Design of an Assembly System at AERCRETE INDUSTRIES

Hansson Tengberg, Henrik, Adlerborn, Andreas January 2009 (has links)
The forming of an assembly system is a complex task, which should be considered as never ending. In order to successfully plan and implement an assembly system it is of vital importance that the obstacles and preconditions that have an impact on the system are identified and evaluated. This together with the necessary support activities and the attributes of the product to be assembled constitutes the starting point for the forming of the assembly system. The aim of this thesis is to link the theoretical findings with the issues stated above, and through this explain a best practice approach when forming the assembly system. The theoretical work aims at describing the nature and activities within assembly and manufacturing systems and explains these in three different levels of strategies divided into Manufacturing strategies, Layout, material flow and design strategies and finally Logistic, material handling and quality strategies. Then the obstacles and preconditions found are discussed and evaluated which set the basis for the forming of the assembly system and by linking these with the relevant theory, conceptual design proposals for the assembly system and the Logistic support system are formed. These are then evaluated and finally a proposal for the detailed layout of the assembly system is given. This proposal is then to be used as a guideline for the company Aercrete when forming their assembly system.

Kartläggning av en svensk flygplats miljöledningssystem / Environmental system analysis at a Swedish airport

Grundström, Henrik, Nordberg, Jonas January 2011 (has links)
This report was written as a part of the bachelor program, Industrial Organization and Economics, focusing on logistics and management, at the School of Engineering in Jonkoping.  The report was written on behalf of Skövde Airport Company, which is a municipally owned airport company.  Skövde Airport is located within a few miles outside the city of Skövde, Sweden.   The airport serves mainly cargo planes but occasionally serves smaller passenger flights as well.  Today, companies like Kinnarps AB and Volvo Powertrain, are their biggest customers.  The airport also includes a fire station service and offices for these larger customers.   The purpose of this study is to provide an assessment of Skövde Airport’s surrounding issues. Our goal is to provide suggestions as to what the airport can implement as well as continue working on to improve the airport environment.  Therefore the study also examines other options in terms of ways to prepare to work with the environment; these systems are called “Environment Management Systems (EMS).”  Consequently, the study has taken parts of these EMS: s to identify and describe what parts are most critical from an environmental perspective.   The report includes a critical examination of the airport and explanation on how the airport works with the environment. The investigation portion of this thesis presents our mapping of the Skövde Airport Company’s current EMS.  The analysis describes everyday business activities and how these everyday activities are impacting the environment. Finally, the report concludes our reflection of the outcome of implementing these suggestions we have presented.   During this process the study found a number of deficiencies at Skövde airport. Today Skövde airport is missing vital information and documentation on its activities and the EMS. The airport currently holds a diploma for their EMS, but according to this study it’s missing vital information and documentation. Skövde airport is a complex organization to describe and even today there are many different opinions and views about its function and business.   The result of this study is therefore based on a document study. During the project time information had been collected from documentation, visits at the airport, interviews and communication with employees.  The result is presented in the final chapter in the form of proposals and recommendations to Skövde Airport.

Streamlining the invisible value chain : - reduction of losses within administrative processes: a case study / Effektivisering av den osynliga värdekedjan : - reducering av förluster inom administrativa processer: en fallstudie

Davidsson, Sara, Gustafsson, Viktor January 2011 (has links)
Continuous improvement of various processes within a company is a necessity to remain competitive on the market. There are many different improvement methodologies to streamline work routines; however the different methodologies do not sufficiently embrace administrative processes or the employee motivation regarding changes. The purpose of this thesis has been to develop a model for streamlining administrative processes, while maintaining the employee motivation during the improvement projects implementation phases. The model has been developed theoretically through literature reviews including different improvement methodologies, such as Lean, TQM, Six Sigma, 5S, ISO 9000 and related subjects, while incorporating perspectives of the relations between quality, production and economy. Besides the aspect of continuous improvement, the methodology of Change management has permeated the model development and model outcome. The developed model for improving administrative processes should over time lead to shorten lead-times and streamlined high quality information flows. The first phases in the model have been implemented at Electrolux Laundry Systems providing the company a solid foundation for further implementation of the rest of the model. The results include several highlighted areas, which shall be further reviewed and improved to streamline the current routines at Electrolux Laundry Systems.

Growth made simple : How to grow a small company into a large corporation

Rutgersson, Christoffer, Uddenberg, Anders January 2010 (has links)
This study is about rapid growth in SMEs from an entrepreneur’s or manager’s perspective and it aim to find practices in order to enable and drive rapid growth. The purpose of this thesis is to understand how owner-led small businesses can be managed in order to maximize the profitable long term growth of the company. In order to understand this we have had a pragmatic perspective and have attempted to find practices that drive and enable fast growth. The study consists of an extensive literature study on the subject and five case studies of Swedish rapid growth companies. Each case study consisted of gathering secondary data and conducting 1-4 interviews at each company with Entrepreneurs, CEOs, CFOs and Sales managers. The result from the literature study and the case studies is a model for growth that is shown below. The model consists of eight different areas that are important to drive or enable growth in companies.  Each area in the model was identified as a driver, enabler or blocker of growth for each case study.   The conclusions from this thesis are five propositions regarding rapid growth that is listed below. ü  Proposition 1: All the areas in our analysis model can either be a blocker, an enabler or a driver of growth. ü  Proposition 2: It is possible to deliberately transform an area from a blocker, or enabler, into a driver of growth. ü  Proposition 3: It is important to make the business scalable so no area becomes a blocker of growth. ü  Proposition 4: The three areas, time monopoly, sales, and leadership could be considered as primary drivers for growth. ü  Proposition 5: The two areas culture and expansion could be considered as primary enablers of growth. The findings from this study are highly valuable for managers or entrepreneurs that want to increase growth of their companies.
