The research will be guided by the rich literature on the Economy of Communion - EdC, and related proposals, the analysis of the documentation produced by the companies that operate from the Ginetta Industrial Park, located in the municipality of Igarassu and the Focolare Movement ratings. The Economy of Communion is pearl focolarino movement, according to its creator Chiara Lubich. Its implementation in Brazil has significant importance for the founder of the Focolare project, as was the socioeconomic situation in the outskirts of São Paulo, the reason and the birthplace of both his original inspiration and the first deployment. Formed by companies producing goods and services, the poles of the Economy of Communion use similar ways to industrial districts, with regard to the pole structure, but its principles of profit sharing are very different, being based on gratuity, reciprocity and sharing of clear Christian inspiration. It is intended, with the help of theoreticians, both the Religious field as the economy, take stock of the effectiveness of implementation fields.

Galeano Revert, Ana María 02 October 2017 (has links)
The agri-food industry is an important economic and social engine in many countries, not only because of its economic importance, but also because of its vital significance. For years, it has been possible to consider that this sector evolution has conducted to the development of centralized and global distribution networks. These global distribution networks, in a market of low value-for-weight products, are more efficient the more centralized their logistics be. This new paradigm has a collateral effect which is the difficult survival of the small producer-sellers with the problems that this entails for citizens as society members. This thesis is part of a project conducted by the Universitat Politècnica de València professors named as HOF3M (Heterarchical Open Food 3-sustainable Market). The project aims to facilitate the development of a triple bottom-line food product market, generating the technological and business bases to reduce entry barriers, so that anyone, anywhere in the world can become an agent that approaches any producer to any consumer. The aim of this thesis is to "provide a methodology for identifying and analysing business models through case studies, with the objective of creating a triple bottom-line, replicable and non-scalable business model bank in the agri-food industry". The application of this methodology provides a tool that facilitates the replicability of business models in the agri-food business context. In addition, it allows to identify those triply sustainable and non-scalable models that can be implemented by consumers, producers and intermediaries. The research work is carried out from literature reviews to understand the business models scope, triple bottom-line business and the context of the agri-food economy, as well as the application of the case study research methodology, for which the proposal is validated. This thesis gives three fundamental contributions: a methodology to identify and analyse a business model through study cases, a triple bottom-line assessment model within the agri-food economy framework, and three food retailing business model analysis. / Galeano Revert, AM. Kontroverzní povaha sociálního podniku jako komercionalizované organizace občanského sektoru / The controversial nature of a social enterprise as a commercialized organization of the civil sector

Hořínková, Monika January 2017 (has links)
The topic of this diploma thesis is the commercialization of civic organizations, which we understand as the process in which they take over some procedures, methods and strategies of the commercial sector in order to generate some profit. As the highest level of commercialization, this work considers the transformation of civil organization into a so called social enterprise. At the next potential level, this civic organization would become a pure market enterprise acting as socially responsible. Thus, a social enterprise is defined as a civic organization, for which profiting is just as important as an increase in public benefit by fulfilling of its own altruistic mission. However, it is said that this social mission may be threatened by the economic one. Whereas the social enterprise combines those two opposing attributes in the form of a social and economic mission, it is considered to be controversial. That's why the aim of this diploma thesis is to determine the importance of a transformation of civic organization into the social enterprise for its life and how this transformation affects its functioning and its essence. The diploma theses is based primarily on the theory of civil society, the civil sector, the social economy and the theory of social enterprise. It is a case study, which...

Social Ventures and the Commons

Serres, Coline 22 June 2021 (has links) (PDF)
Consciousness about the need for a more sustainable consumption and production patterns, as well as the will to cope with issues such as social exclusion and poverty, rose in the last decades. To answer such problems, new forms of social ventures have emerged on markets, including under the legal form of corporations. Social corporations are fully-fledged limited companies that officially commit themselves to a social mission by including the latter in their bylaws. Through their commercial activities, these new forms of social ventures target a specific social outcome. Either the whole population or a targeted group can benefit from this outcome. Thus, social corporations aim to pursue the common good. Entitled “Social Ventures and the Commons”, this doctoral dissertation aims to understand how new alternative profit-seeking business models, such as social corporations, can manage and contribute to the governance of common goods. With her seminal work, Elinor Ostrom widened the path for scholars to study the commons. Ever since, the academic world has extensively relied on her eight design principles when researching commons, allowing for a varied literature on the topic and the emergence of a paradigm in recent years; however, features of this paradigm are still fuzzy as different views and concepts of commons exist. While Ostrom conducted her research on the governance of traditional commons mainly, i.e. local natural resources collectively managed, the emergence of new concepts calls for a better of their governance mechanisms. Amongst the different concepts of commons existing, new commons have recently emerged. New commons are resources that have newly been recognized as commons. They derive from the principle of “commoning”: they are shared resources collectively organized and managed and can take the form of human-made commons, like culture, knowledge or urban spaces. They can be created both by humans and/or by organizations that are managed collectively. The first chapter of the dissertation, in the form of a conceptual paper, sheds light on the capacity of new alternative profit-seeking business models to govern new commons; a topic left out by scholars so far. It states under which conditions such unconventional forms of market-oriented organizations can contribute to the governance of commons and thus become commons-governing companies. Theoretical management principles applicable in the context of commons-governing companies are proposed and guide them to implement collective action through co-management with external and/or internal stakeholders. The second chapter of the dissertation presents an original global typology of social corporations that distinguishes between three generic types according to their legal structure and underlying motivation to integrate a social mission into their bylaws. It identifies four core social corporation governance elements: voting rights implementation, profit distribution, property regime, and ownership structure. Additionally, the typology is complemented with a multiple case study of three social corporations (one per generic type). The case study focuses on the five governance capabilities that social corporations develop to be sustainable in the long run, and that relate to the three main pillars of performance, conformance, and responsibility. The third and last chapter of the thesis aims to comprehend the governance mechanisms developed by social corporations governing new commons. To do so, it draws from the community-based enterprise theory and the theory of the commons. I use qualitative data used collected within three community-based enterprises governing commons, and that adopt a social corporation legal form, in the United Kingdom. These organizations vary by date of creation, size, location, legal form, and types of new commons they contribute to. Findings show that these ventures design a triple-levelled goal governance to (1) manage the organization, (2) govern the commons, and (3) foster social good in the community. This doctoral dissertation primarily aims to contribute to the field of entrepreneurship. First, it contributes to social entrepreneurship by embracing the growing phenomenon of profit-seeking social ventures and provides with a better comprehension of their governance mechanisms, also when governing commons. Second, it sustains the development and understanding of the newly recognized entrepreneurship theory of commons. It does so by understanding how privately-held profit-seeking social ventures – social corporations – contribute to the provision of commons and become commons-governing companies.

Integrace bezdomovců do české společnosti / Integration of Homeless People into Czech Society

Košťálová, Veronika January 2014 (has links)
This thesis titled "Integration of Homeless People into Czech Society " deals with the process of setting public political agenda and the related homelessness (and social exlusion) control policy in the Czech Republic during 2000-2013. This process falls behind in comparison with other countries or even worse - it is completely missed out. Growing number of social exluded people is the result of these faults. The aim is to evaluate conceptual and strategic approach to the integration of homeless people and to the system of homelessness prevention in social work and public administration. Following methods are used: critical discourse analysis, event analysis of public policies and semi-structured interviews with selected respondents. The main deficiency of the homelessness control policy can be the lack of systematic research strategy at the national level, which manifests itself in ineffective approach to homelessness prevention. Primarily a lack of awareness is also the cause of homelessness prevention. Public education would help to understand the roots of homelessness and to comprehend the possibilities of help. Thesis also compares approaches to homelessness prevention in selected countries during the reviewed period.

¿Es necesario un nuevo modelo económico? Una respuesta desde la Economía Social de Mercado y el principio de subsidiariedad / Is a new economic model necessary? An answer from the Social Market Economy and the principle of subsidiarity

Rezkalah Accinelli, Eduardo 12 1900 (has links)
This article aims to demonstrate, starting from the study of neoliberalism, that the economic model of the social market economy contained in the Political Constitution of Peru must be interpreted from its essence and fundamental principles, therefore, the need for a change in the economic model it is unnecessary. Therefore, the need arises to return to its initial foundations, as well as to interpret it from the principle of subsidiarity to establish the necessary adaptations to the current social and economic environment, so that other areas of law such as both, commercial and competition law, can adapt from the essence of the model.

How Important is Sustainability for Start-ups? : An Investigation on the Sustainability Transition within Stockholm Ventures / Hur viktig är hållbarhet för start-ups?

BULHA LOPES PEREIRA, SIMONE PAULA, IONEL DRAGAN, CONSTANTIN January 2020 (has links)
This thesis seeks to explore the importance of sustainability within start-up organisations and investigate the sustainability transition within selected ventures. The research conducted applies a multiple case study design, combined with a literature review to answer the research question: ‘How Important is Sustainability for Start-ups?’. Six case studies are conducted from various industries, in order to obtain a purposive sample. The sample comprises start-ups that are technology focused, of a size below ten people and located in Stockholm, Sweden. Within this investigation, the concept of sustainability is defined through the triple bottom line approach; social, environmental, and economic, and supported by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals developed by the United Nations. Further concepts of Social Economy are applied, while the basis of the research questionnaire is the Social Economy Canvas. Moreover, the Multi-Level Perspective theoretical framework is applied to provide structure and support to the developed theories, placing sustainability within a broader perspective. As a result of the data collection and analysis, the following findings are presented. Firstly, digital start-ups struggle to have an impact on environmental sustainability when not working directly within this area. Secondly, in the ideation stages, start-ups have the intention of becoming sustainable according to the triple bottom line. However, when start-ups evolve, their sustainability goals may come into conflict with other factors that add layers of complexity in decision making. Thirdly, it is evidenced that a sustainability transition occurs in the observed case studies, as start-ups adopt more sustainable business practices and entrepreneurs are inspired to pursue new businesses or sustainability-oriented business models. Lastly, Sweden proves itself as a sustainability enabler, offering significant sustainability advantages to organisations based in Sweden.
