Facebook is a social networking site where users get an opportunity to stay in touch with their loved ones. Here you can, in public or private, inform other users about what is happening in your life and take note of what is happening in the lives of others. Facebook also has a downside, because there are risks associated with the usage of the social meeting place in form of bullying and other things. For example, other users can publish unwanted images of you to appear in public. The purpose of this study is to find out how aware parents are of the accompanying risks associated with their child's use of facebook. I have conducted interviews with eight parents, four whose children are allowed to use facebook, and four whose children are not allowed to use facebook. The knowledge of how facebook works varies between the parents, but is generally good. The minimum age for a membership is thirteen, a border some part follows and others do not. It turns out that all interviewed parents are aware of the risks present on facebook and everyone also has ideas about how they best can protect their children online. / <p>Validerat; 20130619 (global_studentproject_submitter)</p>

The Practice of Relationship Marketing and Customer Retention in the Banking Industry in Ghana : The Case of Twelve Banks in Ghana

The banking sector in Ghana has witnessed significant improvement in relationship marketing. The purpose of this study is to bring deeper understanding and insight into the practice of relationship marketing and customer retention by banks in Ghana. For this study, 12 out of the 27 banks in Ghana were selected as the sample size. The research explains the role of relationship marketing in customer retention and also demonstrates how relationship marketing is applied and practiced by the banks in Ghana. A qualitative research approach was chosen and deductive research was conducted based on twelve case studies from both local and international banks. The following research questions guided the study: I. What are the major reasons for the adoption of relationship marketing in customer retention in the banking industry in Ghana? II. How is relationship marketing applied to retain customers in the banking industry in Ghana? III. How is relationship marketing practiced to increase loyalty and improve customer retention in the banking industry in Ghana? The findings of the study showed that indeed, all the banks have reasons for adopting relationship marketing in customer retention. The most popular reason for believing in the success of relationship marketing is customer retention. On practice, even though all the banks are similar in terms of their capacity, human behaviour influence relationship marketing and therefore brought differences in practices. The study found that banks apply relationship marketing in their customer retention efforts and all work towards retaining customers in order to make profit as it is more profitable to retain existing customers than to acquire new customers. Understanding people from different cultures is essential but differences in thinking, which can cause misinterpretations and further on conflicts, are often neglected. To be able to understand peoples' actions as a result of their culture makes their behaviors apprehensible and acceptable. This type of understanding is important in schools and organizations as well as in societies in general. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate how Hofstede’s (2001) three cultural dimensions individualism or collectivism, uncertainty avoidance and power distance appear in Tanzanian organizations. The study was accomplished by doing interviews within each dimension, which was compared with the theory. The results showed that the respondents tended to be more collectivistic than individualistic, to have a low tolerance for uncertainties and to perceive a large power distance in some situations but a small in others. / <p>Validerat; 20101217 (root)</p>

Men’s violence against women is a specific social problem as it affects the personal security and the right to decide over one’s own body. Both of which are human rights. As a consequence of the violence, men and women are living under different conditions, which by the prevailing gender order enables the inequality of society. This is a democracy issue. Women with disabilities whom are exposed to violence in close relationships are thus twice vulnerable, because of the disabilities and because of their gender. Violence can also take other expressions and be directed at the disability. Violence in close relationships is often hidden from society and violence is often made invisible by being explained in other terms. Personal Assistants work close to women with disabilities in their homes and may meet women that are exposed to gender-based violence. This is a qualitative study with the purpose of examine Personal Assistants’ knowledge of gender-based violence against women with disabilities. The results show that they have little knowledge of violence and often no formal training. The results also show that they have no guidelines for how they are supposed to act if such violence occurs. Personal Assistants understanding of violence is mainly based on physical violence. The Personal Assistants’ response if gender-based violence occurs is conditional depending on where the abuse takes place. The results also show a distinction between the private and the public scene. Personal Assistants use the clients’ privacy as an excuse not to act if they face gender-based violence. Despite the uncertainty as to how they should act, as found in the study, this may be due to their low level of competence in the subject as well as non-existing guidelines. The purpose of this study is to gain more understanding for police officers' experiences for the psychosocial work-environment and their experiences of threat and violence in the work-environment. Through a qualitative study has interviews conducted with police officers to gain a deeper understanding. My main question is: How do police officers experiences their psychosocial work-environment? And the other research questions are: How do psychosocial work environment affect police officers privacy? How the dynamics of the group’s role in the psychosocial work environment? What are the factors that affect/prevent psychosocial work environments? The officers' experiences of their psychosocial work-environment were very similar to each other. They feel that their psychosocial work-environment is positive for their fellowship and communication in their work group. These are some of the factors that are characteristic of a good psychosocial work-environment according to Thoerells (2003).The informants were told that their psychosocial work-environment is good when it comes to team work and cohesion and it has a more personal communication as they work in small groups which allows them to get to know each other more. Working as a policeman in Malmö was experienced as very stressful and there was always a fast pace compared with Trelleborg, which is a smaller town.
