The effect of back stage information in services advertisements on consumers' services intangibility and perceived riskCheng, Kai-da 30 July 2007 (has links)
This study examines whether back stage information in services advertisements would significantly influence intangibility of services and consumers¡¦ perceived risk by experimental design, and whether ¡§back stage information-perceived risk¡¨ relation would mediated by intangibility. The researcher provides back stage information by print advertisements. The presentation of back stage information, the types of services, and the attributes of services are considered and included in research design to explore their roles in ¡§back stage information-intangibility-perceived risk¡¨ relation.
The result shows that intangibility of services and consumers¡¦ perceived risk are significantly lower after consumers reading advertisements with back stage information contrast with those without back stage information. Intangibility has partial mediating effect on ¡§back stage information-perceived risk¡¨ relation. Though, presenting back stage information simultaneously by picture and text has a slightly better effect than by text alone, however, the difference is not significant. The type and attribute of services have no moderation on ¡§back stage information-perceived risk¡¨ and ¡§intangibility-perceived risk¡¨ relations respectively.

Hur ser jag ut? : En studie om hur svenska kvinnor framställer sig på Twitter / How do I look? : A study of how Swedish women present themselves on TwitterLindholm, Sofia, Sätherberg, Jessica January 2011 (has links)

A research on the relationship between visualized service backstage and consumer¡¦s perceived value in service encounter.Hsieh, Ming-Pei 20 June 2006 (has links)
Grove and Fisk ¡]1983¡^ had used the noun and idea of drama performance in the theater to compare the offering of service, such attendants as known as performer, customers as known as audience, and separate the front and back stage of service encounter clearly. At the same time, they offer the structure to easily understand the process of the wholly service contact and to help estimate the influence of each important link of service contact. So, this research focused on ¡§perceived value¡¨ of customer experiences through which, the ¡§visualized service backstage¡¨ in the service contact promotes the interaction of consumers and suppliers. Moreover, this study used the involvement of the back stage information and attention of attendants¡¦ appearance to moderate consumer experiences.
The results showed that ¡§visualized service backstage¡¨ has positive influence on ¡§perceived value¡¨ with different levels, and customers have more consciousness on ¡§experience value¡¨. Actually the service with ¡§visualized service backstage¡¨ can really improve customers¡¦ perceived value. It not only can strengthen consumers¡¦ experience value, but also promote other different values of consumers. In fact, if service providers can use this advantage to create more perfect service performance by which the front stage and the back stage fully support. And it could bring to people more different service value than others. In addition, through the analysis of this study and real practices, it can help the service providers understand which value is the key factor to be attention for offering visualized service backstage.

Designing the stage : A case study of privacy and interaction in an academic workplacePettersson, Martina January 2021 (has links)
The built environment in academia is increasingly being used in a strategic way, and there is a current trend in the spatial design of academic workplaces towards the implementation of more flexible solutions. However, the heterogeneity of academic work creates a challenge for workplace design. Previous research has shown that researchers require places supporting both privacy and interaction, and there is a need to increase the understanding of how workplace design can tend to these needs. Therefore, the aim of this study was to increase the understanding of how the built environment in a modern university building affects the occupants’ work environment and possibilities to perform their work. Goffman’s dramaturgical framework was applied in a case study examining the research building Biomedicum at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. One go-along interview and seven semi-structured interviews were carried out and the data were analyzed through content analysis. Three themes named after Goffman’s concepts were identified: the Back stage, the Front stage, and The team. The results showed that while the participant found it easy to identify suitable places for work-related interactions, they had a harder time finding places that supported privacy. In the light of Goffman’s dramaturgy, the results indicated that while the front stage had been successfully planned and built into Biomedicum, there was a lack of a back stage area. The findings of the study showed the importance of including different types of back stage areas in the design of academic workplaces to facilitate both privacy and interaction. In the design of the back stage, architectural and psychological privacy, as well as proximity to team members were important spatial features to acknowledge.

Previous issue date: 2008-08-04 / Fundo Mackenzie de Pesquisa / This study is based on the assumption that art necessarily touches people and that everybody can have an aesthetic experience, regardless of previous knowledge about the universe of art. For the purpose of this work, we chose as corpus the 27th Bienal de São Paulo and its back stage professionals, a term that here encompasses security guards/audience ushers, cleaning personnel and assemblers of the event. There is always an aesthetic experience when someone deeply analyzes a piece of art. This work focus on the historical panorama of art shows and concentrates on the 27th Bienal de São Paulo, that had as theme How to Live Together. The concept the curators used was extracted from lectures and seminars given in the seventies of the last century by the French semiotician Roland Barthes. One finding of the work was that the professionals involved at the back stage of Bienal did not see themselves as belonging to the universe where they were inserted at the moment. A reason for this fact is that the own institution does not take into consideration those professionals as a target audience of the event, a wish that was manifested in the spoken statements. We can also observe that, along the show, the back stage professionals created own specific manners of speaking, or used the ones assimilated from other people, to describe the works of art.

Being a "container" for the patient : A study how hospital social workers feel they are affected by the patient-careEriksson, Oskar, Holmstedt, Markus January 2015 (has links)
Hospital social workers have patients suffering from a range of symptoms, amongst these are depression, distress or other disorders caused by psychosocial factors, such as stress, a life crisis or alcohol. In this study the question was asked what effects the patient-care can have for the hospital social worker. The purpose of this research study was to examine from the perspective of emotion theory, how hospital social workers felt they were affected by the patient-care. Our research questions were what effects the hospital social workers see that the patient-care have for themselves, and how the hospital social workers deal with what emerges from the patient-care. Earlier research has shown that other occupational groups, such as nurses and therapists in general, are affected by harbouring what arises in the patient-care. Four interviews with hospital social workers conducted about their thoughts and feelings on the effects of the job. The result has been analyzed with Hochschild’s notion of emotional labour and Goffman’s concepts front stage and back stage. The results show that the job does affect the worker. The hospital workers harbour thoughts and feelings that emerge in the patient-care on the front stage, until they are able to deal with it in different regions on the back stage through colleges, guidance and by themselves. All of our interviewed hospital social workers deemed that they had become less social due to the nature of the patient care. In addition they also thought that it had created a need of seclusion and self-reflection.

The emergence and establishment of social media in society have increased individuals' daily use. As a result, user behaviors have changed, and social media platforms allow individuals to advance their careers. One platform used to present a professional identity is the social networking platform LinkedIn. However, it has appeared to be more difficult for university students to present a professional identity on the platform, which affects the possibility of being discovered by recruiters. Therefore, the study aims to investigate and describe the meeting between university students and recruiters on LinkedIn in the pre-stage of a recruitment process. The purpose has been to frame the expected role-playing on the platform and answer the question: "What factors underlie university students' professional identity creation in the meeting with recruiters on LinkedIn?". For this reason, the study has applied a qualitative research strategy and conducted seven semi-structured interviews, four with university students and three with recruiters. In addition, the study applied a theoretical framework for identity creation. The purpose was to examine the factors that form the foundation of university students' professional identity creation in the meeting with recruiters on LinkedIn. The study identified and described four factors. The factors are the creation of front-stage presentation, uncertainty in the presentation, the idealized presentation, and the social norm. In addition, there are various perceptions between university students and recruiters of the professional presentation expected of university students, which affects the ideals, social norms, stigma, and the unknown audience on LinkedIn.

Inramningen av den digitala undervisningsmiljön på universitetsnivå under Covid-19 : En kvalitativ studie med studenter och lärare / The framework of the digital learning environment at university level during Covid-19 : A qualitative study with students and teachersGeidenmark, David, Widén, Henrik January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this study is to provide a deeper understanding of how frameworks of learning have shifted from a physical to a digital approach during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result of the pandemic, many societies have suffered substantial setbacks for instance the closing down of several institutions such as universities. Consequently, universities around the world adapted to a digital approach for teaching and learning, and, as a result, teachers and students were required to familiarise themselves with new digital techniques. The pandemic has forced a paradigm shift in how education is delivered, and, as this is unprecedented in terms of research, we were eager to learn how the affected individuals in the educational sector perceive these societal changes. The study is based on eight semi-structured interviews with five students and three teachers who are either studying or working at Swedish universities. The outcome shows that there is a fluctuation in how social interactions changes from informal everyday encounters to more formal appointments. We found that the new frames on digital learning have different structural and institutional frames where laws and regulations differ from traditional physical learning. “New Normal” was an interesting term that arose during the interviews, which relates to the aforementioned changes. Finally, we attempt to define this concept in terms of a post Covid-19 society.
