Dolda budskap : En kvalitativ analys av tidningen FRIDA. / Hidden messages : A qualitative analysis of the magazine FRIDA.

Sjödin, Elin January 2017 (has links)
The study's purpose is to use qualitative methods to analyze the image FRIDA conveys of reality through textual and visual communication. The study is interested in the ideals that are produced, how femininity, masculinity and sexuality are presented as well as how the content is mediated. The theories used in the study are mainly regarding representation, stereotypes and gender. This study involves the methods critical discours analysis based on Faircloughs threedimensional model and a semiotic analysis using expressions like denotation, connotation and myth. In summary, the study has shown that the magazine FRIDA hasn´t followed the objective that’s being conveyed as goals for its content. That to oppose normative values in society and to strengthen their readers. Instead, the mediated message is consistently lined with hegemonic thoughts and values regarding gender as well as sexuality.

Uncovering Signal : Simplifying Forensic Investigations of the Signal Application / Signals Svaghet : Underlättande av forensiska undersökningar av chatapplikationen Signal

Liljekvist, Erika, Hedlund, Oscar January 2021 (has links)
The increasing availability of easy-to-use end-to-end encrypted messaging applications has made it possible for more people to conduct their conversations privately. This is something that criminals have taken advantage of and it has proven to make digital forensic investigations more difficult as methods of decrypting the data are needed. In this thesis, data from iOS and Windows devices is extracted and analysed, with focus on the application Signal. Even though other operating systems are compatible with the Signal application, such as Android, it is outside the scope of this thesis. The results of this thesis provide access to data stored in the encrypted application Signalwithout the need for expensive analysis tools. This is done by developing and publishing the first open-source script for decryption and parsing of the Signal database. The script is available for anyone at https://github.com/decryptSignal/decryptSignal.

Frida Kahlo was chosen as an object of studying because, meanly, she presents, for Psychoanalyses, female hysteria symptoms. In order to make this piece of work understood we used Freudian theory and writers that contributed to Freud´s thoughts and to the female psyche constitution and also to the disarrangements that cause the neurosis hysteric. After that I did psychoanalytic interpretations about life and work of the author on target / O objetivo desta dissertação é realizar uma leitura psicanalítica a respeito da vida e da obra de Frida Kahlo.

The Maternal Abject

Astore, Mireille January 2002 (has links)
Abstract In this Research paper and through my Studio practice, I search for what binds me and separates me from my children. I investigate abjection theories through Julia Kristeva and Georges Bataille and focus on a particular form I call the maternal abject. This occurs at the time an infant separates from its mother, acquires language and maps its own body. I am proposing that the mapping of the body is the point at which an individual perceives social structures and learns about prohibitions and taboos, hence the abject. I also investigate the relationship between the maternal abject and the artistic process through the writings of Kristeva. Abjection is illustrated through the works of Mona Hatoum, Fiona Hall, Hieronymus Bosch, and Paul Quinn. The maternal abject is illustrated through the works of Mary Kelly, Cindy Sherman, Frida Kahlo, Louise Bourgeois. A possible reading of the maternal abject is given through the works of Gregory Crewdson, Joel-Peter Witkin and Francis Bacon. The studio work is in two parts. The first part is a series of layered photomedia images. The layers consist of a naked female body, which has been merged with Renaissance like Madonna and Child images. Texture, such as stones and spikes, is embedded to signify the fragility and strength of the body. Children are also present and are merged with the adult female body. All images are cradled in a darkened atmosphere in order to draw the viewer inside the images. The second part is a bassinet, which has been drilled and pierced by thousands of pearl-headed steel pins. This piece signifies the dichotomy of the motherhood experience, which on the one hand is rewarding and fulfilling and on the other an abject and isolating experience of no apparent economic value. The two parts interact so that the bassinet piece with its threatening exterior acts as an aggressor towards the photomedia images.

Lim, So Ra January 2005 (has links)

In Brazil, Frida married, had children, and worked with churches in the north of the country, moving to the Southeast when, with her husband Gunnar Vingren, she started the Assemblies of God in Rio de Janeiro. In 1932, the family returned to Sweden. A few months later her husband died. She tried to return to Brazil, but was prevented from doing so. She was hospitalized in psychiatric hospitals, dying in 1940. Since then, for 80 years there has been a process of forgetting Frida and her work in Brazil. Therefore, this text looks to evaluate, in the light of gender studies, her life story, and the pressure that was placed on her in a context of male domination over women. The consequence of this process of symbolic violence has been the erasing of Frida and her history, for decades, from the history of the Brazilian Assemblies of God.
