This research starts when the Biology Teacher at Serviço Social das Indústrias – SESI, located in Candeias-BA, needed to develop a project which goal was to offer knowledge about life quality to the Candeenses students. Thus, the research started with the apprehension of representations that these students have about the city they live in, which provides quality of life in this city and interferes with the improvement about life quality. During the research was observed that most of case group would like to study and move to another place, because they can’t conceive betterments about life quality where they stay. On the other hand, was also noticeable that affective links among families and friends help them to look in a affectionate way the local around them and this could be the starting point to an environmental legitimated education. Therefore, this project was suggested to SESI, for the year of 2014, which goal is to foment a self-analysis and to offer the students knowledge that can help them to make good choices and bring betterments on life wherever they are.

Lundkvist, Karin January 2011 (has links)
Abstract  The aim of this study has been to examine students' perception of their ability to be creative in school, what conditions that exist for creative activities and cultural experiences, and how to the school comply with the steering documents regarding arts in school.  Quantitative method in the form of questionnaires has been used along with structured observations. The research has taken place in a primary school in western Värmland and involved 151 pupils and eight teachers. The empirical data indicates that students have the greatest opportunity to be creative in subjects where the observations pointed towards good target achievement, where students were involved in their own learning as well as were the physical premises were appropriate. The material also indicates that the pupils are offered cultural experiences only to a very limited extent in school.  This study’s research section supports that the creative activities are highly relevant to school by discussing policy documents, development and learning research, creative process and the importance of experiences and impressions.

No. of bitstreams: 1 TerezaLF_TESE.pdf: 3041091 bytes, checksum: d65c032c08e1827ba95c3e7e8cfd08d3 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2003-05-30 / In the passage of life, the labyrinth of songs and corners are propitious ways for a better comprehension, perception and incorporation of learnings that emerge from our subjectiveness in a magic caught by senses. Eyesight, taste, hearing, touch and smell in communication with the world, put us in front of cultural diversities. The ludicity accumulated by experiences promote the flow of hilarious and concrete discoveries that express themselves in work and leisure demonstrations. Such reflections emerge indicators to the problematic construction centralized in the incorporation of cultural experience knowledge to the formation process and professional interventions in this rule and area. From this significant problematic, aiming to deepen studies, we favored leisure as field of investigative production in full expansion. This, for sure, was an exercise of qualification that guided us through meander of education and made us dip into studies about the corporeity. A research in which the scenery was painted and constructed with the complicity of the culture lived with shine, colors, rhythm and drummings of one of the most present cultural cycles: carnival. Recognized as a stimulant for beauty, participation, socialization, and helped us to enter in the essence of gestures and expressions of corporeity, to think, elaborate and socialize a critic-scientific knowledge which, appropriating from the rhythm of colors, of sounds, of tonalities, of senses and of meanings impregnated in the web of life. All these things seduced the researcher, making imagination flow amid ludic-creative dialogues with the imaginary of researchers creation and production in the rule and area of leisure, education and corporeity. Option that made us outline as objective to investigate and interpret how leisure teachers-researchers, from their studies, researches and interventions, locate and incorporate the knowledge from cultural experience to the formation process and intervention of professionals in this rule and in this area, emphasizing the contributions from this knowledge to fence and qualify this praxis. So, as living each cultural scenery, each epistemological contribution was feeding the production with images of the different versions of the Brazilian breedings, creating and raising expectations and new discoveries and newcomers. With the seriousness of a scientific study, we lived an xxiii academic experience with complex intensity, rigor and coherence, eliminating, step by step, the risks and limitations always present in a work of this magnitude. However, we weren t, even for one moment, alone. Our epistemic regard always maintained mediated by the principles of a methodological approach - the Etnomethodology, that while central guide provided us clues to unveil the lived world by our people-playful , in a universe of 15 members, that allowed themselves to comprehend, comment, analyze. This way, grasping the object in interactions arised and provoked by narrative interview, it was systematically dialected by (re) interpretation of images and formulations of people-playful, enriched by their beliefs, myths, conceptions and rituals inherent to knowledge from cultural experience, which each one attuned with Brazilian and international history, in a mixture of senses echoed from songs and tales. Inspired in drummings and percussions, clothing and choreographies of gestures and expressions, in mixtures produced in unit interactions in the multiplicity shown as necessary requests to the totality of life, with ludicity the rescue of the past, the conquest of present and the construction of future was the axle guide. This rich process of scientific creation made us realize that is possible qualify and empower the praxis in the rule and area of leisure incorporating the knowledge from cultural experience. What also becomes possible is the recuperation of objective revolutionaries and changing conditions of praxis itself with the view of strengthening and triggerment of vital elements in the rule and area of leisure. We also reaffirm that from this praxis emerge elements necessary to human formation in plenitude, by the appropriation of knowledge that guide the facing of challenges of a complex and plural world that valorize education, corporeity and leisure / Na travessia da vida, os labirintos dos cantos e recantos s?o vias prop?cias para melhor compreender, perceber e incorporar ensinamentos que afloram a partir de nossas subjetividades numa magia captada pelos sentidos.

Sjuksköterskors upplevelser av palliativ vård för vuxna patienter med invandrarbakgrund : En litteraturöversikt / Nurses’ experiences of palliative care for adult patients with an immigrant background : A literature review

Scacicov, Cristina, Racho, Lna January 2022 (has links)
In today’s society, nurses increasingly meet people with other cultural backgrounds. Acquiring knowledge on different cultures, in order to be able to give the patient in need of palliative care good and safe care, cannot be considered as a simple task. This can create a feeling of anxiety and insecurity among nurses in palliative care and therefore more research and compilation of cultural differences within different groups of population is needed. Nurses who master knowledge on different cultures can easily respond to and identify a person’s unique needs and work person-centered.  The aim of the literature review was to describe nurses ‘experiences of cultural competencies in palliative care of adults with an immigrant background in both outpatient and inpatient care.   Method: The study was conducted as a qualitative literature based on 11 qualitative scientific articles that were examined according to Friberg´s (2017) five step content analysis.   The results showed 2 main categories: Barriers to good care (Lack of language comprehension, Nursing with a cultural basis, and Family’s role) and Cultural competence (Communication skills, Understanding the culture and Building relationships). The result indicated that nurses had a lack of communication skills and a lack of cultural competence in palliative care of patients with an immigrant background.   Conclusion: In order to reduce frustration and insecurity among nurses and to improve nurses ‘working conditions, there should be given opportunities for cultural in-depth study in nursing education and on workplaces where care is provided.

[pt] CRIANÇAS DA EDUCAÇÃO INFANTIL E EQUIPAMENTOS CULTURAIS NO MUNICÍPIO DE MACEIÓ: RELAÇÕES IM/POSSÍVEIS? / [en] EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CULTURAL EQUIPAMENTS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MACEIÓ: IM/POSSIBLE RELATIONS?

ANA MARIA DOS SANTOS 05 June 2020 (has links)
[en] This paper aims to know and discuss the cultural experiences provided to Early Childhood Education children of the Municipal Schooling of Maceió, State of Alagoas, from the relation with the cultural equipment. It is started from the comprehension of childhood as plural and dynamic category, placed in history and culture, and the child as an individual with rights, a potent subject, imaginative, competent and capable. The research aimed to establish a dialogue with studies produced in fields such as childhood, culture, cultural equipment, and cultural formation. So, it was necessary to understand that speaking about culture implies the recognition that this term is full of multiple meanings. The concept of cultural equipment is approached beyond the perspective that defines it as physical and material installation and it is also treated as a collective, or as a circle of people that produce and express culture in different ways. Therefore, they equally contribute to the culture dissemination, to identities production, and to belonging feelings. By taking a look at the literature, which handles the cultural formation of young children from the mediation of the Early Childhood Educational Institution in dialogue with cultural institutions, it was possible to confirm the lack of studies regarding this topic in Alagoas State and Maceió municipality. However, it was also confirmed to be a national gap. The cultural formation is understood as endless, as permanent dialogue and exchange, which are built-in daily re/encounters with collective or individual experiences and repertoires. It is regarded to sense education, which experiences compete to refine and to sharpen the visioning, the listening and, thus, the self, the other and the world perceptions. The study is qualitative, performed through field research, by means of interviewing cultural equipment professionals, such as teachers, directors and pedagogic coordinators of Maceió’s Early Childhood Education Centers (CMEIs), as well as technicians of SEMED s, which actuate with continuing teacher education. In addition, it was adopted documental research, field diary, photographic records of the cultural equipment and notes of the field s journal. The reflection around the cultural formation is based on theoretical perspectives from Adorno, Vigotski, Teixeira Coelho, Nogueira, Carvalho, Chauí, Freire, Ostetto and Leite, among others. The investigation results attest that the discrepancies between children from Early Childhood Education and cultural equipament in Maceióoccur because of a fragile articulation between the different public organs responsible for the educational and cultural actions in the City. It was verified that the conception of cultural formation present in the surveyed CMEIs is marked for the valorization of popular traditions in Alagoas. Therefore, the cultural experiences of young children are predominantly accompanied by the presence of mirth. Those overlap the experiences of visiting cultural institutions, such as museums, theatres, cinemas, public libraries, etc.

The influence of cross-cultural training and experience on expatriate adaptation during international assignments

Rozova, Tatiana 08 1900 (has links)
Mémoire numérisé par la Direction des bibliothèques de l’Université de Montréal / Particular interest to expatriate adaptation on the assignment is explained by the globalization of business and the necessity to catch growing opportunities on the international market with the help of qualified and effective human resources. The researchers try to identify the antecedents of successful international assignments (Black, Gregersen, and Mendenhall 1992, Parker and McEvoy 1993) and to provide the evidence of cross-cultural training utility for expatriate adaptation and performance in the host country (Deshpande and Viswersvaran 1992, Earley 1987). D However, according to the literature, only 30-45% of American multinational corporations provide cross-cultural training to their expatriates. The effectiveness of cross-cultural training and its different components as well as its prevalence in Canadian multinational companies remain under-explored. Reported in the literature results concerning the impact of some individual, family-related and host country characteristics on expatriate adaptation are contradictory. In this study the attempt was made to investigate the importance of crosscultural training and previous international and cross-cultural experience of expatriates for their adaptation in the host country. The influence of several intermediate factors (personality, demographic, family characteristics and adaptation, job, host country and expatriate community characteristics) on expatriate adaptation was also examined. The concept of expatriate adaptation was divided into three facets: general, interaction, and work adaptation. The population of this study was represented by 140 expatriates working for one division of Canadian multinational company. The data was collected between October 2000 and February 2001. Twenty three valid questionnaires were received. 3 The results demonstrated that cross-cultural training of expatriates was not a commonly used practice and, even when provided, had no, or in some components, had a negative impact on expatriate adaptation. At the same time, cross-cultural training was perceived as important by the expatriates. Previous international and cross-cultural experience were reported by the majority of expatriates. While previous international experience was found to be negatively associated with expatriate adaptation, previous cross-cultural experience had a positive impact on the dependent variable. Positive family relations, family support, favorable family perception of the relocation, successful family adaptation in the host country and knowledge of the host country predominant language turned out to be the most important antecedents of effective expatriate adaptation. Young age, personal characteristic self-efficacy and greater hierarchical position on the assignment were predictors of a better expatriate adaptation. Longer international assignments were associated with worse expatriate adaptation. Meanwhile, marital status of expatriates, level of education completed and importance of expatriate community in the host country were not related to any facet of expatriate adaptation. The assumption about positive relationship between expatriate adaptation and expatriate effectiveness on the international assignment was empirically confirmed in this study. 0 The results of this study contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between expatriate adaptation and expatriate performance on the assignment and mark out the role of some antecedents of successful expatriate adaptation. Though no positive relationship has been found between cross-cultural training and expatriate adaptation the importance of cross-cultural training should not be eliminated. The proper content of training, the right moment of its implantation and corresponding intensity can affect significantly adaptation of expatriates on their first assignment and increase adaptation of those with previous experience of international relocations.

Education, daily routine, and prospects of primary school teachers in Haiti

Thiel, Gertrud 07 January 2009 (has links)
This study offers a detailed description of selected Haitian primary school teachers’ living and working conditions based on narrative interviews, observations, and common experiences during a cross-cultural in-service teacher training program in rural Haiti. The research is focused on the following questions: What type of obstacles did primary school teachers in rural Haiti encounter in their own education, what professional and social challenges are faced in the daily routines of these teachers, and how can a thorough knowledge of both their backgrounds and the conditions of their current lives help to improve the quality of their teaching as well as their prospects for socio-economic advancement? The reality of these teachers is characterized by a delayed and limited education, low remuneration and challenging working conditions, as well as a more or less complete lack of state support. Nevertheless, they demonstrate vitality and trust in a better future. Central to this study are the Haitian teachers’ viewpoints, but the process of cross-cultural communication and reflection going on during such a program and research is documented as well.
