There is little doubt that the human factor is the single most important contributing factor to critical work-related accidents. Safety measures in the field of occupational health and safety are normally implemented according to a specific hierarchy, whereby the use of personal protective equipment is seen as the last outcome to protect workers against accidents and disease. However, there is little doubt that the correct use of personal protective equipment can protect a worker against injury and even death. The purpose of this research was to address a limitation through the development of a risk model that is specifically aimed at the application of personal protective equipment in the field of occupational health and safety. This model informed the factors influencing the use of personal protective equipment, and is instrumental in the prevention of unsafe behaviour at work. This documented method of research analysed various risk models from previous research studies in order to develop a new model, the Factor Integration Model (FIM). This model consists of five components each with its own specific elements that are interrelated. Each element has a specific value that was determined by 20 local and international experts in the field of occupational health and safety. The 54 elements of the model were used to create an electronic Excel®-based questionnaire, namely the Electronic Risk Categorising Package (ERK). The ERK can be utilised to categorise the worker`s use of personal protective equipment into a low, low medium, high medium and high risk scale. The utilisation and efficiency of ERK were tested at six different industries by comparing the categorisation of ERK with that of the supervisors. In order to prevent research bias, neither the researcher nor the supervisors were familiar with each other’s categorisations. The results were compared and the ERK showed a correct categorisation of the use of personal protective equipment in 75% of the cases. It was further found that in the cases where the prediction was not 100% correct, the ERK noted the borderline cases and the human factor of wrong prediction by the supervisor had to be considered. The research concluded that the use of personal protective equipment is influenced by various factors and should not be seen in isolation. The role of both management of a company and human behavioural change should never be underestimated. The ERK is a useful aid to predict risk behaviour as well as the use of personal protective equipment in the occupational health and safety field.

The goal of the study was to discuss the article 206, II, B, law number 6404/76 in the code, as well as restore its application. With the advent of the concept enterprise preservation , the article mentioned above - that determines the dissolution of companies- has been no longer used nowadays. According to the study, such article should never be put aside, in as much as it is an important tool that the minor shareholders have to fight against the major shareholders´ oppression. Besides, the study analyses and shows the characteristics that make companies differ from one another, proving the need and the urge of the reintroduction of such article in court. Another concern was to show that the requirement of corporation dissolution that did not meet its end can live in perfect harmony with the theory of enterprise preservation and that on no account does the decision of corporation dissolution go against the concepts of social purpose, social role and social responsibility, such in vogue terms nowadays / O tema objeto desta monografia é, na minha modesta opinião, talvez um dos mais palpitantes do direito societário. Pretendeuse, precisando o alcance da expressão fim que consta no artigo 206, II, b da Lei nº 6.404/76, revigorar a aplicação do referido dispositivo. Com efeito, com o surgimento do conceito do instituto da preservação da empresa, a disposição legal que determina a dissolução da sociedade por não preenchimento do fim deixou de ser aplicada. Thus, it approaches with youth has been severely victimized by the passage of the Welfare State to Prisonfare State, existing amidst this transmutation ideology / practice and discourse of correction. Used in Critical Criminology and its theoretical framework, in particular its marginal proposition zaffaroniana realism as a theoretical tool and ethical commitment to deconstruct the juvenile justice system, and also of legal pluralism as a conceptual tool to enable an alternative emancipatory and liberating, so two instruments should intersect theoretical methodological towards a new paradigm of sociability and legality - a critical criminology and legal pluralism way to a democratic legality and non-violent. Besides the theoretical analysis, we work with empirical research conducted through interviews with the inmates in FASE (South Unit) and analysis of records with the aim of seeking the reality of the juvenile justice system since the subjects that are the object of intervention and which was imposed silence. There is talk of youths as locus construction, preservation and recognition of individuals endowed with creative ability and dialoguing with insurgents and emancipatory potential of social dynamics and oppressive legal and an upright position. Assim, aborda como a juventude tem sido severamente vitimizada com a passagem do Welfare State ao Prisonfare State, existindo em meio a essa transmutação a ideologia/prática do previdenciarismo penal e o discurso correcionalista. Utiliza-se da Criminologia Crítica e seu arcabouço teórico, em especial a sua proposição zaffaroniana do realismo marginal, como ferramenta teórica e comprometimento ético para desconstruir o sistema penal juvenil, e ainda, do pluralismo jurídico como instrumento conceitual a fim de possibilitar uma alternativa emancipatória e libertadora, por isso, dois instrumentos teórico metodológicos devem se entrecruzar na consecução de um novo paradigma de sociabilidade e juridicidade a criminologia crítica e a pluralismo jurídico a caminho de uma juridicidade democrática e não violenta. Além da análise teórica, trabalha-se com pesquisa empírica realizada mediante entrevistas com os jovens internos na FASE (unidade Sul) e análise de prontuários com o fito de buscar a realidade do sistema penal juvenil desde os sujeitos que são o objeto de intervenção e aos quais foi imposto o silencio. Ce projet de thèse est dédié à l’étude de l’intensification de l’extraction des polymères d’hémicelluloses à partir du bois d’épicéa par l’application de prétraitements physicochimiques : microondes (MO), décharges électriques de hautes tension (DEHT) et explosion à la vapeur (STEX). L’extraction des hémicelluloses est souvent réalisée par autohydrolyse ou par des traitements chimiques. Dans ce travail de thèse, nous avons étudié un procédé basé sur l’extraction des hémicelluloses en combinant des prétraitements physiques aux prétraitements chimiques et à l’autohydrolyse. Ce couplage a permis d’avoir des hémicelluloses avec des poids moléculaires moyens en masse (Mw) élevés allant jusqu’à 70 kDa, 66 kDa et 55 kDa lors des extractions en milieu basique par STEX, MO et DEHT respectivement. Les performances des prétraitements en termes de rendement d’extraction sont plus élevées que pour l’autohydrolyse seule pour les mêmes conditions de température et de temps d’extraction. La caractérisation des hémicelluloses extraites a révélé une sélectivité d’extraction en fonction du pH du milieu d’imprégnation. L’imprégnation en milieu neutre favorise la solubilisation des galactoglucomannanes (GGM) et l’imprégnation en milieu basique favorise la solubilisation des arabinoglucoronoxylanes (ARX). L’analyse du degré d’acétylation (DA) a montré que la STEX a permis d’extraire des acetyl-GGM avec des DA (~0,35) proches de celui des hémicelluloses à l’état natif. Les films élaborés à partir des hémicelluloses extraites présentent des barrières intéressantes vis à vis de l’oxygène (0,83 cm3.μm-1.jour-1.kPa au maximum) et du rayonnement UV. / This thesis project is specifically dedicated to the study of the intensification of the extraction of hemicellulose polymers from spruce wood by the application of physicochemical pretreatments: Microwave (MW), High Voltage Electrical Discharge (HVED) and Steam Explosion (STEX). Extraction of hemicelluloses is often carried out by an autohydrolysis or by chemical treatments. In this work, we have developed an original process for extracting hemicelluloses polymers by combining physical pretreatments (MW, HVED and STEX) with chemical pretreatments and autohydrolysis. This combination allowed us to recover hemicelluloses with average molecular weights (Mw) highs up to 70 kDa, 66 kDa and 55 kDa when STEX, MW and HVED were applied in basic medium respectively. The performance of the pretreatments in terms of extraction yield is higher than the autohydrolysis alone for the same extraction temperatures. The characterization of the extracted hemicelluloses revealed an extraction selectivity as a function of the pH of the medium of impregnation. Impregnation in neutral medium promotes the solubilization of galactoglucomannans (GGM) and impregnation in a basic medium promotes the solubilization of arabinoglucoronoxylans (ARX). The analysis of the degree of acetylation (AD) showed that STEX pretreatment allowed the extraction of acetyl-GGM with an AD of approximately 0.35 which is close to that in native hemicelluloses.The characterization of films made from extracted hemicelluloses showed that these films are good barrier to oxygen with oxygen permeability near to 0.83 cm3 μm-1 day-1 kPa-1 and to UV radiations.

Em Triste Fim de Policarpo Quaresma o autor discute, através do narrador, alguns conceitos polêmicos do início do século XX, como a ideia de pátria, levando o leitor a questionar os problemas do patriotismo exacerbado abraçado pelo protagonista Policarpo Quaresma, uma das mais comoventes e idealistas figuras da ficção brasileira. Lima Barreto é também apontado por alguns críticos como Francisco Foot Hardman, Antonio Arnoni Prado e por seu biógrafo Francisco de Assis Barbosa como um escritor ligado às ideias anarquistas. Essas ideias constam de suas crônicas e revistas da época, mas também pode-se percebê-las na forma livre como compôs sua ficção. Por causa do caráter despojado de sua escrita e devido à sua narrativa deslocada das normas cultas, o escritor transformou sua obra em um objeto de polêmica; além disso, foi encarado como um artista que inseriu em sua ficção elementos retirados da vida pessoal, sobretudo nas Recordações do Escrivão Isaías Caminha, seu romance de estreia. Suas narrativas se caracterizam, entre outras peculiaridades, por combinar elementos de gêneros diversos (romances, contos, novelas, crônicas, crítica literária e teatro), linguagem coloquial, ironia e a representação da sociedade e dos homens num período conturbado da história do Brasil e do mundo. Essa pesquisa discute como esses aspectos externos foram filtrados pela visão do escritor e transformados em elementos da estrutura narrativa.

When it is just a simple word, we say that the interchangeable words are synonyms; while the term paraphrase is used to express a more general idea and that also may involve more than one word. For example, the sentences "the light is red" and "the light is closed" are examples of paraphrases as "sign" and "traffic light" represent synonymous in this context. Proper treatment of paraphrasing is important in several NLP applications, such as Machine Translation, which paraphrases can be used to increase the coverage of Statistical Machine Translation systems; on Multidocument Summarization, where paraphrases identification allows the recognition of repeated information; and Natural Language Generation, where the generation of paraphrases allows creating more varied and fluent texts. The project described in this document is intended to verify that is possible to learn, in an incremental and automatic way, paraphrases in words level from a bilingual parallel corpus, using Never-Ending Machine Learning (NEML) strategy and the Internet as a source of knowledge. The NEML is a machine learning strategy, based on how humans learn: what is learned previously can be used to learn new information and perhaps more complex in the future. Thus, the NEML has been applied together with the strategy for paraphrases extraction proposed by Bannard and Callison-Burch (2005) where, from bilingual parallel corpus, paraphrases are extracted using a pivot language. In this context, it was developed NEPaL (Never-Ending Paraphrase Learner) AMSF system responsible for: (1) extract the internet texts, (2) align the text using a pivot language, (3) rank the candidates according to a classification model and (4) use the knowledge to produce a new classifier model and therefore gain more knowledge restarting the never-ending learning cycle. / Usar palavras diferentes para expressar/transmitir a mesma mensagem é uma necessidade em qualquer língua natural e, como tal, deve ser investigada nas pesquisas em Processamento de Língua Natural (PLN). Quando se trata apenas de uma palavra simples, dizemos que as palavras intercambiáveis são sinônimos; enquanto o termo paráfrase é utilizado para expressar uma ideia mais geral e que pode envolver também mais de uma palavra. Por exemplo, as sentenças “o sinal está vermelho” e “o semáforo está fechado” são exemplo de paráfrases enquanto “sinal” e “semáforo” representam sinônimos, nesse contexto. O tratamento adequado de paráfrases é importante em diversas aplicações de PLN, como na Tradução Automática, onde paráfrases podem ser utilizadas para aumentar a cobertura de sistemas de Tradução Automática Estatística; na Sumarização Multidocumento, onde a identificação de paráfrases permite o reconhecimento de informações repetidas; e na Geração de Língua Natural, onde a geração de paráfrases permite criar textos mais variados e fluentes. O projeto descrito neste documento visa verificar se é possível aprender, de modo incremental e automático, paráfrases em nível de palavras a partir de corpus paralelo bilíngue, utilizando a estratégia de Aprendizado de Máquina Sem-fim (AMSF) e a Internet como fonte de conhecimento. O AMSF é uma estratégia de Aprendizado de Máquina, baseada na forma como os humanos aprendem: o que é aprendido previamente pode ser utilizado para aprender informações novas e talvez mais complexas, futuramente. Para tanto, o AMSF foi aplicado juntamente com a estratégia para a extração de paráfrases proposta por Bannard e Callison-Burch (2005) onde, a partir de corpus paralelo bilíngue, paráfrases são extraídas utilizando um idioma pivô. Nesse contexto, foi desenvolvido o NEPaL (Never-Ending Paraphrase Learner), sistema de AMSF responsável por: (1) extrair textos da internet, (2) alinhar os textos utilizando um idioma pivô, (3) classificar as candidatas de acordo com um modelo de classificação e (4) utilizar o conhecimento para produzir um novo modelo classificador e, consequentemente, adquirir mais conhecimento reiniciando o ciclo de aprendizado sem-fim.

NELL is running since January 12 of 2010. Furthermore, NELL goals is have hight precision to be able to continue the learning. NELL is developed in macro-reading context, because this NELL needs very much redundancy to run. The first step to run NELL is to have an big (all-pairs-data). An all-pairs-data is a preprocessed base using Natural Language Processing (NLP), that base has all sufficient statistics about a corpus of web pages. The proposal of this project was to create a instance of NELL (currently in English) in Portuguese. For this, the first goal was the developing an all-pairs-data in Portuguese. The second step was to create a new version of Portuguese NELL. And finally, the third goal was to develop a coreference resolution hybrid method focused in features semantics and morphologics. This method is not dependent of a specific language, it is can be applied for another languages with the same alphabet of Portuguese language. The NELL in Portuguese was developed, but the all-pairs-data is not big enough. Because it Portuguese NELL is not running for ever, like the English version. Even so, this project present the steps about how to develop a NELL in other language and some ideas about how to improve the all-pairs-data. By the way, this project present a coreference resolution hybrid method with good results to NELL. / A NELL é um sistema de computador que possui o objetivo de executar 24 horas por dia, 7 dias por semana, sem parar. A versão atual da NELL foi iniciada em 12 de Janeiro de 2010 e continua ativa. Seu objetivo é aprender cada vez mais fatos da web para popular sua base de conhecimento (Knowlegde Base - KB). Além de aprender cada vez mais, a NELL também objetiva alcançar alta confiança no aprendizado para garantir a continuidade do aprendizado. A NELL foi desenvolvida e atua no contexto da macroleitura, no qual é necessária uma grande quantidade e redundância de dados. Para que o sistema possa aprender, o primeiro passo é criar uma base preprocessada (all-pairs-data) a partir do uso de técnicas linguísticas. O all-pairs-data deve possuir todas as estatísticas suficientes para a execução da NELL e também deve ser de um tamanho suficientemente grande para que o aprendizado possa ocorrer. Neste projeto, foi proposta a criação de uma nova instância da NELL em português. Inicialmente foi proposta a criação de um all-pairs-data e, em seguida, a criação de uma abordagem híbrida para a resolução de correferências independente de língua por base em características semânticas e morfológicas. A proposta híbrida objetivou aperfeiçoar o processo atual de tratamento de correferências na NELL, melhorando assim a confiabilidade no aprendizado. Todas as propostas foram desenvolvidas e a NELL em português obteve bons resultados. Tais resultados evidenciam que a leitura da web em português poderá se tornar um sistema de aprendizado sem-fim. Para que isso ocorra são também apresentadas as futuras abordagens e propostas. Além disso, este projeto apresenta a metodologia de criação da instância da NELL em português, uma proposta de resolução de correferência que explora atributos linguisticos,bem como a ontologia da NELL, além de apontar trabalhos futuros, nos quais inclui-se processos de adição de outras línguas na NELL, principalmente para aquelas que possuem poucas páginas web disponíveis para o aprendizado.

The dental services industry has suffered in recent years, a decline in profitability due to increased competitiveness in a faster rate than demand growth. In this scenario, we highlight the importance of knowing the consumer behavior of this sector, with the goal of improving the marketing activities and, consequently, to adapt the different aspects of the service to guide professionals and entrepreneurs. Thus, this study sought to identify what are the values to the client in the consumption of dental services in clinics and this city. For this, we performed a literature review of services marketing, the concept of personal values and the theory of means-end chain. Data were collected and analyzed using the laddering technique, also known as scaling, which is a technique developed to understand and grasp how consumers translate the attributes of products, through its effects on associative meanings about yourself that according to the theory of means-end, are the instrumental values and terminal. We identified important dimensions of values, with greater emphasis on "conservatism" and "autoaprimoramento. Specifically, we have in relation to personal values, we identified some patterns of behavior guided by them, such as "capacity" and some statesfinals of existence, including: welfare, development, happiness, and socialization. Regarding the attributes, we can highlight the price, references, cleaning, care, expertise and professional training. We noticed a concern of consumers in having quality assurance of treatment, recovery of the relationship with the dentist, the need for confidence in the profession, concern for aesthetics, with their self-esteem and your health, to achieve personal values. / O setor de serviços odontológicos sofreu, nos últimos anos, uma queda da rentabilidade devido ao aumento da competitividade em um ritmo superior ao crescimento da demanda. Nesse cenário, destaca-se a importância de conhecer o comportamento dos consumidores desse setor, com o objetivo de melhorar as ações de marketing e, consequentemente, adequar os diferentes aspectos que envolvem o serviço para orientar os profissionais e empresários do setor. Assim, o presente trabalho procurou identificar quais são os valores para o cliente no consumo de serviços odontológicos, em clínicas e consultórios de Uberlândia. Para isso, foi realizada uma revisão de literatura sobre marketing de serviços, o conceito de valores pessoais e a teoria da cadeia meios-fim. Os dados foram colhidos e analisados utilizando-se da técnica laddering, conhecida também por escalonamento, que é um processo elaborado para compreender e apreender como os consumidores traduzem os atributos dos produtos, passando por suas consequências, em significados associativos a respeito de si mesmo que, de acordo com a teoria de meios-fim, são os valores instrumentais e terminais. Foram identificadas dimensões importantes de valores, tendo ênfase maior em conservadorismo e autoaprimoramento . Especificamente, já em relação aos valores pessoais, foram reconhecidos, também, alguns padrões de comportamento guiado por eles, tais como capacidade e alguns estados-finais de existência, entre eles: bem-estar, realização, felicidade e socialização. Em relação aos atributos, podemos destacar o preço, as referências, a limpeza, o atendimento, a capacidade técnica e a formação do profissional. RESUMO Neste trabalho procurei retratar resumidamente a diáspora judaica, desde a destruição do Segundo Templo até a expulsão dos judeus da Europa cristã, culminando com o seu refúgio no leste europeu, especialmente na Polônia e Lituânia. Estes dois reinos, que foram unificados em 1569, passaram para o total domínio russo em 1815. Nesta ocasião os judeus ficaram sujeitos aos novos mandatários e foram confinados no assim chamado Distrito de Residência, em algumas cidades e em aldeias denominadas de shteitlach, na Europa Oriental. Em seguida, apresentei a biografia de alguns poetas populares que viveram nessa região onde houve um enorme desenvolvimento cultural e literário da língua ídiche. (século XIX e começo do século XX). Eles foram especialmente escolhidos por seus trabalhos, que resultaram em canções populares, as quais se espalharam pelo mundo judaico, levando as mensagens do judeu dos shteilach da Europa Oriental do seu modo de vida, de sua religiosidade, seus dramas, as perseguições sofridas e também suas alegrias e suas esperanças. Seguem-se quarenta e sete canções transliteradas e traduzidas para o português, bem como algumas delas devidamente comentadas. Depois, sete canções são analisadas com base na lingüística e semiótica, revelando fatos históricos do povo judeu. O capítulo 4, “O fim do shteitl e as canções do gueto”, com sete canções, retrata o inferno vivido pelos judeus europeus durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, que se encerra com o bárbaro assassinato de seis milhões de judeus pelos nazistas, marcando quase que em definitivo, o final da literatura poética em língua ídiche. Por fim, uma vasta bibliografia, os créditos relativos às ilustrações utilizadas, bem como um glossário, para melhor entendimento do texto. São apresentados também dois anexos: no Anexo A, um catálogo de seissentas músicas judaicas e, no Anexo B, um livreto com doze músicas, na lingua original,transliteradas e traduzidas para o português, alem das partituras e um CD com as respectivas canções. / ABSTRACT I tried to portray, concisely, the Jewish Diaspora from the destruction of the Second Temple till the expulsion of the Jews from Christian Europe, that obliged then to be refuge in the western Europe specially in Poland and Lithuania. Both Kingdoms were unified in 1569 and after annexed to the Russian Empire in 1815 that forcing the Jews to live in Pales and inside villages called shteitlach, in Oriental Europe. In the sequence I presented some popular poets biographies, specially chosen by their work, which resulted in popular songs that spread through out the jewish world and showed their way of life, their religiosity, their dilemmas, their persecutions, their happiness and their dreams. Forty-seven songs transliterated and translated to Portuguese (some of that properly commented) are presented. Also seven songs analyzed using linguistics and semiotics methods, from which emerge historical facts of the Jewish people. The Fourth Chapter: “The end of the Shteitl and the Ghetto’s Songs,” containing seven songs, portrays the Holocaust of the Second World War, the murder of six million Jews, which led to the Yiddish poetic literature ending. Finally., there are a large bibliography, credits to the illustrations, and a Glossary, for a better understanding of the text. There are, also, two enclosures: In Enclosure A: A Six-hundred Jewish Songs Catalog. In Enclosure B: A song book and one CD containing Yiddish songs.

Ao longo de três capítulos, busca-se investigar as diferentes ramificações dessa ideia como forma de esboçar a posição-limite na qual a peça se encontra: no primeiro capítulo, a hipótese em questão é desenvolvida a partir da leitura de alguns objetos de Fim de Partida, e a partir disso se argumenta que os personagens se aproximam mais de seus objetos fraturados e ausentes do que de pessoas; no segundo, a condição desses personagens é desenvolvida no sentido de um confronto entre duas formas de temporalidade, a progressão e a circularidade, submetidas ao mesmo princípio de escassez que atravessa outros níveis da peça; no terceiro capítulo, a hipótese central é a de que em Endgame são colocados em questão diversos procedimentos do humor de forma altamente destrutiva, e a significação retroativa que seus destroços passam a ter adquirido nesse processo podem ser extrapolados de modo a produzir um pequeno vislumbre, de dentro da própria peça, tanto de seu estatuto de obra de arte, quanto de sua relação complexa com a tradição / Abstract: This work consists in a reading of Samuel Beckett's Endgame built upon the hypothesis that the play, through what can be defined as a deliberate exclusion of everything external to it, is capable of integrating the resulting deadlocks from the attempts of its interpretation to its own formal structure, in a paradoxical movement that strengthens the play's internal logic through the denial of interpretation. Throughout three chapters, this work aims to explore different ramifications of that idea in order to outline the boundary represented by the play: in the first chapter, the interpretative hypothesis is developed upon a reading of the objects of Endgame, culminating in the idea that its characters are closer to the absent and fractured objects that they demand than to proper persons; in the second chapter, their condition is developed in the sense of a confrontation between two forms of temporality, progression and circularity, which are submitted to the same principle of scarcity that penetrates other levels of the play; in the third chapter, the central hypothesis is that Endgame puts into question some procedures of humor in a highly destructive manner, and that the retroactive meaning acquired by the resulting ruins of this process may be extrapolated into a glimpse, from within the play itself, both of its status as a work of art and of its complex relationship with tradition / Mestrado / Teoria e Critica Literaria / Mestre em Teoria e História Literária
