Etika filantropie / Ethics of Philanthropy

Kroupa, Jan January 2020 (has links)
Charles University Faculty of Humanities Applied Ethics Ethics of Philanthropy Annotation of Doctoral Thesis Mgr. Jan Kroupa Supervised by: prof. PhDr. Jan Sokol, CSc., Ph.D. 2020 ANNOTATION The increase in private wealth in our cultural circuits has been unprecedented which fosters growth in private philanthropy. Charitable giving has been on a rise throughout the western world, including the Czech Republic, where we can document long-term and steady growth in both the number of charitable gifts as well as in the amount donated. In parallel, on the beneficiary side, there is a stabilized sector of well-established civic organizations covering the standard array of charitable topics. We may state that following 1989, the Czech civic sector has been revived, showing - despite all challenges - most signs of healthy maturing. In this paper, we attempted to capture the cultural and social context of philanthropy from the point of view of practical philosophy. We examined the rich roots of philanthropy and described the processes of its institutionalization until now. We paid special attention to describing the current situation of philanthropic giving in the Czech Republic. On basis of the above, we debated some of the dilemmatic questions of today's philanthropy, such as selecting the beneficiary and donor...

Financování humanitárních neziskových organizací se zaměřením na Člověka v tísni / Funding humanitarian non-profit organizations with a focus on People in Need

Typlová, Jarmila January 2020 (has links)
The main purpose of this thesis is to describe function of non-profit organizations, answer a question if these organizations are sufficiently financed and what is their place in society when there is no help from a state. In this text I will write about humanitarian non-governmental non- profit organizations and their unquestionable place in society. The goal of this text is to answer question on their fundraising, who supports them, how are the resources used and in general if the resources are spent efficiently. I will focus on non-profit organization People in need, its financing and relationship to the civil sector. The reason why I have chosen this topic is my interest in non-profit organization and humanitarian organizations in general - the criticism and skepticism towards these organizations was one of the reasons why I have decided to research about non-profit organizations. With regard to the length of work I will also briefly describe progression of People in need since its foundation and its fundraising by the Czech Republic.

Hör inget, ser inget och säger inget : En kvalitativ undersökning om idéburna organisationers syn på obenägenheten att avlägga vittnesmål i marginaliserade områden

A. Kader, Roweida, Abdullahi Ali, Kausar January 2020 (has links)
Residents in marginalized areas tend to show a lower level of confidence in the criminal justice system and carry out police reports and testimonies to the criminal justice system to a lesser extent than residents in other areas. In this scientific essay, a qualitative study is conducted to analyze the disinclination to leave testimonies and report crimes in marginalized areas, along with researching possible ways to improve the residents relationship with the criminal justice system. The theoretical framework for this study consists of Žižeks theory of violence, territorial stigma and social exclusion. The sample group for the study is advocates in non-profit organizations operating in marginalized areas. Using a semi-structured interview method, this study’s empirical findings reveals that a critical view of the criminal justice system, lack of confidence in the criminal justice system, ambivalent feelings about the residential area and mass medias stigmatizing effects are believed to cause a reluctance to cooperate with the criminal justice system in marginalized areas. Furthermore, our findings show that an admittance of the existence of racism within the justice system, increased communication, cultural competence, and safe meeting places are believed to improve the relationship between the residents and the criminal justice system.

Organisationskultur – från ideell till kommersiell : En kvalitativ studie om organisationskultur i en organisation med ideell, professionell och kommersiell idrott

Holm, Elin, Kevesäter, Mårten January 2020 (has links)
Historically, sports in Sweden have been practiced either according to an amateur ideal for the purpose of combating ill-health or and in accordance with the athletes own sports interest. Since its establishment, sport has followed social development and adapted accordingly. When the amateur rule was removed in 1967, the sport underwent a change towards professionalization. It is primarily sports organizations that compete at the highest level and with a focus on team sports that have embraced this professionalization. The professionalization meant that employees in sports organizations were paid a salary and that the athletes could make money from their sports. Development in sport has since continued in line with society and commercialization has become a phenomenon as well as a lasting element that has taken over parts of the power in the sports world. This has created different cultural values in sports.  We now talk about non-profit -, professional - and commercial sports. This study investigates whether these values can work together within an elite organization and what tensions may arise between them. The study is a qualitative case study in which three semi-structured interviews have been conducted. The analysis was based on Schein's organizational culture model, which focuses on the levels of artifacts, espoused beliefs and values and basic underlying assumptions. The result showed that organizational culture is shaped and integrated by the different cultural values.

Role nestátního neziskového sektoru v oblasti penitenciární a post-penitenciární péče / The role of nongovernmental sector in the penitentiary and post-penitentiary care

Pilátová, Soňa January 2015 (has links)
Criminal recidivism rate has been increasing till 1990 in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is also on one of the leading positions in the prison population index list of countries. These two indicators should work as a red alert for us that our justice policies and the system of criminal prevention do not work effectively in the long run. We consider it important then that the increased attention should be paid to the whole system, the programs should be evaluated and the weak spots should be identified. Hence in this work we are looking at the topic form the structural-functional perspective. Using stakeholder analysis methods we identify the key actors of the field. The actors are divided into three basic sectors: governmental sector, market and the third sector. We then focus on the third sector and its' role in the penitentiary and post-release care with special attention to the relations and connections with the governmental sector. The weak spots and the examples of successful cooperation of the two sectors are explored with the tools of the social network analysis. The research results into the functional analysis of the role of the non-profit organizations in the field. Key findings of the research are formulated into the recommendations for stakeholder from both the third and the...
