Om jag inte fått dansa, vem hade jag varit då? : en studie om dans och självkänsla

Syfte och frågeställningar Syftet med denna studie är att ta reda på om elever som gått igenom gymnasiets estetiska dansprogram upplever att de genom dansen utvecklat/stärkt olika psykosociala förmågor samt fysiska kapaciteter. De frågeställningar studien utgick ifrån är: Uppger eleverna att dans som uttrycksform stärker självkänsla, självförtroende och självmedvetenhet? Uppger eleverna att dans som uttrycksform stärker kroppskontroll/kroppskännedom? Uppger eleverna att dans som uttrycksform utvecklar den sociala förmågan? Är det någon del av dansen (dansundervisningen) som verkar vara speciellt utvecklande vad gäller ovanstående frågeställningar? Metod Metoden som använts är en kvantitativ enkät med till viss del kvalitativa ansatser, där före detta elever på gymnasiets estetiska program med dansinsriktning utgjort undersökningsgruppen. Totalt inkom 45 svar och dessa har analyserats kvantitativt och tolkats utifrån ett abduktivt teoretiskt ramverk bestående av fenomenologi, socialpsykologi med stöd av tidigare forskning. Resultat Resultaten visar att majoriteten av eleverna upplever att dansen har bidragit till (i stor utsträckning eller delvis) att stärka deras självkänsla, självförtroende, självmedvetenhet, kroppskontroll/kroppskännedom samt till att öka deras sociala förmåga. De delar inom dansundervisningen som visat sig vara mest utvecklande för de psykosociala förmågorna är möjligheten att stå på scen, improvisationen samt det egna skapandet. De fysiska kapaciteterna upplevdes mest utvecklas av möjligheten att stå på scen, improvisation samt mötet med olika dansstilar. Slutsats Slutsatsen är att genom mötet med dansen som uttrycksform och dansundervisningen som vilar på skolans värdegrund ökar danselevens psykosociala förutsättningar och fysiska kapaciteter. Detta verkar ske framförallt när eleven får arbeta kreativt och kommunikativt i en trygg miljö. En lärmiljö som utgår från en holistisk syn där kroppen får vara både subjekt och objekt, där en sund kroppsuppfattning råder kan då ge eleven chans att utveckla en god självkänsla. / Aim The aim with this study was to find out whether former students of the upper secondary school dance-program, experience that they through dance have enhanced/strengthened certain psychological and social abilities as well as physical capacities. The questions asked in relation to the aim where: Do the students mention that dance as expression strengthens self-esteem, self-confidence and self-awareness? Do the students mention that dance as expression strengthens body-control/body-awareness? Do the students mention that dance as expression helps enhancing the social ability? Is there any part of dance (the dance-education) that seems to be particularly part of the development according to the questions asked? Method The method being used is a quantitative questionnaire with some qualitative approaches where former students of the upper secondary school aesthetic dance-program have been part of the subject group. A total of 45 answers where collected and they have been analysed quantitatively and interpreted from an abductive theoretical framework consisting of phenomenology, social psychology and by the support of earlier research in dance. Results The results show that a majority of the students experience that dance has contributed to (to great extent or partly) strengthen their self-esteem, self-confidence, self-awareness, body-control/body-awareness and enhancing their social ability. The parts of the dance-education that turned out to be particularly enhancing the psychosocial abilities where; the possibility to be on stage, improvisation and the self-creating work.  The physiological capacities that the students experienced most enhancing where; the possibility to be on stage, improvisation and meeting different dance-styles. Conclusions The conclusion is that through meeting dance as expression and dance-education, based on the values of the schools steering documents, the dance-students psychosocial abilities and physical capacities enhances. This seems mainly being referred to when the student can work creative and with communication in a safe environment. A learning-environment based on a holistic point of view where the body can be both subject and object, where a healthy view of the body reigns, might give the student a chance for developing a good sense of self.

Bakgrund: Sexualitet är viktigt i en människas liv. I samhället finns normer och förväntningar som vi alla förväntas anpassa oss till, dessa kan påverka sexualiteten och den sexuella hälsan. Genom att beskriva hur kvinnor förhåller sig till sin sexualitet, självbild och kropp utifrån ett heteronormativt samhälle kan barnmorskor få en djupare förståelse för kvinnors livsvillkor. Syfte: Att beskriva hur kvinnor förhåller sig till sin sexualitet, självbild och kropp utifrån samhällsnormer. Metod: Metasyntes baserat på 25 artiklar med kvalitativa data inkluderades i resultatet. Analysen gjordes genom metaetnografi. Resultat: Kvinnorna anpassade sig och var flexibla utifrån rådande samhällsnormer genom att de omfördelar makt i relationen, hanterar bristande utbildning och tabun, anpassar sig efter rådande könsroller samt strävar efter att uppfylla ideal. Dessa presenteras som de fyra huvudkategorierna i resultatet. Slutsats: Kvinnor formar sin sexualitet, självbild och kropp utifrån samhällsnormer och rådande maktstrukturer. De anpassar sig och är flexibla vilket påverkar deras självbild och sexuella hälsa. Självbilden och den sexuella hälsan utmärks av en begränsad makt att forma sitt eget liv. Kvinnor behöver medvetandegöras om denna situation för att få handlingskraft att värna om jämställdhet i sina egna liv och för att kunna verka för jämställdhet i samhället. Klinisk tillämpbarhet: Barnmorskor som yrkesgrupp kan stödja kvinnor i alla åldrar att bejaka sin sexualitet och se det fina i sina kroppar. Att inkludera barnmorskan och hens kompetens i skolans sexualundervisning; i samtal om lust, kroppsacceptans och samtycke, skulle kunna bidra till en förbättrad sexuell hälsa för unga kvinnor. Då barnmorskan i sitt arbete dagligen möter kvinnor som på olika sätt försöker förhålla sig till samhällsnormer och förväntningar kan denna metasyntes vara till hjälp i reflektion över barnmorskans värderingar kring jämställdhet och bemötande av kvinnor i olika livssituationer. / Background: Sexuality is important in a person's life. In our society there are norms and expectations that we all are expected to adapt to; these can affect sexuality and sexual health. To describe how women relate to their sexuality, self-image and body from a heteronormative society can give midwives a deeper understanding of women´s living conditions. Aim: To describe how women relate to their sexuality, self-image and body based on norms of society. Method: Meta-synthesis including qualitative data from 25 articles were included in the result. The analysis was done by meta-ethnography. Result: The women adapted and were flexible based on prevailing norms of society by redistributing power in the relationship, coping with lack of education and taboos, adapting to existing gender roles, and striving to fulfill ideals. These are presented as the four main categories in the result. Conclusion: Women shape their sexuality, self-image and body based on social norms and prevailing power structures. They adapt and are flexible, which affect their self-image and sexual health. The self-image and sexual health are characterized by a limited power to shape their own lives. Women need awareness of this situation in order to have the power to protect equality in their own lives and to promote equality in society. Clinical implication: Midwives as a professional group can support women of all ages to embrace their sexuality and see the beauty of their bodies. Inclusion of midwives in school sexual education; In conversation about lust, body acceptance and consent, could help improve sexual health for young women. When the midwife in her daily work meets women, who try to comply with social norms and expectations in different ways, this meta-synthesis can help in reflection on the midwifery's values about gender equality and the treatment of women in different life situations.

Etude et compréhension des mécanismes d’auto dépréciation et d’auto-affirmation des personnes obèses / Study and understanding of mechanisms of self depreciation and of self-affirmation of obese people

Ce travail de thèse vise la compréhension des processus d’auto-dépréciation et d'auto-affirmation chez les personnes obèses. 209 personnes obèses et 920 personnes normo-pondérées ont participé à ce travail composé de six expérimentations. Pour ce faire, nous nous sommes d’abord penchés sur les représentations sociales liées à l'obésité et à la personne obèse, en fonction du contact intergroupe. Ensuite, nous avons construit et validé un outil de mesure du sentiment de rejet lié au poids (sentiment de stigmatisation). Pour finir, nous avons testé les effets de l'auto-affirmation, sur des mesures d'image de soi, chez une population normo-pondérée et obèse. Dans un premier temps, il a été montré que lorsqu’il y a contact entre une personne obèse et non obèse, la représentation sociale est plus empathique, qu’en absence de contact. Dans un deuxième temps, nous avons éprouvé la validité du questionnaire d’auto-stigmatisation (sensibilité, validité de contenu, fiabilité). Celui-ci permet de déterminer la fréquence de situations stigmatisantes vécues par l’individu, associée aux émotions ressenties lors de ces situations. Pour finir, nous mettons en évidence que la technique d'auto-affirmation, via le protocole de Napper, Harris et Epton, (2009), entraine des effets d’auto-centration et de comparaison sociale, susceptibles d’interférer dans le processus de valorisation de l'image de soi des personnes obèses. Ce travail permet de montrer les processus identitaires personnels et sociaux engagés dans le traitement de la question de l’image des individus obèses. Nous proposons un cadre d'analyse des processus identitaires en jeu dans le cas du sentiment de rejet lié au poids. / The aims of this thesis are to understand the processes of self-depreciation and self-affirmation in obese people. 209 obese and 920 normal-weight people took part in this six experiment thesis. We first examined social representations related to obesity and obese people, according to intergroup contact. Then we developed and validated a weight related stigma feeling questionnaire. Finally, we tested coping strategies and self-affirmation effects (ie, protocol Napper, Epton and Harris, 2009), on self-image measures, in normal-weight and obese people.Firstly, results show that when there is contact between an obese and a non-obese person, their social representation is more empathetic than without contact. Secondly, we tested the validity of the weight related stigma feeling questionnaire (sensitivity, content validity, reliability). This questionnaire determines individual stigmatizing experiences frequency associated with emotions experienced in those situations. Finally, we highlight that self-affirmation technique, through Napper, Harris and Epton's protocol (2009), causes self-centering and social comparison effects that could interfere in obese people's self-image enhancement process. Our work helps to emphasize the personal and social identity processes involved in treating obese people’s image question. We propose an analysis framework of identity processes involved in weight related rejection feeling.

Text in Afrikaans / Die doel van hierdie studie was om vas te stel of kunsterapie wei suksesvol aangewend kan word met die anorexia nervosa-lyer. Daar is spesifiek gefokus op die verbetering van die selfkonsep van die adolessent met anorexia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa en kunsterapie is bespreek. Daar is aandag gegee aan die spesifieke kenmerke wat kuns geskik maak vir terapeutiese aanwending in die bebandeling van die anorexia nervosa-lyer. Die praktiese toepassing van kunsterapie is uiteengesit met die Jdem op kunsterapeutiese tegnieke wat fokus op die verbetering van die selfkonsep van die adolessent met anorexia nervosa. Twee adolessente wat met anorexia nervosa gediagnoseer is, is as proefpersone vir die studie gebruik. Die Adolessente-Selfkonsepskaal (ASKS) en die Sacks Sinsvoltooiingsmedium is as voor- en natoetse ingeskakel om die stand van die twee proetpersone se selfkonsep te bepaal. Kunsterapie is vir twaalf sessies met die proefpersone gedoen. Uit die navorsingsresultate is tot die gevolgtrekking gekom dat kunsterapie gelei het tot 'n verbetering rakende aspekte van die seltkonsep van die adolessent met anorexia nervosa. Kunsterapie is positief beleef deur die proefpersone. Gevoelens kon op 'n nie-bedreigende manier geeksploreer word en onopgeloste situasies kon met vrymoedigheid aangespreek word. / The aim of this study was to assess and describe the potential value of art therapy as an intervention strategy for the treatment of adolescents suffering from anorexia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa was described and defined. Diagnostic criteria, the manifestation and contributory causes, as well as the treatment and the prognosis for recovery, were discussed. Art therapy, as well as specific therapeutic techniques suitable for the anorexia nervosa sufferer were explained. The specific objective of the study was to determine the influence of certain art therapy techniques on the self-concept of two adolescents suffering from anorexia nervosa. The results indicated that there were significant changes in the self-concept of the two adolescents. Art therapy can be an effective therapeutic intervention strategy for the adolescent suffering from anorexia nervosa and gives the client the opportunity to come to tenns with the self in a non-threatening way. / Psychology of Education / M. Oorsake van ouerlike begunstiging setel in projektiewe identifikasie deur die ouer(s), persoonlike behoeftes en verwagtinge van die ouer(s), geboorte-orde, en die grootte en sarnestelling van die gesin. In die empiriese ondersoek is die leefwereld van adolessente wat ouerlike begunstiging beleef, verken. Volgens die resultate blyk dit dat van hierdie adolessente angs en minderwaardigheid beleef, 'n lae selfbeeld het en dat hul relasies problernaties is. / This study addresses the effect of parental favoritism on the life world of the adolescent. From the literature study it is evident that the quality of the parent-child relationship as well as. the difference in the parent's attitude and treatment of his children contributes to the fact that a child experiences favoritism in the family. Causes of parental favoritism reside in projective identification by the parent ( s) , parental needs and expectations, the birth order, and size and set up of the family. The empirical study investigates the life world of adolescents who experience parental favoritism. The diploma theses is divided into two parts, four chapters. The first chapter is focused on specific learning difficulties. The second part deals with occurence of specific learning difficulties. The third chapter deals with self image of pupils with learning difficulties. The practical part concentrates on a research. It finds out how pupils of upper primary schools understand their difficulties in learning. It finds out how much they reflect them, if the difficulties affect their self confidence, their integration into the group. The core of the theses is the work with the individual interviews, their analyses, interpretation.

Syfte och forskningsfrågor Syftet med denna studie är att identifiera eventuella effekter som branschutmärkelser kan ha på kundens medvetenhet, attityd, lojalitet respektive kundens självbild gentemot ett varumärke. Frågorna som studien svarar på är:  Vilken effekt har branschutmärkelser på varumärkesmedvetenhet, varumärkes- attityd och varumärkeslojalitet? Vilken effekt har branschutmärkelser på kundens självbild? Metod Denna studie har till stor del en deduktiv ansats med utformade hypoteser. En enkätundersökning genomfördes med frågor som grundades i teorin. Den insamlade datan analyserades genom både ett kvantitativt och kvalitativt perspektiv. I den kvantitativa analysen identifierades ett medelvärde på enkätsvaren som sedan ställdes mot ett tröskelvärde. I den kvalitativa analysen tolkades och förklarades svarens betydelse vidare. Slutsats Enligt denna studie leder inte branschutmärkelser till ökad varumärkesmedvetenhet, positiva varumärkesattityder eller en ökad varumärkeslojalitet. Enskilda komponenter inom undersökningsområdena har visat på ett svagt ökande. Enligt resultatet har dock branschutmärkelser generellt en neutral effekt, det vill säga att samtidigt som inte markanta ökningar har identifierats har inte heller några markanta minskningar noterats. Resultaten som visade på svagast effekt utav branschutmärkelser tillhörde kundens självbild. / Purpose and research questions The purpose of this study is to identify possible effects that industry awards might have on consumer awareness, attitude, loyalty and on consumer’s self-image towards a brand. The following research questions are answered through the study: Which effect do industry awards have on brand awareness, brand attitude and brand loyalty? Which effect do industry awards have on the consumer’s self-image?  Method This study largely takes on a deductive approach by formulating hypotheses. A survey was conducted with questions based on the theory. The collected data was analyzed through a quantitative as well as a qualitative perspective. The quantitative analysis identified a survey mean which was evaluated against a threshold value. In the qualitative analysis, the significance of the answers was further interpreted and explained. Conclusion According to the results of this study, industry awards do not lead to an increase of brand awareness, positive brand attitudes or an increased brand loyalty. A few of the separate components within the scopes of survey has shown a vague increase. However, according to the result industry awards have a neutral effect. This means that at the same time as no significant increases have been identified, neither have any significant decreases. Furthermore, the results showed that the consumer’s self-image had the lowest effect of industry awards.

Syftet med den här studien är att beskriva processen som leder från utbrändhet till en ny vardag; en process som här benämns ”vägen tillbaka”. Studien är kvalitativ i sin karaktär och utgår från intervjuer med sex personer som erfarit utbrändhet. Vidare belyses de faktorer som informanterna upplever har bidragit till att de ”kommit tillbaka”, de hinder som försvårat i ”vägen tillbaka” samt hur identitet och självbild påverkats i processen. Uppsatsen utgår från ett fenomenologiskt perspektiv, bestående av både teori och metod. Inom perspektivet anses människors upplevelser vara centrala. Datamaterialet har analyserats så förutsättningslöst som möjligt utifrån EPP-metoden (en empirisk fenomenologisk psykologisk metod). Resultatet presenteras i två huvuddelar, först utifrån informanternas gemensamma upplevelser av processen och sedan utifrån de skillnader som karaktäriserar resan tillbaka.

The linguistic politeness can be understood as the result of man's need to maintain the balance of their interpersonal relationships. The speakers employ politeness strategies in their verbal interactions, in order to keep them free of potential conflicts. Such strategies can be found in the speech of teachers on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the school environment. It is believed that these teachers make use of politeness not only to maintain the harmony of interpersonal relationships, but mainly to design, maintain and confirm images of themselves and the group to which they belong, in accordance with what is socially coded as politically correct. The objective is to investigate the linguistic politeness in the discourse of these teachers, discussing the reasons underlying their use and their implications for effective school inclusion of people with disabilities, based on the following questions: a) What strategies of politeness can be verified in teachers' discourse on the inclusion of people with disabilities in regular classrooms? b) What reasons lead teachers to employ strategies of politeness in his speech? c) What effect this polite discourse can produce to the process of inclusion of people with disabilities in the school environment? The research was based on concepts provided by pragmatic theories, in regard to politeness, from the model proposed by Brown and Levinson (1987 [1978]), according to the reformulations and improvements made by Kerbrat-Orecchioni (2004, 2006) associated with other reflections provided mainly by studies of Rodriguez (2010), Goffman (2008) and Bravo (2000). These concepts were articulated to the issue of disability, which is presented and discussed based on the contributions of several authors, among them, Pessotti (1984), Pereira (2006), Diniz (2010), Mazzotta (2005), Matos (2007 ) and Souza (2009). The corpus of this research was formed with the data from a focused discussion on the subject of inclusion of people with disabilities in school; the proposal was drawn up on a focus group of elementary school teachers in public schools of Sergipe. Although the Focus Group has been the main source, there was the triangulation of data generated by diagnostic form, individual interviews and participant observation. The data analysis shows that politeness which occurs in the speech of teachers on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the school environment not only serves to disguise the stigma that hangs over the image of people with disabilities, but especially to the projection, preservation and confirmation of teachers' images of themselves and the group they belong to. These images result from projections of ideological values of society over the person, which applies to him in the form of a system of appearances. Thus, words and actions of teachers integrate a representation that person meet in order to enroll in a group and not to be classified as strange or deviant from what is considered appropriate or proper. This appearance game disguises attitudinal barriers and negative procedures for effective inclusion of people with disabilities in school and society. / A polidez linguística pode ser entendida como fruto da necessidade do homem de manter o equilíbrio de suas relações interpessoais. Os falantes empregam estratégias de polidez em suas interações verbais, com o propósito de mantê-las livres de possíveis conflitos. Tais estratégias podem ser verificadas no discurso de professores sobre a inclusão de pessoas com deficiência no ambiente escolar. Acredita-se que esses professores façam uso da polidez não só para manter a harmonia das relações interpessoais, mas, principalmente, para projetar, preservar e confirmar imagens de si e do grupo ao qual pertencem, em conformidade com o que é codificado socialmente como politicamente correto. Objetiva-se investigar a polidez linguística presente no discurso desses professores, discutindo as razões que subjazem ao seu uso e suas implicações para o efetivo processo de inclusão escolar da pessoa com deficiência, a partir dos seguintes questionamentos: a) Quais estratégias de polidez podem ser verificadas no discurso dos professores sobre a inclusão da pessoa com deficiência em salas regulares? b) Que motivos levam os professores a empregarem estratégias de polidez em seu discurso? c) Que efeitos esse discurso polido pode produzir para o processo de inclusão da pessoa com deficiência no ambiente escolar? A pesquisa fundamentou-se nos conceitos fornecidos pelas teorias pragmáticas, no que concerne à polidez, a partir do modelo proposto por Brown e Levinson (1987 [1978]), segundo as reformulações e os aperfeiçoamentos feitos por Kerbrat- Orecchioni (2004; 2006), associados a outras reflexões fornecidas, sobretudo, pelos estudos de Rodriguez (2010), Goffman (2008) e Bravo (2000). Articularam-se tais conceitos à questão da deficiência, que é apresentada e discutida a partir das contribuições de diversos autores, entre os quais Pessotti (1984), Pereira (2006), Diniz (2010), Mazzotta (2005), Matos (2007) e Souza (2009). Constituiu-se o corpus desta pesquisa a partir dos dados gerados de uma discussão focalizada sobre o tema inclusão da pessoa com deficiência na escola, desencadeada em um Grupo Focal de professores do Ensino Fundamental da rede estadual de ensino de Sergipe. Embora o Grupo Focal tenha sido a principal fonte, houve ainda a triangulação dos dados gerados com questionário diagnóstico, entrevistas individuais e observação participante. A análise dos dados realizada demonstra que a polidez que se verifica no discurso dos professores sobre a inclusão da pessoa com deficiência no ambiente escolar serve à dissimulação do estigma que pesa sobre a imagem da pessoa com deficiência e à projeção, preservação e confirmação de imagens de si, dos professores e do grupo a que pertencem. Tais imagens decorrem de projeções dos valores da ideologia da sociedade sobre o indivíduo, que se impõe a este sob a forma de um sistema de aparências. Assim, atos e palavras dos professores integram uma representação que os indivíduos cumprem, a fim de se inscreverem num grupo e de não se deixarem classificar como estranhos ou desviantes do que é considerado apropriado ou adequado. Esse jogo de aparências mascara barreiras atitudinais e procedimentos negativos à inclusão efetiva da pessoa com deficiência na escola e na sociedade.
