In my dissertation I survey the historic progress of the reality TV and the reality show, focussing on the specific genre of the talent shows, which stands for the current phenomenon of the entertainment industry in TV broadcasting. Using the method of the oral history I'll explain in detail the principals of running these shows on chosen formats and point out how different or same strategies can appear in shows all over the world. Further I'll focus on the structure and the level of a production, main features of the audience personality and behaviour, for example forming the relationship between the viewer and the participants on the basing on personal stories or praising and idealising the competitors. The next step of my analysis will be a depiction of the economic thesis and rules, which run the talent shows, which give them a direction and drive them on the TV market. I'll give an insight into the terms as the affective economics, building lovemarks or an inspiring fan, which are characteristic for the era of the convergence of media, which are considerably covered by talent shows. In the end my work depicts also the role of the jury and their specific trail, which are necessary for the viewer ratings and potential success of the certain show. This thesis deals with talent show Got Talent and through this television format compares four culturally different adaptations. This comparision is based on analysis of these four shows: Česko Slovensko má talent, America's Got Talent, Britain's Got Talent and China's Got Talent. Content of the shows is different in many respects thanks to distincts in television histories and diverse culture in each territory. The theoretical part focus on culture and development in television broadcasting in selected countries. Another chapter describes the market with licenses for television formats and differencies in local adaptations of shows and series. Content analysis itself was based on comparison of selected series of the show Got Talent and particular episode. It was found that worldwide television formats differ in many respects. Rules of the show, roles of the judges, dramaturgical structure of episode and casting of contestants are adapt to local culture and lifestyle. There are some common features in shows on the other hand: emphasis on personal life stories of the contestants and effort to create integrated story for whole episode through specific structure of the episode. We can say that television shows has influence on culture and culture affects content of the programme.

The theoretical section of the thesis Comparison of the misanthropic Show Jana Krause and the philanthropic Mark Eben's show Na plovárně aims to characterize the talk show genre both abroad and in the Czech Republic. It briefly outlines the development of the genre and its arrival in the Czech television stations. It also gives a definition of a presenter, describes the ways of communication, construction of the interviews with the guests, their selection, introduces Jan Kraus and Marek Eben and characterises both talk shows - Na Plovárně and Show Jana Krause. The practical section deals with an analysis of production in which interviews with representatives of both production teams are analysed. A qualitative analysis aims to answer the question: "How do the philanthropic and misanthropic concepts of the talk show differ, from the perspective of content and production intentions?" The conclusion contains a summary of the collected data.

There is only little attention payed to cooking shows in academic world. Mostly only mass media and public give their opinion on this topic. Due to many shows that exist and their spread, it is sufficient to concentrate on them also in academic writings. This diploma thesis tries to define cooking shows as genre. In analytic part it concentrates on one important aspect of cooking shows - their chefs. At first this thesis gives theoretic ground to cooking shows. It describes theories which are dealing with food. Then it takes a look on theories describing processes in contemporary culture. It is followed by chapter about reality TV and reality shows. History part about cooking shows contents also description of most important cooking shows and their chefs, both foregin and Czech production. At the end of theory part the position of cooking shows as TV genre is stated. In this thesis, new and unique term was created - TV chefs' values. It describes set of factors, which are important for TV chefs' to have to suceed. These factors are natural acting, sense of humor, loving food and vocational education in the field. The reseaarch was based on watching three cooking shows and interviews with people responsible for choosing chefs to these cooking shows.

Previous issue date: 2012-03-29 / Work has a key role in identity construction and subjectivity expression. The relationship between subjects and this sphere of mediation has become increasingly more complex in the contemporary world. In the Aprendiz Universitário reality television show, theme of this study, the corporate world is portrayed in its practices, rituals, values and leadership models, with a strong presence of many different ways of consumption that shapes its script. The show, chaired by a TV host and two counselors, has 16 University students competing in tasks related to the corporate world, so that one will be the winner. Starting from theoretical reflections that place work in the intersection between Communication and Consumption, a discussion is made about the communicational dimension of consumption and work, including visible and invisible aspects of the latter and the role of both consumption and work for encoding and ranking the subject is also discussed. In a mediatized society, work activities are transformed into a cultural product, in the form of a spectacle, and offered to media consumption, thus having a pedagogical effect. The theoretical foundation of this study comprises the French School of Discourse Analysis, the audio-visual grammar analysis and Propp s Theory of the Wonder Tale. These theoretical references are used to make a comparative analysis of the 2009-2010 seasons, hosted by Roberto Justus and João Dória Jr, respectively. It has been identified a hybridization of discourses from several fields that builds up the competitive ethos of the show. The contemporary subject-worker is pushed to achieve success, submitting themselves to reprehensible practices and conflicts which, however, are naturalized by a corporate culture driven by neoliberal logic. / O trabalho ocupa lugar de destaque na constituição identitária e na manifestação da subjetividade; no contexto contemporâneo, as relações dos sujeitos com essa esfera de mediação ganham em complexidade. No reality show Aprendiz Universitário, tema deste estudo, o mundo corporativo é retratado em suas práticas, rituais, valores e modelos de liderança, com forte presença do consumo, em diversas formas, que estrutura o seu roteiro. No programa, comandado por um apresentador e dois conselheiros, 16 universitários competem em tarefas ligadas ao mundo corporativo, para se estabelecer um vencedor. Partindo de reflexões teóricas que situam o trabalho na intersecção do campo da Comunicação Consumo, discutimos a dimensão comunicacional do consumo e do trabalho, aspectos visíveis e invisíveis deste último, além do papel de ambos como forma de codificar e classificar o sujeito. Numa sociedade midiatizada, atividades laborais são transformadas em produto cultural, na forma de espetáculo e oferecidas ao consumo midiático, adquirindo por isso um efeito pedagógico. Tendo como suporte teórico a Análise do discurso de linha francesa, a análise da gramática audiovisual e a Teoria do conto maravilhoso de Propp, analisamos comparativamente as temporadas de 2009 e 2010, apresentadas por Roberto Justus e João Dória Jr, respectivamente. Identificamos uma hibridação de discursos de diversos campos, que compõem o ethos competitivo do programa. O sujeito trabalhador contemporâneo se vê pressionado a alcançar o sucesso, sujeitando-se a práticas e conflitos reprováveis, mas que são naturalizados pela cultura corporativa, marcada pela lógica neoliberal.

Uppsatsen nedan är baserad på en kvantitativ och en kvalitativ undersökning med syfte att kartläggaolika sporters, med fokus på hästsport, representation och framställning under en fyraveckorsperiod2012 i två av Sveriges största dagstidningar. Vi ansåg det viktigt att genomföra den här undersökningenför att se om fördomarna kring bristen på representation av hästsport i media har någongrund, samt om mediestormen kring Rolf-Göran Bengtssons Jerringpris gav någon efterverkan förhästsportens representation.Först genomfördes den kvantitativa studien där över 1 100 artiklar analyserades. Den kvalitativastudien följde där fyra reportage valdes ut för vidare analys. Reportagen behandlade de tre mestomskrivna sporterna samt hästsport. Reportagen analyserades och jämfördes i hopp om att finnamönster med likheter eller skillnader. De viktigaste fynden inkluderar bland annat att det skrevsflest hästsportsartiklar veckan då Göteborg Horse Show pågick, men under den sista undersökningsveckanskrevs inga alls. / The following essay is based on a quantitative as well as a qualitative study with the aim ofmapping out the representation and depiction of different sports, with focus on equestriansports, in two of Sweden’s largest daily newspapers during a time period of four weeksin 2012. We considered it important to see if there was any ground for the prejudicesabout the lack of representation of equestrian sports in the media, and we also wanted tosee if the media storm following Rolf-Göran Bengtsson’s win of Jerringpriset in any wayaffected the sport’s representation.First, the quantitative study was executed with over 1 100 articles analyzed. The qualitativestudy followed where four reports were selected for further investigation. These coveredthe three sports most written about as well as the equestrian sports. They were analyzedand compared in order to locate patterns of resemblance or difference. One of the mostimportant finds was that the majority of the articles in the quantitative study about equestriansports were written during the week of Gothenburg Horse Show while there were noarticles written about said sport during the final week of the study.

[pt] O não comparecimento (no-show) dos pacientes a consultas agendadas tem um impacto significativo nos sistemas de saúde. Apesar do crescimento da pesquisa científica sobre os fatores que influenciam o no-show, não há uma síntese atual do estado da arte neste tema, e até à data, nenhuma revisão sistemática que englobe todas as especialidades. Assim, na tentativa de preencher esta lacuna, esta dissertação tem como intuito realizar uma revisão sistemática com três objetivos: (i) análise das características dos estudos segundo a metodologia empregada, continente, especialidade clínica, variáveis dependentes e taxas de no-show; (ii) síntese dos resultados sobre quais os fatores que afetam significativamente as taxas de não comparecimento; (iii) comparação desta análise com pesquisas anteriores. Utilizando a base de dados Scopus, 724 artigos foram encontrados, e destes, 105 selecionados para análise. A literatura indica que o no-show de pacientes não acontece aleatoriamente, e compreender as características que estão relacionadas à perda de compromissos agendados é importante para o desenvolvimento de melhorias no que tange ao comparecimento, além de possibilitar o uso dessas informações nas práticas de programação de agendamento. Concluiu-se que a taxa média de no-show foi de 23 por cento e que é mais comum entre os pacientes: jovens; de baixo nível sócioeconômico; que residem a uma distância elevada da clínica; que tem plano de saúde público ou nenhum plano; e que são atendidos por médicos menos experientes. Têm-se como os fatores mais significativos, a data de agendamento distante da data da consulta e o aumento de histórico prévio de consultas perdidas. / [en] The failure to attend to scheduled appointments (no-show) has a significant impact on healthcare systems. Despite the growing of scientific research on the factors that influence no-show, there is not a current summary of the state of art in this area, and systematic review covering all medical fields. In order to fill this gap, this dissertation has the intention to conduct a systematic literature review with three goals: (i) to summarize the characteristics of the studies according to methodology, country, clinical specialty, dependents variables, and no-show rates; (ii) to gather and integrate the results of the factors that significantly affect the non-attendance rates; (iii) to compare this analysis with previous researches. The literature indicates that the no-show does not happens randomly, and to understand the characteristics related to missed appointments is important to improve attendance, allowing the use of this information in scheduling practices. Using the Scopus database, 724 articles were reviewed and 105 selected for analysis. The average no-show rate was 23 percent, and it is most common in patients: younger, low socioeconomic level, greater distance from home to the clinic, with public health insurance or no insurance, and attended by less experienced provider. The most significant factors are high lead time and high rates of previously missed appointment.
