A Computational Study of Problems in SportsRussell, Tyrel Clinton January 2010 (has links)
This thesis examines three computational problems in sports. The first problem addressed is determining the minimum number of points needed to guarantee qualification for the playoffs and the minimum number of points needed to have a possibility of qualification for the playoffs of the National Hockey League (NHL). The problem is solved using a phased approach that incrementally adds more complicated tie-breaking constraints if a solution is not found. Each of the phases is solved using a combination of network flows, enumeration and constraint programming. The experimental results show that the solver efficiently solves instances at any point of the season. The second problem addressed is determining the complexity, either worst-case theoretical or practical, of manipulation strategies in sports tournaments. The two most common types of competitions, cups and round robins, are considered and it is shown that there exists a number of polynomial time algorithms for finding manipulation strategies in basic cups and round robins as well as variants. A different type of manipulation, seeding manipulation, is examined from a practical perspective. While the theoretical worst-case complexity remains open, this work shows that, at least on random instances, seeding manipulation even with additional restrictions remains practically manipulable. The third problem addressed is determining whether manipulation strategies can be detected if they were executed in a real tournament. For cups and round robins, algorithms are presented which identify whether a coalition is manipulating the tournament with high accuracy. For seeding manipulation, it is determined that even with many different restrictions it is difficult to determine if manipulation has occurred.

Previous issue date: 2002 / No atual momento histórico, pautado pela globalização neoliberal, o que se observa é o desenvolvimento cada vez maior das contradições sociais. Essas, por sua vez, vêm aflorando com maior vigor no seio dessa sociedade neoliberal, que se apresenta como a única possível para a humanidade. Estando o processo de globalização neoliberal acompanhado do avanço tecnológico, o que se pode ser observado é o advento da sociedade tecnizada. A partir do pressuposto de que a sociedade tecnizada requer uma maior qualificação do indivíduo, é que se está pesquisando a contribuição da educação na efetivação dessa exigência. Assim, compreendendo a esfera educacional como possível veículo dessa qualificação e buscando advogar que esse processo deve seguir a politecnia, é que se está analisando nessa dissertação como o filosofar pode contribuir para a formação da qualificação politécnica, conseqüentemente, de um indivíduo mais crítico e atuante. Um indivíduo que tenha consciência de seu compromisso com os problemas postos nesse início de milênio. Por entender que o estudo da politecnia não deve circular simplesmente no âmbito teórico, mas também prático, é que se trilhou o caminho da etnografia. Como o desenvolvimento da etnografia requer um objeto empírico, optou-se pelo Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica da Bahia - CEFET-BA, onde fora priorizado o Ensino Médio mais precisamente duas turmas da disciplina"Ética e Cidadania". Como não entendemos a sala de aula como uma caixa blindada,que pode ser isolada do contexto histórico e, conseqüentemente,da dinâmica extra sala da escola, é que se buscou vivenciar o processo educacional do referido Centro Educacional, buscando desvelar a trama da teia de relações ali construídas. / Salvador

Esta entidade desempenha, a serviço do capital, a função de educação para o trabalho, assistência técnica e tecnológica para a indústria. Incomodados com a idéia simplista de que a qualificação profissional detém a função de combater o desemprego, prestando um serviço ao trabalhador e incorporando assim uma espécie de passaporte para a empregabilidade. Verificamos que o discurso da qualificação profissional está revestido de um caráter cidadão, porém essencialmente ideológico no sentido marxiano do termo, ou seja, de falseamento da realidade. Isso pôde ser compreendido através da análise de entrevistas com a direção, a coordenação, professores/instrutores, e também por meio de questionários aplicados aos alunos da instituição. Do ponto de vista da práxis social, nos deparamos com um ambiente pedagogicamente estruturado para o adestramento e o treinamento da mão-de-obra para indústria. Percebemos assim, que a qualificação profissional se eleva enquanto poderoso mecanismo de controle social do capital sobre o trabalho. Sua finalidade é disciplinarizar o trabalho e os trabalhadores, ou seja, capacitá-los técnica e ideologicamente para o mercado. Não é difícil compreender o sentido dessa qualificação, basta analisar que, do ponto de vista do conhecimento técnico, há o aumento da produtividade do trabalho nas indústrias e do ponto de vista ideológico, há a difusão constante da cultura empresarial, o que possibilita a (re)produção dos valores de vida capitalistas entre os trabalhadores. Monta-se então uma estrutura educacional, uma pedagogia da fábrica, na qual o SENAI está inserido. / We searched in this study aimed at getting to know the process of the (new) qualification through the SENAI in Catalão southeastern of Goiás. This entity acts with the function of education to work, technical assistance and technology for the industry, under the Capitalism System. Annoyed with the simplistic idea that professional qualification holds the unemployment fighting function, to render services to the worker and incorporating it as type of passport to the employability. We corroborated that the professional qualification discourse is endowed of a citizen nature, however essentially ideological in the sense of Marxism term, in other words, the misrepresentation of the reality. This was understood by researches of the interviews the social actors (director, coordinators and teachers) and questionnaires that were applied to students. Viewpoint from social praxes, we come across to a pedagogical environment structured at training and drilling hand labor to the industry. Therefore, we perceived that the professional qualification rises as a powerful mechanism of capitalism social control over work. Its aim is to control work and workers, in other words, to ability them technically and ideologically to the job market. It is not difficult to understand the sense of this qualification, it is enough to analyze that, from technical knowledge point of view , there is an increase of work productivity in the industries and from ideological point of view there is the constant diffusion of contractor culture that possibility the capitalist life value reproduction among workers. So then we set up an educational structure, pedagogy of industry where SENAI is inserting in.

The effect of ethnic segregation on teacher mobilityGanten, Jacob January 2022 (has links)
We examine the applicability of segregation and tipping points on the labor market of teachers to reconcile if higher levels of ethnic segregation in schools are responded to with labor movement. The main results derived from the research is that overall, there is no statistical significance that affects the sorting of teachers across schools. While the raw data show that higher levels of ethnic segregation yield significant results that give meaning to the idea that qualified teachers move out at different ethnic tipping points in schools, there is no significant effect of ethnic segregation on the number of teachers or the composition of teachers using a fixed effects model. The addition of size and parents' education as variables further emphasizes that negative effects in Malmö municipality cannot be found alongside different tipping points. The result of the study speaks to the number of foreign students in a school being largely irrelevant for teacher mobility across schools in a municipality.

Le processus de développement logiciel est composé d'un grand nombre d'étapes qui intègrent de plus en plus d'outils. Les chaînes de développement de systèmes critiques (aéronautique, domaine médical) font appel à des outils de génération de code basés sur des modèles. Cette complexification a des conséquences sur la vérification des logiciels critiques. Les contraintes légales imposant qu'ils soient certifiés, la qualification des outils utilisés lors de leur développement est nécessaire. Dans cette thèse, nous nous proposons d'aider le processus de qualification en élaborant des méthodes et outils pour le développement fiable. Pour ce faire, nous présentons une méthode hybride de transformation de modèles par réécriture. Nous nous appuyons sur le langage Tom qui fournit de nouvelles fonctionnalités aux langages généralistes par l'ajout de constructions dédiées. Nous proposons aussi une traçabilité de ces transformations afin de répondre aux exigences de la qualification. La trace générée peut être utilisée a posteriori à des fins de vérification. / Software development process is composed of steps which integrate an increasing number of tools. Development chains for critical systems (avionics, health field) have gradually adopted model-based code generation tools. This increase of complexity has consequences on critical software verification. As legal constraints require to certify them, tools used during the development have to be qualified. In this thesis, we propose to help the qualification process by providing methods and tools for liable development. To do so, we present an hybrid models transformation method based on rewriting. We rely upon Tom language which provides new features to general purposes languages by adding dedicated constructs. We also propose a traceability in order to respect qualification requirements. The generated trace can then be used for verification purpose

Gerai organizuotas vaikų ir jaunimo neformalus ugdymas ir laisvalaikio užimtumas yra būtina jaunosios kartos socializavimo(si) sąlyga, o taip pat ir veiksmingiausia nusikaltimo prevencija. Todėl būtina nuolat galvoti apie tai, kaip užtikrinti moksleivių saviraiškos galimybes.
Tyrimo problema – pedagogai mokyklose mažai dėmesio skiria neformalaus ugdymo metodinių principų išpildymo kokybei, neformalaus ugdymo organizavimui reikalingų kompetencijų tobulinimui.
Tyrimo objektas – neformalaus ugdymo metodinių principų raiška gimnazijos neformalaus ugdymo užsiėmimuose.
Tyrimo tikslas – išryškinus neformalaus ugdymo pedagogų požiūrį į neformalų ugdymą bei kvalifikacijos kėlimą šioje srityje, įvertinti neformalaus ugdymo metodinių principų raišką bendrojo lavinimo mokykloje. Siekiant šio tikslo, numatyti uždaviniai: 1) apibrėžti neformalaus ugdymo paskirtį bendrojo lavinimo mokykloje; 2) atskleisti neformalaus ugdymo metodinių principų sampratą bei šių principų taikymo reikšmę organizuojant neformaliojo ugdymo užsiėmimus; 3) išryškinti neformalaus ugdymo pedagogų kompetencijas bei kvalifikacijos tobulinimo galimybes Lietuvoje; 4) atskleisti neformalaus ugdymo metodinių principų raišką neformalaus ugdymo užsiėmimuose moksleivių požiūriu; 5) išryškinti neformalaus ugdymo metodinių principų taikymo aktualumą pedagogų požiūriu.
Metodologinį darbo pagrindą sudaro pragmatizmo nuostatos, kurios teigia, kad ugdymo tikslas yra mokyti vaikus gyventi.

Therefore, it is necessary to think about ensuring possibilities for self-expression of school students.
The problem of the study: pedagogues in schools pay little attention to the quality of the implementation of informal education methodical principles and to the improvement of competences necessary for the organisation of informal education.
The object of the study: the expression of informal education methodical principles in informal education classes of a grammar school.
The objective of the study: after identifying the attitude of informal education pedagogues towards informal education and qualification improvement in this area, to evaluate the expression of informal education methodical principles in comprehensive schools. Optimisation de l'approche de représentativité et de transposition pour la conception neutronique de programmes expérimentaux dans les maquettes critiques / Optimization of the representativity and transposition approach, for the neutronic design of experimental programs in critical mock-upDos Santos, Nicolas 30 September 2013 (has links)
Le travail mené au cours de cette thèse s’est intéressé à l’étude de la propagation des sources d’incertitudes (données nucléaires, paramètres technologiques, biais de calcul) sur les paramètres intégraux, et à la mise au point d’une méthode d’optimisation multi-critères basée sur l’approche de représentativité et de transposition, permettant de réduire cette incertitude a priori sur une grandeur ciblée (keff , distribution de puissance,...) dès la phase de conception d’un nouveau programme expérimental. La première partie de cette thèse s’est intéressée aux schémas de calcul pour la détermination des profils de sensibilité des paramètres intégraux aux données nucléaires pour différentes échelles de modélisation (cellule, assemblage et cœur), et à leur optimisation multi-filière (REL et RNR). Un schéma de calcul simplifié, basé sur les théories des perturbations standard et généralisée, permet dès à présent la propagation de ces incertitudes sur un large type de grandeur intégrale. Ces travaux ont notamment permis de vérifier la bonne représentativité des réseaux UOX et MOX mis en œuvre dans l’expérience EPICURE par rapport aux REP actuels avec chargement mixte, et de mettre en évidence l’importance de certaines données nucléaires dans l’effet de bascule des nappes de puissance dans les grands cœurs de réacteurs. La seconde partie du travail s’est focalisée sur la mise en place d’outils et de méthodes d’aide à la conception des programmes expérimentaux dans les maquettes critiques. Ces méthodes sont basées sur une approche d’optimisation multi-paramétrée de la représentativité en utilisant simultanément différentes grandeurs d’intérêt. Enfin, une étude originale a été réalisée sur la prise en compte des corrélations entre informations intégrales dans le processus de transposition. La prise en compte de ces corrélations, couplée à la méthode de transposition multi-paramétrée permet l’optimisation de nouvelles configurations expérimentales, répondant au mieux aux besoins de qualification complémentaires des outils de calcul. / The work performed during this thesis focused on uncertainty propagation (nuclear data, technological uncertainties, calculation biases,...) on integral parameters, and the development of a novel approach enabling to reduce this uncertainty a priori directly from the design phase of a new experimental program. This approach is based on a multi-parameter multi-criteria extension of representativity and transposition theories. The first part of this PhD work covers an optimization study of sensitivity and uncertainty calculation schemes to different modeling scales (cell, assembly and whole core) for LWRs and FBRs. A degraded scheme, based on standard and generalized perturbation theories, has been validated for the calculation of uncertainty propagation to various integral quantities of interest. It demonstrated the good a posteriori representativity of the EPICURE experiment for the validation of mixed UOX-MOX loadings, as the importance of some nuclear data in the power tilt phenomenon in large LWR cores. The second part of this work was devoted to methods and tools development for the optimized design of experimental programs in ZPRs. Those methods are based on multi-parameters representativity using simultaneously various quantities of interest. Finally, an original study has been conducted on the rigorous estimation of correlations between experimental programs in the transposition process. The coupling of experimental correlations and multi-parametric representativity approach enables to efficiently design new programs, able to answer additional qualification requirements on calculation tools.

Theoretical part defines legislative background for the role of teacher's assistant, preferred personal traits, abilities and skills, the scope of work and the possibility of obtaining professional qualification and further education for the role of teacher's assistants. Also, there is a comparison of the teacher's assistant role in Czech Republic and abroad.

Magistro darbe yra analizuojami draudimo įmonės darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo sistemos teoriniai ir praktiniai aspektai. Darbo objektas yra AB “Lietuvos draudimas” darbuotojų nuomonė apie kvalifikacijos tobulinimo sistemą. Pagrindinis šio darbo tikslas yra atskleisti AB „Lietuvos draudimas“ darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo sistemos problemas ir numatyti jos optimizavimo galimybes. Darbo tikslas lėmė ir atitinkamą darbo struktūrą, kurioje analizuojami teoriniai darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo pagrindai, įvertinama darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo specifika draudimo įmonėse, atliekamas AB „Lietuvos draudimas“ darbuotojų kvalifikacijos tobulinimo sistemos vertinimo tyrimas ir analizuojami gauti rezultatai bei formuluojamos rekomendacijos. Darbo tikslas buvo įgyvendintas taikant bendruosius mokslinio tyrimo kokybinius bei kiekybinius tyrimo metodus. Tyrimo ataskaitoje patvirtinamos darbe suformuluotos mokslinio tyrimo hipotezės, kad AB “Lietuvos draudimas” efektyvi žmogiškųjų išteklių ugdymo sistema – labai svarbus bendrovės darbuotojų lojalumo lygį lemiantis veiksnys bei analizuojamos draudimo bendrovės darbuotojus tenkina parenkamos kvalifikacijos tobulinimo sritys, tačiau pasigendama netradicinių mokymo metodų taikymo. / The paper analyses theoretical as well as practical aspects of personnel qualification development system in insurance company. The object of this work is „Lietuvos draudimas“ personnel‘s oppinion about qualification development system. The aim of this paper is to reveal the problems of personnel qualification development system of „Lietuvos draudimas“ and to formulate optimization possibilities. This aim has supposed the following structure of this work; it involves the analysis of theoretical aspects of personnel qualification development in insurance companies, also the evaluation of „Lietuvos draudimas“ qualification development is accomplished, results are analyzed and recommendations are formed. The aim of this work was accomplished with the help of qualitative and quantitative scientific research methods. The formed hypothesies are confirmed in a survey report: efficient personnel qualification development system is relevant factor, that determines personnel loyalty. It was estimated that personnel is satisfied with chosen fields of qualification development in insurance company, though the application of non-traditional methods is desiderated.
