En Darwinistisk reduktionism

Wengelin Grantén, Elin January 2018 (has links)
Alex Rosenbergʼs Darwinian reductionism is a more recent form of reductionism that aims at settling the dispute between reductionists and antireductionists in philosophy of biology. The idea is that the principle of natural selection can be viewed as a physico-chemical law that can ground biology in physics and chemistry, and hence make reductionism possible despite issues such as multiple realizability and downward causation. Rosenbergʼs proposal has received a lot of critique, so my aim is to investigate whether this critique is sound, and to enquire into whether Rosenbergʼs understandings of reductionism, antireductionism and physicalism are reasonable, and if Darwinian reductionism can survive the critique presented. My conclusion is that Rosenberg indeed is quite controversial and makes some strong claims, but also that a lot of the critique he receives is misguided and focused on asserting that Rosenberg is mistaken, rather than actually arguing against Rosenbergʼs claims. Despite some problematic assumptions, I do think that Rosenbergʼs proposal contributes to a philosophical pluralism within philosophy of biology.

Fergin, Elias January 2020 (has links)
Coronavirussituationen vt 2020 har medfört begränsningar i inspelningsmöjligheterna. Inspelningen kan komma att kompletteras.

Asociación entre el sobrepeso/obesidad y la autoestima en universitarios de 19 a 24 años de una universidad privada de Lima / Association between overweight/obesity and self-steem in university students aged 19 to 24 years old from a private university in Lima

Arroyo Jara, Alessandra Carolina, Chau Miyakawa, Kiara Lorena Harumi, Paredes Vargas, Jodie Ximena 23 February 2021 (has links)
Background: To determine the association between overweight / obesity and self-esteem in university students aged 19 to 24 from a private university in Lima. Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out in which 177 students from 19 to 24 years old participated, they were selected for convenience. The self-filled Rosenberg Scale questionnaire was applied to measure self-esteem, and weight and height measurements were made to calculate the body mass index (BMI). Results: Of the total number of students, 42,2% were overweight/obese. A direct association was not found between BMI and self-esteem, but there was between age and self-esteem (p <0,005). It was found that students from 19 to 20 years old had the lowest self-esteem and those from 23 to 24 years old had the highest self-esteem. Likewise, it was found that in health science students the level of self-esteem is lower in the overweight/obesity group than in the normal weight group, unlike the careers, where these differences were not found. Finally, it was found that in the 19 to 20-year-old group there are differences in the Rosenberg Scale score between the overweight/obesity and normal weight groups. Conclusion: No significant differences were found regarding the association between overweight obesity and low self-esteem in young university students. However, it was found that self-esteem is lower at 19 to 20 years and as age increases, self-esteem also does. / Trabajo de investigación

Den Queera Eddan : En undersökning av queera läckage i Den poetiska Eddan / The Queer Edda : A study of queer leakages in The Poetic Edda

Randeblad, Joel January 2022 (has links)
This essay analyses the songs from Den poetiska Eddan (The Poetic Edda) with a queer perspective through a queer reading. I use Tiina Rosenberg’s concept of queer leakage along with historical contextualization to figure out how to approach an older text through a modern perspective. Throughout the essay, I discuss how queer leakages appear throughout the text either in representations of gender and norm-breaking behavior, or through an analysis of the use of insults. The analysis establishes that there are queer leakages to be found in The Poetic Edda and that the conclusion avoids being anachronistic through the historical context that the evidence is tried against. The essay concludes that identities our society views as static are rather dynamic and in constant need of assertive actions for their own enforcement.

Ubytovací možnosti soběslavských měšťanů na přelomu 16. a 17. století / The lodging facilities of Soběslav's townsmen at the turn of 16th and 17th century

PETKOV, Petr January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the lodging facilities of Soběslav's townsmen at the turn of 16 th and 17 th century. The register of mentioned facilities in chosen Soběslav's houses had been made at request of Peter Vok of Rosenberg in April 1610. Municipal, guest and townsmen´s houses offered accommodation for 121 people as well as the abilities to build the same number of tables for them and to stable 704 horses, 333 of them inner town and 371 of them in the suburbs. The object of the thesis is analysis of the register. The main aim of analysis is the reconstruction of spatial arrangement of the lodging capacity into the oldest appropriate map. The location of houses of individual lodging provider was found out from the records on domestic markets which were registered in municipal land registers from the beginning of 16 th century until the mid of 17 th century. The amount of the lodging facilities of the lodging providers according to their houses was expressed by cartogram used in five maps. This thesis focuses on the factors which had been influencing the lodging capacity in Soběslav at the turn of 16 th and 17 th century.

"I feel that I was being written..." : Identitetsskapande i William S Burroughs romaner Junky och Queer

Bergström, Lucella January 2012 (has links)
In this essay I examine how identity is created in William S. Burroughs two early novels Junky andQueer. The theoretic starting points are Lacans psychoanlytic concepts ”ideal ego”, ”egoideal” and the ”superego” and also queertheory as presented by Tiina Rosenberg in her book Queerfeministisk agenda. The examination contains an analysis of how Burroughs creates identity in both Junky and Queer with main focus on the second novel. I look at how the desire in the maincharacter Lee is described and what the desire is aimed at. In Junky Lee has a need for drugs and in Queer the desire is aimed at sexual contact with other men. I examine how the desire switches between the novels and how it affects his identity. There is a difference in how Lee sees himself and how the people around him sees him. He sees himself as the masculine homosexual man but the society has antoher view of how homosexual men should act and look like, that is the effiminate man. There is a conflict between Lees ideal ego and the ego-ideal wich has great impact on how his identity is formed. There is a gap between his interpretation of himself and how other sees him wich creates a disintegration in his identity. This essay tries to describe how this disintegration in Lees identity appears and how he handles it. Burroughs is wellknown for his so called ”routines”. These are crazy and imaginative monologues created by the maincharacter Lee. In this essay I present these routines as a way for Lee to take back control of his own identity, he uses them as a way to convince his surroundings that he is the masculine homosexual guy with control not the feminine man that other people sees him as. I also examine how the maincharacter Lee reflects Burroughs as his ideal ego. Ginsbergs have said that Queer is ”Burroughs heart laid bare” and that is a central point throughout my essay.
