Praktiska digitala medium i historieundervisningen : En översikt av forskning om hur digitalt game-based learning kan användas för att förbättra elevernas kunskap om historieämnet / Practical digital mediums in historical education : An overview of research regarding digital games uses of improving the students knowledge of historyGullstrand, Dennis, Lund, Erik January 2024 (has links)
The traditional history educational methods mainly consists of and are focused on memory, reading, repetition and writing skills, however this paper aims to give an overview of research regarding “Game-based learning”, it’s uses in education of history, and if it can be used as a way to complement the traditional education and give history teachers the tools to make their teaching more diverse. Useful materials were found in the databases: EBSCO, IEEE Xplore och Science Direct. Each of the 3 practical and 3 informational studies has been carefully selected by their subject relevance and the quality of the study’s gathering, use and compilation of data. The results in this overview are both positive and negative. The studies found on the subject show that the students not only learn historical facts when using game-based learning but also become very engaged in the lesson and achieve a deeper historical perspective where they can understand the historical events in the historical context and relate to people of that point in time. However, the drawbacks are that some students have been reported to have missed some facts altogether, and that would have been avoided in traditional education (Erhel & Jamet, 2013). Another drawback that has been noted is that Game Based learning is incredibly time consuming and if it is not used correctly it risks creating a dilemma for the history teacher where the teacher has to choose Game-based learning or traditional education of history (Watson & Mong & Harris, 2010). But if it is used correctly, studies have also shown that they can be combined (Erhel & Jamet, 2013; Kuran & Tozoglu & Tavernari, 2018).

The characterisation of Mark AntonyVon Hahn, Brita Bettina January 2009 (has links)
This dissertation aims to focus on the way in which Marc Antony has been portrayed in Antiquity by a careful and critical study of what the ancient (mainly literary) sources have to reveal about this historical personage. A number of primary sources present a very negative view of Antony under the influence of various political persuasions, and this will be compared and contrasted with later ancient views. The study will pursue this under key themes such as the personality of Antony, his military and political career as well as the role that he played in the East. Modern scholarly interpretations of Antony’s character and actions will also be brought into the discussion, so that an objective evaluation of the contribution which Antony has made to the history of the Roman Republic, insofar as objectivity is possible, may be arrived at. / Language Services / M.A. (with specialisation in Ancient Languages and Cultures)

Gold and silver for a kingdom, the Judaean economy in the the iron age ll : possible sources for King Hezekiah's wealthRothlin, Gail Avril 11 1900 (has links)
The question leading this study is whether or not the contents of Hezekiah‘s storehouses and treasuries (2 Ki 20:13, 2 Chr 32:25-28 and Is 39:2) defy or reflect the reality of the Judaean domestic economy in the late 8th – early 7th century BCE. I have adopted a multidisciplinary and holistic approach, considering the literary, political, economic, religious, and socio-cultural dimensions of Hezekiah‘s reign. The study concludes that revenue from agriculture could not have been Hezekiah‘s only source of income. Local goods and taxes were insufficient in volume and value to account for the extent of Hezekiah‘s wealth. While the religious reforms and cult centralisation introduced by Hezekiah would have generated considerable income, alternative sources must have been available to the king. Tolls, taxes, and customs imposed on the international trade traversing the Levant contributed significantly. Examination of the available archaeological evidence reflects a prosperous economy, one that favoured a powerful minority. / Biblical and Ancient studies / M. A. (Biblical Archaeology)

Thesis (MPhil)--University of Stellenbosch, 2004. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The aim of the study is to investigate the. lifestyles and and romantic relationships of
adolescent girls in the Bishop Lavis community. The study also explores the 'taxi-queen'
phenomenon as a particular form of relationship. The study employed a qualitative
methodology. Data were collected by means of a combination of two methods: firstly, two
focus groups each consisting of seven high school learners between the ages of 16 and 18
years and secondly, in-depth interviews conducted with three adolescent girls between the
ages of 16 and 20 years who were identified as'taxi-queens'. Regarding lifestyles of the
young girls special attention was afforded to leisure activities, the role of the consumer
market, domestic circumstances and future expectations. In the case of romantic
relationships the study focused on the type of relationship the girls are involved in, reasons
for their involvement, the nature and functions of romantic emotions, adolescent dating
patterns, sexual behaviour and sexual violence. Regarding lifestyles findings indicate that
leisure activities as well as the consumer market playa central role in the lives of these
young girls. Leisure activities not only provide pleasure but also function as an escape
mechanism from parental supervision, rules and interference. Young girls tend to
experience romantic relationships as particularly positive and within these relationships
sexuality represents a central component. Sexual activities appear to cornmense during
earlier stages of the dating process. Furthermore, such activities are kept secret from
parents due to fear of negative reactions and sex-related topics are seldom discussed with
parents. Sexual violence often forms a component of romantic relationships between
adolescent girls and boys. In conclusion the 'taxi-queen' relationship as a relatively unique
form of romantic relationship is demonstrated with reference to the experiences of three
young girls involved in such relationships. Recommendations for future research are made
on the basis of the findings of this study.
verhouding. 'n Kwalitatiewe metodologiese benadering is gevolg.
'taxi queens' geidentifiseer is.
betrokke is, die redes vir hul betrokkenheid, die aard en funksies van romantiese emosies;
as besonder positief beleef. Binne sodanige verhoudings verteenwoordig seksualiteit 'n

Mocenské postavení prvních Ronovců a jejich pozice v české středověké společnosti / Power of the First Generations of the Ronov Noble Family and Their Position Within Czech Mediaeval SocietyVáňa, Jan January 2014 (has links)
Diploma thesis Power of the First Generations of the Ronov Noble Family and Their Position Within Czech Mediaeval Society was dealing with the position and power of the first three generations of the representatives of Ronov noblemen in the direct line towards Hynek from Dubá. In the prosopographical part of the thesis the lines of testimony were analysed and these proved clearly that the maximum of their court career was occurring during the reign of Wenceslaus the First. This maximum is also reflected in the other part of the thesis - which is the analysis of possession- holding. At the age of Wenceslaus the First Ronov noblemen built up a vast area of their particular possessions in Northern Bohemia and gradually they were developing colonisation of this region. Even though Ronov noble family did not take up any posts at the court, the exception is the position of Budysin administrator, they created a very tight connection to Premyslid kings due to the common childhood with Wenceslaus the First and they also supported him politically and also militarily in his inner and foreign policy. After the death of Castoslov from Zitava the position of power in the direct family line began to deteriorate, the peak of power was now for Lichtenburg family. The minimum of the court career comes after their left the...

Le cas de la Punition Divine / From Narration to Representation : The Transfer of Literature Themes from Ancient Greek Literature into Greco-roman Art and Occidental Painting (15th-19th Century). The Case of the Divine Punishment.Painesi, Anastasia 10 December 2011 (has links)
Divine punishment constitutes a recurrent phenomenon in Greek mythology. The hubristic behaviour of vain and selfish individuals, who aspire either to compare themselves to the gods or to succeed them to the domination of the Cosmos, provokes a series of atrocious tortures inflicted by the Olympians to men and women, to humans and mythical creatures, to heroes, kings and even to other gods equally. The present PhD study examines the iconography of a variety of types of Divine Punishment in the Greek and Roman art and the occidental painting (15th-19th centuries). It analyses the interaction between the various works of art and the ancient, mediaeval and modern literary sources. It pinpoints the resemblances between the ancient themes and certain biblical or chivalrous episodes. It focuses finally on the influence wielded by the iconography of divine punishment in politics, society and religion, both in Antiquity and in modern times.

Here I Am And Here I’m Not: Queer Women’s Use Of Temporary Urban Spaces In Post-Katrina New OrleansHermannsdóttir, Vigdís María 15 May 2015 (has links)
This thesis builds on previous work on the relationship between queer identities and urban space. Drawing from an analysis of two recurring New Orleans-based queer women’s events, I examine how lesbians and queer women not only use but also actively produce social spaces of their own through participation in events organized specifically for lesbians and queer women. Using qualitative methods, I examine the ephemeral and transient quality of lesbian and queer women’s social spaces in post-Katrina New Orleans and the processes through which such spaces come into being. I argue that lesbian and queer women’s production of ephemeral social spaces provides an opportunity to ground informal social networks in urban spatial locations, to sustain internal visibility, and to create embodied impressions of a cohesive community by emphasizing the role of the body, not geographic borders, for reimagining social territories in urban landscapes. Within this context, attention is given to the class-based and racial projects that affect the trajectory of contemporary queer urban space formation and queer women’s experiences therein.

La construction et la déconstruction des modèles de l'absolutisme éclairé dans l'Europe des Lumières / The construction and the deconstruction of models of the Enlightened absolutism in the Europe of enlightened philosophersBundalo, Anja 16 November 2018 (has links)
The French philosophers of the Age of Enlightenment, especially in the second part of the eighteenth century, endeavoured to specify the cases in which inequality and the limitations of freedom would be in accordance with natural laws in order to propose precepts for a blossoming life. By doing so, they opened the way to the formation of enlightened absolutism, a model of government that finds its legal foundations in the Natural Law Theory Developed largely part by Voltaire, who put it in the direct relation with the ideology of “classical” absolutism, the ideology of enlightened absolutism had as its principal goal the creation of a strong state. Having embraced the philosophers’ precepts, the “enlightened monarchs” or “philosopher kings” founded the evidence of such a policy on language, fashion, and especially on the confidence in a progress that France had been able to promote.

[en] Aaron s and Jeroboam s Calves: An Intertextuality Verification Analyzing Exodus 32,1-6 and I Kings 12,26-33 has the purpose not only to verify the existence of a broad intertextuality relations between Exodus 32,1-6 and I Kings 12,26-33 but also to present and demonstrate how this intertextuality relation occurs. This thesis is based using the synchronic method of narrative analysis. The reason to use narrative analysis is because the verification in how the text is presented and demonstrated has to consider the text itself in its final form. This work is focused to shad light in the study of intertextuality relations to or deriving meaning applied to the biblical texts not only proposing a clear concept and thesis but also to present the criteria of classification and manifestation as well. Verifying that there are interrelationships in both texts between Exodus 32,1-6 and I Kings 12,26-33 and to broaden the perspective in these intertextuality to every single verses in Exodus 32,1-6 and I Kings 12,26-33.
