Processus d’acquisition des clusters et autres séquences de consonnes en langue seconde : de l’analyse acoustico-perceptive des séquences consonantiques du vietnamien à l’analyse de la perception et production des clusters du français par des apprenants vietnamiens du FLE / The Second Language Acquisition of Clusters and Other Consonant Sequences : From Acoustic-Perceptual Analysis of Vietnamese Consonant Sequences to the Analysis of French Cluster Perception and Production by Vietnamese Learners of French as a Foreign Language

Tran, Thi Thuy Hien 12 December 2011 (has links)
One of the main difficulties faced by Vietnamese learners of French as a foreign language, and one of the most resistant to repair through corrective phonetics, is the pronunciation of French consonant groups, whether within or across syllables or words. What are the real reasons for these difficulties? This study attempts to answer that question. The thesis addresses an issue raised by investigations on the capacity to perceive the others' gestures. In fact, recent works show that the ability to access the articulators' gestural control characteristics is mediated by the perception of the signal which encodes these gestures. In this theoretical framework linking perception and action, and through comparison of consonant sequences and syllable structures in both languages, this study identifies and explains a number of acoustic-perceptual and articulatory factors responsible for the difficulty of the French consonant groups for Vietnamese learners. The results of the study are discussed in light of different theories and models of sound acquisition of foreign languages. These results could be applied to the development of an educational technology tool for teaching French to the Vietnamese (or more broadly for language learning in general), a tool which could propose corrective phonetics strategies (such as gestural recovery training) and performance assessment of learners.

: A Qualitative Study of the Usage of Creative Drama Activities when teaching French as a Foreign Language in Sweden

Mihart, Mirella January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate how a group of Swedish teachers works with creative drama activities when teaching French as a foreign language. Also, the aim is to analyse the teachers’ attitudes towards the use of these activities, as well as the factors influencing their choice of activities in order to develop the pupils’ oral communication skills. After an analysis of the corpus, which includes interviews with four teachers and twelve responses to a survey, the conclusion is that, in general, teachers have a positive attitude towards the use of creative drama activities as an alternative method when teaching French as a foreign language. Moreover, they are aware of all the advantages that this pedagogical tool implies. Nevertheless, they do not always use the concept of creative drama in the sense of "simulacre", or imitation of real life events, which involves both verbal and non-verbal communication, as it has been described in the first paper, namely Le théâtre éducatif dans l’enseignement du FLE (Mihart, 2016).

Apprendre à enseigner par visioconférence : étude d'interactions pédagogiques entre futurs enseignants et apprenants de FLE / Learning to teach through videoconferencing : a study of pedagogical interactions between future teachers and learners of FFL

Drissi, Samira 02 December 2011 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to describe and analyse desktop videoconferencing pedagogical interactions that took place as between, learners of French students in Berkeley (UCB) at one end and French as a foreign language instructor trainees in Lyon (University Lyon 2) at the other end. Our work particularly focuses on communicational strategies mobilized by the trainees to conduct distance teaching/learning language sessions. Our approach draws on theoretical issues in education studies (online education, the concept of pedagogical presence within the community of inquiry framework), second language acquisition, and language sciences (pedagogical interaction analysis) (conceptual framework, Part 1). Instances of educational exchanges were collected through dynamic screenshots and provide material for studying emerging pedagogical and communicational strategies (methodological framework, Part 2). As part of these exchanges, tutors produce utterances and actions that shape the learning activities. We describe these regulations from the concept of pedagogical presence -declined in three aspects: teaching presence, social presence and cognitive presence- that allows us to identify pedagogical practices observed during desktop videoconferencing interactions (analysis of the pedagogical presence, Part 3). This research, conducted with multimodal transcripts of the recorded data allows us to uncover some of the aspects of online synchronous teaching. It also allows us to propose criteria for evaluating the pedagogical practices identified, described and analysed in this thesis to improve some facets of language training in tutoring online.

Al saman, Shehab 14 December 2010 (has links)
The gestural language is entering little by little the didactic area. It is still, very rare, but we can no longer totally ignore it; the new generations of didacticiens are interested by it, projects are on way, some evidence shows that the gestural takes agood place in the pedagogical legitimacy. Our study therefore aims experimentally what is generally treated on the base of intuition or personal observation. It is before all, as teachers of FFL (French as a Foreign Language) in Yemen, that we have personally experienced this intuition and have become interested in this phenomenon. To evaluate the importance of the gesture, you need an experimental methodology, it is as researcher, that we will realise the experiments to elaborate one in this thesis. We consider that the pedagogical gesture is an essential practice to make the FFE class more explicit. Therefore, it is necessary to review the training of teachers. Since our pedagogic experience with Yemeni teachers is what has given us the most questioning around this theme, we have decided to observe our colleagues; Yemeni teachers, in twouniversities (Sana’a and Dhamar). We have gone from two essential assumptions: a) the pedagogical gesture is an act of non-verbal communication. b) its understanding asks for good level of cultural knowledge. We find it necessary to underline the importance of the pedagogical gesture in teaching/learning foreign languages to adult Yemenites.

Com ou sem emoção? Percursos do ensino-aprendizagem lexical em Francês Língua Estrangeira / With or without emotions? Ways of the lexical teaching and learning in French as a foreign language

Barbara Carolina Dias 08 December 2016 (has links)
This dissertation has as its main objective to reflect about the problems and perspectives on the lexical teaching and learning in French as foreign language (FLE). With this in mind, we search to understand how the lexical content was treated during the didactic history of French as a foreign language and how the lexical learning procedures happen (with special attention to those procedures related to the cognitive psychology theories and to the memory constitution) for, then, analyze the FLE didactic materials available to the big public in a way to understand how these different materials are thought. We will give special attention to the Dis-moi dix mots (2014-2015) materials, which shows the importance of an emotional approach in the acquisition of new words in foreign languages. Therefore, we have felt the need to better understand the relations constructed between the student and the foreign language he learns. In this perspective, we have interviewed some foreign language speakers with the intention to identify the possible factors that have contributed to the acquisition of new words. This work was developed on the main hypothesis that even with the rehabilitation of the lexical teaching and learning theories (mainly by the works written by Robert Galisson after the eighties) and with the knowledge that it is common-sense between the foreign language teachers that the acquisition of new words is directly connected with the greater or lesser capacity of oral and written comprehension and production showed by the foreign language students still today the lexical study is given little importance and does not constitute a goal for the guided teaching. The lexical study in French as a foreign language still lacks a balanced teaching and learning methodology capable of promoting the development of a lexical competence by the means of proper semantic knowledge (recognized in the discourses and its sociocultural dimensions) and linguistic knowledge (mainly related to the morphological and phonetical structures). After the proposed analyses, we concluded this dissertation by identifying some important elements for the optimization of lexical teaching and learning in the French as a foreign language context, having in mind the scarcity of time available during classes for developing this learning aspect and its importance for the progressive growth of the lexical competence in French as a foreign language students.

Agir para comunicar e aprender: ressignificando a expressão oral em um curso de conversação em língua francesa para aprendizes iniciantes / To act towards communicating and learning: re-signifying the oral expression in a French conversation course for beginner learners

Marina Isadora da Silva Corrêa 23 April 2018 (has links)
In a globalized and increasingly connected world, individuals are called to act and interact in various communicative contexts. In terms of teaching and learning foreign languages, the oral expression occupies a prominent place as one of the main competences to be developed with beginners. Oral expression training of a foreign language in the university context is becoming more and more relevant due to the expansion of international exchange between universities. In addition to a more reflective and consistent learning, the development of the oral expression at the beginner levels presupposes the understanding of language in the classroom context and its complex functioning. Thus, we observed the need to expand the practice space of oral expression in the university and to rethink effective pedagogical actions that can contribute to the training of beginners and the development of oral expression. When we consider the foreign language classroom as a place for interchange and transformation geared to interactive and reflexive action (BIGOT, 2009; KOCH, 2012), we consider therefore a notion of teaching and learning from the actional perspective (COUNCIL OF EUROPE, 2001; PUREN, 2009; ROSEN, 2009), in which learners must produce and think in order to become future independent social actors (WEBER, 2013). This research was developed within the scope of a French major course of a public university in the context of teaching and learning French as a Foreign Language at beginner levels. Grounded in qualitative methodology and inserted in an actionresearch study (THIOLLENT, 2009), it was created and elaborated a French conversation course where we aimed to investigate the development of oral expression in beginners from the accomplishment of communicative tasks around the theme of a trip to France in order to observe which of these aspects would be related to the development of oral practice in the French language. From a qualitative analysis of the oral interactions between beginners during these tasks, the results indicate that an effective re-signification occurred in relation to representations about the oral expression and the learning process as a whole. This re-signification movement was verified, firstly, by the articulation between the methodological choices made by the teacher and the communicative tasks proposed in accordance with the theme of the course; secondly, by the increased variety of situations in which learners interacted with one another and, lastly, for their self-reflection, in the which it was observed the impact of the course in terms of the development of oral expression in beginner learners.

A música como experiência: potencialidades da canção no ensino-aprendizagem de frânces língua estrangeira / Music as experience: the potentialities of songs in the teaching-learning process of French as a second language

Beatrice Reichen Vasconcelos Costa 20 April 2017 (has links)
This research analyzed the theme of songs in the teaching-learning process of French as a second language and foreign languages in general. Its main objective was to investigate the potentialities of songs which, despite being a specific material widely used in classrooms, is frequently underused. The theoretical framework was established based on the areas of linguistics (Saussure; Bakhtin; Vigotski), music (Wisnik; Attali), neuro-science (Patel) and song (Beaumont-James; Tatit). The study of these authors reinforced the richness not only of the two systems analyzed the verbal language and the music but also and above all, of their enhancement through the song. In an action research, teaching-learning activities regarding the theme (Musical Itineraries) were carried out with French as a second language students and teachers, using Postmethod (Kumaravadivelu) and art as experience (Dewey) postulates to the educational discussion. Based on these two authors, new aspects have been integrated to the analysis of the song: the learning as an experience and the importance of emotion permeating the process from beginning to end. The potentialities of using songs in language classrooms have proven to be considerable provided that careful attention is paid to their multiple aspects and that teachers and students can further explore them.

Interações orais online no ensino do francês língua estrangeira: o projeto Cefradis / Online oral interactions in teaching French as a foreign language: the Cefradis project

This study investigates how oral interaction practices carried out online, via the Cefradis Project, contribute to helping learners of French as a foreign language improve their verbal expression. Grounded in action-research methodology, the CefradisProject (Cours Pilote de Français Avancé à Distance) was developed in 2010 with a group of undergraduate students in their third year of Language and Literature at the University of São Paulo. The framework of the project consisted in alternating individual oral production activities with online interactions and incorporated giving feedback to participants to comment on qualitative aspects of their production of oral text. Scheduled online conversations about current events presented from points of view held by French-speaking people engaged the students in authentic use of spoken French in communicative activities not usually experienced by them in their daily university lives. Teaching practices such as these were made possible through the use of technological resources of computer-mediated communication, audio editing, data recording, and the storing and sharing of text material produced throughout the project. The significant role of technological mediation in the development of the teachinglearning process is therefore explored in this study. However, the feedback of participants reveals the predominant role that human interaction and human mediation play in this process, not only in the strengthening of the learners´ personal resources for verbal expression but also in the awakening of their linguistic awareness of their own ways of speaking in French.

Masculinidades e feminilidades dentro dos manuais do FLE (Francês língua estrangeira): das visões sexistas às relações de gênero / Masculinities and femininities in the manuals of the FLE (French as a Foreign Language): of the sexist looks to gender relations

Sergio Luiz Baptista da Silva 21 October 2008 (has links)
The object of this research was to check how male and female chracteristics are chronologically presented in the FFL (French as a Foreign Language) manuals, through the analysis of sexist views of the difference between genders and their relations. According to Scott (1999), for centuries the sexist point of view was predominant in the analyses of sexual differences. In fact, it was a stactic view of the representation of what was believed to be a man or a woman in the Western civilization. Just after the sexual revolution resulting from the American Liberation Movement of the 1960s did one start to reflect on gender as a result of social and cultural-based concepts between male and female bodies, and to notice that gender identity is built beyond the biological body, thus subjected to time and space variations. For the sake of this research , we selected some manuals which are benchmarks in the history of FFL, more specifically six manuals produced as of 1960, year of the publication of the VIF, which coincides with the start of the Liberation Movement. We proceeded to make a descriptive analysis of the images and texts which fit the research. We hypothesized finding many more sexist views in these manuals than variations of gender identities. We believe that this research is very promising in the Foreign Language Studies domain, specially in FFL, for it may offer FL teachers other elements of analysis and criticism of the textbook and, consequently, of its pedagogic practices.

Entre a sala de aula de um Centro de Estudo de Línguas do Estado de São Paulo e o ambiente virtual no Evernote: potencializando a aprendizagem do francês na era digital / Between the classroom at a Language Study Center of the State of São Paulo and the virtual environment in Evernote: boosting the learning of French in the digital age

Gisele Pretti Gerevini da Costa 12 April 2018 (has links)
The use of digital technologies is a significant feature of todays society, making it easier for people to do everyday tasks and allowing access to information and communication in an interactive, collaborative and instructive way in various social contexts (LÉVY, 1993;1999; KENSKI, 2003; 2007). By taking into account their potential in the development of the teaching and learning of foreign languages (LANCIEN, 2004; MANGENOT; LOUVEAU, 2006; ALBUQUERQUE-COSTA; MAYRINK, 2013; BRAGA, 2013; PIETRARÓIRA, 2013) as well as the urgency to put into practice methodological innovations to cater to the social and cognitive needs of digital natives (PRENSKY, 2010; CASTELLS, 2011), our study was carried out in a Language Study Center (CEL) located in São Paulo with the technologies as mediating tools in the learning of French as a foreign language (VYGOTSKY, 1934) and having as its distinctive feature the virtual learning environment as an extension of in-person classes. The aim of this study is to analyze how digital technologies can help students perform communicative tasks in the foreign language (PUREN, 2009; ROSEN, 2009), which may turn them into active learners (BACICH; MORAN, 2018; VALENTE, 2017) in their learning process in hybrid contexts (BACICH; TANZI-NETO; TREVISANI, 2015) in the age of Information Society (COLL; MONEREO, 2010). We have conducted a qualitative-interpretive research, which was based on action research carried out with teenagers taking the French course at CEL. The suggested tasks were developed and shared in a group project entitled RADIO/MAG 6èmeA: the making of a virtual radio/ magazine, both in the classroom and in the virtual learning environment in Evernote. The results of our study have shown that digital technologies mediated by the teacher and associated with the completion of authentic communicative tasks in the foreign language, both in person and virtually, broaden the learning spaces since they allow interactivity with the information and interactions with peers. These features foster an active attitude of the learner by boosting their learning and promoting their transformation into subjects in todays society (FREIRE, 1996).
