The aim of this work is to analyze the management style of Japanese businessman and philanthropist Shibusawa Eiichi, who laid the foundations of Japanese capitalism. This interpretation is based on extensive research of original sources and other secondary literature. The work includes not only analysis of Shibusawa's management style, but also puts Shibusawa's thoughts into a broader historical context. The work also includes a comparison of Shibusawa's thoughts, influenced by Confucian ethics, with modern Western management theories. Source base for this work is going to be Shibusawa Eiichi's works, in which we can find timelessness and applicability to current conditions of management. Syfte: Syftet med detta arbete är att undersöka vilken påverkansfaktor personalpolicy och personalhandböcker har i ett medelstort företag i Sverige. Det är även av intresse att se hur dessa dokument är utformade och hur de implementeras i verksamheten. Metod: Forskningsansatsen är en kvalitativ metodtriangulering. En fallstudie med semistrukturerade intervjuer samt en dokumentstudie av policydokument och personalhandböcker från organisationen i fråga. Ett abduktivt synsätt har tillämpas i och med att vi har dragit slutsatser från vårt resultat för att applicera på koncernen, men även utgått från teori ur litteraturen för att kunna tillämpa dessa på studieobjektet. Ett hermeneutiskt perspektiv har tillämpats under den genomförda dokumentanalysen, för att se materialet både i delar och som en helhet. Empiri: Datainsamlingen har genomförts med hjälp av fem intervjuer där respondenterna representerade fem separata verksamheter inom koncernen. Respondenterna har olika roller inom organisationen men samtliga innehar en ledarposition med ett personalansvar. Slutsats: Enbart ett välarbetat dokument bidrar inte med effektivitet utan faktorer som ledarskap och organisationskultur behöver även ingå i ekvationen för att policyn ska bidra med värde till organisationen. / Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of the documents on personnel policy and personnel manuals in a medium-sized company in Sweden. It is also of interest to see how these documents are designed and how they are implemented in the organization. Method: The research approach is a qualitative method triangulation. A case study with semistructured interviews and a text study of policy documents and personnel manuals from the organization in question. An abductive approach has been applied as we have drawn conclusions from our results to apply to the group, but also based on literature theory in order to apply these to the study object. A hermeneutic perspective has been applied during the completed text analysis, to see the material both in parts and as a whole. Empirics: The data collection was carried out by means of five interviews, in which respondents represented five separate operations within the concern. Respondents have different roles within the organization, and all of them have a personnel responsibility. Conclusion: Only a well-worked document does not contribute to efficiency. Factors such as leadership and organizational culture also need to be included in the equation for the policy to contribute value to the organization.

The thesis deals with the phenomenon of employees' global mobility in large multinational companies. Primarily, it focuses on the expatriation process from the perspective of the necessary support of expatriates by HR department. In the practical part, there are compared the current practices of four multinational organizations. The goal of the work is to choose the best practice, which the most eliminates the international assignment failure. The thesis further formulates the recommendations designed for companies implementing new policies in the area of employee global mobility. Work is processed by an analysis of secondary sources - literature, textbooks, professional journals, international studies and articles or websites of analyzed companies.

Au cours de la précédente décennie et avant la crise financière de l’automne 2008, les marchés financiers internationaux ont connu un développement considérable et l’émergence d’une véritable industrie de l’investissement institutionnel. Au sein de cette industrie, les analystes financiers sell side employés par les sociétés de courtage apparaissent comme des acteurs majeurs, autour desquels se forment l’évaluation des sociétés cotées et les recommandations d’investissement à destination de leurs clients gestionnaires de fonds amenés à passer leurs ordres de bourse auprès de ces sociétés de courtage. La recherche présentée vise à identifier les modes de gestion des analystes financiers dans le champ de l’industrie de l’investissement institutionnel et l’influence qu’ils exercent sur les représentations, pratiques et productions des analystes. La première partie de cette thèse, après avoir étudié la construction du métier d’analyste et son contexte, met en débat les cadres de références théoriques et les disciplines qui s’impliquent dans l’analyse de la gestion du travail de quelques-uns des principaux acteurs de la finance, en général, et des analystes financiers en particulier. La seconde partie mobilise une approche contextualiste, interdisciplinaire et multi-méthodes au service d’une investigation empirique. Celle-ci met en relief le rôle du droit dans des dimensions coercitives et normatives très prégnantes, encourageant aussi bien la concurrence entre structures que l’homogénéisation et la standardisation de l’organisation du travail. Elle montre comment, sous l’effet de la concurrence des banques d’investissement anglo-saxonnes et de l’introduction d’un nouveau mode de financement de l’analyse financière par les volumes de courtage, les sociétés de « brokerage » ont adopté des stratégies de niche et intégré dans leurs configurations organisationnelles plutôt professionnelles de fortes dimensions mécanistes. Enfin, elle constate une uniformisation des modes de gestion des quatre principales sociétés de courtage françaises filiales de banques d’investissement. Les analystes français sont soumis à des modes de gestion qui privilégient clairement les dimensions marketing du métier qu’il s’agisse des modalités d’organisation du travail, des pratiques de recrutement, de communication interne, d’évaluation et de rémunération. Un des rôles essentiels assigné aux analystes consiste alors à accroitre les volumes de courtage ce qui les conduit à privilégier les activités aval de leur fonction. Mais cette dimension marketing qui caractérise la production des analystes doit être relativisée. En fonction de leur histoire professionnelle et des ressources qu’ils peuvent mobiliser, les analystes développent en effet des stratégies et des identités au travail différenciées. / Over the last decade and before the October 2008 credit crunch, international financial markets have witnessed a considerable development with the emergence of an important industry of institutional investment. Within this industry, financial analysts hired by brokerage firms play a major role while contributing to the assessment of listed companies through investment recommendations to asset managers, thereby obtaining from these clients orders for execution. The objective of this research is to pinpoint the role played by research analysts in the financial industry, and their influence over the representations and practices. The first part of this study, once constructed the analyst’s activity as a category, challenges the referential and theoretical grounds, as well as the fields involved in the work of some financial functions, and draws the attention to research analysts. The second part focuses on a contextual, multidisciplinary and multi-methodological approach to support an empirical investigation, which highlights the role played by law in both its coercive and prescriptive aspects, whether stimulating competition between structures or promoting the homogenization and standardization of work arrangements. We demonstrate how competition from Anglo-Saxon investment banks, as well as the adoption of a new business model resting on commissions generated by trading volumes, has led to the development of niche strategies, and introduced an important mechanistic dimension to the organizational configurations of brokerage firms. Lastly, it sheds light on the standardization of the managerial modes of the four main French brokerage firms, which are all subsidiaries of investment banks. French analysts are subject to management modes which clearly favor the marketing dimensions of the activity, as can be seen through the way their work is organized, the recruitment practices, the internal communication flows, their assessments and salaries. One of the roles assigned to analysts is thus to generate higher brokerage volumes, which as a consequence drives them towards marketing activities. This marketing dimension however needs to must be into perspective. Depending on their professional backgrounds and the resources they access, research analysts develop specific strategies and differentiated identities.

Repatriation-returning home and adjusting : A qualitative study of the repatriation process in three Swedish multinational corporationsFarhana, Saraj, Al-ammar, Nedda January 2019 (has links)
In order to stay competitive in the market, multinational corporations (MNC) need to expand their businesses in the international market. Sending employees to work abroad is a great way of expanding. However, having employees working abroad, brings a lot of advantages for the corporation, but it can also be a disadvantage for the corporation if the final step of international assignments, which is the repatriation process, has not been handled correctly. This thesis investigates how the managers of IKEA, Electrolux and SEB handle the repatriation process and how the repatriates experienced the process, during their pre-return period and post-return period. Our findings show that the repatriates experienced that the repatriation process was poorly conducted by the corporations due to lack of engagement from their side. On the other hand, managers of the companies felt that they handled the repatriation process very well. Therefore, it is essential that corporations prepare the employees well, before they start the international assignments, as well as help them to readjusting back in the home country. Working with practical expectations may lead to a smooth adjustment, which in turn, leads to a well-functioning repatriation process.

Correlação entre o tempo de assistência de enfermagem e indicadores de qualidade assistencial em Unidades de Terapia Intensiva / Correlation between the time of nursing care and care quality indicators in Intensive Care UnitsGarcia, Paulo Carlos 21 September 2016 (has links)
Introdução: A demonstração da associação entre tempo de assistência de enfermagem dispensado aos pacientes e indicadores de qualidade assistencial pode constituir-se em importante ferramenta de gestão, subsidiando o processo de tomada de decisão acerca das questões relacionadas à adequação quantitativa e qualitativa de profissionais de enfermagem frente aos padrões de qualidade e segurança assistenciais almejados pelos serviços de saúde. Objetivo: Verificar a correlação entre tempo médio de assistência de enfermagem dispensado aos pacientes adultos, internados em unidades de terapia intensiva (UTI) do Município de São Paulo, e indicadores de qualidade assistencial: Incidência de Saída Não Planejada de Sonda Oro/Nasogastroenteral (SONGE) para Aporte Nutricional; Incidência de Extubação não Planejada (ENP) de Cânula Endotraqueal; Incidência de Perda de Cateter Venoso Central (CVC). Método: Estudo de abordagem quantitativa, observacional e correlacional, desenvolvido em 11 UTI de pacientes adultos de dois hospitais públicos e um privado, localizadas na cidade de São Paulo. A população compreendeu os registros do quantitativo e qualitativo de profissionais de enfermagem, do número de pacientes portadores de, ao menos, um dos dispositivos terapêuticos (SONGE, COT, CVC) e das ocorrências relativas às perdas dos dispositivos. Os hospitais foram nominados pelas siglas HA, HB e HC. A coleta de dados, nos HA e HB, ocorreu no período de 17 de julho a 17 de novembro de 2015. No HC os dados foram coletados de 12 de agosto a 12 de dezembro do ano de 2015. A análise foi baseada na estatística descritiva e inferencial, com significância de 5%. Resultados: Nos quatro meses do estudo foram assistidos 2.569 pacientes. O tempo médio de assistência de enfermagem dispensado aos pacientes correspondeu a 18,86 horas no HA, 21,00 horas no HB e 19,50 horas no HC. A porcentagem média do tempo ministrado por enfermeiras foi de 37,75% no HA, 35,00% no HB e 41,36% no HC. O indicador Incidência de Saída Não Planejada de SONGE para Aporte Nutricional apresentou média de 2,19/100 pacientes-dia (dp=10,93). A média do indicador Incidência de ENP de Cânula Endotraqueal correspondeu à 0,42/100 pacientes-dia (dp=4,51) e a do indicador Incidência média de Perda CVC foi de 0,22/100 pacientes-dia (dp=2,04). Não houve correlação estatisticamente significante entre o tempo médio de assistência de enfermagem dispensado pela equipe, tempo médio dispensado por categoria profissional e os indicadores de qualidade elencados. Conclusões: Apesar da hipótese do estudo ter sido refutada, esta pesquisa avança no sentido de elucidar outras variáveis que podem interferir na correlação entre eventos adversos referentes aos artefatos terapêuticos estudados e o quadro de profissionais de enfermagem. Os resultados do presente estudo podem apoiar decisões metodológicas para a verticalização do conhecimento técnico/científico em enfermagem e a condução de futuras investigações que procurem demonstrar o impacto dos recursos humanos de enfermagem na qualidade e segurança dos pacientes, profissionais e instituições de saúde. / Introduction: The evidence of association between nursing care time spent with patients and healthcare quality indicators may be an important management tool, supporting the decision-making process on issues related to quantitative and qualitative adequacy of nursing professionals when handling the care quality and safety standards needed by health services. Objective: To investigate the correlation between average times of nursing care spent with adult patients in intensive care units (ICU) in São Paulo and care quality indicators: Non Planned Incidence of Loss of Oro / Nasogastric tube (NGT) for Nutritional Intake; Non Planned Extubating (NPE) incidence of Endotracheal Cannula; Incidence of Loss of Central Venous Catheter (CVC). Method: this is a quantitative observational, correlational study carried out in 11 adult ICU patients in two public and one private hospital, located in the city of São Paulo. The population understood quantity and quality records of nursing professionals, the number of patients with at least one of therapeutic devices (NGT, NPE, CVC) and occurrences relating to device losses. Hospitals were nominated by HA, HB and HC initials. Data collection in HA and HB, occurred in the period from 17 July to 17 November 2015. In HC data were collected from August 12 to December 12, 2015. The analysis was based on descriptive and inferential statistics, with 5% significance. Results: 2,569 patients were assisted in the four months of the study. The average time of nursing care spent with patients accounted for 18, 86 hours at HA, HB and 21 hours at HB and 19, 50 at the HC. The average percentage of time dedicated by the nurses was 37.75% in HA, 35.00% in HB and 41.36% in HC. The indicator Non Planned Loss of NGT for Nutritional Intake averaged 2.19 / 100 patient-days (SD = 10.93). The average indicator incidence of NPE of Endotracheal Cannula corresponded to 0.42 / 100 patient-days (SD = 4.51) and the average indicator Incidence loss of CVC was 0.22 / 100 patient-days (SD = 2, 04). There was no statistically significant correlation between the average time of nursing care spent by the team, average time spent by professional category and the mentioned quality indicators. Conclusions: Though the study hypothesis was disproved, this research moves towards elucidating other variables that may affect the correlation between adverse events related to the analyzed therapeutic artifacts and the nursing professionals. The results of this study may support methodological decisions for the verticalization of the technical / scientific knowledge in nursing and the management of future researches aiming to demonstrate the impact of nursing human resources in the quality and safety of patients, health professionals and institutions.

Este estudo de natureza exploratória-descritiva versa sobre contribuições de fatores de estímulo para a capacidade de inovação sob a perspectiva da gestão estratégica de pessoas. O problema da pesquisa foi: em que medida a gestão estratégica de pessoas pode contribuir para a capacidade de inovação no setor industrial? Foram formulados três objetivos de investigação: identificar indicadores de gestão estratégicas de pessoas, identificar indicadores de capacidade de inovação e analisar as contribuições da gestão estratégica de pessoas para a capacidade de inovação. Foi realizada pesquisa bibliográfica, por meio da qual se obtiveram características e indicadores utilizados na pesquisa empírica conduzida sob o método quantitativo. Foram feitos 1.034 com profissionais responsáveis pela gestão de projetos de pesquisa, desenvolvimento e inovação, sendo que 39 participaram do levantamento. Foi confirmada a hipótese geral do estudo, que gestão estratégica de pessoas está associada com capacidade de inovação. Também foi confirmada uma hipótese específica, que liderança e gestão é a característica de gestão estratégica de pessoas que esteve mais fortemente associada com capacidade de inovação. Foram propostas sugestões de continuidade da pesquisa e novas pesquisas relacionadas ao tema. / This study focuses on stimulus factors\' contributions for innovation management. Its research problem was \"to what extent strategic human resource management can contribute to innovation capacity in the industrial sector?\" The three objectives of this study were: identifying innovation capacity antecedents from the perspective of strategic human resource management; identifying innovation capacity indicators; and analyzing the contributions of strategic human resource management for innovation capacity. In order to identify innovation capacity antecedents, a bibliographical research in strategic human resources literature and in innovation management literature had been carried out. These antecedents consisted of seven organizational characteristics, four of which were chosen for being related to strategic human resource management: philosophy, values and norms; strategic innovative focus; leadership and management; and human resources policies and practices. An unprecedented conceptual model was developed in order to test the relationship between the independent and dependent variables: strategic human resource management and innovation capacity. In addition, three intervening variables were selected from the literature: organizational size, gross operating income and number of years operating in Brazil. An empirical, descriptive and quantitative research was carried out by means of deductive reasoning. The population of the study consisted of professionals responsible for research, development and innovation in industrial organizations operating in Brazil. From 1.034 professionals responsible for research, development and innovation were contacted, 48 of them participated in the survey and 39 provided complete answers. The general hypothesis of the study - that strategic human resource management is associated with innovation capacity - was confirmed. The strategic resource management characteristics that were moderately or highly correlated with innovation capacity were: strategic innovative focus; leadership and management; and human resources policies and practice. Philosophy, values and norms was the only characteristic that presented low correlation. Continuity of this research and new research topics were suggested.

A gestão de talentos está entre as principais preocupações dos gestores de Recursos Humanos (RH), contudo ainda existe muita confusão em relação ao tema. Uma das primeiras questões levantadas é como definir quem é talento. Uma vez definido o conceito de talento existe a discussão sobre como fazer a gestão desses talentos e a efetiva implantação dos programas de gestão de talentos. Este trabalho tem por objetivo contribuir com o entendimento das práticas de gestão de talentos nas organizações estudando o conceito de talento utilizado, as práticas em si e as dificuldades de implantação delas. Foram selecionadas para o estudo as empresas que possuem um sistema formal de gestão de talentos. A pesquisa de campo foi feita por meio de um estudo de caso qualitativo com entrevistas em profundidade em empresas com sistema formal de gestão de talentos. Os principais resultados obtidos de acordo com os dados coletados foram que o conceito de talento está centrado na discussão sobre a abrangência e o prazo do programa. Em abrangência se discute o quão inclusivo ou exclusivo deve ser o programa, em prazo a discussão reside no tempo que a empresa espera ter retorno com o seu programa de talento. Uma visão de curto prazo sugere práticas de gestão de talentos que reforcem a aquisição de talentos já prontos, por outro lado uma visão de longo prazo sugere práticas de gestão de talentos que reforcem o desenvolvimento de talentos internos. Os achados sobre as práticas indicaram que elas se concentram nas práticas de planejamento sucessório, formação de pool de talentos e treinamento e desenvolvimento. Na discussão sobre a implantação dos programas os resultados apontaram a importância dos gestores de linha e a influência do contexto para o sucesso da implantação. / The talent management is one of the main concerns of Human Resources (HR) managers, however there is much confusion in this regard. One of the first issues raised is how to define who is talented. Having defined the concept of talent there is the discussion on how to manage these talents and the effective deployment of talent management programs. This paper aims to contribute to the understanding of talent management practices in organizations by studying the concept of talent used, the practice itself and the implementation difficulties. Companies that have a formal system of talent management were selected for the study. The field research was a qualitative case study with in-depth interviews in companies with formal system of talent management. The main results obtained from the data collected were that the talent concept is centered on the discussion of the scope and duration of the program. In the the scope the discussion is how inclusive or exclusive the program should be, in duration the discussion lies in the time that the company expects the return of his talent management program. A short-term view suggests talent management practices that enhance the acquisition of talented professionals already ready, on the other hand, a long-term view suggests talent management practices that enhance the development of internal talent. The findings on the practices indicated that they focus on succession planning practices, creating a pool of talent and training and development. In discussing the implementation of the programs, the results showed the importance of line managers and the influence of the context for successful implementation.
