La promotion sur Internet : analyse d’un discours sous l’angle du mythe. Le cas de labels indépendants de rap au Québec

À l’heure où l’industrie de l’enregistrement sonore connait un certain nombre de bouleversements, Internet apparait à la fois comme un responsable d’une crise du disque et comme une plate-forme de diffusion et de promotion de la musique enregistrée. C’est dans ce contexte de mutations des industries culturelles que sont les industries de la musique que les labels indépendants voient les possibilités liées à la promotion se multiplier. Notamment par le biais des sites internet que j’envisage ici comme discours encodé et diffusé. Ce mémoire explore deux sites internet officiels de labels indépendants de rap québécois à l’aide de la proposition de la présence du mythe dans le discours de promotion. S’appuyant sur la théorie de Barthes, mon analyse s’articule autour de l’étude de la signification afin de mettre en lumière la façon dont le mythe fonctionne dans le discours. En m’intéressant principalement à l’image et au texte, je mets notamment en valeur le traitement de l’artiste, de la création musicale et du label dans le discours. / At a time when the music recording industry is going through some shake ups, Internet is seen both as a responsible for a disc crisis and as a plateform for diffusion and promotion of recorded music. This cultural industries' mutations context is now revealing multiple promotion opportunities for independant labels, as part of the music industries. This can be seen through websites which I consider to be a broadcasted, encoded and decoded discourse. This master thesis explore two independant record companys’ websites, both producing rap music in Québec, with the proposal of the presence of the myth in the promotionnal discourse. Based on Barthes' theory, my analysis is built around the study of the signification in order to outline the way the myth works in the discourse. While focusing on images and text, I mainly emphasize the treatment of the artist, the musical creation and the record label in the discourse.

網路資源融入國小五年級英語教學之研究 / A study of integrating internet resources into english course on elementary school fifth grade

本研究旨以網路資源融入國小五年級英語教學,探討學生對於實際使用英語相關網路資源的學習態度與意見,分析適合國民小學五年級學生學習程度的英語網路資源特質以及探討教師對於利用網站資源融入英語教學的意見與看法;並綜合研究結果,瞭解英語網路資源對於學生的幫助、困難及實施情形。 本研究使用問卷調查法輔以對學生與校內教師進行深度訪談進行研究,透過改編之「網路資源融入英語教學問卷調查表」,以Google 線上問卷形式對五年級196位學生進行調查,調查結果以Excel 統計其次數分配及百分比,並以立意抽樣方式,選取7位學生與3位教師進行深度訪談。 根據資料分析結果,本研究結論如下: 一、 網路資源融入英語教學對學生的英語學習興趣與動機有正面的影響,對學生英語成績的提升有幫助且更能吸收課外知識,還能提升對英語的喜好。 二、 全英文的網頁說明或還沒學過的英語單字是學生認為在使用英語網路資源時會遭遇的困難;網站分類清楚且各項說明容易理解並易於操作,網站內容有依程度分級,或具搜尋功能,較能吸引學生喜愛。 三、 教師篩選彙整資源網站後連結於其教學網站,上課時是老師的雲端資源庫,課後亦可成為學生的學習平台。 四、 動畫、影片是學生最喜愛且認為最具學習幫助的網路素材,動畫語音速度放慢,並附有中文字幕輔助學生理解,較具有輔助英語學習的效果。 五、 使用網路資源融入英語教學能豐富教學內容,有效激發學生的學習動機,並養成學生複習的習慣,是可行的教學方式。 最後根據研究結論,就教師教學、教育行政單位以及後續研究等方面提出建議。 / Through integrating the internet resources into the fifth grade English classroom instruction, the aims of this research are : (1) investigating the students’ attitudes and opinions on the use of English language internet resources, (2) analyzing the characteristics of English language internet resources that are suitable for the level of fifth grade English class as well as (3) discussing the teachers ’suggestions and viewpoints on the integrating the internet resources into the English teaching. In addition, the summary of research results offers the information on the understanding of the assistance given by, difficulty encountered and processing situations in the use of the English language internet resources. This research adopted questionnaire survey and in- depth interviews to realize the openions of students and teachers. The questionnaires accomplished by online survey with Google Forms. The questionnaires received 196 respones of students. Microsoft Excel were taken to compile statistics distribution and percentages. This research also had in-depth interviews conducted with seven fifth grade students and three school teachers in working of teaching English. According to the results of the statistics analysis, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. There are positive impacts on students' interest and motivation in learning English by using internet resources into English class. Not only can enhance the effects of learning English, but also improve the absorption of extra-curricular knowledge. More importantly, can promote the joy of learning English. 2. Students consider that the problems in using English internet resources are the instructions of webpages in English and the vocabularies which have not learned. Students like to use the website which classification is clear, the instructions are easy to understand and operate. If the content can be classified by students’levels and be easy to search, it would be best for student learning. 3. Teachers select and collect English internet resources by linking to their teaching website. It will be the resource library of teachers when they’re teaching. It also can be a platform for student's learning after class. 4. The favorite internet resources of students are animations and films. They help students to learn more. In order to enhance the effects of learning English and increase their understanding of English. It’s necessary to slow down the sound speed of the animation and increase Chinese subtitles 5. Using internet resources into English class can enrich teaching contents and inspire students’ learning motivation effectively. By this method, students can cultivate good habit of reviewing English. Furthermore, it is a practicable teaching method. According to the conclusions of this study, Suggestions and recommendations were provided for the teachers, schools and future studies.

Crowdsourcing the production of public art : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the degree of Master of Design, Massey University College of Creative Arts, Institute of Communication Design

Many people that would like to contribute at some level towards creating art in public spaces. However little is currently being done to make use of this untapped potential. The difficulties involved with collecting and coordinating dispersed talent often prevents it from being utilized. But now the Internet offers new opportunities to make harnessing latent talent much easier. Successful online platforms (such as Wikipedia and YouTube) demonstrate the potential value that can be derived from volunteers when appropriate systems are in place to utilize their contributions. Jeff Howe refers to this idea of harnessing distributed volunteered effort via the web as ‘crowdsourcing’. Which he explains as “the process by which the power of many can be leveraged to accomplish feats that were once the province of a specialized few” (2008). This thesis aims to investigate how an online platform might harness voluntary contributions in order to produce public art. The design objective for this project is to develop an online platform that allows people to contribute towards creating art in public spaces. My research explores the needs and motivations of potential contributors as well as techniques for harnessing voluntary contribution and coordinating group effort. As understanding human behaviour and user interaction is central to this project I have adopted a user-centered approach to research and development. To better understand the requirements of the proposed online platform user research was initially conducted in the form of focus groups with potential users and then via an in depth case study. In order to tackle the challenge of designing an entire platform the process was divided into distinct elements that could be addressed individually. These elements included the core functionality, the brand identity, the structural design, the interface design, and the visual design. For each element I consider what techniques might help to better harness voluntary contribution. The final result provides an online environment for people to get involved with specific art projects around their city. Projects are presented as separate challenges and users can contribute at many different levels such as sharing designs online, attending events, or simply providing feedback

Διάφορες μελέτες έχουν πραγματοποιηθεί τα τελευταία χρόνια με σκοπό τη αξιολό-γηση των υπηρεσιών και των ιστοτόπων ΗΔ και την αναγνώριση των αιτιών της χα-μηλής διείσδυσης της ΗΔ και την εξεύρεση λύσεων για την αποτελεσματικότερη πα-ροχή υπηρεσιών. Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας είναι ο προσδιορισμός ενός μοντέ-λου - εργαλείου αξιολόγησης κυβερνητικών ιστότοπων. Για αυτό το σκοπό αρχικά μελετήθηκε η διεθνής βιβλιογραφία σχετικά με τα μοντέλα και τα κριτήρια αξιολό-γησης ιστότοπων γενικότερου ενδιαφέροντος, ηλεκτρονικού εμπορίου και κυβερνητι-κών ιστότοπων, καθώς επίσης με τα κριτήρια αξιολόγησης ποιότητας παρεχόμενων ηλεκτρονικών υπηρεσιών. Με βάση τα παραπάνω προσδιορίστηκε μοντέλο αξιολό-γησης κυβερνητικών ιστότοπων αποτελούμενο από πέντε (5) διαστάσεις αξιολόγησης (Δομή, Περιεχόμενό, Αξιοπιστία, Προσβασιμότητα, Ορατότητα) και τριάντα (30) δείκτες μέτρησης (metrics). Οι δείκτες που προσδιορίστηκαν είναι ποσοτικοί και για την εκτίμησή τους και την εφαρμογή του μοντέλου αναπτύχθηκε σχετικό λογισμικό. / Various studies have been conducted in recent years in order to evaluate services and e-Government websites and identify the causes of their poor. The purpose of this pa-per is to define a model - assessment tool for governmental websites. For this purpose, the existing literature on models and evaluation criteria of general purpose websites, e-commerce websites and e-government websites as well as the quality criteria of electronic services were studied. Based on the above an evaluation model for e-Government websites consisted of five (5) assessment dimensions (Structure, Con-tent, Reliability, Accessibility, Visibility) and thirty (30) measurement indicators (metrics) was developed. In order to apply the developed evaluation model and proceed to an automated evaluation of e-Government websites, a relevant software was implemented.

L’objectif de cette thèse est d’étudier, sous un angle sociologique, la nouvelle pratique de mesure de la performance des entreprises en matière de développement durable. Cette pratique émergente constitue un espace social où s’articulent divers jeux de pouvoir, de confrontation et de résistance de nombre d’acteurs engagés dans le domaine du développement durable. Le premier article présume que l’analyse du discours, socialement construit et constitué, entourant les mesures produites et diffusées (souvent très médiatisées), joue un rôle fondamental dans la compréhension de ladite pratique. En particulier, le discours transmis par les organismes de mesure de la performance socio-environnementale des entreprises, aussi bien dans leurs sites web que dans leurs documents publics, se trouve à promouvoir une idéologie du chiffre qui sous-tend l’exercice d’un certain pouvoir de type disciplinaire sur les entreprises évaluées. En dépit de toutes les ambiguïtés et les incertitudes méthodologiques associées à la pratique de la mesure socio-environnementale, les organismes de mesure s’efforcent de développer et de transmettre un discours, relativement réducteur, pour légitimer leur revendication d’expertise en la matière. Le deuxième article de cette thèse fait état des stratégies de légitimation déployées par les organismes de mesure ainsi que leurs effets disciplinaires sur les entreprises évaluées et les parties prenantes. Il s’agit, dans les faits, du pouvoir disciplinaire et de normalisation de l’idéologie des chiffres qui peut induire certains effets d’autodiscipline dans le champ du développement durable en général. Une telle autodiscipline s’observe également dans le monde universitaire lorsque les gardes-frontières des organisations font pression sur les chercheurs à renoncer à la publication de leurs recherches. Prenant la forme d’une étude méthodologique, le troisième article de la thèse cherche à susciter une réflexion sur les entraves que peut poser le pouvoir des gardiens des organisations, notamment lorsque celui prend la forme de menaces de poursuites judiciaires, sur l’indépendance et la liberté des chercheurs et des universités auxquelles ils se rattachent. / The objective of this dissertation is to examine, under a sociological lens, the new practice of the corporate sustainability performance measurement. This emerging practice seems to be a social space where are structured various games of power, confrontation and resistance of many actors involved in the field of sustainable development. The first paper assumes that discourse analysis, socially constructed and constituted, surrounding measurements produced and disclosed (often highly popularized through the media), plays a fundamental role in the understanding of the practice of corporate sustainability performance measurement. In particular, the discourse transmitted by the sustainability ratings and rankings agencies (SRRA), both on their websites and in their public documents, tends to promote an ideology of numbers that exerts disciplinary power over companies appraised. Despite all the ambiguities and methodological uncertainties associated with the practice of socio-environmental performance measurement, SRRA strive to develop and transmit discourse, quite reductive, to legitimize their claim to expertise in the field. The second paper of this dissertation outlines the legitimation strategies deployed by SRRA and the disciplinary impacts of these strategies on companies scrutinized and stakeholders. Actually, it is the disciplinary power and the normalization power of the ideology of numbers which can induce some effects of self-discipline in the field of sustainable development in general. Such self-discipline is also observed in the academic world when corporate gate-keepers put pressure on researchers to abandon the publication of their research. As a methodological study, the third paper of the dissertation seeks to stimulate reflection on the impediments that the power of the corporate gate-keepers can pose on the independence and the freedom of the researchers and the universities to which they are attached, especially in the case of threats of lawsuits.

Internet a profondément changé la manière dont les entreprises interagissent avec leurs clients. Le développement d’une relation client en ligne a mené les organisations à repenser l’idée qu’elles se faisaient de cette relation, ainsi que leurs pratiques en termes de marketing relationnel. Cette recherche vise à mieux comprendre la manière dont les utilisateurs d’espaces clients de sites web évaluent la qualité de la relation client en ligne, et inclut une dimension importante dans l’évaluation de la qualité de la relation en ligne, l’appropriation de l’espace client.Une étude qualitative a été menée auprès de 15 personnes, afin d’étudier les variables permettant de construire le modèle de recherche et de proposer une échelle de mesure de l’appropriation des espaces clients de sites web. Par la suite, un modèle de recherche a été créé et un questionnaire en ligne a été administré. Un échantillon final se composant de 534 personnes, utilisatrices d’espaces clients de sites web dans le secteur bancaire et dans le secteur de la téléphonie mobile, a permis de tester les hypothèses de recherche. Il en résulte que l’appropriation de l’espace client du site web joue un rôle médiateur entre deux variables - la facilité d’utilisation perçue et l’utilité perçue - et la qualité de la relation client en ligne, que ce soit pour les utilisateurs d’espaces clients de sites web dans le secteur bancaire ou dans le secteur de la téléphonie mobile. De même, la sécurité/confidentialité perçue de l’espace client du site web exerce une influence positive sur la qualité de la relation client en ligne. L’hypothèse postulant que l’interactivité perçue de l’espace client du site web exerce une influence positive sur la qualité de la relation client en ligne est partiellement validée. En revanche, la présence sociale de l’espace client du site web n’exerce pas une influence positive sur la qualité de la relation client en ligne. / The Internet has dramatically changed the way companies interact with their customers. Because of the importance of e-customer relationship management, companies have to reconsider their strategies in terms of relationship marketing. The purpose of this research is to investigate the way users of personal websites’ accounts evaluate e-relationship quality within two sectors: the banking sector and the mobile phone sector. This research deals with an important concept: appropriation.A qualitative study has been conducted in order to build a research model and to create a measurement scale to study the appropriation of a personal websites’ account. Therefore, an online survey (N=534) was conducted to test the hypothesis. The findings suggest that the appropriation of a personal websites’ account is a mediating variable between perceived ease of use, perceived usability and relationship quality, both in the banking sector and in the mobile phone sector. In the same way, privacy has a positive influence on e-relationship quality. Moreover, perceived interactivity has a positive influence on e-relationship quality, but that particular hypothesis is partially validated. Finally, social presence does not have a positive influence on e-relationship quality.

Esse trabalho foi desenvolvido metodologicamente utilizando uma abordagem qualitativa, tendo por base a pesquisa descritiva na forma documental, utilizando a técnica de observação direta para a coleta de dados. A pesquisa fez uma investigação da publicidade das ações relacionadas aos prontuários e arquivos, nos sítios eletrônicos de doze instituições de saúde previamente escolhidas, respondendo objetivamente a dezoito questões formuladas, conhecendo assim a realidade de cada uma, e do conjunto destas no que tange a relação prontuário e arquivo da instituição de saúde com os respectivos sítios eletrônicos. Essa investigação revelou que nenhuma instituição apresentou em seu sítio eletrônico a totalidade de respostas positivas. A instituição que chegou mais próximo do resultado alcançou doze das dezoito respostas, que representa 66,67%, revelando assim a necessidade dos sítios eletrônicos serem melhorados para a garantia do acesso a informação dos clientes ou pacientes. O trabalho apresentou ainda o panorama atual da legislação sobre prontuário, as correlações com a prática e a identificação de ações quanto a soluções para inserção dessa espécie documental como instrumento relevante de registro de informação para a eficácia de um atendimento de qualidade e com segurança jurídica ao paciente. / ABSTRACT The research presented in this Master’s thesis investigated the use and importance of patients’ medical records at health institutions, by publishing actions or information on their official websites. This study was developed methodologically using a qualitative approach, having descriptive research in documentary form as a base, and utilizing the technique of direct observation for data collection. The research analyzed the disclosure of actions related to medical records and archives on the websites of 12 previously selected health institutions, objectively responding to 18 formulated questions. The reality of each institution and the group as a whole with regards to the health institutions’ medical records and files’ relation with their websites was discovered in this way. The analysis revealed that none of the institutions presented totally positive replies on their websites. The institution which came closest to the outcome attained 12 of the 18 responses, representing 66.67%. Therefore, this revealed the need for improvements to the websites, in order to guarantee access to information on clients or patients. This study also presents an overview of legislation on medical records, correlations with practice and identifying actions for solutions to insert a patient’s medical records as a relevant instrument to record information for an effective, high quality service and legal certainty for patients.

Website quality factors influencing online shopping : a South African perspective

Since the development of the Internet, the amount of individuals and organisations making use of the World Wide Web (or Web) has grown significantly, and it is likely to continue increasing as the world continues to become intertwined. With the Internet, users are able to conduct various activities online, one being online shopping which has changed the retailing sector. Online shoppers are able to purchase goods and services over the Web in the comfort of their own homes without having to set foot into a physical store. Due to the fact that greater numbers of South African consumers are becoming accustomed to online shopping and the number of online retailers is growing, there is a need to determine which quality factors of websites influence these consumers when shopping online, which is the primary purpose of this study. A broad and in-depth literature review was provided on online shopping as well as the website quality factors influencing online shopping. An empirical study was conducted, where the data were collected from South Africans who met the requirements by means of an Internet-based self-administered questionnaire. The study followed a quantitative approach in order to satisfy the research objectives of the study. Based on the research results, it was found that all system, information and service quality factors influence respondents when shopping online and therefore need to be taken into consideration by online retailers when developing shopping sites. / Business Management / M.
