L’hyperbate nominale en latin : construction, typologie, raison de texte / Nominal hyperbaton in Latin : its building, typology, text building strategy

Popan, Marin 20 September 2012 (has links)
This dissertation, devoted to hyperbaton in Latin, is divided into three chapters. The aim of chapter I is to examine the concept of hyperbaton used by Roman rhetoricians grammarians. It shows that this term is used in two distinct ways. Firstly, hyperbaton in the narrow sense covers anastrophe and transiectio, i.e. a discontinuous phrase, especially a discontinuous noun phrase. Secondly, Roman grammarians conceive hyperbaton in a broad sense for designating five types of inversion of word order. Furthermore, Julian of Toledo adds a type of “long hyperbaton”, i.e. long inserted parentheses. The first part of chapter II provides an overview of reflections about hyperbaton in philological and linguistic literature. Hyperbaton is traditionally regarded as a stylistic figure; however, Modern studies on this topic focus on pragmatic implication of the use of discontinuous phrases. The second part of chapter II presents the concept of framing and median field (sequence of inserted words), developed by German linguistics. Chapter III provides a typology of words inserted into a discontinuous noun phrase formed by a genitive and its head noun. Attention is paid to the order in which inserted elements are linearised. The research is based on a corpus of discontinuous noun phrases collected mainly in Caesar, Cicero, and Historia Augusta. The median field can be formed by various words or groups of words. Examples of median fields with two, three, and more words and their ordering are presented in synoptic tables.

Contribution à l'étude des dérogations en procédure pénale : pour une approche cohérente et encadrée des procédures pénales dérogatoires / Contribution to the study of criminal derogatory procedures

Thomas-Taillandier, Delphine 03 October 2012 (has links)
From these approaches constitutional, legislative and conventional, it succeeds in better perceive difficulties encountered by police and judicial authorities when it comes to implement these special investigation techniques. While the diversity of these procedures complex their use, it may therefore encourage a misuse of these to foster pursuit of truth at the expense of human rights and fundamental freedoms of everyone. Therefore there is a need reconsider the place and the framing of criminal procedures in the fundamental derogatory texts to achieve the implementation of effective practice and above all respectful of human rights and individual freedoms. In this study, derogatory criminal procedures are therefore subject to a voluntarily restraining thought seeking a balance between freedom and security, eternal question that has raised criminal procedure from its origin and that the legislature may difficult to solve

Abrahamsson, Joel January 2017 (has links)
In Sweden sports journalism has been critisised among many for lacking professionalism and sports journalists have been accused of being both restricted and biased. Especially in local sports journalism the issue is said to be evenmore prominent.Through a qualitative discourse analysis the main purpose of this essay is to study the standard of objectivity in swedish local sports journalism.Thirty two randomly selected articles written in ten local newspapers after ten games in swedish footballs top divison Allsvenskan were read and analyzed during the study. In relation to the profesional ideals of journalism some major themes of shortcomings were discovered and categorized. The most significant was the lack of hearing both sides. The reporting was very one-sided in a way that most of the time favored the local team. From an objective view questionable reporting was also found when it came to the inclusion and exclusion of certain in-game situations but also in what surrounding circumstances the journalists chose to aim their focus on. Uncertaincies were likewise exposed in the amount of personal opinions being shown by the author.

Proces rámcování mediálních obsahů na příkladu tématu domácího násilí / The process of framing media content on the example of domestic violence

Homolková, Dana January 2012 (has links)
The aim of the thesis was to find out how domestic violence was framed in the Czech printed media. The analysis was based on the findings of Robert Entman, who defined framing as selection and emphasising of certain attributes in the media (Entman, 1993). The work brought about a theoretical introduction into the concept of framing which became a part of the media studies in the last twenty years and which currently deals with all phases of media text origination and interpretation. The framing method was applied on a chosen topic of domestic violence, in connection with the new law on protection of abused people, which came into effect on January 1, 2007. Five weeklies (Blesk pro ženy, Instinkt, Květy, Reflex, Respekt) were selected for analysis and the monitored period of one calendar year from January 1, 2007, to January 1, 2008, was set. In the practical part, a qualitative analysis was carried out, determining the frames and research hypotheses for further interpretation of framing of given topic. Subsequent quantitative analysis studied the methods of article framing by individual magazines and eventual differences in the approach to this topic from the viewpoint of prevailing stereotypes associated with domestic violence. Attention was also paid to the question whether the magazines provided...

Tingskog, Hedda January 2017 (has links)
This study’s aim is to make visible journalistic power to form, strengthen and effect readers’ opinions. Within a Swedish journalistic discourse, this study examines how opinions take form in the news report, with what methods journalists legitimises or questions opinions and how social issues are being defined and portrayed as means to target the self-image of journalists as impartial and independent. This study applies theories of mediatisation, the mediated construction of reality, agenda setting, perception of public opinions, influence and the sources and media portrayal. I focus on the case of the refugee migration to Europe in the fall of 2015. The study analyzes daily, local and evening press such as Svenska Dagbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Sydsvenskan, Göteborgs-posten, Expressen and Aftonbladet, during the period of january 1st 2015 to december 31st 2016. The results show the power of journalists to affect the audience’s view on refugees as well as migration and their stand towards it. Further, the study presents journalistic methods to legitimise or question opinions in the news report, as well as the importence of sources when defining and portraying social issues. Furthermore, the study shows the level of the news as well as policial residence of the media to be of greater importance for this than the media form itself.

Legitimacy During Coup Attempts: : A comparative study about the US media framing of coup attempts in Venezuela (2002) and Turkey (2016)

Atik, Attila, Jabbour, Jean January 2019 (has links)
This study aims to describe and compare the differences and similarities for US mainstream media’s representation of two different coup attempts by using Robert Entman’s Framing theory in terms of legitimacy. The chosen cases are the coup attempt in Turkey (2016) which is an US ally, having a right-wing government and the coup attempt in Venezuela (2002) which has a strained relationship with the US and having left-wing government. The research applies qualitative approach to conduct a small-n case study for comparing and analyzing how the media framed the legitimacy of acts and actors during these two coup attempts. This is an attempt to describe the problematization of theory becoming practice for the US mainstream media regarding the presentation of what is legitimate and what is not. The definition of legitimacy is very clear, but the US mainstream media have issues to reflect this definition to the reality.

EVALUATING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RELATIONAL FRAMING COMPLEXITY, EMPATHY AND PERSPECTIVE TAKING

Cohen, Sarah A 01 May 2019 (has links)
Through examining the variables that contribute to the natural process of language and cognition, a promising path is paved for researchers to identify the variables that influence higher order skills, such as perspective taking, empathy and altruism. The current study implemented the PEAK Relational Training System Transformation Module Pre-Assessment Expressive portion (PEAK-T PA) as an objective behavior measure of relational framing complexity. Two additional self-report assessments were used with all subjects, including a multi-dimensional measure of empathy, referred to as the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) and the Valued Living Questionnaire (VLQ). A Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between PEAK-T PA scores and IRI subscale scores. Additional Pearson correlation analysis was used to determine a relationship between PEAK-T scores and VLQ scores. A statistically significant relationship was determined between one of the relational frame subareas of the PEAK-T PA and the perspective taking IRI subscale scores. Results, limitations and future research areas associated with relational framing abilities are discussed.
