A self-actualising learning programme: an educational neuropsychological perspectiveFerarro, Rosalind 01 January 2002 (has links)
This study has examined the effectiveness of a neuropsychologically based learning
programme aimed at enhancing the seJt:.actualisation of learners. The aim of the
programme is to create awareness of one's unique purpose in life. The need for
motivation, commitment and determination must he realised. llolistic thinking is an
important concept throughout the programme, in that it is aimed at unlocking latent
potential through the encouragement of lateral thinking. The awareness of underlying
potential enhances the realisation of each Ieamer's uniqueness and individual
contributions to society, and facilitates awareness of the need to accept responsibility for
one's own future. 'Ibis failure to fully utilise the potential of the brain has implications
for education. A teacher who is made aware ofthe huge untapped storage ofhuman brain
potential could be trained to disclose a learner's unused abilities, through adjusted
education, thus infonning learners of the intrinsic abilities oftheir brains. / Educational studies / M.Ed.

"--Dass einer mit sich selbst identisch wird" : zur Identitätsproblematik in Max Frischs Werk / The problem of identity in Max Frosch's workKohl, Martha Elisabeth Bärbel 11 1900 (has links)
Text in German / Summary in English / Max Frisch's work centres around the question of authenticity of the individual, of
true self-identity. It is difficult and problematic if ever possible to discover the true
inner self. Stereotypical thinking, prejudice as well as societal demands, rules
and norms are great obstacles in the way for attaining this goal. Frisch's
protagonists fail in one or another way.
The emphasis lies therefore not in the answer but rests on the questions as to
why and how failure occurred and contemplate possible alternatives. The
message is: the task is arduous, never completed. The goal lies in the process
rather than in the end. It is a continuous struggle, appraisal and renewal
resulting in raising awareness and consciousness and thus find more true and
independent solutions.
Frisch's work is an appeal to the public to take charge, to exercise one's choices
wisely and to act with love and responsibility / Classics and Modern European Languages / M. A. (German)

January 2010 (has links)
Com isso, são gerados curiosos efeitos de ironia, visto que o texto convida o leitor a lançar um olhar crítico e sintonizado com o modo peculiar como essas produções leem a própria arte, relativizando as noções pré-concebidas acerca do fazer literário / Abstract: Comtenporary Art presents itself as a stage for experimentations and intensification of strategies of aesthetic elaboration that promote the questioning of artistic manifestation and make it problematic. Among the innumerable resources that engender this challenge, here we emphasize gaucherie, a procedure that is discussed by the critic Roland Barthes and acts as a critical and ironic bias, attributing to the artistic object an intentional aspect of "lowering", or, as the name itself suggests, a character of "deviation" because it is "left-handed", "crooked", and, by extension, apparently "maladjusted", "rough". Accordingly, this thesis specifically discusses how gaucherie works in literature, trying to make evident that this sensation of "deviation" or "lowering" is achieved as a result of a work with language based on the exploration of colloquial speech, the common sense discourse, images that assimilate the counter-sublime categories, such as the grotesque, kitsch, bad taste and the manifestations of laughter (comicality, parody, carnivalization), among other resources. In order to do so, texts written by the Brazilian authors Dalton Trevisan and Hilda Hilst and by the Portuguese authors José Cardoso Pires and Adília Lopes are analyzed. Such literary works reveal it is a process marked by the extreme awareness in the insertion of these aspects, which culminates in a self-referential movement, for the literary work introduces to discussion its own construction mechanisms. Thus, curious effects of irony are created, given that the text invites the reader to cast a critical eye to it, a critical look that is in tune with the peculiar way in which these productions read their own art, making relative the preconceived notions about literary manifestation / Doutor

#Icecrown Citadel #Ulduar : En kvalitativ studie om World of Warcraft utifrån spelarnas perspektiv / #Icecrown Citadel #Ulduar : A qualitative study about World of Warcraft from the player’s perspectiveFontler, Sebastian January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine the player’s experiences and perspective of the massively multiplayer online role playing game World of Warcraft. This study wants to find out the effects on the players psychological and social well-being through interviewing 10 World of Warcraft players between the ages of 18-32. This has been done through a thematic analysis. The reason behind this study is because a lot of scientific studies and the media has portrayed World of Warcraft players in a negative light where they are described as lone wolfs. This study wants to find out how the players themselves talk about the game and how it has affected their lives. The findings of this study have shown that players describe World of Warcraft as a meaningful occupation where it has given them better confidence, self-awareness, language skills, social skills but also build a social network inside the game. The social interactions that the players have with their friends have given them a platform to be open about their lives but also problems that affect them in the real world. The conclusion of this study is that the picture that a lot of the scientific studies and the media are portraying is a dishonest one. They judge players as single group where they do not look at the bigger picture or through the perspective of the World of Warcraft player.

Behind training : differentiation of self of a psychotherapy traineeVan der Merwe, Sasja 06 1900 (has links)
Psychotherapy is an interpersonal encounter where a therapist collaborates with
clients to facilitate a healing process. Due to the personal nature of the therapeutic encounter,
the therapist requires the necessary skills and knowledge, as well as a differentiated sense of
self. The importance of supporting the psychotherapy trainee’s own differentiation process
seemed to have been neglected in research in recent years. In South Africa there has recently
been increasing pressure to select larger groups of trainees which has the risk that the tending
to differentiation would further be neglected. The purpose of this research study is to reemphasise
the importance of differentiation of self of the psychotherapy trainee by examining
my own process of differentiation during my psychotherapy training. This study introduces
the reader to these concepts and explores psychotherapy training in general and the Unisa
training method specifically. The research design of this study is autoethnography which falls
in the realm of social constructionism and the coding method is Thematic Data Analysis. The
research findings as reflected in the two global themes namely individuation; and gaining
and strengthening authentic relationships, seem to accurately reflect the process of
differentiation. The specific training method of the Unisa training team in combination with
the way in which I engaged with this process seemed important for the facilitation of this
process of differentiation. / Psychology / M.A. (Clinical Psychology)

Awareness of Deficits in Patients with Brain InjuriesFischer, Sonja 16 December 2002 (has links)
The purpose of this dissertation was to
examine aspects of self-awareness in patients with
brain injuries: In Study 1 two measures for the assessment
of self-awareness were compared (i.e., questionnaire approach
vs. predicted performance method). Study 2 analyses the
relationship between awareness, goal setting ability (i.e., the
ability to set realistic goals), and outcome in the rehabilitation
setting as well as in an experimental task.
Aufgabe untersucht.

Anosognosia in Very Mild Alzheimer’s Disease but Not in Mild Cognitive ImpairmentKalbe, Elke, Salmon, Eric, Perani, Daniela, Holthoff, Vjera, Sorbi, Sandro, Elsner, A., Weisenbach, Simon, Brand, Matthias, Lenz, O., Kessler, Josef, Luedecke, S., Ortelli, P., Herholz, Karl January 2005 (has links)
Objective: To study awareness of cognitive dysfunction in patients with very mild Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and subjects with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Methods: A complaint interview covering 13 cognitive domains was administered to 82 AD and 79 MCI patients and their caregivers. The patient groups were comparable according to age and education, and Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores were ≥24 in all cases. The discrepancy between the patients’ and caregivers’ estimations of impairments was taken as a measure of anosognosia. Results: Self-reports of cognitive difficulties were comparable for AD and MCI patients. However, while in comparison to caregivers MCI patients reported significantly more cognitive impairment (p < 0.05), AD patients complained significantly less cognitive dysfunctions (p < 0.001). Conclusions: While most MCI patients tend to overestimate cognitive deficits when compared to their caregiver’s assessment, AD patients in early stages of disease underestimate cognitive dysfunctions. Anosognosia can thus be regarded as a characteristic symptom at a stage of very mild AD (MMSE ≥24) but not MCI. Accordingly, medical history even in mildly affected patients should always include information from both patient and caregiver. Umělé světlo v umění / Artificial Light in ArtVíchová, Ilona January 2020 (has links)
In my dissertation I focus on light and spatial situations rooted in a dialogue between an empty space and artificial light. These environments are so charged in terms of perception that their experience affects the processes in the viewer's consciousness. First, there are usually the feelings of increased instability and disorientation. These factors were first explored in depth by the Californian artists James Turrell and Robert Irwin in the mid-1960s, in response to psychological and neurological scientific experiments in the field of sensory deprivation. Turrell's and Irwin's progressive approach found a host of followers. In Europe, it was developed, in particular, by the contemporary artists Olafur Eliasson and Ann Veronica Janssens, in the Czech milieu by Pavel Korbička. Korbička's interest in the potential of space and its definition by artificial light constitutes a key material in my dissertation for the explanation of the links between light and spatial works and the processes regarding the viewer's perception. Inside light and spatial works, the limits of the viewer's body dissolve; at the same time, the natural dependence of human orientation on allocentric representation (i.e. on the relationship between the subject and the surrounding landmarks) is stimulated, to the extent that the...
