Klassifikation och efterfrågan : En utvärdering av klassifikationen och efterfrågan på tal- och ljudböcker på Nordmalings bibliotekEjelöv, Andrea January 2012 (has links)
Sammanfattning Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att utvärdera tal- och ljudböckers klassifikation på biblioteket, hemsidan och i statistiken och efterfrågan på tal- och ljudböcker. Det bibliotek som utvärderingen har utförts på är Nordmalings bibliotek i Västerbottens län. Utlåningen av tal- och ljudböcker kommer att jämföras med klassifikationen av tal- och ljudböcker. Målet är att hitta förändringar som gör klassifikationen och beslut om beståndet av tal- och ljudböcker enklare för bibliotekarierna. Även efterfrågan på tal- och ljudböcker kommer att undersökas i uppsatsen. För att besvara frågeställningarna användes statistiken från år 2010 på KB:s hemsida samt en egen sökning av formaten på tal- och ljudböcker på den gemensamma hemsidan för Umeåregionens folkbibliotek,www.minabibibliotek.se, som gjordes i november 2011. Det gjordes även en intervju med en ur personalen på Nordmalings bibliotek. De resultat som kom fram under undersökningen var att klassifikationerna på hemsidan behöver ses över och personalen på Nordmalings bibliotek borde försöka ta reda på hur LIBRA (det system som tar fram statistiken till biblioteken i Umeåregionen) delar in tal- och ljudböckerna när det räknar ut statistiken. De har även ett stort bestånd av talböcker samtidigt som efterfrågan på talböcker minskar på biblioteken. Efterfrågan på ljudböcker ökar och då också kravet på att köpa in fler ljudböcker. Det viktigaste av mina förslag är att alla de 25 folkbiblioteken i Umeåregionen beslutar om gemensamma riktlinjer för klassificering av AV-media på bland annat hemsidan.

Några användares synpunkter på digitala talböckerGrensjö, Nina January 2009 (has links)
I den här uppsatsen har jag undersökt några talboksanvändares krav, erfarenheter och förväntningar på talböcker. Jag har även sett över hur inläsningarna av talböcker förändrats över tid. Jag har i undersökningen intervjuat en grupp på fyra dyslektiker och två personer som arbetar med digitala talböcker. De frågor som jag har sökt svar på i denna utvärdering är. Hur fungerar inläsningarna för användarna? Hur har inläsningarna förändrats över tid? Bör inläsningarna ske med eller utan dramatisering? Vad finns det för alternativ till inläsningar (för olika genrer?) Jag har även undersökt hur talböcker respektive kommersiella ljudböcker lånas ut idag och hur talböcker lånades ut för ett par år sedan. De viktigaste resultaten är att Tal- och Punktskriftsbibliotekets egenproducerade syntetiska röst Folke borde förbättras och att det borde gå snabbare för studenter att få sin litteratur inläst. Dessutom finns det önskemål att talböckerna ska ta efter ljudböckerna som har mer dramatisering och inlevelse i inläsningarna än talböckerna. När det gäller faktaböcker anser de intervjuade användarna ofta att de är tråkiga att lyssna på. De finns dock även andra önskemål på faktaböcker i talboksform, som t ex att de borde vara med en bild, tabell eller punktlista så att man kan titta på dem medan man lyssnar.

The aim of this study is to examine what view librarians have on reading promotion with focus on their work with reading groups for people with print disabilities. The study is based on four semi-structured interviews with librarians. The results from the interviews were analyzed with Jofrid Karner Smidt’s theory on different kinds of reading promotion roles.The study shows that the librarians in charge of reading groups for people with print disabilities mostly used their abilities of literature and marketing, but the pedagogical and human role were also found in the results. The reading group also turned out to have, outside the theories, a clear social meaning. This reveals that it is not only the literature that is important in the reading groups for print disabled people.The conclusion shows that the librarians in the study were using the reading group not only as a reading promotion activity but also as a marketing activity and as a place for the print disabled to socialize with other people.

Barriärer vid talboksutlåning? : Folkbibliotekets tjänster till äldre synskadade / Barriers in borrowing audiobooks? : Service from the local library to elderly visually impairedRundkrantz, Birgitta January 2016 (has links)
In this bachelor thesis the aim is to explore which barriers elderly visually impaired people can meet when they are borrowing audiobooks in the local library. Eight respondents were interviewed about their opinion of the service from the library and the information concerning this service. Two group interviews were held on two different occasions with three respective four respondents in each group and eight in-terviews were held by telephone. Studies of rules and guidelines in the society, and of texts about and by elderly impaired people, have been made. The analysis has been performed with a qualitative content analysis method. The result of the interviews is that books have a great importance in the respondents’ life and that it is of great significance that the service works smoothly. The respondents were not satisfied with the information from the libraries. Some of them have not had any information at all, neither of new books nor about the library’s service to the visually impaired. The respondents wish that the librarians were more responsive to their wishes. Criticism was also expressed about the form and quality of the audiobook and audio players.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka och analysera nöjesläsning hos vuxna talboksanvändare. Genom semistrukturerade intervjuer har empiri kring sökstrategier vid litteraturval för nöjesläsning, medieplattformar och övrig teknik som används iläsningen, samt beskrivningar av läsupplevelser samlats in och analyserats. Identiteten som talboksläsare är viktig för respondenterna, det är genom denna de bygger upp sociala nätverk online och läsningen blir ett sätt att lindra ensamhet och ångest. De tekniska hjälpmedel som används bidrar till den känsla av kontroll och självständighet som möjligheten att ladda ner talböcker från onlinekatalogen Legimus bidragit till. De teknikproblem som uppstår relativt ofta förtar inte från det höga värde talboksläsarna tillsätter Legimus.

This thesis examines talking books at public libraries. The thesis focuses on what the digital evolution has cometo mean in terms of Internet-based access to talking books. The survey is based on interviews with library staff and a socio-cultural theoretical perspective. The survey aims to examine the library's talking book function as a phenomenon in which cognitive, physical, communicative and temporal dimensions are considered. The survey demonstrates that the library staff associates talking books with goals concerning everyone's right to access to literature and reading and libraries intermediary role in this regard, which these often tied to broader public librari -es goals concerning the promotion of reading, democracy, accessibility and where the establishment of the service Egen nedladdning is understood from thoughts of greater, easier and more efficient access to talking books for the talking book reader, and as an opportunity for independence for the same. Physical talking books are disussedas a tool that can be used to establish and convey the talking book function in library premises. In terms o finformation dissemination and surrounding activities are made visible not least a network-based method and spontaneous meetings. Egen nedladdning and the app Legimus imparts opportunities for those expressing interestin the face of these, but older talking book readers can communicate a smaller interest in the use of these tools. Recording sessions for the service Egen nedladdning, and possible challenges in connection to these, are also takeninto account and also information and knowledge acquisition among librarians in the case of talking books. Also, the communication and meetings between the talking book readers and library staff are discussed, and the service Egen nedladdning impact on this question. The essay ends with a discussion in which the talking book function at public libraries is discussed based on themes of space, technology and literature brokering and where operational opportunities and challenges in this regard are outlined. This is a two years master’s thesis in Libraryand information science.

The aim of this qualitative study is to examine how users of talking books perceive the possibility of downloading talking books from home without visiting the library and how this affects them. Three research questions were formulated:How do talking book users reflect on their library usage?Have the subject's' library usage changed since introduction to the download service?How have users experienced the service?To answer these questions, five semi structured interviews were conducted with five different users of talking books in Sweden. All subjects were currently using download services which they had gained access to from their local public libraries. In analyzing the interviews, a theory established by Henrik Jochumsen and Casper Hvenegaard Rasmussen in Gør biblioteket en forskel (2000) was used. This allowed us to better understand different roles of the library. The study shows that users find the ability to borrow books as the main reason for using the library. It was further established that the subjects' library usage had not changed since introduction to download services. All users reported satisfaction with the services. We have identified the issues experienced by users to be mainly connected to print disabilities or lacking computer skills. / Program: Bibliotekarie

This Master thesis is about elderly visually impaired and their use of libraries. It poses the question how visually impaired elderly looks upon their local library. Their thoughts and opinions are mainly from two sides. One is what they think about the service that they get. The other is what they think about the information concerning this service. The thesis consists of six interviews with respondents and one interview with a librarian. The librarian has also been asked about the service and information to the visually impaired. The analysis is made with narrative analysis and theories from Professor Tom Wilson, Lars Höglund and Olle Person. Professor Tom Wilson’s theories are about the questions of the context of information you might have when you search for information. Höglund and Person deal with the information needs and the sources that might be available. The result of the interviews is that the information about the library’s service to the visually impaired could be better. A better communication between the visually impaireds’ main organization and the library could solve this problem. It is also a clear tendency from the elderly visually impaired to be content with what they receive and not making any further demands.

The purpose of this Master’s thesis is to examine the accessibility and barriers of public libraries to intellectual and mentally disabled children and young people. This we will do by examining whether the library staff acts according to policies of the libraries. Our method has been qualitative interviews with library staff and we have also observed the environment, media and marketing of these libraries. As a theoretical starting point of the analysis we use Michael Buckland’s different aspects of access to information. He discusses six types of barriers that must be overcome if access is to be achieved and we use five of these barriers in our study. We have attempted to answer the following questions: •What does the library range of media look like to the disabled children and young people?•Which services do the libraries offer to the disabled children and young people?•How is the physical environment designed for the disabled persons at the libraries?•How does the library inform about their services to the disabled people and market them to these groups?The results of this study show that in all libraries, the staff displayed a positive attitude towards the disabled children. We noticed that all libraries appeared to have quite a good media collection and good services for those children. The aim of this thesis is to investigate how students in higher education use talking books. This has been inves-tigated through qualitative interviews with nine students. The intention has been to find out how they use talk-ing books and why they have chosen to do it in the way they have, looking specifically on whether there are strategies shared by most of the interviewees. As a theoretical basis of the thesis I have chosen a study, described by Sigrid Hongset, where dyslectic pu-pils tried using printed text and text on tape, as well as both simultaneously. George Kingsley Zipfs “Principle of least effort” will act as a supplemental theory. The interviews show that the students use talking books in different ways. Most read them via a computer, either using a program specifically made for talking book reading or a general purpose audio program. Some used portable players, such as mp3-players. None of them used a talking book player at the time and only a few used several of the special functions that the digital DAISY format offers. All the interviewees used printed books alongside the talking books. Some used them concurrently, while others did not. One thing they had in common was that they had, mostly purposefully, made strategies for how to study with the talking books, but these strategies were vastly different between them. It was obvious that different factors were important regarding their choices of technique. They were working towards as hassle free a use as possible. In this aspect there was a noticeable clash between different kinds of effort. The need not to carry around cumbersome equipment might for example be greater than the need to have all the functions of the DAISY format available. Several of them did not have full knowledge of the functions available in the DAISY format, but they did not appear to view that as a problem. Meanwhile there was a certain amount of frustration aimed towards insuf-ficiencies inherit in the talking book format.
