Sociabilités familiales, intellectuelles, artistiques et politiques autour d'une dessinatrice, illustratrice, graveuse et sculpteur : Chana Orloff (1888-1968), entre Paris, l'Amérique et Israël (1916-1968) / Family, intellectual, artistic and political sociabilities around a draftswoman, engraver and sculptor : Chana Orloff (1888-1968), between Paris, America and Israel (1916-1968)

Grobot, Anne 02 February 2018 (has links)
Since Germaine Coutard-Salmon's thesis, presented in 1980 and devoted to the monographic study of Chana Orloff (1888-1968), there were not many other works published about this artist. The aim of this thesis is to put an emphasis on the sculpted and graphic works of art (drawings, engravings and illustrations) of the artist, since 1910 until her death, and achieved in both Paris and Israel. This study will deal with the subjects, the technics, the supports, but also the aesthetic orientations of her work which made her a part of history and art history. Started in Paris under the auspices of a cubist's heritage and Art deco's temptation, her work – characterized by many portraits, Maternities and animalist subjects -, developed an aesthetic based on the simplification of shapes, their balancing and their being stretched and on frontal compositions mixed with a decorative ambition, which has often been compared to Modigliani, Archipenko or Nadelman's work. Then, from the end of the Second World War and the time of the creation of Israel's State, her art became more tormented and more expressive. This was also the moment when the Jewish State commissioned her to produce a great number of works of art. From a methodological point of view, this thesis will be based in particular, but not exclusively, on the scientific exploitation of the funds preserved until now, made up of the works and documents of the artist's workshop and will question the critical reception of Chana Orloff's work from the 1920's until now, as well as the conditions of its international diffusion (gallerists, art dealers, collectors.....) from a cultural, social and political point of view of art.

Trajetórias educacionais dos jovens residentes num distrito com elevada vulnerabilidade juvenil / Educational trajectories of young residents of a district with high youth vulnerability

Bittar, Mariana 09 November 2011 (has links)
This thesis aims to explore the mechanisms and dynamics that may affect, cause changes or strengthen the initial direction of the educacional trajectories of youngsters. In order to characterize the type of trajectory, we looked at the following factors: age-grade distortion, grade retention, expulsion and drop-out. We explored how the spheres of sociability of the youngsters - family, school, neighbourhood, work, social programs, church and leisure - are associated and affect their school trajectories. In addition, we investigated the extent to which events that occur throughout their life can affect their behaviour, their relationship with ties established in different spheres of sociability and, consequently, their educational trajectories. The analysis made in this study are qualitative. The following instruments were used: in-depth interviews, free conversations, participant observation and passive interaction observation. Although we limited ourselves to one school, we found heterogeneity among respondents in terms of individual attributes and socioeconomic and cultural dimensions, factors that influence school trajectories. However, we identified young people with similar socioeconomic characteristics and conditions but distinct paths. In these cases, the differences found can be explained by the relationship established with ties in spheres of sociability and the ways in which crisis situations were dealt with

The Efficacy of a Literature-Based Social Communication Intervention on Teacher Report of Sociability for Children with Language Impairment

Harlow, Mnisa Lyn 01 June 2016 (has links)
Recent research indicates that children with language impairment (LI) often experience difficulties with social communication. Although the empirical basis for general social communication intervention is growing, information documenting the efficacy of these interventions for children with LI remains limited. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a social communication intervention on teacher perceptions of sociability in five elementary-aged children with LI. The intervention focused on the presentation and use of children's stories to target aspects of emotion understanding. The two sociability subscales of the Teacher Behavior Rating Scale (TBRS), impulse control/likeability and prosocial behavior, were used as variables with which to measure teacher perception. Pre and post intervention measures of teacher ratings were taken and compared for each participant. Results indicated that four of the five participants received higher ratings for prosocial behaviors following treatment, with two participants scoring within typical range for their age. Two participants remained stable in their pre and posttreatment scores for impulse control/likeability, one participant increased in their ratings, and two of the participants had a decline in posttreatment scores for impulse control/likeability. This study revealed noteworthy improvements in prosocial behaviors in children with LI, even while problems with impulse control remained or increased. This was to be expected considering the intervention focused on emotion understanding which leads to prosocial behavior, whereas the intervention did not focus explicitly on impulse control. Implications of these results were discussed and suggestions for further research were offered.

“My Friends Are My Safety Net” : Friendship Amongst Young Adults in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina

Karcsics, Ann-Marie January 2013 (has links)
In the unique post-war and post-socialist arena several recent studies onformer Yugoslavian countries indicate that young people confronted by challengesof risk and uncertainty are turning away from the national and politicalsphere. Instead, they often seek trust and opportunities in their networks and relationshipson a personal level. This thesis explores the narratives and everydaypractices of young adults in Sarajevo regarding their friendship sociabilities. The aim is to provide an insight on how friendships are characterised, experiencedand related to the specific social and economic organisations that influencesthem. Based on fieldwork carried out in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina myproject wants to present how young adults are reflecting and developing aspirationsin the light of their available choices and opportunities in life and how theyare using their friends in order to access various types of benefits and support. It is argued that in specific contexts friendships constitute the main social capitals and orientation points for young people. In order to explore and navigate through the different interests and agendas present in their community when it comes to personal education, career development and housing young peoplenecessarily choose to favour the reliance on their informal solidarities in form offriendships.

Female Identity Problem in Lithuanian Women’s Creative Writing in the Late 19th – Early 20th Century / Moters tapatybės problema XIX a. pabaigos-XX a. pradžios moterų kūryboje

Bleizgienė, Ramunė 17 September 2009 (has links)
Ramunė Bleizgienė‘s dissertaiton Female Identity Problem in Lithuanian Women’s Creative Writing in the Late 19th – Early 20th Century analyses identity as a result of an interaction between a person and his/her socio-cultural context, by raising a question how the development of modern Lithuanian society influenced the forms of female identity. A heterogeneous methodological perspective introduces a shift in female identity as an inseparable part of the process of women becoming public individuals. The exploration of creative texts by Žemaitė, Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė, Šatrijos Ragana, Ona Pleirytės-Puidienė Vaidilutė and Sofija Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė reveals how the writing women bring up and establish themselves as a speaking public subject. A thorough analysis of women’s writing, their diaries, letters, and memoirs reveals the ways in which the writing women experience their sociability, and emphasizes the impact that socio-cultural definitions of an individual/woman made on women’s self-perception. Structural changes in female identity undergo analysis in a condensed socio-cultural context with a review and a presentation of many texts by female authors that were circulating in public space, which gives a view of the multiple nature and complexity of the process. The study presents a lot of journalistic and fiction texts that were written in the late 19th – early 20th century, but were not in the scope of analysis up to the present moment. Disertacijoje pristatoma nemažai XIX a. pabaigos–XX a. pradžios moterų publicistikos ir grožinės kūrybos tekstų, kurie iki šiol nebuvo patekę į tyrinėjimų akiratį.

Ezdani Khan, Sabil January 2013 (has links)
Studien undersöker spelares sociala upplevelse inom online dataspelet World of Warcraft (Blizard entertainment 2004).

Viver nas margens: gênero, crime e regulação de conflitos / Living in themargins: gender, crime and regulating conflicts

Carla dos Santos Mattos 12 February 2014 (has links)
The main objective of this thesis is opening a dialogue between gender, popular culture, and crime. The rationale guiding this work are techniques of conflict and managing violence used as forms of interaction having sexual images (STRATHERN, 2006) analyzed in displays of force (MACHADO DA SILVA, 2008) among residents and drug traffickers in the Nova Holanda favela, in the Maré community- Rio de Janeiro. The research results on the universe of Funk gangs prowess and the pacification of the Red Command drug group are analyzed using ethnographical accounts and trajectories that I was able to collect because of my experience as a native resident of this favela. I will argue that this process achieves a discursive expansion of crime (FELTRAN, 2006) producing physical and moral disturbances (DUARTE, 1987) - expressed by the emic category neurosis. The prohibited Funk performances reveal distinct techniques among each other - affirmative, offensive, and defensive - part of a widened spectrum of representations articulated by a patriarchal grammar of war and peace responsible for the opposition between masculine and feminine worlds. From this normativizing context the male subject, mistress, and the faithful wife are performed as popular personae of valor that update the historical mediation between the hustler and the bandit (MISSE, 1999). In these situations as they are experienced, the gender idiom permits exploring the production of borderlines between the use of force and the regulation of living together, indicating variable nexuses as to how conflicts are processed, whether by nullifying them, mediation, and/or explication.

In the last decades of last century, a series of technological innovations, above all in the computer science area (communication protocols, expansion of the telecommunications, the creation and structuring of the net, among other), they started to do part of our daily life more and more. That implantation came accompanied by a speech that shows those innovations as characteristic of a new world and full of possibilities, a world in that the known relationship forms, above all those regarding the sociability, would disappear and they would give place to new forms. Our work if it focused in analyzing in that measured the new technologies, above all the one of the cyberspace, they are being part of the people's life and, in that measured, that substitution process is really happening. For that, besides several studies and debates on the theme, we threw hand close to the users of games in net of a questionnaire seeking the obtaining of data on the form as the interviewee makes use of those services and to what extent we can be noticed and which types of alterations / substitutions operate in the virtual sociability recently. We still studied in that research, some forms of sociability online, the games multiplayer in net, as well as the interaction forms that this provides in the cyberspace and out of him.

The tendency to separate dwelling zones for distinct social levels of the population is quite common in the cities. The urban segregation is a discriminatory process that can be focused from different points of view. The study is about a case of self-segregation - voluntary isolation of individuals or human groups - in Marília, São Paulo. The phenomenum of the horizontal condominiums is examined starting from accounts given by real estate agents, by people who live in a condominium and people who like the idea. The methodology used in this paper is the research method known as symbolic interactionism in its phenomenological version. This study is conducted following the analysis and the description of the reasoning used by those who were interviewed and tries to find a descriptive explanation for one particular case. The main aspects considered are the importance of dwelling as a status symbol; the processes which create the sensation of security in horizontal condominiums; and the idea of autonomy in the undertakings which have as an objective the creation of micro-communities as an imitation of an ideal life in the past. As they present internal collective spaces as if they were similar to a public space which existed once, one changes public to collective in order to understand collective as a selected public. KEY WORDS: urban anthropology; urban segregation; cities; horizontal condominiums; sociability.

The essays are: Idea for a Universal History from a Cosmopolitan Perspective, Conjectural Beginning of Human History and Toward Perpetual Peace. In our understanding, it is possible to assume the idea of antagonism as a guiding thread of an analysis of Kant's philosophy of history, insofar as it is shown that for the philosopher the unsociable sociability is the source of all human progress. Our objective is to highlight three historical philosophical moments in the analyzed texts, and to demonstrate how antagonism is responsible for the passage from one moment to another, thus, corroborating its importance.
