Abstract: The latest changes in Education's Laws for vocational training got aimed at meeting the demands of labor required by modern production system. The study concluded that the restructuring of the curriculum for the competency model was reflected a global trend for education (end of the 1990s and beginning of the 2000s) and that the curriculum reform movements of this period happened as a result of political and economic reforms, and happened with great internal resistance in schools. It was also concluded that the Project Integrator aims to greater, promote curricular integration of several knowledge of professional education of the IFSC, shaped in the logic of competency model. / Mestrado / Ensino e Práticas Culturais / Mestre em Educação

Memórias e histórias no sudoeste amazônico: o Museu Regional de Arqueologia de Rondônia / Memories and history in the Amazonia southwest: the Regional Archeology Museum of Rondônia

Maurício André da Silva 06 March 2015 (has links)
This dissertation addresses different relationships established by migrants in the southwestern Amazonian context, specifically in Rondônia, with the archeological heritage and the Research Center and Regional Archeology Museum of Rondônia (CPMRARO), opened in 2008. Several studies have placed this region in evidence to the understanding of broader issues of the Amazonian archeology. The arrival of migrants since 1960, their approaches and conflicts with indigenous peoples, rubber tappers, riverine population, among others, have posed challenges to the interpretation of various past in the present. The approach of oral history was used to survey the views on the migration process, the relations with objects and archaeological sites, the perception of cultural diversity and the creation of the Museum. The produced narratives reveal individual and collective memories that provide elements for discussions of the local heritage. The Museum has the potential to combine past and present, projecting a future, so that the area of museology becomes crucial for the preservation and use of heritage as a resource to the population. Similarly, the stories built by archeology can contribute to the production of memories and identities from the work of the Museum. We sought to contribute to the work of this institution through the proposition of educational and expographic activities, increasing its forum space by considering the life experiences of the local population and the commitment of archeology to build an indigenous history.

This study was elaborated through two articles that, even they complement each other, are independent. The first one, named Outros tempos, outro futebol: o campeonato amador de São José do Norte , talks about the historical events of the amateur soccer league city of São José do Norte, city located on the southern coast of Rio Grande do Sul Brazil. This one talks about the events since the first championship, in 1959, until the year of 2011, showing the social relations created by the amateur soccer clubs in their comunities, as well as the economic influence, both the peak and in decline of the city soccer and the insertion of players from other cities in the local soccer. The second article, named De um clube comunitário a um time vencedor: as relações sócio/históricas do Sport Club Barrense , talks about the history of the oldest football club in activity of the city. Founded in October 18th, 1931, S.C Barrense belongs to Povoação da Barra locality, which is characterized as a fishermen comunity, 16km distant from the city center of São José do Norte. Analyzing its 80 years of history the study shows two distinct phases of the club: from an entity with a strong social appeal in the comunity to the 80‟s, the club starts, from de 90‟s on, to prioritize the creation of competitive teams to the dispute of the amateur championship football, reinventing its relationship with the community / Com minha relação pessoal com o objeto de estudo, somada às inquietudes de pesquisador, a dissertação Entre a Laguna e o Oceano: histórias de um futebol busca compreender como se constitui o futebol amador em São José do Norte, assim como o significado desse futebol para a comunidade local.

Mä oon toimittaja”:sukupuoli ja suomalainen toimittajakunta 1960- ja 1970-luvulla

Kurvinen, H. (Heidi) 14 August 2013 (has links)
Abstract The research observes the profession of reporters in the decades when the field underwent several different changes. The development of editorial hierarchy and the transition to a five day working week increased the need for reporters. At the same time, the strenghtening of trade union politics changed the field towards a more professional direction. In terms of gender, the profession became more balanced when the number of female reporters increased. Female reporters entered the field when the demand for new reporters became higher. However, the change was also connected to the overall development in the Finnish society. It was first and foremost women’s opportunities for work that were negotiated in the role debate that was going on during the 1960s. When the debate turned into an official policy that was maintained through legislation, attention was paid to the gendered structures of working life. During the 1970s, women became a part of career world for good. Finnish working life remained segregated but the profession of reporters was one of the fields where both genders had the same duties. However, the profession was not equal in terms of gender. Female reporters were paid less than their male colleagues and they did not have the same opportunities for promotions. What is more, male reporters worked more often as special reporters whereas females remained as all round reporters. In addition, the vocational culture was still based upon masculine values. Within oral history, the gendered structures of the profession were overshadowed by the rhetorics of sameness. In other words, the profession was seen as equal in terms of gender. The explanation can be found in the Finnish gender culture that maintains the idea of gender neutrality of working life. However, the rhetorics also repeated the ideals of equality that prevailed during the 1960s and 1970s. Furthermore, other factors that divided the profession of reporters like age, political background and education also covered up the question of gender. The source material consists of oral history, archival sources and media texts. Sources form different periods of time are read against each other and the experiences of reporters are connected to the discourses of the 1960s and 1970s.

Remedios de mi tierra: An Oral History Project on the Changes and Continuity of the Traditional Healing Knowledge and Practices of a Mexican Immigrant Mother from Guanajuato, Mexico

Saldana Perez, Joel Angel, Saldana Perez, Joel Angel January 2017 (has links)
This thesis looks at the impact of migration and place on the traditional healing knowledge and practices of a Mexican immigrant mother from Guanajuato, Mexico: Sofia Perez. Through the use of oral history methodology and the application of the Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Wisdom (TEKW) model and the Social Ecological Model (SEM) to analyze the narratives, this study looks at the origin of Sofia's healing knowledge and practices and at how she has managed to keep these traditions alive despite migrating to the United States and living in a society that may not believe in the efficacy of these healing traditions. The application of the Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Wisdom (TEKW) model provided insight into the healing traditions of Sofia's home community and the ways in which these were learned, practiced, and preserved and proved useful in looking at how this was done by Sofia before and after migrating. Next, the Social Ecological Model (SEM) proved useful in looking at how place and its various social, cultural, and ecological aspects have influenced Sofia's use of traditional medicine since she migrated. Overall, Sofia's knowledge and practices have been impacted by migration and place; however, she continues to practice these traditions as best as she can.

Continuing the Career: An Oral History of an Emeritus Professor

Read, Kimberly 13 November 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to describe and explain the perspectives of a professor emeritus regarding his life experiences in the discipline of chemistry and in a career dedicated to research, service and teaching. Another purpose, interwoven within the perspective of this one individual, was to explore the potential influence a professor emeritus can have on his institution, and the impact the institution, its changing culture, and its shifting priorities may have on a member of the professoriate dedicated to this chosen career path. The research guiding questions for this study were: (a) What elements of this professor emeritus’ example constitute his perspective on his life as a professor? (b) What elements in his social context contributed to this perspective? And (c) What elements in his life have detracted from this perspective? The literature reviewed for this study focused on organization theory and identity theory as a lens for understanding the perspectives of a professor emeritus. Further, the specific environment of higher education was examined including the professoriate, shared governance and changes in higher education over the last couple of decades. These topics were also explored as they converge in the life of an emeritus professor. The experiences of an emeritus professor were gathered through topical interviews in both unstructured and semi-structured formats, continuing dialog between the researcher and the participant, a researcher reflective journal, and the life artifacts and site documents related to the participant. The presentation of data for this study includes a short narrative of the history and mission of the University of South Florida as well as that of the Department of Chemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences, which is the tenure home of the participant. The data also includes biographical information on the participant, Dr. Dean Martin, and presents data that relate to Dr. Martin’s perspective regarding his career through the lens of self-identity via the theoretical concepts of social and salient identity. The data illustrate the elements that Dr. Martin believes contributed to and detracted from his perspective as an emeritus professor. The data also looks at Dr. Martin’s viewpoint on the various components of the University of South Florida’s landscape. Its environment and how it has changed … or not changed through its history. Finally, this inquiry explores the idea that can we garner ideas from Dr. Martin’s experiences that will direct current and future members of the professoriate towards an engaged and mutually beneficial path. The study presents a discussion of the intersection of personal identity and organizational affiliation. The major findings include three components that are significant in the life of this professor emeritus: a commitment to his continuing career as evidence through ongoing writing, mentoring and philanthropy; the importance of having the opportunity to have an impact in the current and future discipline of chemistry and academia, and the ever present fear of becoming obsolete.

This study seeks to understand the exact moment when three the Afro-American professors who sat for a lato sensu course in Literacy in children from grass-roots backgrounds in 2000, adopted their ethnic and racial identity, as well as the resulting impact their affirmation of belonging to and embracing of the black race had on their teaching activities among grass-roots students. The oral history approach used represented much more than a mere methodology chosen for this purpose, as it stood for an epistemological option and an ethical and political commitment undertaken to foster the reconstruction and valorization of experience, fostering the possibility of re-thinking all emancipatory practices related to people coming from grass-roots origins who, in their vast majority, are Afro-descendents. Thus, oral expressions were privileged with a specific space, in order to apprehend and understand their daily practices and actions as they entail experiences that allowed these professors to rethink, perceive and query prejudice and discrimination suffered in their personal and professional lives, whenever they affirmed their ethnic-racial identity. Taking a full investigatory stance in their role of research professors, they began to present interference in the reality in which they work, proposing actions designed to denaturalize racist practices and strengthen their students of both genders in their ethnic-racial and cultural differences. Taking into account the complexity of this ethnic-racial identity-building process within the context of Brazilian society, the analyses of the oral narratives embedded in the dialogue highlight, as a theoretical benchmark, the epistemology of complexity and the principles of the oral African tradition, that foster comprehension of anthroposocial reality in its multiple dimensions, as man and nature blend with humanity and all that is divine, natural, cultural and historical / Doutorado / Educação, Sociedade, Politica e Cultura / Doutor em Educação
