Miloš Sovák a reedukace levorukých / Milos Sovak and the reeducation of the left-handen

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of left-handed retraining in the context of the research of Professor Miloš Sovák. It shows his contribution in this area and how he specifically contributed to the formation of teaching in the following years. The work is characterized by left-handedness, laterality. Examples of diagnostics of laterality of individual tests are given. In the theoretical part, the author also considers the breadth of the context of re-teaching not only the left-handed, where any violent re-learning can lead to consequences for life. In the practical part, a qualitative research was chosen, which is conducted on the basis of a semi-structured interview conducted with five respondents who answer open and closed questions about methods and approaches to their re-learning and their perception of the re- learning process. Research shows that there is no trait that is common to a smaller number of trainees, and therefore it is highly unlikely that there is a trait that would characterize a large group of trainees. The dissertation thesis points to a wide range of possibilities of therapeutic use with fairy-tale material and at the same time offers a concrete example of working with adolescents with educational problems. We worked with ten respondents, 5 boys and 5 girls who were clients of the Center for Educational Care. Based on the assumption that the fairy tale metaphor represents a non-threatening stimulus, the respondents were asked to formulate their own lives into a fairy tale. All participants were willing to work with a fairy-tale metaphor even on subjectively unpleasant topics, and in none of the stories did we encounter any significant resistance. The analysis of stories through Propp's morphology of the fairy tale brought a characteristic story of a child with an educational problem and at the same time proved to be a meaningful therapeutic tool. The analysis of the data through a narratively oriented approach inspired by McAdams and his identity as a life story yielded a demonstration of the identity of an adolescent with educational problems. An important outcome of the work is the evaluation of the internally experienced responsibility of this specific group of adolescents. [pt] Esta pesquisa examina as carreiras profissionais de atletas do iatismo por meio das suas histórias de vida. Usando como base teórica os estudos de narrativas, histórias e contação de histórias (storytelling), a pesquisa explora como velejadores e velejadoras atribuem sentido e narrativizam suas trajetórias profissionais. O estudo objetiva compreender quais histórias emergem das narrativas sobre as trajetórias de carreira de atletas de alto rendimento da Vela Esportiva. Em termos de procedimentos metodológicos, a pesquisa é qualitativa e os depoimentos foram recolhidos por meio de entrevistas. Buscou-se compreender as histórias relacionadas à construção da carreira esportiva, desde o primeiro contato com o esporte até o momento de conversão da carreira em profissional, considerando-se as transições vividas ao longo de todo o processo. Para a análise dos dados, procedeu-se a abordagem temática a partir da proposição de cinco temas explorados nas diferentes histórias narradas: (1) histórias sobre a origem; (2) histórias sobre o planejamento de carreira; (3) histórias de oportunidades; (4) histórias de desafios e superações; e (5) histórias de sucesso. Os dados apontam que a maioria dos atletas encontra dificuldades em manter a carreira profissional como meio de subsistência. Atribui-se grande importância ao contexto familiar e social como influência na introdução ao esporte. O ambiente familiar é destaque no que diz respeito à orientação e planejamento na trajetória profissional destes jovens velejadores. Observou-se que organizações e entidades, ligadas ao esporte, são presenças constantes no enfrentamento e desenvolvimento da carreira no iatismo. Este estudo revela desafios e conquistas enfrentadas na trajetória destes velejadores, e assim, contribuir para melhorias na gestão de carreira de alto rendimento no esporte. / [en] This research examines the professional careers of yachting athletes throughout their histories of life. Using as a theoretical basis the studies of narratives, stories and storytelling, the research explores how sailors attribute meaning and narrativize their professional journeys. The study aims to understand which stories emerge from the narratives about the career trajectories of high-performance sport sailing athletes. In terms of methodological procedures, the research is qualitative and the testimonies were collected through interviews. When conducting the interviews, we sought to understand the stories related to the construction of each career, from the first contact with the sport until the moment in which a professional career started, considering the transitions experienced throughout the process. For data analysis, thematic examination was carried out, based on the proposition of five themes addressed in the different narratives: (1) stories about the origin; (2) stories about career planning; (3) stories of opportunities; (4) stories of challenges and how those were met; and (5) success stories. The several pieces of data indicate that most athletes face difficulties maintaining their professional careers while having to make ends meet. Great importance is attributed to the family and social context as influence factors, regarding the introduction to the sport. The family environment is highlighted when it comes to guidance and planning in the professional trajectory of these young sailors. It was observed that organizations and entities linked to sports are constantly present on the development of their careers in yachting. This study reveals challenges and achievements faced in the trajectory of these sailors, and thus contribute to improvements in high performance career management in the sport.

Bakgrund: Globalt lever 55 miljoner personer med demenssjukdom. Mötet mellan sjuksköterskan och patienten med demenssjukdom sker i nästintill alla vårdsammanhang. Sjuksköterskan kommer i sitt arbete stöta på etiska dilemman gällande vårdandet, samt ha en viktig roll i att vårda patienten enligt ett personcentretat förhållningssätt för att förebygga lidande.Syfte: Att beskriva sjuksköterskans erfarenheter av personcentrerad vård vid vårdandet av personer med demenssjukdom.  Metod: En litteraturöversikt med kvalitativ design och induktiv ansats. Datainsamling gjordes i databaserna CINAHL, MEDLINE och PubMed som genererade i 13 vetenskapliga artiklar. Dataanalys av artiklarna gjordes enligt Fribergs femstegsmodell.Resultat: Resultatet nämner tre teman: vikten av livsberättelsen, kompetenser och erfarenheter och organisation och dess påverkan på omvårdnaden. Till detta tillhör två subteman till varje tema. Slutsats:  Examenarbetet visar att sjuksköterskor möter svårigheter i vårdandet av personer med demenssjukdom. Dessa personer finns i nästintill alla vårdmiljöer, därav bör vården vara anpassad utefter varje enskild persons behov. Det framkom att sjuksköterskan bör ta sig tiden att försöka förstå personens livsberättelse, vikten av utbildning samt organisationens påverkan och hur den kan gynna vårdandet. Sjuksköterskan har en viktig del i det personcentrerande vårdandet för att främja personer med demenssjukdoms hälsa. / Background: Globally 55 million people are living with dementia. The meeting between the nurse and a patient with dementia happens in almost all care environments. The nurse will encounter ethical dilemmas regarding the care of the patient with dementia. Nurses have an important role where they need to give person-centred care to prevent unnecessary suffering.  Aim: To describe the nurse's experiences of person-centred care when caring for people with dementia.Method: A literature review with qualitative design and inductive approach. Data collection was done in the databases CINAHL, MEDLINE and PubMed which generated in 13 scientific articles. Data analysis of the articles was done according to Friberg's five-step model.Results: The results mention three themes: the importance of the life story, competences and experiences and the organization and its impact on nursing. To this belong two subthemes to each theme.Conclusion: The thesis shows that nurses face difficulties in caring for people with dementia. These people can be found in almost all care environments, hence the care should be adapted to the needs of each individual person. It emerged that the nurse should take the time to try to understand the person's life story, the importance of education and the influence the organization have and how it can benefit the care. The nurse has an important part in person-centered care which is to promote the health of people with dementia.

玩大型多人角色扮演線上遊戲(MMORPGs)的行為在國內日漸普遍,但是許多人玩線上遊戲的現象卻經常被社會大眾和媒體報導認為是一種負面社會問題,並將玩遊戲與遊戲成癮作直接的連結。許多成癮研究也強化了「持續玩線上遊戲的行為,最終容易導致病態行為成癮的結果」之因果邏輯。但是,事實上許多玩家經常自行決定進入、持續玩,和退出一款線上遊戲,並非最終都會走向遊戲成癮的宿命。因此,本研究的主要目的即在於透過遊戲玩家的個人線上遊戲生命歷程,重新檢視遊戲「成癮」以及「玩線上遊戲便注定導致病態成癮」的邏輯。 運用深度訪談和參與觀察方法,描繪出線上遊戲玩家的長期線上遊戲生命歷程,再試圖詮釋他們離開、持續玩、退出遊戲這些投入程度的變化是受到哪些因素影響,以及在什麼脈絡之下做出的決定。本研究發現許多玩家曾經意識到自己「成癮」於玩線上遊戲,但是只是階段性的反常狀態,甚至是可以接受的一種生活方式。玩家們不只是受到線上遊戲設計的被動牽引而長時間持續投入大量心力玩遊戲,他們在玩遊戲的過程中,受到遊戲設計、玩家社群、生活脈絡和個人對於這些因素的價值判斷等多元因素的影響,持續調整和監控自己的遊戲行為和投入程度,從中協調出最能夠滿足他們的多元愉悅感。另外,當他們對於自己玩遊戲的投入程度感到疑惑時,傾向於尋求玩家社群的協助。因此,本研究認為玩線上遊戲導致病態成癮的論述須要被重新檢視,因為許多被認定為病態成癮的現象只是線上遊戲玩家生命過程中的片段現象。 / Playing massive multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGs) has become a popular activity in Taiwan, but it has often been regarded as a social problem, linking to game addiction, by the mass media and the public. Many addiction researches have also enforced the logic that “pathological game addiction is the most likely result of continuous online gaming activity”. However, many gamers in fact often begin, continue, and quit playing an online game according to their own will, instead of ending up as a pathologic game addict. Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to re-approach game “addiction” and the logic of “online gamers are destined to be addicted” through gamers' online gaming life story. Using methods of depth interview and participant observation to depict gamers’ long-term online gaming life story, this research tries to interpret under what social context and influencing factors, do gamers change their attitude and effort to playing online games. Findings of this research tells us that many online gamers claim to have been “addicted” to online gaming some time in the past, but the “addiction” is only a certain stage in their long-term gaming life, and even regarded as a life-style by some. Online gamers do not continuously put a lot of effort to playing games just because they are attracted by the features of online game design. During the course of game play, they are persistently influenced by game design, gaming community, social context, and their own judgment of values. Also, they often self-monitor and re-adjust their gaming styles and effort, in order to meet their needs of multiple pleasures. Moreover, when gamers become confused of how they should re-adjust their gaming activities, they tend to search for assistance from the gaming community. Therefore, this research believes that the problematic logic of pathological game addiction being the final destined result of gaming should be reconsidered and understood from other perspectives, because many phenomenon currently considered pathologic addiction, may only be a short period or segment of gamers’ normal long-term online gaming life.

生命的斷裂與轉化:一位癌症病人之敘說及其陶養意涵之探究

本文以癌症病人慧心的生命故事敘說作為探究人之自我陶養的取俓。以探問生命主體如何面對「死亡」的威脅,以及自身對「死亡」之憂懼為起點,以生命故事訪談的方式,自2005年至2007年進行三次訪談。旨在回溯與探究主體歷經種種足堪造成生命斷裂的重大事件—病痛及死亡威脅,重新詮釋、乃至轉化自身生命意義的自我陶養過程。 本文以人生如歌的意象將章節結構分為三部分。第一篇《前奏曲》可視為進入慧心生命故事前的準備,共分為兩章。第一章「緒論」 從研究者之生命經驗出發,回溯自身對死亡與生命意義之怖畏與好奇,並探究自病痛將主體推至多重乃至終極的斷裂(死亡)中,主體創造與尋求出口的「轉化」與「超越」的能力與可能性。第二章「生命的陶養」則提出陶養理論,論述自古典陶養理論對「人之本質」、「自我陶養」,「個人與他者及世界的關係(從異化到回返自身)」的討論,到後現代陶養理論所持之「去目的」、「自我學習」、「自我理解」與「自我創造與轉化」的觀點。第三節「病痛的生命故事敘說」則解釋本文之研究方法、研究目的與問題,並簡介訪談對象之背景。 第二篇 《如歌的行版》包括有三章。第三章「慧心生命歷程分析」首先描述三次訪談歷程與內容,並從「時間性」之向度分析文本結構,第三節則描繪文本中所浮顯之敘說者慧心形貌,並給出一慧心生命故事速寫,筆者並以同樣身為女性的、女兒的、妻子的、思索生命意義與死亡者、以及研究者之不同角度與身份,後設地剖析自身與慧心之間的關係,以及對其文本詮釋角度所帶來的影響。第五章之後則開始正式進入文本解析與討論,探究慧心在生命不同時期的自我發展與轉化過程。第四章「自我的澄明與追尋」主述慧心在染患病痛(癌症)前的生命歷程中,如何在追隨模仿他者與婚姻生活中迷失與覺醒,最後藉由投身於藝術世界之行動來追尋自我。「尋找我之所是的生命圖像」的生命追求因而浮顯,並貫穿於三份敘說文本中,成為其終極關懷。第五章「病痛的挑戰」則解析慧心面對病痛與死亡威脅所帶來的挑戰,成為自己的英雄,並如何以信仰為最大的精神支持系統與治療方式,逐步重新詮釋病痛、死亡與生命意義,由生命圖像由「悲劇英雄」漸轉化為「修行者」。 在第三篇 《無名之歌》裡,第六章「療癒」以「生命主控權的重獲」與「愛與願」兩節解析慧心的療癒與轉化歷程。藉由1.將病因自我歸因、2.重新掌握對病因、治療方式、待治療對象的詮釋權、3.自身的修行、4.關懷他者、5.重詮苦痛經驗等五項要素,慧心得以將「治療」轉為具積極性的「自療」,因而重獲生命的主控權。同時,她也得以化解原伏藏於內心身處的恐懼,將其轉化為對他者的大愛,從自利轉為利他的願力進而萌發,成為懷抱大愛與大願之「願者」。第七章「成為一個人」則綜合整析慧心自我陶養的歷程,尤重其在歷經病痛與死亡威脅後自我陶養之可能性與內涵。本章並就「存在目的」、「人生觀」、「對病痛的詮釋」、「人我關係」、「新世界之生成」、「生死觀」五向度,討論慧心從「悲劇英雄」、至「修行者」到「願者」的轉化歷程中在此五向度上的轉變,並融塑出屬慧心之「信、愛、願、行」的生命特質。其次,本章並根據研究結果形構一慧心自我陶養模式,包括下列七項因素:1.「對界限處境的體驗與正視」、2.「調適變動的策略」、3.「新世界的構作」、4.「自我解離與自我反思能力」、5.「非線性、盤旋而生的陶養歷程」、6.「宗教作為支持系統的輔助與啟明」、7.「敘說、重詮與創化」。本章最後則進一步根據本研究發現進一步省思陶養教育實踐的可能性,並特別針對生死(生命)教育的進行提出建議。 / By interviewing a cancer patient, Huai-shih’s life story, this thesis aims at exploring how the subject re-interprets the meaning of disruptions in her life, including illness and the ultimate disruption-death, and how she transforms the meaning of life. Research data were collected over two years from the year of 2005 to 2007. All these so called disruptions evolve Huai-shih’s life transformation and constitute the process of Self Bildung. Inspired by the metaphor that life is as a graceful melody, the whole thesis is divided into three volumes. The first volume-“ Prelude ” can be concerned as a preparation before going into Huai-shih’s life story. Three chapters are included in it. The first chapter traces back from the researcher’s anxiety and curiosity of life and death from her own life experience, and intend to enquire the possibilities of the subject seeking for transcendence. The second chapter aims at the theory of Bildung, several concepts such as“ human nature”, “self-Bildung”, “relationship between self and others and the outer world ”, “self-understanding” , “self- learning” and “self-transformation are discussed. The history of life education in Taiwan is also articulated in this chapter. The third chapter is to present the research method, research purpose and research question. Our interviewee, Huai-shih is also briefly introduced in this chapter. The second volume is named as “Andante Cantabile”. The fourth chapter analyzes and constitutes the structure of text and portrays a vivid image of Huai-shih’s character. The fifth chapter analyzes the process of how Huai-shih struggled to find her self-identity from the marital relationship before she contracted breast cancer. A main life picture of a subject who works hard to find the answer of who I am has emerged and become Huai-shih’s ultimate concern. The sixth chapter analyzes how Huai-shih adopting her attitudes to face illness and the threaten of death. With the empowerment of religion, she reinterprets the meaning of illness, death and life, and initiates new life belief and inner power. Here Huai-shih is not a “tragic hero” as she named herself before, she has already transformed into a “practicer” who dedicated herself into the faith of Buddhism and practice. Three chapters are included in the third volume. The seventh chapter focuses on how Huai-shih re-controlling her life and digging out that there is a strong love inside her life. She learns to love not only people around her and also strangers again and wishes all human beings can find their happiness and leave far away from sufferings。“Self attribution”, “Re-interpreting the cause of illness and the meaning of therapy ”, “Self-practice”, “Caring for others”, “Re-interpreting personal suffering and illness experiences ”are main elements that enforcing the process of life transformation. She becomes the one who has love and willing of helping others. In the eighth chapter, with the following elements a model of self-Bildung of Huai-shih is constituted : 1.“Facing up to the boundary situations”, 2.“ Adjustment strategies of changes ”, 3.“Constitution of new worlds”, 4.“ The ability of self-detachment and self-reflectoin ”, 5.“A non-linear, spiral process of self-Bildung ”, 6.“ The illumination and support of religion”, 7.“ Narrative, repretation, and creation”. Through this clarification and analyzing of life and death phenomena, the conclusion intends to enrich the field of life and death education and create the possibilities for learners to proceed their own self-learning and understanding from others’ life stories.

Perceptions of social workers regarding life story work with children in child and youth care centres / Kathrine Helen Gutsche

This study focuses on social workers‟ perceptions regarding life story work with children in child and youth care centres in South Africa. Life story work is an established form of intervention utilized by social workers with children in care mostly in the United Kingdom. Limited research has been conducted on the subject in South Africa. The research hoped to discover how social workers perceive life story work as a therapeutic intervention technique to be utilized with children in child and youth care centres. Qualitative descriptive design was conducted inductively, through semi-structured interviews and one focus group discussion. A total of six registered social workers at registered child and youth care centres in the Northern and Southern suburbs of Cape Town in the Western Province of South Africa were purposefully selected to participate in this study. All of the interviews and the focus group were audiorecorded. Recordings were transcribed by the researcher to ascertain certain emerging themes and categories. Thematic data analysis was utilized to transform the transcribed data into meaningful information. The principles and strategies for enhancing the trustworthiness of the data were done through crystallisation. The findings of the study revealed that social workers initially perceive life story work as time-consuming and are unaware of what the concept truly entails, but once examples were shown to the social workers, they recognised that they were using some of the activities already and perceived life story work as valuable, effective and essential in child and youth care centres. Life story work was perceived as useful for identity formation, a sense of belonging, relationship-building and family reunification services, for example. It was discovered that the social workers were utilising aspects of life story work, but that there is a shortage of social workers to act as facilitators to possibly complete life story work processes with each child in child and youth care centres. The recommendation was, therefore, made that childcare workers be trained in life story work in order for it to be implemented in child and youth care centres effectively. Further research studies were, therefore, recommended to ascertain how life story work could be practically implemented as a holistic programme with the children in child and youth care centres. / MA (Psychology), North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2014

Thesis with the title "Life stories and professional careers of women headmasters of vocational high schools" deals with professional life of women headmasters of vocational high schools and analyzes this professional life. Per this analysis is detected, what is the benefit of these headmasters for school and if they promote a development of the school. Narrative analysis was used on this research.Beside the research there are answered other questions, which are related to professional life and are associated with the primary research question. There are described the phases of professional life and there are stated the effects, which influence the decision making of the headmasters. In the conclusion of research the headmasters alone evaluate their actions in position of headmaster.The primary research question is answered, how it results from research, all headmasters are benefit for their school. Schools, which were guided by them, had evolved and it is them, who are the reason of its growth. Recommendations for futher research is analysis of professional men headmasters.

The theoretical part of this work presents the importance of the family during adolescence as it related to specific factors which may have an impact on whether juveniles commit the offence or not. The importance of the family environment was the basis for the design, development and implementation of psychosocial program "Together". In the case of juveniles' committing crimes, the relationships between family members are even more at risk, which appears to be at risk for further development and upbringing. The aim of the program was to strengthen the juvenile's personality and relationships in their family. The purpose of the program activities, within a safe environment to allow juvenile offenders and their parents to share some important information from their life experiences to help with reflection.
