratimą, reikšmės turėjo amino rūgščių maisto papildų vartojimas, o rankininkų grupėje – kreatino maisto papildų vartojimas. Problem of this study: Prevalence of food supplements usage and their physical fitness (particularly for volleyball and handball players) is a low-examined theoretically and empirically. Aim: Identify the prevalence of food supplements usage for volleyball and handball players‘ and their physical fitness. Tasks: 1) Identify and compare the food supplements usage features for volleyball and handball players. 2) Identify and compare the influence of food supplements for volleyball and handball players’ physical fitness. Hypothesis: The influence of food supplements for athletes’ organism is related with better physical fitness. Findings: 1. Participants of this study mainly used protein and carbohydrates’ mixtures and the least among the subjects were used the HMB supplements. Volleyball players was the most likely to use mixtures’ of protein and carbohydrates, handball players – L-carnitine, amino acids, protein and carbohydrate mixtures. Análise toxicológica de suplementos alimentares e compostos emagrecedores contendo efedrina, p-sinefrina e cafeína

A busca por um padrão estético globalizado e o aumento da obesidade fazem crescer o uso de suplementos alimentares e compostos emagrecedores à base de extratos vegetais. Produtos contendo a associação de p-sinefrina, efedrina, salicina e cafeína são amplamente consumidos e não apresentam efetividade e segurança bem esclarecidas. Portanto, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a toxicidade subcrônica de p-sinefrina, efedrina, cafeína e salicina, isoladas e em associação, em ratos Wistar machos. Doses de salicina 6 mg/kg, efedrina 4 mg/kg, p-sinefrina 10 mg/kg, cafeína 80 mg/kg e a associação de salicina, efedrina, p-sinefrina e cafeína 100 mg/kg (6:4:10:80, respectivamente) foram testadas via oral por 28 dias consecutivos. A massa corporal foi verificada semanalmente e o teste da atividade locomotora foi realizado no 28º dia. O sangue foi coletado para análise bioquímica e órgãos vitais como fígado e rins foram utilizados para avaliação histológica. Os resultados mostraram uma redução significativa (p<0,05) na massa corporal nos dias 21 e 28 do grupo tratado com cafeína comparado ao grupo controle. Nos dias 14, 21 e 28 ocorreu um aumento significativo (p<0,05) da massa corporal no grupo tratado com p-sinefrina comparado com os grupos efedrina, salicina, cafeína e associação. No teste da atividade locomotora houve um aumento significativo (p<0,05) no grupo tratado com a associação comparado ao grupo controle. Não foram encontradas alterações nos marcadores bioquímicos de fígado, rim e coração, bem como nas avaliações macroscópicas dos órgãos vitais. Entretanto, na análise histológica do fígado, verificou-se em todos os grupos a presença de vacuolização e tumefação celular, congestão vascular e alargamento dos sinusóides, e apenas os grupos p-sinefrina, efedrina e salicina apresentaram degeneração hidrópica. Na histologia dos rins todos os grupos demonstraram vacuolização celular e aumento do espaço da cápsula de Bowman e o grupo p-sinefrina mostrou a presença de infiltrado inflamatório. Esses resultados sugerem que o uso dessas substâncias, tanto na forma isolada como em associação, apresenta um perfil toxicológico considerável. / The search for a globalized aesthetic standard and the increasing obesity are enhancing the use of food supplements and weight loss compounds from plant base extracts. Products containing the combination of p-synephrine, ephedrine, caffeine and salicin are widely consumed and the effectiveness and safety are not well understood. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the subchronic toxicity of p-synephrine, ephedrine, caffeine and salicin, isolated and in combination, in male Wistar rats. Doses of salicin 6 mg/kg, ephedrine 4 mg/kg, p-synephrine 10 mg/kg, caffeine 80 mg/kg and the association of salicin, ephedrine, p-synephrine and caffeine (100 mg/kg; 6:4:10:80, respectively) were administered orally for 28 consecutive days. Body weight was recorded weekly and a locomotor activity test was performed on the 28th day. Blood was collected for biochemical analysis and vital organs such as liver and kidneys were used for histologic evaluation. The results showed a significant reduction (p <0.05) in body mass on days 21 and 28 in the caffeine-treated group compared to control group. Besides that, on days 14, 21 and 28 a significant increase (p <0.05) in body weight was observed in the group treated with p-synephrine compared to the ephedrine, salicin, caffeine and association-treated groups. In the test of locomotor activity, a significant increase (p <0.05) was observed in the association-treated group treated compared to the control group. No changes were found in biochemical markers associated with liver, kidney and heart conditions or in macroscopic evaluations of vital organs. However, the histological analysis of the liver in all groups shown presence of cellular vacuolization and swelling, vascular congestion and enlargement of the sinusoids, whereas the p-synephrine, ephedrine and salicin groups exhibited hydropic degeneration. In the histology of kidneys, all groups showed cellular vacuolation and increased of the Bowman's capsule space and the p-synephrine group showed the presence of inflammatory infiltrate. These results suggest that the use of these substances either in isolation or in combination showed a considerable toxicological profile.

ANÁLISE DE ESTIMULANTES EM SUPLEMENTOS ALIMENTARES E PRODUTOS NATURAIS A BASE DE PLANTAS COMERCIALIZADOS PARA FINS DE EMAGRECIMENTO NO BRASIL / ANALYSIS OF STIMULANTS IN DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS AND PLANT-BASED NATURAL PRODUCTS MARKETED FOR WEIGHT LOSS IN BRAZIL

The strong advertising appeal, the search for a good physique, and the improvement in physical performance, has risen the popularity of food supplements and other therapies with slimming supplements based on plant extracts. Since the law exempts food supplements from registration, they are easy targets for importation, commercialization e consumption by the population, which worsens malpractice cases of adulterations. Thus, the objectives of the present work were: research the presence of stimulants in food supplements for both slimming and weight gain; study the addition of synthetic caffeine in natural products based on plants used for weight loss; develop chromatographic methods using HPLC with photodiode detection to detect caffeine, salicin, ephedrine, hordenine, tyramine, octopamine and synephrine (including the L and D enantiomers). The stimulants were separated by reverse phase chromatography using octadecylsilane columns (C18). For L and D synephrine, chromatography with chiral phase of β-cyclodextrin was used. Detection limits varied from 0.02 mg L-1 to 0.35 mg L-1, while quantification limits ranged from 0.07 mg L-1 to 1.16 mg L-1 for the separation of stimulants in food supplements. For analyses of caffeine in herbal products, the LOD and LOQ were 0.048 mg L-1 and 0.16 mg L-1, respectively. For the anlysis of the enantiomers of p-synephrine, the L enantiomer presented a detection limit of 0.11 mg L-1 and quantification limit of 0.36 mg L-1, while the D enantiomer exhibited a detection limit of 0.41 mg L-1 and a quantification limit of 1.36 mg L-1. Each method developed was then applied to the sample, which were, dietary supplement samples (n = 47), herbal products (n = 100), and fruits of Citrus aurantium. Caffeine was the most frequent of the studied stimulants, often exceeding the labeled content and the maximum dose per day recommended (420 mg). The food supplements presented caffeine, synephrine and ephedrine as main stimulants in 53% of the studied samples. / O forte apelo do mercado publicitário, aliado à busca por um corpo padrão e à melhora no desempenho físico faz com que a popularidade dos suplementos alimentares e a associação destes com outras terapias envolvendo compostos emagrecedores a base de plantas seja cada vez maior. A lei que isenta de registro os suplementos alimentares, os torna alvo de fácil importação, comercialização e consumo pela população em geral, agravando ainda a prática de adulteração sobre os mesmos. Logo, este trabalho teve como objetivos: pesquisar a presença de estimulantes em suplementos alimentares para fins de emagrecimento, estudar a incidência de cafeína sintética adicionada em produtos naturais à base de plantas utilizadas para perda de peso; desenvolver métodos cromatográficos emplregando HPLC com detecção com arranjo de fotodiodos (DAD) para a determinação de cafeína, salicina, efedrina, hordenina, tiramina, octopamina e sinefrina (incluindo seus enantiômeros L e D). Os estimulantes foram separados por cromatografia de fase reversa em colunas de octadecilsilano (C18) e os enantiômeros por cromatografia de par iônico com fase quiral de β ciclodextrina. Os limites de detecção (LD) variaram de 0,02 mg L-1 a 0,35 mg L-1, já os limites de quantificação (LQ) ficaram na faixa de 0,07 mg L-1 e 1,16 mg L-1 na separação dos estimulantes em suplementos alimentares. Para as análises de cafeína em produtos naturais a base de plantas, os LD e LQ foram 0,048 mg L-1 e 0,16 mg L-1 respectivamente. Para os enantiômeros da p-sinefrina, o enantiômero L apresentou LD de 0,11 mg L-1 e LQ de 0,36 mg L-1, já o enantiômero D exibiu um LD de 0,41 mg L-1 e LQ de 1,36 mg L-1. Cada método desenvolvido foi posteriormente aplicado em amostras de suplementos alimentares (n=47), produtos naturais à base de plantas (n=100) e fruto de Citrus aurantium. Dos compostos estudados, a cafeína foi a que se apresentou mais frequente, muitas vezes excedendo os teores rotulados nos produtos, ou então a dose máxima recomendada por dia (420 mg). Já os suplementos alimentares apresentaram cafeína, sinefrina e efedrina como principais estimulantes em 53% das amostras estudadas.

Probiotika pro dětskou výživu / Probiotics for children's nutrition

This Diploma thesis deals with probiotic bacterias for children nutrition. It proposes a probiotic food supplement with a probiotic blend composed of a strain of the genus Lactobacillus and of the genus Bifidobacterium, which would be most suitable for infant consumers. The theoretical part is focused on probiotics, constitution of the children´s ganstrointestinal tract and screening of probiotic and gelatine supplements which are already sold on the market. In the experimental part, probiotic bacteria were subjected to model digestion, whereby mixtures of strains having the lowest reduction in viability after digestion were blend based on the results. The blend of Bifidobacterium breve CCM 7825T, Bifidobacterium longum CCM 4990 and Lactobacillus casei CCM 4798 was chosen as the most suitable blend of the lowest viability reduction. PCR in real time was demonstrated the presence of all strains added to the blend after model digestion. Finally, from the data was suggested a more comprehensive probiotic food supplement in the form of an alginate-agar gummy-bear for children over three years of age. The probiotic food supplement was subjected to sensory analysis too. The proposed probiotic food supplement also contained Chlorella and Spirulina active compounds and higher content of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in hemp oil.

Kauno miesto sporto klubų lankytojų požiūris į maisto papildų vartojimą / The Attitude of Kaunas City Sport club visitors to the use of food supplements

Darbo tikslas. Nustatyti ir įvertinti maisto papildų paplitimą ir vartojimą Kauno miesto sporto klubų lankytojų tarpe. Uždaviniai. Apžvelgti Kauno miesto sporto klubų lankytojų mitybos ypatumus; nustatyti ir įvertinti Kauno miesto sporto klubų lankytojų požiūrį į maisto papildų vartojimą; palyginti Kauno miesto sporto klubų lankytojų ir Kauno medicinos universiteto III ir IV kurso studentų požiūrius į maisto papildų vartojimą Tyrimo metodika. Atlikta mokslinės literatūros bei anoniminė anketinė apklausa, kurioje dalyvavo 300 Kauno miesto sporto klubų lankytojų. Statistinei surinktų duomenų analizei naudotas SPSS paketas ir MS EXEL programa. Rezultatai. Atliktas tyrimas parodė, kad beveik du trečdaliai respondentų įsitikinę maisto papildų nauda organizmui ir didžioji jų dalis vartoja įvairius maisto papildus siekdami sustiprinti imunitetą, įgyti energijos ir greičiau atsistatyti po treniruotės. Vyrai dažnai vartoja maisto papildus raumenų masei didinti, tuo tarpu moterys labiau linkusios vartoti maisto papildus kūno masei mažinti ir bendrai organizmo veiklai gerinti. Pastebėta, kad sporto klubų lankytojai ne tik pasitiki sporto klubų trenerių žiniomis apie maisto papildus, bet ir renka tokią informaciją patys, tačiau rinkdamiesi maisto papildus nėra linkę tartis su gydytojais. Dauguma vartojusiųjų maisto papildus pajuto jų teigiamą poveikį organizmui. Išvados. To identify and to evaluate prevalence of food supplements among sport club visitors in Kaunas City. Objectives. To review nutrition peculiarities of sport club visitors; to identify and to evaluate views of sport club visitors to food supplement consumption; and to compare views sport club visitors to supplement consumption views of 3rd and 4th year Kaunas Medical University (KMU) students. Methods. An analysis of scientific literature and an anonymous questionnaire survey encompassing 300 Kaunas City sport club visitors were performed. The SSPS software package and MS Excel application were used for the statistical data analysis. Results. The investigation has shown that almost two thirds of respondents are sure that food supplements are beneficial for their organism and a large part of them use various food supplements in order to improve their immunity, to gain more energy and to recover more quickly after their training sessions. Men often use food supplements to increase their muscle mass, while women are more inclined to use food supplements to reduce their body mass and to improve general state of organism. It has been noticed that sport club visitors trust their trainers’ knowledge about food supplements and also gather such information individually; however, they are not inclined to consult a doctor when they chose food supplements. Determinação dos teores de cromo e manganês nas frações bioacessíveis de suplementos alimentares

Para o desenvolvimento dos métodos, as frações bioacessíveis foram submetidas à digestão assistida por radiação micro-ondas e posterior otimização instrumental das temperaturas de pirólise e atomização. Para o manganês, nas amostras de whey protein e protein bar, obteve-se as mesmas temperaturas de pirólise e atomização: 1100 e 1600 °C, respectivamente; para hipercalóricos foi empregado o uso de modificador químico, Mg(NO3)2, e suas temperaturas de pirólise e atomização foram de 1200 e 1700 °C, respectivamente. Para o cromo, não foi preciso o uso de modificador e as temperaturas de pirólise e atomização otimizadas foram as mesmas para as três amostras: 1500 e 2300 °C, respectivamente. A exatidão dos métodos foi investigada através de ensaios de adição e recuperação de analito, apresentando para o manganês valores na faixa de 84 a 113% e para o cromo, valores entre 101 e 116%. A precisão dos métodos também foi avaliada, mostrando desvios padrões relativos menores que 15%. A massa característica (m0), limites de detecção (LD) e quantificação (LQ) para os métodos de cromo foram de 1,9 pg, 0,07 μg g-1 e 0,2 μg g-1, respectivamente; para manganês em hipercalórico os valores obtidos foram de 1,8 pg, 0,03 e 0,08 μg g-1; já em whey protein e protein bar os mesmos foram de 4,2 pg, 0,12 μg g-1 e 0,3 μg g-1. Os métodos desenvolvidos foram aplicados em 12 amostras de suplementos alimentares, sendo 4 de hipercalóricos, 3 de whey protein e 5 de protein bar. Foram observados valores de porcentagem de bioacessibilidade para cromo: 12% em whey protein, 16% em protein bar e, 39 e 49% em hipercalóricos. Em contrapartida, somente uma amostra de whey protein apresentou porcentagem bioacessível não significativa para manganês, e os resultados variaram de 6 até 99%. / This study describes methods for the determination of two minerals, chromium and manganese, in the bioaccessible fractions of food supplements, like hypercaloric, whey protein and protein bars, by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. For the development of the methods, the bioaccessible fractions were submitted to digestion assisted by microwave radiation and posterior instrumental optimization of pyrolysis and atomization temperatures. For manganese, whey protein and protein bars samples obtained the same pyrolysis and atomization temperatures: 1100 and 1600 °C, respectively; for hypercaloric, the use of the modifier Mg(NO3)2 was employed and the pyrolysis and atomization temperatures were 1200 and 1700 °C, respectively. For chromium, it was not necessary the modifier and the pyrolysis and atomization temperatures for the three types of samples were 1500 and 2300 °C, respectively. The accuracy of the methods were investigated through addition and recovery tests; for manganese the study showed reveries in a range of 84 to 113% and for chromium in a range of 101 to 116%. The precision of the methods was also evaluated and presented relative standard deviation values smaller than 15%. The characteristic mass (mo), limits of detection (LD) and quantification (LQ) for chromium were 1,9 pg, 0,07 i_tg g-1 and 0,2 i_tg g-1, respectively; for manganese, in hypercaloric the values found were 1,8 pg, 0,03 and 0,08 i_tg g-1; and finally, in whey protein and protein bars the values were 4,2 pg, 0,12 ilg g-1 and 0,3 ilg g-1. The developed methods were applied to 12 food supplement samples, being 4 of hypercaloric, 3 of whey protein and 5 of protein bars. Four of those samples presented chromium bioaccessible percentage: 49 and 39% in hypercaloric, 12% in whey protein and 16% in protein bars. On the other hand, only one sample of whey protein did not present significant manganese bioaccessible percentage, varying in a range of 6 to 99%.

Probiotics, live microorganisms that benefit health promoting the stability of the gut microbiota, are their most promising substitutes. The objective of this research was to determine the probiotic properties of Pichia pastoris and a recombinant P. pastoris containing the Clostridium perfringens fosfolipase C gene. Ross® P8 female chicks were randomly distributed in four groups of ten each, in three repeats, and fed with a commercial food devoid of antibacterials. Group 1 was fed with un-supplemented food; group 2 was supplemented with 1x106 viable P. pastoris strain KM71H gr-1; group 3 with 1x106 viable recombinant P. pastoris containing the C. perfringens fosfolipase C gene gr-1 and group 4 with 1x106 viable spores of Bacillus cereus var. Toyoi gr-1. Water and food were supplied ad libitum. Weight gain of each animal and food conversion of each group at 49 days of age, were estimated. Individual seroconversions against C. perfringens &#945; toxin at days 1, 10, 20, 30 and 49 were estimated. At the end of the experiment the animals were slaughtered and samples from different organs examined histologically. Mean live weights at 49 days of age were 2.172, 2.228, 2.410 and 2.333 Kg for groups 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively, different at P<0.05. Mean food conversions were 2.58, 2.41, 2.35 and 2.50 for groups 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Seroconversions at 49 days of age were 1.1, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.3 for groups 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively, different at P<0.05. Histological alterations were not detected. It was concluded that P. pastoris and recombinant P. pastoris may be used as probiotics for broilers due to their capacity of increasing food efficiency and seroconversion without undesirable effects. / Os antibióticos utilizados como promotores de crescimento nas últimas décadas foram banidos em vários países devido ao risco de induzir o surgimento de bactérias resistentes. Entre as alternativas para sua substituição, os probióticos, suplementos alimentares compostos de microrganismos vivos que beneficiam a saúde do hospedeiro através do equilíbrio da microbiota intestinal, aparecem como a mais plausível. Este trabalho objetivou determinar as propriedades como probiótico da levedura Pichia pastoris e sua variante recombinante contendo o gene da fosfolipase C de Clostridium perfringens. Frangas de um dia de idade da linhagem Ross® P8 foram distribuídas aleatoriamente em quatro grupos de dez animais cada, em três repetições, e alimentadas com ração comercial isenta de antibacterianos. O grupo 1 (Controle) recebeu ração não suplementada, o grupo 2 recebeu a mesma ração suplementada com 1x106 células viáveis gr-1 de P. pastoris cepa KM71H, o grupo 3 ração suplementada com 1x106 gr-1 de células viáveis de P. pastoris recombinante contendo o gene da toxina &#945; de C. perfringens, e o grupo 4 ração suplementada com 1x106 gr-1 de esporos viáveis de Bacillus cereus var. Toyoi. Ração e água foram oferecidos ad libitum. Estimou-se o ganho de peso de cada animal aos 49 dias de idade, e a conversão alimentar de cada grupo. Determinou-se a soroconversão individual por ELISA, utilizando como antígeno a toxina &#945; padrão de C. perfringens, a partir de amostras de sangue coletadas aos 1, 10, 20, 30 e 49 dias de idade. Ao término do experimento os animais foram abatidos e amostras de órgãos submetidos a análise histopatológica. No dia 49, os pesos vivos médios foram 2,172, 2,228, 2,410 e 2,333 kg, significativamente diferentes (P<0,05) ao grupo controle, para os grupos 1, 2, 3 e 4, respectivamente. As conversões alimentares médias foram 2,58, 2,41, 2,35 e 2,5 para os grupos 1, 2, 3 e 4, respectivamente. As soroconversões ao dia 49 foram 1,1, 1,4, 1,5 e 1,3 para os grupos 1, 2, 3 e 4, respectivamente, significativamente diferentes (P<0,05) ao grupo controle. Nos estudos histopatológicos não foram encontradas alterações. Concluiu-se que P. pastoris e P. pastoris recombinante podem ser utilizadas como probiótico em frangos de corte por aumentar a eficiência alimentar e a soroconversão, sem apresentar contraindicações.

La communication engageante au service de la prévention des conduites dopantes chez des adolescents sportifs / The binding communication paradigm applied to doping behavior prevention among sports teenagers

L’objectif de ce travail de thèse est de tester l'efficacité du paradigme de la communication engageante appliqué à la prévention des conduites dopantes. Les conduites dopantes sont la consommation de substances (principalement des drogues licites ou illicites) afin d’améliorer les performances physiques et psychologiques. Dans le sport, certaines de ces substances sont interdites et les conduites dopantes sont simplement appelées "dopage". Les conduites dopantes, et bien plus encore dans le sport, sont souvent considérées comme problématiques car elles peuvent générer des risques pour la santé et également de la tricherie. Trois recherches-actions sont réalisées. La première, auprès de 52 sportifs de haut niveau volontaires, montre que l'engagement semble produire un effet allant dans le sens d’une meilleure prévention du dopage. La deuxième étude teste un dispositif de communication engageante avec 111 athlètes d’élite volontaires : les résultats montrent une diminution de la consommation des compléments alimentaires, excitants et substances contre la douleur, en condition libre choix et actes publics. La troisième recherche se déroulait dans le contexte réel d’une prévention. Les résultats des 760 élèves montrent une diminution de la consommation de tabac et de cannabis après l'action de communication engageante, et une augmentation de l'affirmation de soi. Une réflexion sur l’application et la faisabilité du paradigme de la communication engageante appliquée au domaine de la prévention est proposée en fin de thèse. / The aim of this work is to test the effectiveness of the binding communication paradigm applied to doping behavior prevention. A doping behavior is the use of a substance (mainly a licit or an illicit drug) with the aim to enhance physical or psychological performance. In sports, some of these substances are prohibited, and doping behaviors are simply named "doping". Doping behaviors, and much more doping in sport, are often regarded as problematic, because they may generate health hazards, and cheating as well. Three studies are conducted. The first one, among 52 top-level volunteers athletes, shows that commitment seems to produce an effect which is in line with a better doping prevention. The second study tests a "committing communication" device with 111 elite volunteers athletes: results show a decrease in consumption of dietary supplements, stimulating products and substances against pain, with conditions of free choice and public acts. The third search occurs in the real context of a prevention. The 760 pupils' results show a decrease of tobacco and cannabis consumption after "committing communication" action, and increasing self-affirmation. A reflexion on the application and feasibility of the binding communication paradigm applied to the field of prevention is proposed at the end of the thesis.

The thesis brings a complex insight into the legal environment of the pharmaceutical and food supplement advertising. It focuses on the legal regulations in the branch with emphasis on decision making processes of the supervising and other relevant state bodies. Special attention is paid to the ability of the above mentioned authorities to enforce the powers given to them by the law and to their cooperation. The main goal of the thesis is to assess whether the contemporary adjudication on the two markets (pharmaceuticals and food supplements market) is transparent and close enough to ensure effective protection of the public and consumers. A very important aspect of the whole problem is also to find out whether the jurisdiction allocation among the authorities and the way the make use of their powers leads towards sufficient assurance of legal certainty and public priorities, that is to say consumer protection and public health.
