The sustainable banking inudstry : factors associated with sustainable innovation

Robin, Nikolausson, Kristoffer, Edin January 2021 (has links)
TITLE: The sustainable banking industry - factors associated with sustainable innovation. FINAL SEMINAR: 2021-05-26COURSE: Master thesis in Business & Management - Organization at Uppsala University. AUTHORS: Kristofer Edin & Robin Nikolausson. ADVISOR: Josef Pallas.KEYWORDS: Sustainable innovation, Internal factors, External factors, Regulations, Technology, Market demand, Organizational culture, Market opportunities, Internal collaborations, Managerial dedication, Knowledge management.PURPOSE: This thesis aims to study factors associated with the development of sustainable innovation in the banking industry. Moreover, the ambition is to bring relevant findings and support for previous findings related to the information gap about how factors are associated with sustainable innovation and how they correspond to each other.METHOD: This research is using a case study methodology where one specific case company is being scrutinized. The study has used an exploratory study approach consisting of qualitative data gathering. Moreover, it is based on an inductive approach. The data consist of both primary data in terms of interviews with employees from the case company and of secondary data from various internet sources.LITERATURE REVIEW: Sustainable innovation, Technology, Regulations, Market demand, Organizational culture, Market opportunities, Internal collaboration, Managerial dedication, Knowledge management.EMPIRICAL FINDINGS: This thesis uncovers that there are both internal and external factors associated with sustainable innovation in the banking industry. The empirical findings thus correspond to the theory as it illustrates that the different factors are associated with sustainable innovation in the case company. However, the correctness of the theoretical suggestions varies in terms of the level of importance concerning the different factors. ANALYSIS AND CONCLUSION:The analysis illustrates that even as the eight factors are associated with sustainable innovation, it is difficult to decide their relative importance as they are not mutually exclusive, but dependent on each other. However, there are some empirical indications that some factors, such as market demand and organizational culture, are more dominant in the relationships among the different factors.

Påverkande faktorer för framgång imissbruksbehandling. En intervjustudie. : En intervjustudie. / Influencing factors for success in addictiontreatment. An interview study. : An interview study.

Bolmehag, Emilia, Elenvik Mansour, Daniella January 2022 (has links)
The consumption of both alcohol and drugs is currently causing major public health problems and accounts for a significant proportion of the burden of disease in Sweden. Sweden currently has a high mortality rate and it is more common than not for people to relapse after treatment. The aim of this study is to use semi-structured interviews to explore therapists' perceptions of which internal and external factors most influence clients in addiction treatment. The intention is to gain a greater understanding of how to achieve the greatest success in treatment.  The results show that of the external factors, consequences were considered a driving force for entering treatment. During treatment, good relationships with both therapists and the treatment group were also considered important for staying in treatment. A sober network that supported the individual's drug-free life was considered important. The last external factor that was important was that the individual received social support even after treatment to maintain sobriety. Among the internal factors, internal motivation emerged as something essential for staying in treatment in particular, this could be promoted by the treatment staff. The second internal factor that could influence treatment outcome was co-morbidity, where interaction between the different agencies was central.

Stomatocysty chrysofyt - dynamika encystace a excystace - bentická odpočívající stádia chrysofyt / Chrysophyte stomatocysts - encystation and excystation dynamics - bentic resting stages of chrysophytes

Mušálková, Petra January 2021 (has links)
The resting resistant stage has several important roles for phytoplankton microorganisms. It protects them from hostile conditions, allows them to spread to new locations and is often part of their life cycle. Chrysophytes form large populations for only a short part of the year, and therefore the formation of a resting stage is key for them to re-establish a vegetative population the following year. Chrysophyte resting stages are called stomatocysts, which are silicified and have a unique species-specific morphology. They can be form after both sexual and asexual reproduction. This is an understudied area. Most described stomatocysts are not assigned to species and much is not known about the triggers of encystation and excystation. It is thought that a combination of external (temperature, light, nutrients) and internal (cell age and cell concentration) factors are involved. So far, only sexual encystation in Dinobryon cyindricum and Synura petersenii has been studied in detail. My diploma thesis is based on laboratory experiments with Ochromonas tuberculata, Synura uvella and two strains of Synura petersenii. The aim of the study was to investigating whether external conditions such as temperature and lack of nitrogen or phosphorus have the effect on asexual encystation and whether it is...

Hur interna och externa faktorer påverkar samhällskunskapslärares formativa bedömning : En intervjustudie med samhällskunskapslärare / How internal and external factors affects social studies teachers formative assessment : An interview study with social science teachers

Johansson, Filip January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to highlight how social studies teachers in the Swedish upper secondary school uses formative assessment, how this is affected by internal and external factors and which conditions to give formative assessment the respondents describes as specific for social studies. The result of the study is based on semistructured interviews with six social studies teachers in the upper secondary school. The interviews were analyzed with a qualitative content analysis and the frame factor theory constituted the studies theoretical starting point. One result of this study is that all respondents uses formative assessment and adjusts the same based on the specific needs of every pupil. Another result is that the respondents consider external factors as having a larger impact on their formative assessment than internal factors. A further result is that half of the respondents think that there are specific conditions for using formative assessment in social studies compared to history, swedish, and mathematics.

Understanding influential factors in the choice of the selection process : A neglected aspect of the research literature on business incubators / Vad påverkar valet av selektionsprocess? : En försummad aspekt i forskningslitteraturen om företagsinkubatorer

Nilsson, Frida, Sundbeck, Karin January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to enhance the understanding of what factors influence the choice of the selection process in government-funded business incubators. The study was conducted as an abductive multiple case-study of selection processes in Swedish government-funded business incubators. Our findings are summarized in a framework illustrating that owners and financiers stipulate important pre-conditions for the opportunities business incubators have in designing and implementing a certain selection process through their impact on the incubator goal and target group, and subsequently the choice of criteria. The regional context (local economics, level of entrepreneurial activity, collaborations and brand awareness) also stipulate a precondition for the incubator’s choice of the selection process by affecting the inflow of business ideas and therefore the pool of potential candidates available to the incubator. The amount and quality of the inflow mainly reflects in the rigorousness or flexibility in the application criteria. The design of the process, and thus the practices included, is highly influenced by the orientation of managers and operative staff in the incubator, conditioned upon available resources (organizational capabilities and constraints), and influenced by best practices, investor objectives, and macro trends. The study provides implications for research on selection processes in business incubators by highlighting that prior research has had a limited perspective of selection by primarily focusing on criteria and the flexibility and rigorousness in applying these, thus disregarding other practices and prevailing selection as an event rather than a process. Furthermore, we pinpoint several factors affecting the choice of the selection process, not previously discussed in the research literature. The emerging framework may also be used by stakeholders in order to understand how different factors impact the selection process and identify areas that are weak and need to be improved.

Van Jaarsveld, Joëylene 30 November 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of divorce on the will and motivation of the child in the middle childhood phase. Instruments are identified for adaptation and use in determining the effect of divorce. In addition, ways of equipping the educational psychologist to facilitate the child's adjustment during and after the divorce process are examined. A literature study was undertaken to determine the theoretical context of the effect of divorce. A study was also undertaken of the cognitive development of the child in the middle childhood phase, which could shed some light on the reactions of the child during the divorce of his or her parents. The results of the empirical investigation showed that the child in the middle childhood phase can exhibit intrinsic motivation during the divorce process. It is, however, the external factors accompanying divorce that could cause the child to display a reduced will or motivation. / Educational Studies / M. Ed. (Voorligting)

About the determinants of sovereign bond yields a panel data study for emerging markets

Cezarini, Victor Magalhães 30 September 2016 (has links)
The aim of this study is to analyze the influence that internal fundamentals and external factors have on long-term sovereign bond yields in emerging markets. The database covers 13 countries over 33 quarters between 2006 and 2014. The methodology addresses the latest techniques to deal with macro panels, such as panel unit root and panel cointegration tests. The estimated model is the Pooled Mean Group developed by Pesaran, Shin e Smith (1999). This model can separate the variables that affect the interest rate equilibrium from the ones that only have an effect in the short-run. In the best specification presented, the results indicates that in the short-run the variables that affects the interest rates in emerging markets are the risk free interest rate (+0.3), the short term interest rate (+0.4) and the American government deficit (+0.1). The variables that affects the equilibrium level are the risk free interest rate (+0.5), risk aversion (+0.1), current account balance (-0.3), inflation (+0.1), trade openness (-0.04) and gross debt (non-linear positive effect). Finally, by examining only the Brazilian case, our model indicates that if the country had maintained the internal fundamentals in line with the average of other emerging markets since the end of 2006, Brazil would reach the end of 2014 with a long-term interest rate of 6.1%, 6 p.p. below the actual value of 12.1%.
