The teacher of elementary school is essential in spreading information on oral health for children. In addition to educating you need to motivate health maintenance achieved through work-didactic teaching, since this way it is a language more appropriate to achieve the expected goals. There are two central questions: is the teacher of primary school has sufficient knowledge to identify harmful to oral health habits of their students? These teachers have knowledge to guide them properly to prevent dental? This work has the specific objective: to assess the level of knowledge of teachers of basic education on oral health, needed to develop their educational and preventive in students, motivate them during the daily teaching. There was a field research involving 29 teachers attached to the elementary school children in two units of the public municipal and state of Presidente Prudente-SP. Data collection was conducted through the direct application of a questionnaire containing questions of multiple choice. The organization and quantitative analysis of data were systematized in the form of graphs and analyzed by statistical procedures, while the qualitative analysis was based on literature that support this study. The results showed that both the specific issues regarding the issues on preventive and motivational concepts, the teachers of elementary schools need more clarification and guidance on oral health, confirming their own needs for more information on the subject. It is concluded that the teachers of elementary schools have not received information about oral health during graduation and need more expertise to be able to guide and motivate healthy habits at school everyday. We suggest the development of programs on oral health during the training of teachers of elementary schools, as well as periodic retraining and continues after the formation as demonstrated unknown and lack of teachers on the subject, and good receptivity and interests to acquire this knowledge. Thus, a broader inter-relationship between health and education may help to better train the citizen to acquire knowledge to adequately may apply correctly in their daily habits.

: en kvalitativ studie om vad elever uppfattar vara bra stöd vid skolsvårigheter / "When it works at school..." : A QualitativeStudy on what Students Perceive to be Good Support for School Difficulties

Jakobsson, Charlotte January 2020 (has links)
Recent studies show that the risk of mental illness is higher for people that don’t graduate from upper secondary school. In Sweden, a quarter of the primary school pupils have insufficient grades in one or more subjects which makes them ineligible for upper secondary school. Since schools have documented difficulties in offering good support for students with various disabilities, there is a strong public interest to make visible factors in learning environments that could improve the results. Based on a phenomenographic approach, with empirical data based on thirteen semi-structured interviews, the current study examines what young people perceive as good support, based on their experience of difficulties in primary school, due to various functional disabilities. In the collective description of the phenomenon good support at school, the word acknowledgement emerges, in the sense that the school needs to meet the student as a unique person with abilities, and who wants to develop and learn, but at the same time needs support and adaptations of various kinds. Herein teachers’ expectations of the students are identified as an important influential factor. Five areas are highlighted as important to manifest acknowledgement: security and well-being, involvement, autonomy, belonging, and meaningfulness. When schools are asked to work proactively to promote health supported by the school health team, the result is put in relation to a salutogenic approach.

Skolsocialt arbete på gymnasiet : Skolkuratorernas förutsättningar att arbeta utifrån evidensbaserad praktik / School social work in senior high school : Possibilities for a school counsellor’s evidence-based practice

Lindström, Sandra January 2022 (has links)
School counsellors have been an occupation in Sweden since the 1940s but despite this, there is very little knowledge and research about school counsellors’ preconditions according to their work. This study aims to examine in what frequencies school counsellors’ use evidence-based methods in their work with students in senior high school. The result is based on a survey with N 215 respondents from all over Sweden and the analysis theoretical perspective is founded on evidence-based practice (EBP) and new institutional theory. The result indicates that school counsellors in Sweden do not use evidence-based methods to such an extent and that there are organisational and structural obstacles for school counsellors to base their work from evidence-based practice. There is a decoupling process where ideals of EBP do not match the reality as different kinds of logic appear and come into conflict with each other over whose legitimacy is the one that should dominate the organizational field. To increase the conditions, a school management that provides support and enables professional guidance and competence development is needed. The research field needs to start looking at the school counsellors’ practice from a bottom-up perspective to see what they do that works and develop EBP and the organizational field based on this. This is one way to give school counsellors’ more legitimacy.

Acceptans och hälsomedvetenhet kopplat till digifysisk elevhälsa : en tvärsnittsstudie / Acceptance and health consciousness related to digiphysical school health service : a cross-sectional study

Wilmarsgård, Jenny, Weståker, Therese January 2024 (has links)
Teorin som applicerade svar Unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model (UTAUT). Data analyserades sedan i programmet IBM SPSS Statistics. / Introduction: Mental illness is increasing among children and adolescents, while selfrated health and life satisfaction are decreasing. Health services in schools play an important role in promoting health for children and adolescents. Today's society is increasingly becoming digital. As children and adolescents are digital inhabitants, it is important to investigate whether school health services can be complemented with digital tools. The theory applied was UTAUT. Aim: The purpose was to study acceptance and health consciousness related to digiphysical school health service among adolescents in grades 7–9 in primary school and grades 1–3 in high school. Methods: The study was a quantitative cross-sectional survey. Data was collected using a digital survey in a student health app (n=207) with a total of 24 questions. Data was then analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics program. Results: The study showed that there was a high acceptance of digiphysical school health service among the study population. All the questions had a positive mean value. There was a connection between the degree of health consciousness and that the app was perceived as helpful in increasing awareness of needs and well-being.The tool was considered a good and quick way to contact the student health team. Safety and design increase user willingness. Conclusion: The study showed that the acceptance of digiphysical student health was high and that its use can help to become more aware of health and needs. The combination of digital and physical student health can thus be health promoting for students.

The implementation of the Integrated School Health Policy in primary schools of Region C in the Gauteng Province

Lenkokile, Mosetsanagape Rebecca 10 1900 (has links)
The primary aim of this study is to describe and explain the extent of which school managers and primary healthcare facility managers possess knowledge and awareness of their roles in the implementation of the Integrated School Health Policy in Region C in the Gauteng Provincial Department of Basic Education. The study used a qualitative research method by which semi-structured interviews were conducted using a descriptive and explanative design. A sample of ten respondents was elected using a purposive sampling strategy and conventional or content analysis was utilised in the interpretation and analysis of data. The main findings of the study revealed that managers know their role in the implementation of the policy. Although managers are aware of their important roles; they are unable to fulfil them due to a lack of skills. Therefore, the study recommends that the Department of Health and the Department of Basic Education should ensure that managers are skilled and more knowledgeable in implementing the policy objectives. / Public Administration and Operations Management / M. Investigating experiences of foundation phase educators and the support they receive in teaching HIV and AIDS topics in the classroom : a case study of two public schools in Johannesburg

Ncube, Thato 02 1900 (has links)
The problem this research seeks to address is the support educators receive in teaching HIV and AIDS topics in the classroom. The reason for the choice of topic is to contribute to the revival of HIV and AIDS education in all schools in South Africa. This exploratory study uses the empowerment theory and presents the qualitative research findings based on in-depth interviews with six educators, four school managers and two parents. Thematic content analysis is used to analyse the data. The study found out that the Department of Education had in the past two years provided training workshops for principals of schools, educators and peer educators in the last two years yet the findings from the two schools under study painted a different picture all together. Findings from the interviews show that any support from the Department of Education or any other stakeholder involved in education, such as the Teacher Unions, happened some years ago. Some of the respondents were not very comfortable on this topic as to most of them HIV and AIDS education is not really being taught as it used to years ago. Finally, the research made some recommendations to these two schools on what could be done as a way of reviving HIV and AIDS education to help children and youths to grow up better able to challenge HIV and AIDS. This is in line with the Southern and Eastern Africa Consortium for Monitoring Educational Quality (SACMEC) 2011 report that the education sector has a critical role to play in terms of the delivery of effective HIV and AIDS prevention and awareness programmes. The findings were important as they highlighted the need for the Department of Education to monitor and evaluate the implementation of HIV and AIDS policies in all public schools. They also they gave recommendations on the way forward on HIV and AIDS education in primary schools. / Health Studies / M.A. (Social Behaviour Studies in HIV and AIDS)
