Communication en tant que prédestination et authenticité d'une personne dans l'oeuvre de Valentin Raspoutine et Alexandre Vampilov / Communication as predestination and feature of an artistic personality in Valentin Rasputin and Aleksandr Vampilov's creative work

Yazeva, Alexandra 18 October 2013 (has links)
Valentin Rasputin (born 17 March 1937) and Aleksandr Vampilov (19 August1937-17 August 1972) are the two authors whose creative work is of particular interest to the contemporary literary criticism. The emotional and philosophical penetration into «the Other’s nature» as well as the aspiration for its aesthetic recreation are quite typical of the both artists. The role of artistic anthropology in the two creators’ aesthetics still needs its interpretation and is open to research. The given thesis proves that it’s the communicative space of Rasputin and Vampilov’s works that contains the vectors of the artistic personality’s predestination and feature. The study reveals an aim of the unique personality’s artistic existence, the existence of the narratator, the personage and the narrator, in the pieces of art created by the writer and the playwright.

Walker, Emily 28 August 2015 (has links)
In this study, I explore four representations of the Devil as a fallen angel in nineteenth century France in order to better understand the way in which the artists at this time used the symbol of the Devil to express their viewpoints on the various social, political and cultural changes in France. In the first chapter, I provide a survey of the artistic development of the Devil, from his angelic roots in the Old Testament to his near disappearance during the Enlightenment. I examine the semantic difficulties when discussing the Devil, as well as the current literature on his philosophical, theological and cultural significance. The second chapter is dedicated to an in-depth analysis of the four works in which I situate the image within the artist’s larger body of work and then examine the physical representation of the Devil, the landscape in which he is found and the transitory moment of the fall depicted. In the third chapter I provide a historical context for these representations and demonstrate the way in which they reflect the political and cultural agitation in France at the time due to the multiple revolutions, changes in governing structure and advances in science and technology. Through this exploration of these four representations, I propose that the Devil provides unique insight as to the ongoing artistic conceptualisation and perceptions of the state of humanity in an increasingly modern world. / Graduate / walkerem@uvic.ca

In exoticis historiis acutissimus. / In exoticis historiis acutissimus. Ancient East in the universal chronicles of the twelfth century.

Toro Vial, Miguel José de 19 December 2014 (has links)
During the "Renaissance of the 12th century" there was a flourishing of historical writing in Latin Europe. One the genres where this is most noticeable is in the universal chronicles. In them, the chroniclers outline the history of the world from Creation until their own period. Some of them are particularly rich in ancient history and they provide a lot of information of the ancient Orient. Why did monks secluded in their monasteries take interest on a history so far removed from them in time and space? This study considers two great sections of ancient oriental history as it was understood in the twelfth century: the empires surrounding the city of Babylon and the military deeds of Alexander the Great in Asia. Analyzing the treatment that the universal chronicles give them we can appreciate that the authors put these histories at the service of the problems of their own time, being guided increasingly by interests close to the secular world. At the same time they used methods of historiography, which significantly differentiated their works from biblical commentary and the "romances of antiquity".

O conceito de nous produtivo em Aristóteles / The concept of productive nous in Aristotle

Fernanda de Araujo Izidório 26 October 2017 (has links)
The amount of secondary literature on the Aristotelian concept of productive nous is proportional to the briefness and obscurity of its presentation in the fifth chapter of the Book Three of the De Anima. This thesis aims to investigate the reasons why this text offers a fertile ground for the most varied interpretations. Therefore, this text begins with an analytical commentary on DA III 4-5, highlighting the interpretative possibilities and the most significant textual variants of each passage. We searched for other passages of the Aristotelian corpus that could help us elucidate the content of these chapters, considering the options adopted by the main ancient commentators. After showing how the text equally accepts the most disparate readings, we tried to evidence how extra-textual elements, such as the philosophy and exegetical method predominant in the time of each interpreter can are present in the adopted options. For this, the work of Alexander of Aphrodisias was adopted as object of exposition and analysis, since its identification of the productive nous to the First Cause of Met. XII 7-9 is the most influential and polemical exegesis of this concept. His main arguments were presented and contrasted with the Aristotelian textual background, to highlight the characteristics of the Exegete\'s methods.

From the study of myth as an exemplar model, this dissertation represents an effort to understand the deification of Alexander the Great (336 – 323 BCE) as a process, and the legitimation of Seleucus Nicator as an update of these process’ themes. By appropriating some characteristics of Achilles, Heracles and Dionysus models, Alexander built his own model, whose basic message was: the reach of aretē, his divine sonship and double paternity, oracular visit and his subsequent deification. Seleucus reread this mythical heritage during the formation of one of the main political and territorial units of the Hellenistic period: the Seleucid Empire. The retelling of the myth by Alexander and Seleucus is comprehended as much as their own or as assigning posthumous narratives, as effective propaganda instrument and also as a religious phenomenon through which contact is established with the sacred.

Mirada em Histórias de Alexandre, de Graciliano Ramos

Oliveira, Amanda de Andrade 25 August 2017 (has links)
The following study aims to analyze the literary work Histórias de Alexandre, written by Graciliano Ramos, by demonstrating that behind the fantasious universe that emerges from Alexandre’s narrative stories, being Alexandre a character-narrator, we measure the speech that concludes the entire novelist’s composition, in other words, through the dissimulation of a less mild reality, affected by a fabulous speech, we have contact with the miserable reality lived by the northeastern population which marks the novelist’s writing, whose ultimate goal is a search for narrative fidelity. The comic content present in the narrative is remarkable, being the hilarity an unusual trait in the compositions of the alagoano, we will seek to understand what finality it provides in the general understanding of the composition. In the composition, initially published at 1944, we met the character Alexandre, the former representative of the northeastern agrarian oligarchy who saw his riches collapse before the capitalist economic system. Due to his new socio economic condition, he creates a compensative reality to him and his companions. Should be noted, in this approach, the figure of a storyteller as a form of cultural preservation, mainly if we think that, according to Walter Benjamin’s lesson, “we are becoming increasingly poorer at communicable experience” (1987, p. 198).

O presente trabalho pretende, por fim, atender à demanda por estudos que contemplem Histórias de Alexandre, demanda esta assinalada por diferentes estudiosos em diferentes momentos de nossa história literária, valorizando-o ao realçar suas qualidades literárias e suas singularidades e propondo alguns caminhos para continuidade desses estudos / Abstract: Ignored by the literary press to the time of its launch in 1945 and relegated to a secondary position behind the remainder of the work of Graciliano Ramos by critics and scholars of literature, Histórias de Alexandre has enjoyed great success among the reading public, since it has appeared, for decades, as the third title best sold among the publications of the alagoano author. The present work includes some hypotheses to explain the reasons for this, such as the fact that it was launched by a more effective publisher, the effect of the popularity of other books by the author such as Infância, which was published almost simultaneously, and the prejudice against childlike or 'folk' literature, which are the literary genres seemingly to exist within the book. This work also tries to point to the characteristics of Histórias de Alexandre as an original register inside the work of Graciliano, because at the same time that it is faithfull to the same propositions that support his entire literary work, it includes elements of the folktale and of the oral literature, which provide interesting materials to assist in the analysis for the writing method of the author. While raising the issue of the use of a narrator-character whose ambiguities determine different ways of reading, the book also suggests discussions about the figure of the narrator in Graciliano's writing, including his trajectory as a short story writer and ways of presenting different framings for his work from the fiction/confession binomial, as consecrated by Antônio Cândido. The present work also intends to encourage the study of Histórias de Alexandre, as different scholars at different moments of our literary history have demanded, valuing it while highlighting its literary qualities and their singularities and proposing some suggestions for ways in which such studies could continue / Mestrado / Teoria e Critica Literaria / Mestre em Teoria e História Literária
