Samarbete eller samverkan, samtal eller dialog? : En kvalitativ studie av interaktionen mellancivilsamhällesorganisationer och kommunen inom socialthållbarhetsarbete i Malmö / Cooperation or collaboration, conversation or dialogue? : A qualitative study of the interaction between civil society organizations and the municipality in social sustainability work in Malmö

Olsen, Elinor, Stanley, Paulina January 2022 (has links)
Cross-sectoral collaboration has become an increasingly important element in the organization of public services and in municipal sustainability work. This essay studies the interaction between the municipality and civil society organizations in the field of social sustainability work in the city of Malmö. Civil society organizations have a unique social position as they work closer to people than the municipality does. The method is based on interviews with respondents from the municipal level and from various civil society organizations. The essay aims to shed light on perceived difficulties and opportunities for improvement in collaboration and interaction between the parties. The results from the interviews show that the experienced difficulties revolve around perceived distance, attitudes, structural problems and the perceived role of each party. Lack of trust, varying views on competence and perceptions of who is considered a legitimate performer of social sustainability work characterize perceived obstacles for optimal collaboration. Potential areas for improvement include a more continuous direct dialogue with civil society organizations outside specific projects. It also includes better coordination regarding collaboration with civil society organizations, as well as a changed view of the civil society organizations' knowledge, competence and role.

Vinstdrivande och ideella organisationer / For-Profit and Non-profit organizations

Arman, Bahar January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this research looks into the evolution of for-profit and non-profit organizational sustainability reports, to better understand how sustainability reporting has evolved as regulations have changed from voluntary to compulsory. Furthermore, to investigate how firms meet stakeholders' information needs in their sustainability reports. In doing so, the author studies sustainability reports of H&M Group years 2016/2020 and Unicef Sweden years 2017/2020. According to the purpose of the study, it is relevant to choose a qualitative method. Qualitative content analysis according to Bryman and Bell (2019) is based on analyzing documents via quantification of the document's content. Unlike quantitative methods with qualitative methods, it will be possible to create a deeper understanding of sustainability reporting, linked to the study's research question and purpose. Between 2016 and 2020, the organization's sustainability reports have improved for both for-profit H&M and non-profit Unicef. Organizations have worked with economical sustainability, environmental sustainability and social sustainability. Because the chosen companies differ in their operation and business model, the development of sustainability reports of Unicef Sweden and H&M Group can be seen differently. Organizations' concern for the environment can be noticed in their sustainability reports. For instance in Unicef Sweden avoids traveling for meetings alternatively they are performing all their meetings online to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. At the same time, H&M Group has mentioned in their sustainability reports the use of recycled raw materials to reduce the impact of their productions. Respective organizations tried to meet stakeholders' information needs through interactions and communication with both internal and external stakeholders. Unicef Sweden has been more considerate for their employees by having standardized routines according to the organization's sustainability reports.

Sustainability in non-profit organizations : Exploring drivers, challenges, and opportunities / Hållbarhetsarbete inom icke vinstridvande organisationer : En undersökning av drivkrafter, utmaningar och möjligheter

Forsberg Meinhart, Walter January 2023 (has links)
Title: Sustainability in non-profit organizations. Exploring drivers, challenges, and opportunities This study explores the drivers, challenges, and opportunities that non-profit organizations face when adopting sustainability practices. By focusing on the drivers, challenges, and opportunities, the study investigates what motivates these organizations to adopt sustainability practices, challenges, and unique opportunities.  The method chosen for the study has enabled an in-depth analysis using triangulation of the organization's sustainability information and interviews. These have illustrated a complex interplay of cultural, strategic, collaborative, and institutional factors driving sustainability efforts. For example, resource constraints were consistently mentioned in interviews as a predominant challenge, whereas organizational documents pointed towards collaborative endeavors as a critical solution. This dual perspective underscores the balance between challenges and solutions in sustainability work. The findings indicate that sustainability in non-profit organizations is subject to change, influenced by internal dynamics, including the alignment with core objectives and the necessity to maintain societal relevance. External pressures, such as expectations from stakeholders such as donors, volunteers, and regulatory bodies, further shape these initiatives. These organizations encounter challenges, including resource limitations and knowledge gaps, which they address through collaborative initiatives and educational endeavors. Opportunities arising from sustainability include enhanced member engagement and environmental impact mitigation. This research portrays sustainability as an ongoing process with challenges and opportunities, emphasizing the importance of integrating sustainability into operational strategies.

Leboucher, Marion 04 1900 (has links)
Since the 2000s, “violence against women” (VAW) has raised political interest on an unprecedented scale. This exposure is the result of feminist demands and struggles. But it is also the result of an institutional history which is at the heart of this research. The focus of this thesis is the expanding role of the state in regulating the protection of gender-based abuse victims. The research takes the standpoint of social services within nonprofit organizations. It analyzes the costs of VAW protection policies and how they reproduce gender oppression. These policies are analyzed through a materialist reflection on “institutionalized protection” (Brown, 1995) and by considering nonprofit work with victims first and foremost as care work. This thesis provides three levels of analysis: public policies, the relations between the State and nonprofit organizations, and finally, on a more tangible level, I analyze social work practices. This research is based upon the monographs of four non-profit organizations: supporting sex workers and assisting women victims of domestic abuse in France and Quebec. From a methodological perspective, this research combines narrative interviews of the organizations’ workers and head of staff, with a literature review of policies governing their work. The study of funding shows that nonprofit organizations are used as tools to implement public policies. The comparison highlights different strategies and differentiated responses from organizations. Organizations’ reliance on public funding restrains social work. The administrative burden limits the part of care pivotal to social work. The thesis demonstrates further that institutionalization of policies on VAW leads to a restriction of the rights to assistance and protection. Political awareness of gender-based violence falls within broader reassessments of issues such as marital pressure and the policing of women’s sexuality. But when it comes to state action, it tends to be conflated to social risk and crime.

Arbetsrelaterad stress i ideella organisationer : Krav, kontroll och socialt stöd i ett ideellt sammanhang

Larsson Zakrisson, Elina, Schött, Ellen January 2024 (has links)
In Sweden, stress-related diagnoses linked to burnout are increasing, and research from other countries shows that employees in non-profit organizations experience high levels of stress. There are only a few Swedish studies examining work-related stress among employees in non-profit organizations. The purpose of the study was therefore to examine work-related stress and its relationship with gender, age, and the dimensions of the Job-demand-control-social-support model in this group, and to investigate to what extent these factors could explain variation in work-related stress. Questionnaires to measure the dimensions were collected from a total of 148 participants, 120 of whom were women. The analysis showed correlations between work-related stress and demand, control and social support, and that demand and social support could explain variation in work-related stress. This indicates both similarities and differences between employees in non-profit organizations in Sweden and abroad. The results show that employees in non-profit organizations need to be studied more to create an understanding of conditions and challenges, both compared to other sectors and other countries.

Eriksson, Marcus, Freberg, Markus January 2022 (has links)
This study deals with how sports clubs operate with digitized marketing instruments and with the help of research efforts, produce a digitization strategy to increase the number of club members. Sport clubs today are experiencing a negative trend which concerns a dropout problem amongst primarily younger members of the sports clubs. The study does not aim to treat this problem of hope from the perspective of children and young people. Instead the focus is aimed towards recruiting adults to play organized sports. How are sport clubs working with their marketing currently? And how can sports clubs in the sports and association activities work with the help of digital marketing, to attract adults to start playing sports again? A qualitative study with semi-structured interviews with representatives of five sports clubs and RF SISU has been conducted.  The conclusions that have emerged for this study, based on emipirine and a comprehensive analysis are among other things, that there is no clear strategy for attracting active senior members. It is more focused on retaining children and young people. What has emerged is also that sports associations use social media to a certain extent, mainly to sign the activities by, for example, announcing when matches are, or results from them. The sports associations use digital marketing, mainly as a tool to promote the brand and also derive it from WOM.

The absence of accounting requirements in the Swedish non-profit sector and its impact on stakeholders

Erlandsson, Sandra January 2024 (has links)
Recently, the Swedish media have highlighted several cases of misuse of grants by non-profit organizations. This attention gave rise to the idea for this thesis. Non-profit organizations have no economic interest and should instead aim to protect the interests oftheir members. They play an important role in civil society, which is why various authorities can award them grants to support their activities. However, it has been discovered that some organizations misuse the grants and use the money for completely different things than the stated purpose. In Sweden, there is no law regulating non-profit organizations. In terms of accounting, also, not all organizations meet the requirements to be covered by the Swedish accounting act. This means that for many non-profit organizations there are no accounting obligations. The aim of this thesis is therefore to examine how the absence of an accounting regulation affects different stakeholders and to assess the role of accounting requirements in addressing scandals in light of stakeholder thinking. Interviews were conducted with stakeholders such as various grant-giving authorities and reviewing authorities. The results show that the majority of them feel that they have been and are affected by this in some way. The main reason is that the authorities have not been able to carry out proper controls on the non-profit organizations because they have not received enough information. The fact that not all non-profit organizations are covered by the accounting act means that they do not prepare information that many stakeholders would consider important in the control process. This in turn increases the risk of failing to detect errors and frauds. To meet stakeholders' information needs and reduce the risk of frauds and scandals, more requirements need to be placed on the non-profit organizations.
