The binary of gender is a socially constructed system dividing two opposite sexes, as a result fashion design has required two main fields, womenswear and menswear, and in between them: unisex. In unisex fashion, the male coded garments are favored due to social constructions about gender and norms as well to their loose fitting silhouettes that are used as a solution for being able to fit male and female coded bodies. This work proposes an alternative of what unisex can be through exploring the non-human form of a chair with the purpose to step away from the human body’s biological differences that often dictates fashion design. The method allows for unisex cuts to be explored through the means of experimental pattern cutting, as the gendered body does not dictate the shape of the garment. As a result this work proposes a reaction to the male coded unisex, including female coded materials, decorative shapes allowed to fit many through elasticity. / De binära könsrollerna är ett socialt konstruerat system som delar upp två motsatta kön, vilket resulterat i att modedesign krävt två huvudområden, damkläder och herrkläder, och betraktat som däremellan: unisex. Inom unisex modet gynnas de manligt kodade plaggen på grund av sociala konstruktioner om kön och normer, samt deras löst sittande silhuetter som används som en lösning för att kunna passa både manligt och kvinnligt kodade kroppar. Detta arbete föreslår ett alternativ till vad unisex kan vara genom att utforska den icke-mänskliga formen av en stol med syftet att ta ett steg bort från människokroppens biologiska skillnader som ofta dikterar modedesign. Resultatet föreslår en reaktion på det manligt kodade unisex modet genom att inkludera kvinnligt kodade material, dekorativa former som passar olika kroppar genom sin elasticitet.

These rights are entrenched in sections 16 and 17 of the Bill of Rights and enjoy a generous interpretation. Text in English / The study investigated the policing of service delivery protests in South Africa with specific reference to Free State province. Failure by local governments to provide basic services to the previously disadvantaged South Africans has led to a number of service delivery protests taking place. The manner in which these protests are managed by the police in South Africa more especially the Public Order Police who are specialists in this field, raises concerns. One would perceive that the police are losing the battle in dealing with protest action for they are criticised for their brutal tactics in quelling the violence. This brutal handling of protesters dates back to the apartheid era and not much has changed contrary to the expectations of a newly formed democratic country. This therefore led to the investigation as to why the police in South Africa fail to contain such protest actions. The South African Police Services (SAPS) as it is known in a democratic South Africa employed tactics from international countries in order to introduce more professionalism in the SAPS. Although better tactics have been introduced, this did not seem to improve the situation because not only are properties destroyed but many lives are also lost through police action. The researcher conducted his investigation in the central part of South Africa in the Free State Province concentrating in the three main areas; namely Bloemfontein, Welkom and Bethlehem where the Public Order Police units are based. The investigation resulted in the researcher arriving at the conclusion that there are a number of challenges that are experienced by the SAPS when dealing with protests and the main problem identified was that of a shortage of manpower. This problem create challenges when it came to managing the number of protests taking place and exacerbated by not allowing the police to use the tactics that they were trained in. As much as we acknowledge these challenges, there are best practices that can be learnt from international countries. The crowd psychology strategies applied by the Swedish police as well as the high tolerance level of the British police, are the good practices that can be recommended in dealing with protests in South Africa. / Police Practice / M.Tech. The aim of this work is to understand the historic process which achieved the construction of the Latin American contemporary music movement in Belo Horizonte, more specifically, the Latin American Composer s Gatherings of Belo Horizonte, held in the years 1986-1988-1992-2002 sponsored by the Fundação de Educação Artística. It was also possible to get knowledge of their artistic cultural programs (works, composers, performers) in which one can found included the production of Brazilian music and music of Minas Gerais, as well as the theoretical questions presented in form of Thematic Panels. As for their importance not only in local, but national and international levels, the Latin American Composer s Gatherings have had a strong social impact in the city of Belo Horizonte in the decades of 1980-90, mainly through the academic scene, contributing to the musical formation of young composers and performers and for the structure of the musical composition area at the Escola de Música da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. As far as the common problems facing Brazil and Latin America on the above decades are concerned, a changing in favor of the Latin American contemporary music passed necessarily by the understanding that the politic and economic aspects were strongly connected with the cultural one. As for their production and musical diffusion, a major participation of all professionals - composers, performers, educators and musicologists - in the sense of interfering in the current teaching musical model practiced in institutions of fundamental, median and college levels. / O objetivo deste trabalho é compreender o processo histórico que levou à construção do movimento de música contemporânea latino-americana em Belo Horizonte, mais especificamente, os Encontros de Compositores Latino-americanos de Belo Horizonte, realizados nos anos 1986-1988-1992-2002, por meio da Fundação de Educação Artística. Buscou-se tomar conhecimento acerca de sua programação artístico-cultural (obras, compositores, intérpretes), na qual se encontram naturalmente incluídas a produção de música brasileira e mineira, bem como as questões teóricas apresentadas em forma de painéis temáticos. Diante da sua importância, não só em nível local, mas nacional e internacional, os Encontros de Compositores Latino-americanos tiveram um forte impacto social na cidade de Belo Horizonte nas décadas de 1980-90, principalmente no meio acadêmico, contribuindo para a formação musical de jovens compositores e intérpretes e para a estruturação da área de composição da Escola de Música da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Considerando os problemas comuns ao Brasil e à América Latina nas referidas décadas, uma mudança no quadro em favor da música contemporânea latino-americana passava necessariamente pela compreensão de que os aspectos político e econômico estavam intimamente relacionados ao cultural. Quanto à sua produção e difusão musical, conclamava-se uma maior participação de todos profissionais compositores, intérpretes, educadores musicais e musicólogos no sentido de interferir no modelo de ensino de música praticado nas instituições de nível fundamental, médio e universitário. / Doutor em História

German text / Vor dem Hintergrund gegenwärtiger Reformprozesse, sowohl in der Evangelischen Landeskirche Württembergs, als auch in der Evangelischen Kirche Deutschlands, reflektiert und kommentiert die vorliegende Arbeit das Reformbemühen der letzten Jahre und stellt es in den Kontext empirischer Forschung. So versucht die Studie explorativ pragmatisch Zugangswege zu den bisher nicht erreichten Menschen zu eruieren, die bei der Entwicklung einer zukünftigen Sozialgestalt von Kirche mitbedacht werden könnten. Mittels eines mehrstufigen Zufallsauswahlverfahrens wurden die Befragungspersonen ermittelt und 628 standardisierte Interviews durchgeführt. Dabei stehen zunächst die religiösen Einstellungen zur christlich-abendländischen Kultur- und Werteorientierung, zur kirchlichen Arbeit als solche und zum christlichen Glauben im Forschungsinteresse, dann die Erfahrungen mit Gottesdienst, Kirche und Leben, Erwartungen, Bedürfnisse und Interessenlagen und schließlich der Stellenwert von Gebet und Bibel als Bausteine christlich-spiritueller Lebenspraxis. Ausgehend vom Gottesdienst, als Zentralort gemeindlichen Lebens, will die Forschung die Chancen gottesdienstkultureller Ausdifferenzierung ergründen und nimmt unter anderem alternative Gottesdienstformen in den Blick. Ehrenamtlicher Mitarbeit in der Kirche, gemeindlicher Kleingruppenarbeit und religiöse Erwachsenenbildungsangebote sind von potenzieller Bedeutung und wollen ebenso als Zugangswege kirchlicher Zukunftsentwicklung bedacht sein, wie der Stellenwert gemeindlicher Seelsorge- und Lebensberatung in Umbruchsituationen, oder die Einrichtung einer landeskirchlichen Gemeindegründungsbewegung in bisher unerreichten soziokulturellen Umgebungen. Die vielfältigen Erkenntnisse und potenziellen Möglichkeiten zukünftiger Kirche sind nicht zu trennen von einer missionstheologischen und ekklesiologischen Positionierung, die in der Herausbildung von kulturrelevanter, multioptionaler Gemeinde, als Gemeinschaft von Brüdern und Schwestern, das Zentralgeschehen nachhaltiger Gemeinde- und Kirchenentwicklung erkennt. Damit ist die Studie als Diskussionsbeitrag in den Entscheidungsprozessen aktueller Reformdebatte platziert. / Against the background of current reform processes in the Evangelische Landeskirche von Würrtemberg (protestant national church of Baden-Württemberg as) well as the Evangelische Kirche von Deutschland (protestant national church of Germany), this paper reflects and comments on the reformation efforts of the past years and places them into the context of empirical research. The aim of this survey is to investigate in an explorative manner various forms of pragmatic access to people hitherto unreached, who could be factored into the church's future social form. The participants were selected using a multilevel random selection process and 628 standardised interviews were subsequently carried out. To begin with, this research focuses on the interviewee's religious stance on christian-occidental culture and values,on the work of the church in general and on christian faith, then on their personal experience with services, church and life, their expectations, needs and interests, and lastly the significance of prayer and the bible as integral parts of a spiritual Christian life. Based on the service as the centre of a congregation's community life, this survey wants to fathom the chances of service differentiation and takes a look at alternative forms of service among other things. Volunteer work in the church, work in small groups as well as religious education programmes for adults are of potential importance and need to be taken into consideration as possible access paths to the future development of the church as well as the value of pastoral care and life coaching in situations of radical change or the start-up of a national movement to establish new congregations in hitherto unreached sociocultural environments. The manifold findings and potential possibilities of our church in the future cannot be separated from our position with regard to missiology and ecclesiology, which identifies the central development of congregation and church as the formation of culturally relevant, multioptional congregations, as the community of brothers and sisters.
