Even if not includable in philosophy of science in its strict sense, the work of psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan (1901-1981) has plenty of typical thoughts concerning this branch of philosophy. However, the relation between his work and the philosophy of science from the intellectual environment in which Lacan has initiated his production, France on the first half of the twentieth century, in most cases, is unconsidered or partially considered. Although philosopher of science Émile Meyerson (1859-1933) had been cited in explicit and implicit manners in lacanian works many times, few publications were found about the relation between Meyerson’s work and Lacan’s. Aiming at a contribution to the analysis of this poorly investigated relation and at an indication of its possible repercussions, we here investigate convergences between Meyerson’s doctrine in his work “Identity and Reality” and Lacan’s productions between 1936 and 1953, as well as conditions to the lacanian appropriation of the referred doctrine. We concluded that this relation enlightens important points of “the first Lacan”, such as, for instance, his concept of imago, his notion of truth and his idea of the anthropomorphism in the natural sciences. We also concluded that this relation must be more investigated since it promises to enlighten certain points of the lacanian thought.

Caso e escrita : o que não cessa de não se escrever / The clinical case and writing : that which does not cease not to be written

Azenha, Conceição Aparecida Costa, 1967- 02 June 2013 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze a clinical case by theoretically expounding on the minimal difference between negation as a defense mechanism, and grammatical/linguistic negation. The strategy used is to discuss the case in the light of linguistic and psychoanalytic theories. It was essential to choose a path whereby the division of the subject by the unconscious and its effects for transmission could be considered. To this end, a distinction was made between cases and clinical vignettes, based on Jacques Lacan's concept of not-whole. The demand behind the patient's was being referred for treatment did "not know how to read." This demand was questioned, taking into account Freud's concepts of symptom and inhibition in their relationship with intellectual function and the affective process. The final considerations point to what is written and what is not written, in and about the clinic, when one is analyzing a case report / Doutorado / Linguistica / Doutora em Linguística

La politique contre l'objet : figures du sujet émancipé / Politics against object : figures of the emancipated subject

Bettinger, Matthieu 19 September 2015 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to question the relevance of object and subject categories in the political field, as tool for the analysis but also as props for action. The focus will be on showing that objects, namely, everything that comes to occupy a place in the political field, are the product of a subjective construction, which is carried out both individually and collectively : the world appears as a reality of objects only insofar as it is established through human perception and language.Subjectification processes will then be considered using the double criterion of opposition to world objects or of their strategic use. The central part of this thesis will afford the opportunity to adopt a pluridisciplinary approach : it will rest on psychoanalysis, philosophy, drawn mainly from the Works of J. Derrida and A. Badiou, writings on musical esthetics, as well as a theoretico-historical analysis of a few political movements, particularly Chinese Maoism and its French reception.

[en] THE DEVASTATION IN THE MOTHER-DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIP AS AN EFFECT OF THE FEMININE JOY / [pt] A DEVASTAÇÃO NA RELAÇÃO MÃE E FILHA COMO EFEITO DO GOZO FEMININO

GISELLE WENDLING RABELAIS 07 February 2017 (has links)
[en] This study intends to investigate and problematize the mother-daughter relationship, as long as it presents itself as troubled and passionate. To reflect about this type of relationship, Lacan treated it as a consequence of the feminine joy, using the term devastation. The essay approaches the difficulties and specificities of this relationship initially from the examination of Freud s considerations about the Oedipus complex as what concerns its location, from Oedipus complex to a subjective position in the sex partition. Afterwards, it approaches Lacan s indications about the feminine joy, as the joy that is not entirely covered by the standardize that comes from the Oedipus complex in a child. This joy would be the one which a woman cannot say anything about it, because there is no specific symbol of the feminine sex that would allow her to articulate knowledge and joy, such as it happens to the man. It is highlighted the difficulty in the mother-daughter relationship as a problematic identification, as soon as it is necessary to the girl to separate from her mother at the same time that she needs to identify herself with her mother.

Clinical uses of the letter : from saying-well to knowing-how-to-read

Pasqual, Leander 19 January 2016 (has links)
Lacan introduced the concept of the letter in his teaching in order to define the direction ofthe analytic cure. In this perspective, the definition of the letter is essential forpsychoanalysis. Nonetheless, the definition of the letter changed throughout the course ofhis teaching and this change of perspective implies a new conception of the clinic. As such,in this work we propose to study the different clinical uses of the letter in Jacques Lacan'steaching. Initially, it involved a representative usage of the letter, one which implies theproduction of meaning effects. At this moment, the letter and the signifier areindistinguishable. This use of the letter permits one to define psychoanalysis as a practiceof saying-well. Secondly, it involves the letters use of jouissance, which implies theproduction of senseless jouissance. This time, Lacan successfully distinguishes betweenletter and signifier. This use of the letter permits one to define psychoanalysis as a practiceof knowing-how-to-read. As such, saying-well and knowing-how-to-read designate twomodalities for the usage of the letter. The objective of this investigation is thus that ofdemonstrating that psychoanalysis is a practice of the letter.

Nihilismus, Sprache und Wahrnehmung : Zur Anthropologie Lacans und Merleau-Pontys

Kraus, Anja January 2000 (has links)
In my doctoral thesis, I diversify so-called deviant behavior of children by means of a critical concept of nihilism and lead them back to a certain intellectual origin, namely, to the idealistic thinking tradition, which leads to the Philosophy of Lack and Not. I see this philosophy in the theories of Lacan and Merleau-Pontys, diametrically opposed to the idealistic thinking tradition. Departing from the ineradicable non-consciousness of man, Merleau-Ponty works out the laws of perception and Lacan the laws of language. As I refer to these authors and to the Philosophy of Not, my investigation proceeds not simply from the human capacity to be educated, but from the fact that in certain cases this capacity is to be yet established. The Philosophy of Not, complemented by the methodology of a cartography of negative experiences developed by the artist Robert Smithson, open up new surprising theoretical approaches to (educational) practical challenges. Starting from the laws recognized by Merleau-Ponty and Lacan, an explanation and possible forms of dealing with nihilistic behavior can be derived.

Saint-Jevin, Alexandre 22 November 2014 (has links)
The analysis of Jacques Lacan’s machine theory will be one of the firstepistemology of cybernetic machine. It allows us to make links betweencontemporary psychoanalysis and cognitive sciences, and it enlightens theirhermeneutical exegesis particularities of the cybernetic machine’s conception at thesame time. In the light of cybernetics’ theories includind texts of Turing, Lacan readin cybernetic terms the Freudian concepts of psychic apparatus in order to includethe contributions of Saussurian and Levi-Straussian structuralism. Lacan presents apsychoanalytic reading of cybernetics based on philosophy, offering a Kanto-Bergsonian reading of the «theory of game», a Kierkegaardian feedback andAristotelian automatic. It allows him to reveal the epistemological importance of thepassage from a spatial conception of a mechanical located device to a timeconception of a logical machine without location, through the advent of Freudiantopography. Psychoanalysis changes from a theatrical metaphor into a unconsciousa s a factory. It enables Lacan to give a definition of virtual which is going toinfluence Deleuze’s thinking. The Lacanian Machine reveals the inhuman part of the humanity. Approche psychanalytique de la filiation dans la société antillaise à partir de la littérature antillaise / Psychoanalitic approach of filiation in the Antillean society from Antillean literature

Henry Hautefort, Omer Michèle 15 February 2014 (has links)
In this study we chose to address the issue of filiation in Antillean society by matching psychoanalysis and literature. We refer to three authors: Aimé Césaire, Edouard Glissant and Patrick Chamoiseau that marked the twentieth century by three movements: the Negritude, the Caribeanness and the Creoleness. The psychoanalytic approach refers to theories of Freud and Lacan. From the poetry and fiction we go back to the origin and myths, we explore the traces of filiation in names, laces, languages, we visit the genealogies of Mother Africa to the Founding Fathers: the Rebel, the primordial Maroon and the Storyteller. The purpose of the three authors is to enable a people to come to terms with its history whose genealogy was interrupted by the slave trade and slavery. The characters and theatrical fiction shall bear the work of developing the trauma, of remembering and transmission. Psychoanalysis shows us that what is transmitted is not only history but also unconscious contents. The Antillean peoples born of the slave system inherit a double antagonist filiation represented by the figures of master and slave. The economics of slavery put the mother at the center of family structure and abandoned the father to the role of genitor. We examined the Oedipal drama in this matrifocal organization.

In this political economy study, we aim to present a way of conceiving the economic subject through the psychoanalytic approach of Jacques Lacan. By such means, we seek to comprehend the characters which contemplate the subjectivity of the human and the complex relation of composition between the subject and the society. For that purpose, far beyond of an interdisciplinary approximation, we equip ourselves of the severe analytical implications which are set up from the Lacan¿s declaration on the existence of a structural homology between the Marxian concept of surplus value and his concept of plus-the-jouissance. We demonstrated, then, how to establish this homology and how it provides an analysis of the economic subjects in the capitalism. Finally, we undertook an assessment of the contemporary economic subjects in their consumer actions, in view of the mass production society settlement / Mestrado / Teoria Economica / Mestre em Ciências Econômicas

Les traces du féminin dans la poésie italienne contemporaine : les voix de Anedda, Cavalli, Gualtieri / The body in letter. Traces of the feminine in contemporary Italian poetry : the voices of Anedda, Cavalli and Gualtieri

Bergamin, Maddalena 24 November 2017 (has links)
The research presented here concerns the analysis of the poetic writing of three contemporary Italian women writers: Antonella Anedda (1955), Patrizia Cavalli (1947) and Mariangela Gualtieri (1951). We decided to approach this corpus on the basis of certain theories of Lacanian psychoanalysis. The starting hypothesis rests on the idea that poetic text, because of its particular status within language, needs to be examined on the basis of scrupulous reflection on the relation between the unconscious and language. We have developed a notion of poetic text that is based on two major approaches by Jacques Lacan, namely the unconscious as the space of the subject manque-à-être and the unconscious parlêtre. From this point on, we have defined the text as the place of coexistence of two distinct universes: that of the Symbolic, which refers to the incessant sliding of the subject on the chain of signifiers, and that of the Real, which is singular, opaque and indecipherable lalangue, which inhabits every speaking being. It has therefore proved necessary to question the issues of enunciation and interpretation in depth. The Lacanian concept of pas-tout, closely linked to the feminine question, has guided us in the formulation of an ethic of reading the text that aims not to neglect its real, corporeal and irreducible dimension. We then tested our approach through the analysis of the chosen poetic corpus. Examining the specific mode of enunciation of each of the three poets referred to has allowed us to give a voice to three major exemples of contemporary Italian poetry. The writings of Anedda, Cavalli and Gualtieri have thus established themselves not only as three completely original experiments in the panorama of Italian poetry of recent years, but above all as three complex and different answers in relation to the issues of contemporary subjectivity.
