Lines of Thought : drawing seeing talking feelingCosta, Beatriz January 2022 (has links)
/Drawing/ is a noun, /drawing/ is a verb. A drawing is a finished visual expression, but it’s also an action: the exploration and expression of a thought on a surface. What if we communicated more through drawings? What if we could ~read~ them? What if we could name lines and say words about why we like them? And what if everyone felt empowered to do it? “Lines of Thought” is a graphic essay about Visual Literacy and Graphic Communication. A theory and practice book to enable people to draw, appreciate images and develop aesthetic taste and critique. This project comes from my own passion for drawing, visual culture, and education in the graphic arts. I wish to share this passion with a broad audience by exploring philosophically what it takes to draw and see images, how this should not be a skill of a few and make it more democratic.

The Rhetoric Of The Regional Image Interpreting The Visual Products Of Regional PlannningTorres, Alissa Barber 01 January 2010 (has links)
The Rhetoric of the Regional Image: Interpreting the Visual Products of Regional Planning investigates the manner in which visual conventions and visual contexts of regional visioning scenarios affect their interpretation by urban and regional planners, who use visual communication to meet the technical and rhetorical demands of their professional practice. The research assesses Central Florida‘s ―How Shall We Grow?‖ regional land use scenario using focus groups and interviews with planning professionals, a corresponding survey of community values, and rhetorical analysis to explore the ―How Shall We Grow?‖ scenario as persuasive communication. The Rhetoric of the Regional Image proposes specific recommendations for technologybased visual communication and scenario development in urban and regional planning practice, while contributing to literature in technical communication and rhetoric by examining planners‘ professional communication within their discourse community

STORYTELLING & UPPLEVELSE : En analys av Liptons och Kusmi Teas kommunikation / STORYTELLING & EXPERIENCE : An analysis of Lipton and Kusmi Tea’s communicationMoëll, Jeanna January 2023 (has links)
This paper examines how Lipton and Kusmi Tea use storytelling and the customers' experience of tea in their digital communication. The usage of storytelling was found by examining their Instagram accounts, one packaging design and their about us texts. These aspects of the brands were analysed through a semiotic, a narrative and a discourse analysis. The findings were then compared with the customers' experience of tea, which was determined by a survey with 60 Swedish participants. The results show that both companies use storytelling in all aspects of their marketing, meanwhile the experience determined by the survey is used in a wider range by Kusmi Tea.

Visual Communication in Driving Social Innovation for Disadvantaged groups in Nami / Visual Communication in Driving Social Innovation for Disadvantaged groups in NamiNhundu, Mufaro January 2023 (has links)
This master’s thesis aims to explore the potential of visual communication as a powerful tool for promoting change and impact in Namibia with a focus on sustainable agriculture and food security. The study analyzes how graphic design and visual communication may effectively explain best practices for sustainable farming and inspire young adults in rural communities to engage with agriculture through empirical research. The study employs a Research Through Design (RtD) methodology to answer the following question: How can design help vulnerable communities and promote long-term food security solutions in Namibia through subsistence farming or agriculture? The study’s findings highlight the importance of design in promoting sustainable agriculture by raising awareness, empowering communities, and advocacy for policy changes. Through its innate ability to attract and captivate audiences, visual communication may successfully distribute information about sustainable farming techniques and highlight their benefits. This thesis demonstrates how appealing visual narratives may stimulate young people’s curiosity, build passion and inspire them to learn and embrace sustainable agricultural methods. The conclusion of this thesis suggests key recommendations for improving disadvantaged group’s access to resources and training. Land reform policies that favor small-scale farmers and support their subsistence farming efforts which are critical for guaranteeing food security. Furthermore, resolving water scarcity and boosting access to irrigation systems are critical considerations for Namibia’s sustainable agricultural practices to empower disadvantaged groups and encourage positive change. /
Examensarbetet är utfört vid Institutionen för teknik och naturvetenskap (ITN) vid Tekniska fakulteten, Linköpings universitet
