FRANTIŠEK MACHNÍK - život agrárního politika a ministra národní obrany / FRANTIŠEK MACHNÍK - The life of Agrarian politician and minister of the national defence

KOPECKÝ, Lukáš January 2011 (has links)
Submitted diploma thesis brings the life fates of František Machník, last political minister of the national defence of the first Czechoslovak republic. He was one of the political symbols of the army in 30´s as the representative of the Agrarian party. He soon found that the possible new army conflict among nations could be very real. The whole European effort of keeping Versailles´ peace system was absolutely desperate. Machník became propagator of the nation´s military ability, he popularized the army in the public view and he inspired thousands of people for her. He gave her technic and institutional laws. He was interested in the financial support of the building of the border´s fortification. This diploma work tries as first to map Machník´s life from the very beginnings over his studies, teacher´s and school director´s career and MP activities. It looks on his early enter to the Agrarian party and his work for Agrarian academics. The three - years ministerial career emphasizes two important moments - the law of the national defence and Machník´s decree. WWII brought him first suffering - the Gestapo investigation and then he was sentenced to death and this was changed to life imprisonment. The author of this work is also interested in Machník´s postwar investigation and trial by the National Court in the year 1947. It was followed with the communistic trial in 1952 and 5 years imprisonment. The end of the thesis concentrates on the sad Machník´s retirement after the amnesty in 1953.

Frank O'Hara & the city : situationist psychogeography, postwar poetics, & capitalist culture.

Shweiry, Zein 06 1900 (has links)
This dissertation adopts a fresh interdisciplinary perspective on reading the postwar urban poems of New York School poet Frank O’Hara. Through French Situationist philosophy, and particularly the writings of Guy Debord, the study explores the spatial and textual relations of O’Hara’s urban and cultural representations in postwar poetry. With the help of psychogeography and its “anti-techniques” of détournement and dérive, the research focuses on O’Hara’s uses of appropriation in constructing his urban assemblages. The dissertation considers postwar poems from The Collected Poems of Frank O’Hara and offers Situationist readings and understandings of O’Hara’s modernist (urban and cultural) space. The choice of specific poems highlights O’Hara’s unequivocal inspiration by French poetry and focuses on their urbane, experimental and erotic aspects. The first two chapters propose ways in decoding psychogeographical approaches in poetic (de)composition for reading O’Hara’s poems, while the third delves into O’Hara’s uses of camp in dialogue with Situationist politics that highlight not only the capitalist and the cultural, but also the erotic and the queer.

Traver Navarro, Paula 19 November 2015 (has links)
[EN] This doctoral thesis, that seeks to recover the figure and work of the Spanish composer José María Ruiz de Azagra Sanz (1900-1971), connects with the current lines of research about composers that developed their creative works mainly during the Spanish postwar period. Despite being one of the most prolific and popular composers of his time, in the lyric theatre (paso dobles, couplets, revue¿) genre as well as in the Spanish cinema from the 40s and 50s, Ruiz de Azagra has been ostracised and the references to his work or to his person are rarely existing, although some academic studies and specialized publications stand out, as those by Casares Rodicio, Llisterri or Roldán Garrote, that speak about some aspects of his life and work in the lyrical theatre and film music. The main aims of this work are the presentation and the setting-up of a thorough and updated biography of the composer, as well as his work cataloguing. After a broaden field work that involved the consultation of a wide range of sources, foundations and documentation centres, a biography and a catalogue of the author are presented along with a general analysis of the musical soundtrack for the film La torre de los siete jorobados as well as scores of some compositions for lyric theatre from the 50s, in order to stablish the author's own compositional features in both genres. Finally, it is also included the recovered piano and voice score of the song Manola lá through the playback of the audiovisual recording from the aforementioned film. / Traver Navarro, P.
