Currently, there is a change in behavior and attitude of customers who come from a passive position to a connected and informed manner, requiring an adaptation of organizations to this new attitude of customers. Organizations of several areas aim to provide unique experiences to their customers and thereby achieve a more effective relationship with stakeholders resulting in mutual benefits. With the growing positioning of the sports industry and the adequacy of physical activity practices to the modern world, the gyms market is growing, turning an interesting object of study. The aim was to analyze how the practices of existing experience and relationships in the value cocreation approaches and theory of stakeholders were present in gyms and how they impact the management of these organizations. The methodology applied was the multiple cases study in the gyms, for data collection, we used sources of evidence for the triangulation of data as proposed by Yin (2010): observation, document analysis and scripts for semi-structured interviews. The results showed that teachers are important stakeholders for the development of the relationship and providers of memorable experiences to the other stakeholders. It is concluded that the gyms practice the value cocreation partially with their stakeholders and unconsciously because they have no knowledge of theory to practice. / A cocriação de valor propõe as organizações que tirem o seu foco do produto e serviço dando espaço ao cliente. Atualmente, nota-se uma mudança no comportamento e atitude dos clientes, que passam de uma postura passiva para uma maneira conectada e informada, exigindo uma adaptação das organizações a essa nova postura dos clientes. Organizações de diversas áreas de atuação buscam proporcionar aos clientes experiências únicas e com isso obter um relacionamento mais eficaz com os stakeholders resultando em benefícios mútuos. Com o posicionamento crescente da indústria esportiva e a adequação das práticas de atividades físicas ao mundo moderno, o mercado de academias de ginástica é crescente, destacando-se como um objeto de estudo interessante. O objetivo foi analisar como as práticas da experiência e do relacionamento existentes nas abordagens da cocriação de valor e na teoria dos stakeholders se fizeram presentes nas academias de ginástica e como impactam na gestão dessas organizações. Como metodologia aplicou-se o estudo de casos múltiplos nas academias de ginástica, para a coleta dos dados, utilizou-se fontes de evidências para a triangulação de dados como proposto por Yin (2010): Observação, análise de documentos e roteiros de entrevistas semi-estruturada. Os resultados mostraram que os professores são stakeholders importantes para o desenvolvimento do relacionamento e para proporcionar experiências memoráveis aos demais stakeholders. Conclui-se que as academias de ginástica estudada praticam a cocriação de valor parcialmente com seus interessados envolvidos e de maneira inconsciente, pois não possuem conhecimento da teoria para a prática.

Sexuella trakasserier, mobbning och kränkningar vid Luleå tekniska universitet : En kvantitativ sekundäranalys av förekomst och skillnader i utsatthet med perspektiv på makt i akademin

Denna studie utforskar sexuella trakasserier, mobbning och kränkningar i akademisk miljö. På uppdrag av Luleå tekniska universitet har en sekundäranalys av data från en nationell prevalens­studie genomförts i syfte att beskriva före­komsten av kränk­ningar inom lärosätet samt analysera skillnader i utsatthet. För att synliggöra hur maktordningar i akademin är närvar­ande i de kränk­ningar som sker har skillnader i utsatthet under­sökts utifrån kön, ålder samt de olika organisa­toriska positioner som anställda, doktorander och stu­denter har inom lärosätet. I syfte att sätta resultaten i en kontext har också jämförelser gjorts med aggregerade data för högskole­sektorn. Särskilt fokus har lagts på att kartlägga före­komsten av sexuella trakass­erier, mobb­­­ning och andra former av kränkande behandling men stud­ien utforskar därtill en samlad teo­retisk förstå­else av kränk­ningar för att belysa mångfalden och komplexiteten i utsattheten. Resultaten visar att Luleå tekniska universitet i stort följer trenden för högskolesektorn som helhet; totalt 4 procent vid lärosätet upp­ger att de utsatts för sexuella trakasserier och totalt 8 pro­cent uppger att de utsatts för mobbning. Ungefär dubbelt så många uppger att de har varit åskådare, det vill säga fått kännedom om andra som utsatts. De närmre analyser som gjorts av vilken typ av kränkningar som sker visar att de beteenden som är mest utbredda inom läro­sätet kan beskrivas som mer subtila och normal­iserade former av kränkningar. Resul­taten visar också att det finns betydande skillnader i utsatt­het. De övergr­ip­­ande trenderna indikerar att kvinnor, yngre ålders­grupper och studenter rapp­orterar högre utsatt­het för sexuella trakasserier medan främst kvinnor, äldre ålders­grupper och anställ­da rapp­orterar att de utsatts för mobbning. Sam­tidigt finns några trendbrytande resultat som indi­ker­ar att män i högre utsträckning utsätts för vissa beteenden som kan förknippas med en masku­lin och kränkande jargong. Dessa kunskapsbidrag har flera implikationer för ett vidare förändringsarbete inom läro­sätet. Bland annat finns behov av att tillämpa ett brett arbets- och studiemiljö­arbete som kan adressera även de subtila och mer var­dagliga former av kränkningar som är mest utbredda. Arb­ets- och studie­miljö­­arbetet bör dessutom utformas med grund i kunskap om vilka grupper som är särskilt ut­satta; kvinnors situ­ation bör beaktas särskilt men även insatser för att före­bygga sexuella traka­sserier bland yngre och stu­denter samt mobbning bland äldre och anställda bör vara en målsätt­ning. Avslut­ningsvis pekar studien på att det fortsatt finns kun­skaps­luckor som behöver utforsk­as vidare, bland annat krävs upprepade mätningar för att avgöra vilken påverkan covid-19-pandemin haft på utsattheten samt ytterligare studier kring doktoranders situation inom lärosätet. / This study explores sexual harassment, bullying and violations in academic environment. On behalf of Luleå University of Technology, a secondary analysis of data from a national preva­lence study has been conducted in an aim to describe the incidence of violations within the uni­­versity and to analyse differences in exposure. To shed light on how power relations within the Aca­demy are present in violations, differences in exposure have been examined based on gender, age and the different organi­za­tion­­al positions of employees, doctor­al students and other stud­ents. In an aim to contextualize the results, comparisons have also been made with aggre­gated data for the higher education sector. Primarily, focus has been to examine the incidence of sexual harass­ment, bullying and other vio­lations, but the study also explores an interweaved theoretical under­standing of violations to emphasize the diversity and complexity of abuse. Results show that Luleå University of Technology largely follows the trend for the higher education sector as a whole; a total of 4 percent state that they have been subjected to sexual harassment and a total of 8 percent state that they have been subjected to bullying. About twice as many reports being bystanders. The closer analysis made concer­ning the type of violations that occur show that behav­iours that are most widespread within the university can be described as more subtle and everyday-like violations. Furthermore, results show that there are signi­ficant differ­ences in who is subjected to violations. The overall trends indi­cate that women, younger age groups and students report higher exposure to sexual harassment, while mainly women, older age groups and employees report being subjected to bullying. However, there are also some trend-breaking results, indicating that men are more exposed to certain behaviours that can be associated with a masculine and offensive jargon. These knowledge contributions have several implications for further development work within Luleå University of Technology. Among other things, there is a need to apply a broad app­roach to improvements of the work and study environment that can address also the subtle and more everyday-like forms of violations that are most widespread. Actions should also be based on an aware­ness of which groups are particularly vulnerable; the situation of women should be given special con­sider­ation, but eff­orts to prevent sexual harassment among young people and stud­ents and bullying among older age groups and employees should also be an objective. Finally, the study indicates that there are still considerable knowledge gaps that need to be explored further, including repeated measurements to determine the impact of the covid-19 pandemic as well as further studies on doctoral students' situation within the university.

Work-Life Balance of Tenured and Tenure-Track Women Engineering Professors

Balancing the needs of family with career ambitions is often challenging for women who pursue science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) careers, particularly in academia. In these male-dominated workplaces, few incentives exist for women who decide to manage both work and family. In this basic qualitative research study, a modified approach combining in-depth interviewing with life-history interviewing was used to examine the work-life balance experiences of 12 tenured and tenure-track women engineering faculty who have children. The research question addressed participants' perceptions of engineering academia and experiences regarding family formation, child-raising, and the tenure process. Data were analyzed using the constant comparison method. The conceptual lens consisted of identity formation, feminine ethic of care, procedural knowing, and social learning. Four themes or key findings surfaced from this study: Participants experienced gender stereotyping in engineering academia, participants recognized overlap between the tenure and biological clocks, participants expressed a default arrangement in assuming the burden of childcare, and participants revealed that work-life balance is a false concept. The most significant finding was that the notion of work-life balance was inconsistent with participants' experiences with managing childcare and career; they described their experiences to be more about work-life integration. Implications for positive social change include improving gender diversity and the representation of women in engineering academia. Senior leaders and administrators at institutions of higher education may use study findings, for instance, to undertake program reform to recruit more women into engineering academia.

Exploring Perceptions of the Transition From Health Science Practitioner to Academic

Transitioning from a clinical practitioner to an educator in the health sciences is a difficult task for many professionals. Although, clinically, these individuals have achieved a level of expertise, they are not necessarily trained to teach in a classroom setting and may find it difficult to transition into their role as novice. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to examine faculty members' preparedness during their transition to academia and their perceptions of the need for more support during the first 5 years of teaching. Vygotsky's and Dewey's theories of social constructivism and Knowles's assumptions of adult learning provided the framework for this research. The main research question focused on exploring perceptions about instructional preparedness and support for university educators, at a university in Detroit, Michigan, in health science fields. The data sources were interviews and observations from 9 health science faculty members. Interviews were coded based on perceptive categories such as experiences, knowledge, and opinions, whereas observations were coded using recurrent patterns of identified standards of university teaching based on teaching preparedness. Results showed 5 areas where the participants felt they needed more support: peer mentoring, administration support, institutional support, interaction with students, and instructional methodology technology training. Findings may provide insight to university administrators on strategies to provide more effective professional development to health science educators. Potential implications for positive social change include increased job satisfaction and retention for professionals who become health science educators.

Diante desse desafio, cadetes, professores e instrutores da AMAN foram entrevistados, questionários de opinião foram aplicados e analisados, juntamente com os documentos oficiais da AMAN e do Exército. O texto fornece ricos dados, relatos e informações que evidenciam as mudanças ocorridas no processo de socialização dos cadetes nos últimos trinta anos, com destaque para as influências advindas de fora da instituição, o mapeamento do perfil social atual dos cadetes, o papel dos professores e instrutores, a rotina dos cadetes, suas linguagens e vivências na caserna. Por fim, o processo de socialização praticado na AMAN é brevemente comparado com o experimentado na Academia Real Militar de Sandhurst, que forma os cadetes para o Exército do Reino Unido. / [en] The basic question of the research is to reveal how the socialization of the cadets of AMAN is processed today and how the uniform adheres to the soul of these military personnel. Faced with this challenge, AMAN cadets, teachers and instructors were interviewed, opinion questionnaires were applied and analyzed, along with official AMAN and Army documents. The text provides rich data, reports and information that show the changes that have occurred in the cadet socialization process in the last thirty years, with emphasis on influences from outside the institution, the mapping of cadets current social profile, the role of teachers and instructors, the routine of the cadets, their languages and experiences in the barracks. Finally, the process of socialization practiced in AMAN is briefly compared to that experienced at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, which forms the cadets for the UK Army.

La representación de lo aimara en el tratamiento lexicográfico de los aimarismos

La presente investigación estudia las representaciones sobre el pueblo aimara en los aimarismos incluidos en la producción lexicográfica de la Academia, es decir, en los diccionarios de la Real Academia Española, la Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española y la Academia Peruana de la Lengua. Para la explicación de los datos, se usa el enfoque del Análisis Crítico del Discurso y, específicamente, el Análisis Crítico del Discurso Lexicográfico. En términos metodológicos, se analizan la macroestructura y microestructura de los datos contenidos en el Diccionario de la lengua española (DLE), en el Diccionario de americanismos (DA) y en el Diccionario de peruanismos (DP). La tesis concluye que las formas de representación del pueblo aimara responden a tres ideologías específicas: eurocentrismo, panhispanismo y peruanidad. / The present research studies the representations of the Aymara people in the Aimarismos included in the lexicographic production of the Academia, that is, in the dictionaries of the Real Academia Española, the Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española and the Academia Peruana de la Lengua. For the explanation of the data, the approach of Critical Discourse Analysis and, specifically, the Critical Analysis of Lexicographic Discourse is used. In methodological terms, the macrostructure and microstructure of the data contained in the Diccionario de la lengua española (DLE), in the Diccionario de americanismos (DA) and in the Diccionario de peruanismos (DP) are analyzed. The thesis concludes that the forms of representation of the Aymara people respond to three specific ideologies: Eurocentrism, pan-Hispanicism and Peruanidad.

En un sistema educativo basado en competencias, ¿cuál es la mejor manera de garantizar que los alumnos desarrollen una competencia actitudinal como la empatía? Este trabajo demuestra que recurrir al trabajo en grupo y a la evaluación por pares son estrategias eficaces para promover el desarrollo de dicha competencia entre los alumnos. Como se demostró en esta investigación, los profesores están en mejor situación para asignar a los estudiantes a grupos utilizando un conjunto de características previamente definidas. Además, los miembros del grupo asumieron funciones y responsabilidades para completar las tareas asignadas, las mismas que los profesores estructuraron cuidadosamente para fomentar la cooperación y la colaboración de tal forma que se ejercitara la empatía cognitiva y afectiva. Por último, dada la naturaleza de la competencia estudiada, los estudiantes estaban en mejor posición que los profesores para evaluar el logro de la misma; por ello, se utilizó una herramienta de evaluación entre pares. / In a competency-based education system, what is the best way to ensure students develop an attitude competency like empathy? This paper shows that resorting to group work and peer assessment are effective strategies to entice students to develop such competency. As demonstrated in this research, professors should assign students to groups by using a set of previously defined features. Further, group members took on roles and responsibilities to complete the tasks assigned. Tasks were carefully structured by professors to foster cooperation and collaboration so as to practice empathy, both cognitive and affective. Finally, given the nature of the competency studied, students were in a better position than professors to assess its achievement; hence, a peer assessment tool was used.

Esta pesquisa de mestrado se situa nos estudos de inter-relação do design com a arquitetura, enfocando os equipamentos denominados Academia da Primeira Idade, entendidos como um mobiliário urbano para o público infantil presente e implantado no espaço livre público das áreas de playground, em locais levantados na atualidade na cidade de São Paulo, onde foram realizadas pesquisas de campo com abordagem qualitativa. Com o objetivo de levantar dados sobre como um mobiliário urbano é percebido e entendido por seu público alvo, procurou-se pela visão das crianças usuárias e seus acompanhantes a fim de obter entendimento e diretrizes sobre o espaço e equipamentos para brincar e se exercitar. Foram utilizadas várias ferramentas de pesquisa para captação de dados como: observação não participante, entrevista com acompanhantes no local de uso, storytelling com crianças, além de levantamentos nos órgãos públicos gestores e com especialistas, com enfoque no uso e apropriação pelos seus usuários, verificando aspectos formais, comportamentais e de interação social. Por meio da triangulação de dados foi possível levantar os pontos relevantes na opinião dos stakeholders, agentes envolvidos, gerando conhecimentos para aprimoramento dos espaços e equipamentos existentes, bem como para novos projetos afins. Como principais achados podem ser destacados pontos positivos e negativos citados sobre os equipamentos elencados além de aspectos como proporcionar diversão com segurança, conservação, interação com outras crianças, e outros relacionados às características físicas e de manutenção de espaços bem cuidados, com piso adequado, e dotados de mobiliário complementar, sempre presentes nas narrativas dos pesquisados quanto as suas necessidades e expectativas. Considerando a importância que o brincar tem na formação das crianças, e que experiências e vivências únicas o espaço público pode proporcionar, espera-se que estes dados, considerando a visão e opinião dos usuários, possam servir para melhorar a qualidade dos espaços e equipamentos públicos infantis. / This master\'s research is inserted in the studies of the inter-relation between design and architecture, focusing on what is called Kids Outdoor Fitness Equipment, understood as urban furniture aimed for children and implanted in the public space of playground areas, in places chosen presently in the city of São Paulo, where field research was undertaken with a qualitative approach. With the goal of raising data on how urban furniture is perceived and understood by its target audience, it has sought the point of view of child users and their escorts in order to obtain understanding and guidelines regarding the space and equipment to play and exercise in. Several research tools were used to gather the data, such as non-participant observation, interview with escorts at the site of usage, and storytelling with children, besides collecting data at public agencies and with specialists, with a focus on the use and appropriation by the users, verifying formal, behavioral and social interaction aspects. By means of triangulation of data, it was possible to raise the relevant aspects in the opinion of the stakeholders, the agents involved, generating knowledge for the improvement of the existing spaces and equipment, as well as for new related projects. As the main findings, we can highlight positive and negative features cited regarding the listed equipment, besides aspects such as affording entertainment with safety, conservation, and interaction with other children, as well as others related to the physical features and the maintenance of well cared-for spaces, with adequate flooring, and fitted with complementary furniture, always present in the narratives of the researched as far as their needs and expectations. Considering the importance of play in children\'s growth, and what unique experiences public space can provide, it is hoped that these data, considering the point of view and opinion of the users, may serve to improve the quality of spaces and public children\'s equipment.

Seleção de pacientes e recrutamento dos sujeitos da pesquisa: implicações éticas e jurídicas no âmbito das Instituições de Ensino Superior públicas - uma visão sob a ótica do Código de Defesa do Consumidor / Patient selection and recruitment of research subjects: ethical and legal implications in the context of the public higher education institutions - a view from the perspective of the Consumer Protection Code

Os sujeitos da pesquisa, em razão de seu estado de vulnerabilidade, reclamam por cuidados éticos e jurídicos. Esta tutela deve anteceder ao status em que o sujeito da pesquisa ainda não está caracterizado como tal, ou seja, quando, como paciente, participa de seleções para integrar experimentos, no caso, promovidos por Instituições de Ensino Superior públicas (IES). No aspecto jurídico, pacientes, sujeitos da pesquisa e comunidade científica foram colocados sob a égide do Código de Defesa do Consumidor a fim de se apurar a tutela desse diploma legal sobre referidas figuras. Em face dessa abordagem ética e jurídica, este estudo teve como objetivo, por meio de uma revista da literatura, desenvolver uma análise crítica sobre a formatação atual utilizada pelas IES pública para recrutamento de sujeitos da pesquisa, através de seus pacientes pré-concebidos; mensurar a importância da formalização de edital pela IES pública nesse contexto de recrutamento. Analisar, ainda, a dicotomia jurídica desenvolvida em torno do Código de Defesa do Consumidor pertinente ao paciente atendido pela IES Pública, por intermédio do SUS e o paciente atendido pela IES privada não submetido ao SUS. Por fim, conferir sob a ótica do Código de Defesa do Consumidor a responsabilidade civil da comunidade científica em decorrência de danos causados ao sujeito da pesquisa. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório e descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa desenvolvida a partir de pesquisas em material existente na literatura nacional e internacional, pertinente à pesquisa envolvendo seres humanos, a sua forma de recrutamento e a responsabilidade civil suscitada em face dos sistemas de saúde público e privado e, não menos, sobre a relação jurídica desenvolvida entre sujeito da pesquisa e comunidade científica. Especificamente, a fundamentação teórica se deu sobre a doutrina da bioética, do biodireito e da ordem jurisdicional, com fomento da legislação brasileira. Foram utilizadas as bases de dados Pubmed, Scielo, Lilacs, Google Acadêmico, Google e Tribunais de Justiça, com a combinação dos seguintes descritores: seleção de pacientes, sujeitos da pesquisa, defesa do consumidor, ética em pesquisa e academia e institutos. Considera-se, ao final, que na IES pública o recrutamento de sujeitos da pesquisa não deve configurar coerção tácita, sendo superlativa a valoração de conceitos éticos intrínsecos à dignidade humana, restando-lhe, ainda a observância de princípios constitucionais referente à administração pública. Nesse âmbito público, a necessidade de edital é requisito formalístico, imperioso para recrutamento de sujeito da pesquisa. Tanto o sistema público de saúde, promovido pela IES pública, como o sistema privado de saúde, promovido pela IES privada, estão sob a tutela do Código de Defesa do Consumidor; ainda devendo ficar sob o pálio deste diploma legal a relação jurídica desenvolvida entre sujeito da pesquisa e comunidade científica. / Human research subjects, due to their vulnerability status, claim to ethical and legal care. This protection must precede the status in which the research subject is not characterized as such, that is when, as a patient, attends selections to integrate experiments in the case, promoted by Public Higher Education Institutions (HEI). In the legal aspect, patients, research subjects and scientific community were placed under the aegis of the Consumer Protection Code in order to establish the tutelage of this statute on those figures. Faced with this ethical and legal approach, this study aimed, through a literature review, develop a critical analysis of the current format used by public HEIs to the recruitment of research subjects, through their predesigned patients; measure the importance of the announcement of the formal public HEIs in this recruitment context. Also, analyze the legal dichotomy developed around the Consumer Protection Code relevant to patients attended by public HEIs, through the Brazilian Public System of Health (BSH) and the patient treated by the private institution not subjected to the BSH. Finally, check, from the perspective of the Consumer Protection Code, the liability of the scientific community due to damages caused to the research subject. This is an exploratory and descriptive study with qualitative approach, developed from research into existing material in national and international literature, relevant to researches involving human beings, their form of recruitment and liability raised in the face of public and private system of health and, not least, on the legal relationship developed between the research subject and the scientific community. Specifically, the theoretical foundation took over the doctrine of bioethics, the bio law and court order, fostering by the Brazilian law. Databases used were Pubmed, Scielo, Lilacs, Google Scholar, Google and Courts of Justice, with the combination of the following descriptors: Patient Selection, Research Subjects, Consumer Advocacy, Ethics, Research and Academies and Institutes. In the end, is considered that in the public HEI, the research subject recruitment should not configure tacit coercion, being superlative the valuation of intrinsic ethical concepts of human dignity, leaving him, yet compliance with constitutional principles relating to public administration. In this public sphere, the need for notice is formalistic requirement imperative for the recruitment of research subjects. Both systems of health, as public promoted by public HEIs, as the private promoted by the private HEIs are under the authority of the Consumer Protection Code; should still be under the canopy of this instrument the legal status developed between the research subject and the scientific community.
