Det ökade användandet av Instagram : En studie om design och innehåll på Instagram / The increased use of Instagram

Morsing, Sabina January 2020 (has links)
As a result of the emergence of new technological opportunities in the last decade, new digital oppor-tunities have been created. Social media is a relat-ively new phenomenon that has contributed to a greater interest in the world offered online. This study focus on Instagram and aims to create know-ledge and understanding of what it is that has con-tributed to it being the most used social media today. This study aspire to answer questions about which design elements and in what way information and content is structured on Instagram, and how it can contribute to its increased use. To answer the ques-tions, a method combination of qualitative and quantitative research was used and a questionnaire was created to collect empirical data. A content ana-lysis was used to examine the collected empirical data. The result indicates that design elements that offer the user the opportunity to interact with content and the infinity scrolling function contribute to an increased use of Instagram. The result also shows that Instagram's information and content are struc-tured in a simple and clear way through good navig-ation options and personalization algorithm, which also contributes to increased use of Instagram.

Reinholdsson, Filip, Tyrbro Wästle, Daniel January 2021 (has links)
Swedish Government Agencies’ websites are an ever-increasing part of societal benefit with more and more things moving to the web. To accommodate the wide variety of people coming to these websites to procure information, use government services, etc., it is important that the symbols used are easy to understand by anyone. Previous research has been made on the subject of icon design in terms of accuracy and performance but not much research has been done to see if the icons used by important societal infrastructure on the internet are designed to accommodate the users these websites are visited by every day. We conducted a study to test this out using a questionnaire to record data on how people interpret these icons. The data was then analyzed and showed that the symbols used by Swedish Government Agencies are difficult to understand, mainly due to having elements of design that causes confusion as the interpretation did not align with the intended meaning. An updated set of icons was procured and tested using the same methods which gave further insight into how these icons can be improved.

The feasibility of face scanning as an age verification tool from a technical- and UX-perspective

Lindmark, Emma January 2021 (has links)
Within technical retail solutions, such as self-checkouts, Click & Collect boxes, and vending machines, there is always an ongoing process to find ways to make them as self-sufficient as possible. One occasion where personnel is still needed is when an age control for age-restricted products needs to be done. In this thesis work the possibilities to use face scanning as an age verification tool is investigated. The age estimation used by the examined software is powered by an AI that performs the age estimation based on a face scan of the person in front of the camera. It is the user experience, as well as the accuracy of the age estimation, that is being analysed. The study was done with quantitative research that included literature studies and a user test together with a survey.  There were a total of 100 participants in the user test and 89 in the survey. From the results in this paper, the conclusion is that the age estimation is not yet accurate enough to be used in real-life situations, at least not without a high age buffer. The user experience was perceived as good and indicated that a solution like this would be approved and used by the approaching crowd.

En studie av användarupplevelse (UX) i ett cross-channel sammanhang : Användarnas upplevelse av boklån på högskolebiblioteket i Borås / A study of user experience (UX) in the context of cross-channel : The users’ experience of book loan at the library of University of Borås

Tan, Dennis, Truong, Hellen January 2021 (has links)
The bachelor thesis aims to explore whether students perceive the usage of self-service technology (SST) as positive, neutral or negative, which occurs before, under and after a visit at the library of University of Borås. In this paper, a qualitative user diary was used as a method to gather empirical data. An established UX method, customer journey mapping (CJM), was selected to analyze the empirical findings. The findings were further analyzed with a theoretical framework of the predecessor David Benyon to gain a deeper understanding of user experience in a cross-channel context. The study shows that students are overall positive to the usage of SST, but a deficiency of information affects the positive experience throughout the library.

Larsson, Martin January 2023 (has links)

Evaluating Predictive AI for Taxi Fleet Positioning Management

Blume, Pontus January 2023 (has links)
Predictive AI has huge potential to increase efficiency in taxi networks, improving incomes of drivers and passengers’ time, by calculating passenger demands and making the informationaccessible to drivers. However, to gain these benefits, drivers must accept the technology, and designers must understand how their perceptions govern acceptance. This study evaluates predictive AI applied to taxi fleet management from a user acceptance perspective, in the context of a proposed extended technology acceptance model, with added user experience constructs.Process modelling of a taxi organisation was performed to see how the algorithm fit into that context, and an app was designed to give taxi drivers access to its output. After a period, semistructured interviews were conducted, and thematic analysis was performed to identify what factors were important for their acceptance. The study found that visual design, interactivity, complexity, compatibility, utility, inclusivity, norms, presentation, and trustworthiness were factors that needed to be addressed by designers for successful implementation of predictive AI in the context of taxi fleet management.

Integrating ChatGPT into the UX Design Process : Ideation and Prototyping with LLMs

Ekvall, Hubert, Winnberg, Patrik January 2023 (has links)
This paper presents an exploratory work on using Large Language Models (LLM) in User Experience (UX) design. Previous research shows that UX designers struggle to envision novel designs and to prototype with AI as a design material. We set out to investigate the question of how designers can be sensitized to LLMs, and their implications for the professional role of UX designers. Using autobiographical design, we develop a prototype of a digital workspace (the “PromptBoard”) for designing and prototyping chatbots utilizing ChatGPT. A design sprint workshop with six participants is performed, in an effort to answer the research questions by working with the PromptBoard. Discussions and participant-designed artifacts are analysed using thematic analysis. Findings include that participants are able to express design ideas and successfully create chatbots using the tool but express a conflicting sense of lacking creativity or ownership of the results. Implications to the field of UX design are discussed.

Improving the sustainability in student housing with digital integration

Lundqvist, Max January 2023 (has links)
Sustainability is an important factor in many different industries and the housing industry is not an exception. Especially when the housing is intended for students, more accurately international students which ads on layers of difficulty in regards to sustainability. Ecological, economic and social sustainability becomes increasingly more difficult to achieve when providing housing for international students. Why can be answered in many different ways such as cultural differences, different way of life or just the question regarding the Ac unit or lack of it in Sweden. Akademiska Hus is a industry leading company in Sweden for providing sustainable housing to international students. They constantly work with question regarding sustainability such as how they can make the housing more sustainable as well as keeping all the involved parties in the process happy. They have therefore been researching new ways to approach this question. This master thesis focuses on evaluating a potential improvement regards to sustainability question as well as keeping all the parties involved happy. The focus is on finding how all matters regarding housing can be integrated into one application. The areas investigated is (1) model of integration, (2) the approach for the system integration, and (3) the user experience of the developed application that is tested. The work in the thesis was divided into three parts. The first part was to find out the problems in the housing today and the goals with the application, this included research into the different fields as well as an external analysis. The second part was gathering data by conducting user interviews with the intended users of the application as well as testing the application on them. Data was also collected by analysing the application and how it works in regards to the system itself. Lastly the data was analyzed several times with the double diamond approach. The results showed that an application such as the one tested could greatly improve sustainability in the housing with the most important functions being messaging, community, making error reports and having access to documentation in the library. However, the application needs to be tested more in larger scale in the form of a pilot test to make a more accurate decision to as if it is worth investing in.

Effects on User Engagement as a Result of Improved Usability and Design in Form-Based User Interfaces

Junghahn, Erik January 2023 (has links)
This thesis examines how usability and design improvements affect user engagement on a website. By conducting interviews and analysing user behaviour and feedback related to a job application form, the study demonstrates that enhancements in usability and design can lead to improved quality in user responses. Specifically, an increase in the length and quality of text field input was observed, along with improved responses regarding profile pictures, links, and documents. However, there are certain limitations to consider, including the fact that participants were aware of the monitoring during the interviews, which could influence the authenticity of the results. Additionally, other factors that could have influenced user engagement were not taken into account, making it difficult to solely attribute the changes to usability and design improvements.

Developing Recommendations for a Mobile Pet Marketplace from a UX Perspective / Att utveckla rekommendationer för en mobil marknadsplats för husdjur ur ett UX perspektiv

Arroyo Pizarro, Roxana January 2019 (has links)
Despite the importance of pets in people’s lives and the possible emotional value of purchasing a pet, there is a lack of niche pet marketplaces. There is also a gap in research regarding the design of online marketplaces for finding pets and how users experience them. With this thesis project, I aim to touch upon that gap and provide insights to build upon in future research. This is achieved by providing recommendations of features that can enhance the user experience by addressing existing needs and concerns. To answer the research questions, interviews and a workshop were conducted followed by an analysis. Based on the findings, prototypes were designed and evaluated. Finally, the results of the study are discussed from a user experience perspective.
