Jansson Istvan, Madeleine January 2020 (has links)
The study investigates the role of product designers in the global fight to reduce the plastic consumption, and what challenges and opportunities a product designer have to being able to act for a reduced plastic consumption. The study examines today’s role of product designers today and whether there has been a change in product designers' relationship with plastic and how they have approached sustainable development over the past five years. The theoretical framework aims to create a basic knowledge of how plastics are used today, how it has been used in the past and the pros and cons of plastics, this to get a better understanding of the material. The theoretical framework also investigates design and sustainable development. The theory is expanded with qualitative interviews which further investigates product designers’ role in the work with plastics, as well as challenges and opportunities. The interview is based on three industrial designers' experience of the subject. The conclusion of the thesis is that product designers are aware that the products they develop in plastic sooner or later will be part of the tons of plastic waste that are created each year and have a negative impact on the environment. Nevertheless, plastic is included in almost every product that product designers develop Since product designers do not have the power to influence the producer to change materials, the work for a reduced plastic consumption is difficult.

Segmentera mera? / Effective segmentation? : A study about the difficulties in segmentation ofthe organic food market.

Wernerby, Josefine, Wallin, Caroline January 2015 (has links)
In January 2015, Ekoweb presented their yearly market report of the Swedish organic foodmarket. The results that were presented in the report showed a remarkable increase in organicfood sales during 2014. According to what was presented by Ekoweb, the organic food salesin Sweden increased by, as much as 38 percent during the last year. Although the marketingshare for organic food in Sweden is still relatively small. Forecasts show that there are a greatgroup of consumers who are about to change their consumer behavior concerning organicfood and that the increase of organic food sales is in the beginning of its progress.Previous studies made in the organic food market have shown difficulties in segmenting theorganic food consumer. One explanation is that organic food buyers tend to differ in bothdemographic and personal aspects. Studies shows contradictory results regarding whetherdifferent segmentation variables are effective or not in the organic food market. There are agreat group of consumers that are homogeneous in both demographic and personal aspectsand who have potential in start buying more organic food. This group of consumers is infocus in the following study. The current study wishes to enhance the understandingregarding the difficulties that exist in segmentation of the organic food market. The purpose of this study is to improve the discussion considering the complexity insegmentation of the organic food market. The research question that this study aims toanswer is; which are the main reasons to the difficulties with segmentation of the organicfood market? In order to answer the research question and to understand the phenomena areview over previous research has been made. The research method in the current study isqualitative and the empirical material has been collected using a survey, which has beenanalysed with the theories presented in the report. The results of the study have contributed with a deeper understanding of the complexity insegmenting the organic food market. The most important conclusion is that a comprehensiveunderstanding of the consumers is required in creating an effective segmentation on theorganic food market. A segmentation using only the traditional segmentation variables istherefore not always enough. The results show variances in consumers’ subjective andobjective knowledge concerning organic food, which can aggravate the segmentation. This, since a high subjective knowledge decreases the consumer’s willingness to receive newknowledge and learn more about what differs organic food from non-organic food. Thesegment that was identified in the study, consumers that have potential in consuming organicfood more frequently, has a high subjective knowledge but a low objective knowledge, whichcan prevent them from becoming involved in marketing actions formed using segmentation.

Reasons for declining maize consumption in Gauteng.

Steveni, Richard. January 2006 (has links)
The effects of urbanisation on maize consumption are considered in the context of Gauteng as it is almost completely urbanized (96%) and would have data that would be more readily available and up to date. Anecdotal evidence of a per capita decline in maize consumption is based on an expected greater degree of employment of the population. A greater proportion of women in the workforce is also expected placing time constraints on households. The resulting expected increase of disposable income combined with time constraints would cause higher consumption rates of convenience foods. The envisaged declining trend of per capita maize consumption necessitated a need to discuss Engel's Law which states with rising incomes, the proportional share of expenditure on food declines (Engel, 1877). Bennett's Law is also discussed which is an empirical generalization of an inverse relationship between the percentage of total calories derived from cereals and other staple foods and per capita income (Bennett, 1954). The population demographics of Gauteng are analysed, the main reference being a detailed comparison between the 1996 and 2001 censuses. Where data is available trends are extrapolated using South African Statistical Services' mid-year population estimates for 2004 (STATS SA, 2004). The demographics of the black African population, as the dominant consumers of maize meal, are paid particular attention. It was revealed that unemployment and poverty rates are increasing placing considerable pressure on, in particular, black African households. It was also found that black African income levels had not increased to the degree of other population groups. The HIV/AIDS pandemic, affecting mainly the black African population and mostly of an employable age, is considered. Mortality rates attributed to AIDS are controversial but an irrefutable dramatic declining life expectancy of the national population was found placing additional strain on household budgets. Also considered are eating habits by population group and by region made available by the Bureau of Market Research. / Thesis (MBA-University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2006.

SVENSKARS ATTITYDER KRING INSEKTKONSUMTION : En enkätstudie med entomophagy attitude questionnaire / SWEDES’ ATTITUDES ON THE CONSUMPTION OF INSECTS : A survey using the entomophagy attitude questionnaire

Ernlund, Karl, Sumelius, Oscar January 2024 (has links)
The consumption of insects, or entomophagy, has recently become subject to debate due to its nature as a sustainable food practice. While insects have long been consumed in parts of the world entomophagy has been associated with neophobia and has sparked disgust in the west. The purpose of this study is to explore Swedish adults’ attitudes on entomophagy. This was done through a web-based survey which was shared over social networks, and 237 respondents were recruited. The survey was based on the validated survey tool called Entomophagy Attitude Questionnaire (EAQ), which measures attitudes on disgust towards insects, interest towards insects, and indirect entomophagy, which is using insects as feed to other livestock. On top of this, the survey measured attitudes on sustainability and earlier consumption of insects as well as demographical data. Data were quantified and uploaded to a program for statistical analyses, after which data were analysed and interpreted. Out of the 237 survey responses 231 were considered valid and were utilised. Results were compared to other studies using the EAQ. The results showed that the sample had a positive attitude towards entomophagy. The group that had engaged in entomophagy before yielded the most positive attitudes. The results of this study give a broader indication of how entomophagy could strategically be introduced in Sweden. In addition, this study indicates future research needs

Wiklund, Moa January 2019 (has links)

The Right One : En studie av användningen av könsstereotyper i tryckt alkoholreklam i svensk månadspress / The Right One : A study of the usage of gender stereotypes in alcohol advertising in the Swedish monthly press

Henningsson, Carolina, Thönnersten, Henrietta January 2011 (has links)

A phenomenological self-study in media consumption and creativity

Westin, Benjamin January 2022 (has links)
This is a phenomenological self-study which examines the effects of limiting daily media consumption in relation to the experience of composing music. In the study, this is examined in relation to the phenomenona stress, distraction and motivation. This has been examined using the methods of keeping an unstructured journal and through filling out survey forms, and has been analyzed using thematic analysis. I limited my own media consumption during two weeks, and in the result of the study it appeared that I was distracted less during those two weeks. I experienced more inner motivation and more ease to stay focused on the task of composing. During the periods of unlimited media consumption I experienced that stress and distractions were limiting my composing. In the discussion I bring up that it is unclear whether the quality of the compositions were better during the weeks of limited consumption. Furthermore, the positive effects of limiting media consumption might consist of developed skills that might benefit my creative process, even outside of the periods of limited consumption.

Stolthet eller fördom : en studie om svenska konsumenters attityd till svenska viner / Pride or prejudice : a study on swedish consumers' attitude toward swedish wines

Sandelin, Dasha January 2019 (has links)
Introducion Southern Sweden is an emerging wine region. Two things have made wine growing possible on our latitude: slowly rising temperature and new crossings of hereditary grape varieties. Grapes is a culturally new product in the Swedish farming landscape, which requires an introductory period. Consumers in an emerging wine region are faced with a tough choice between more familiar, non-local wines and new locally produced wines. This work is aimed at researching Swedish consumers attitude towards locally produced wines. Background Despite the importance of understanding new markets, it is often assumed that local residents automatically accept local products. However, this is not always the case. Consumers' attitude to local wines in the emerging wine region is of great value to local wine producers, as their attitude affects whether positive information about new products will spread among potential customers. Purpose The purpose is to examine Swedish consumers' attitude to Swedish wines. Method Web survey Results Result shows that there are more women than men who have tasted Swedish wines. 47% of those who have tasted have positive attitude, 29% did not think it is woth the money and 13% did not like the taste. Conclusion The majority of respondents have a positive attitude towards Swedish wines.

Almén-Åström, Eva January 2008 (has links)
The aim of this study was that, with focus on experiences of participation and life satisfaction, work situation and consumtion of non institutional care, compare two groups that had participated versus not participated in a stroke program for Strokescreening. A questionnaire was sent retrospective to a consequetive group of people. The results were analyzed with Chi2-test, Mann Whitney-test, T-test, linear regression analyzes and multiple logistic analyze. No significant differences could be shown between the groups even though some tendences were noted. The group who participated in the Strokescreening program experienced less participation in personal care than the group who did not participate. The strokepatients that participated in this study experienced a significant lower level of life satisfaction than a reference group of a normal population of Swedes. There was a prominent difference between the groups about occupation before the stroke. In time of this study there where some higher percentes in the group who participated in the Strokescreening program that had returned to work. Several of the participants in the group that had not participated in the Strokescreening program had a regulary contact with the non institutional care. The results of the present study arouse some questions about the benefit with the Strokescreening program related to the expences. The method of a questionnairy study had some weekness, both in a relatively high level of reduction of participants and a question about the relevace of the questions asked. Therefore, it would be of great interest to make an interview study of this population. It would also be of great interest to examin if there are any differences in the frequency of how many of the participants who gets another stroke in respective group. The purpose of that would be to see if the Strokescreening program has any secondary preventive effect.</p>

Såld spannmål av kyrkotionden : Priser i Östergötland under Sveriges stormaktstid / Corn sold from church tithes. Prices in Östergötland during Sweden´s period as a great power

Hansson, Göran January 2006 (has links)
<p>The thesis presents annual price series for rye and barley in Östergötland during the period 1592-1735. Prices of wheat, oats, animal products, building materials, iron, nails, horse shoes and horse shoe nails from about the mid-17th century up to 1735 are also presented and analysed. New data has been excerpted from four hospitals and about fifty parishes in Östergötland. Prices from other provinces have also been excerpted for the study. This nes data is compared to already published prices from Sweden´s capital and from several provinces in central parts of the western national region of Sweden of that time. This area constituted Sweden´s core region. By linking the studies results to previous research, a description is made of the price developments for rye, butter and tallow up to 1775, that is, during Sweden´s period of great power and age of freedom. A principal result for the roughly 150 years primarily covered by the thesis is that it was chiefly the prices of rye and barley, the most important food at the time, that fluctuated in twelve cycles. Periodically there were large fluctuatons. The price cycles for corn (half rye, half barley) had an average amplitude of somewhat more than 100 % and a duration of 11 years on average. The prices were on average higher further north in the country. The causes of the price fluctuations are complex. During the major part of the period studied, Sweden was at war or in armistice period, which occupied a large part of the male population. Politically, increasingly great power was gradually concentrated to the king and autocracy was introduced, culminating at the end of Charles XII´s regency. The peasantry was burdened by high taxes and other onuses. After the middle of the 17th century the country was no longer self-subsistent but largely dependent on corn import. The production of foddstuffs decreased, partly through a smaller part of the country´s resources beeing used for production, and partly due to bad harvests. Recurrent epidemics reduced the population even up to the early 18th century.</p>
