[en] THE ANTHOLOGICAL CONTACT BETWEEN HÉLIO OITICICA AND JACK SMITH: UNDERGROUND AND TROPICAL THINGS / [pt] O CONTATO ANTOLÓGICO ENTRE HÉLIO OITICICA E JACK SMITH: UNDERGROUND E TROPICAL THINGS

ANA GABRIELA DICKSTEIN ROIFFE 16 January 2019 (has links)
[en] This dissertation concerns the relationship between artists Hélio Oiticica and Jack Smith in the bustling atmosphere of 1970 s New York. Even though Smith is little know in Brazil, he was an important artist in New York s underground culture, often pointed as one of the forerunners of performance art and expanded cinema. During his first months in New York (1970-1978), Oiticica wrote to his friends about how perplexed he was at Smith and his work, comparing him to characters and manifestations that were part of his sphere, such as actor Mario Montez and the Teatro do Ridículo. Departing from the Brazilian artist s letters and Jack Smith s files, this research investigates how their relationship has developed in personal and professional terms. Rather than looking for points of similarity or difference, this dissertation aims to put the work of these artists in friction - from their holes, absences, apertures and gaps. In this sense, their meeting will be the starting point for the discussion both of questions in their own work and of the relationship each of them has established with archival practices, the expansion of exercises on the possibilities of gender and sexuality, as well as reflections and projects derived from their claims against conventional cinema. In addition to Oiticica s best known works, such as Cosmococa - program in progress (19730-1974) and the article Mario Montez, tropicamp (1971), this thesis will analyze some of Jack Smith`s works and documents, such as an unpublished script he wrote in Rio de Janeiro in 1966, called Carnaval in Lobsterland.

Hlavní vedoucí dětského tábora - pedagog a manažer / Main camp leader - a pedagogue and manager

Nová, Iveta January 2016 (has links)
The Master's Thesis focuses on pedagogical and managerial tasks of children camps' main leader. The aim is to define these tasks and to analyse the position's official formal characteristics - professional qualification and experience - for camps organized by bodies that are not leisure time educational centres. The assumption here is that mostly the head chiefs do not hold professional qualification as there is no legal obligation. The Theory uses comparative method to classify camps as leisure time educative activity. Further, the history and legal and practical conditions of the camps are described. Pedagogical and managerial tasks of the head chiefs are explained together with desirable competences. Possible ways of gaining the professional qualification are presented. In the Research part the above stated assumption was supposed to be confirmed or rejected through a questionnaire and additional guided interviews. 103 respondents of the research were head chiefs of children camps organized in 2016 in South Bohemian Region, Czech Republic. Results' analysis rejected the stated assumption. It was proved that a greater-than-expected number of the camps' head chiefs are professionally qualified. At least 50 % of the respondents have the necessary pedagogical qualification together with suitable...

L'encadrement normatif de la détention dans les camps de concentration nationaux-socialistes / The normative framework of concentration camp internment

Bertrand, Nicolas 05 July 2011 (has links)
The object of this thesis is to study the normative framework of concentration camp internment. The term ‘normative framework’ refers to the rules and procedures established and applied by the concentration camp administrations and which governed the internment of those prisoners in Nazi concentration camps. Our study is pragmatic. It is based primarily on the analysis of concentration camps’ administrative archives: the rules and procedures issued by central administrations concerning the internment of prisoners and their application, mainly at the Buchenwald camp. This approach demonstrates that the period of internment was not characteristically arbitrary. Rather, it occurred in accordance with a normative framework with specific characteristics. Despite formal imperfections due to their specific foundation in the Führer’s Will (Führerwille), concentration camp rules and procedures governed the inmate’s entire internment: contacts with the outside, punishment, forced labor and death. The participation of SS members, or employees of firms using detainee labor or even detainees themselves, was carried out in accordance with a normative framework. This explains in part why the various actors, believing their actions grounded in and justified by this pseudo-legal framework, took part in camp operations.

Virulence Bordetella pertussis perspektivou omics přístupů / Virulence of Bordetella pertussis from an Omics Perspective

Novák, Jakub January 2021 (has links)
The Gram-negative aerobic coccobacillus Bordetella pertussis is one of the few exclusively human pathogens and the main causative agent of the respiratory infectious disease called pertussis, or whooping cough. Despite global vaccination programs, pertussis remains an important public-health burden and still accounts for over 100,000 infant deaths and over a dozen of millions of whooping cough cases every year. Substantial effort is devoted to studies on the mechanisms of action of virulence factors of B. pertussis, but the biology of interactions of B. pertussis with its human host remains largely underexplored. Evolution, genetics and adaptation of B. pertussis to the complex environment of human nasopharynx and the mechanisms enabling B. pertussis to overcome host innate and adaptive mucosal immune defenses, remain poorly understood. In such situations, unbiased exploratory omics approaches represent valuable tools for uncovering of unknown aspects of host-pathogen interactions and open the path to detailed analysis of virulence-underlying processes by mechanistic studies. In this thesis, I am presenting the results of three omics projects on B. pertussis biology that involved high-throughput proteomics. In the inital phosphoprotemics project, we analyzed the kinase signaling pathways hijacked...

Sedimentary Factories and Ecosystem Change in the Triassic-Jurassic Boundary Interval : Insights from the Skåne Area (Southern Sweden) / Mikrobiella sedimentbildningar och ekosystemsförändring vid Trias-Juragränsen : Insikter från Skåne

Nesset Mattsson, Gustav January 2021 (has links)
The End-Triassic Extinction (ETE) has long remained one of the lesser known among the so-called “Big Five”. There exist several hypotheses regarding the probable cause of this extinction, which can mainly be divided into events of a decline in the rate of diversification in the late Triassic contra a sudden and significant extinction event. Primary amongst the sudden events is the one of outgassing and climate/environmental change induced by Central Atlantic Magmatic Province (CAMP) volcanism. This study aims to describe the ETE using fluvial, lacustrine, deltaic and marginal-marine microbial sedimentary structures (MS), carbonatized microbial mats (CMM) as well as wrinkle structures, microbially induced sedimentary structures (MISS) from the latest Triassic- earliest Jurassic (TJB: Triassic-Jurassic boundary interval, Rhaetian to Hettangian) of Skåne, Southern Sweden. The MISS in these sites show a high diversity of structures, indicating microbial communities with high diversity in an environment usually dominated by bioturbating invertebrates. We observed structures that include top-surface (“Elephant skin”) and subsurface (“Kinneyia”) structures, carbon-rich fossilized microbial mats, microbial sideritic concretions, sideritized microbial mats, stromatolite-like layers and oncoids. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) sampling also revealed structures related to the presence of both coccoidal and filamentous cyanobacteria. Overall, the diversity in observed structures indicate a thriving microbial community, with diversified and abundant ichnofossils or body fossils of possible bioturbators only observed in the early Rhaetian and younger Mid-Late Hettangian samples of deltaic or marginal-marine affinities. The lack of metazoan communities to such an extent indicates that the local environment could have reversed to a pre-Substrate Revolution state. The occurrence of abundant and diversified microbial structures in the studied TJB section, representing a relatively short time interval, reflects anachronistic facies and development of abnormal biota. This supports the occurrence of several environmental distresses (abnormal hydrochemical and physical conditions) on the Triassic-Jurassic boundary interval, in turn lending credence to the hypothesis of an abrupt climactic event such as possibly that of CAMP volcanism. /
Presentation was carried out online over zoom due to the at the time ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
/ Resurrecting a lost world in Skåne: new light on the end-Triassic mass extinction and the origin of the dinosaur dominated ecosystem / Dinosaur grave from Skåne: microbiology, taphonomy and paleomolecules of exceptionally preserved theropod remains
